#8 of Fido's Story (canon)

This is a little darker has a scene with implied rape so I marked it as Adult. I wrote this one because I really wanted to have a backstory for Sidney where she actually had a baby before being turned into a furry. I also wanted to write this to show just how hurt she is by knowing that she can never have another child, and she will never be able to be with her own child. (Word Count: 6455)

Sidney was sitting alone in her room. It had been nearly a week since Frank told her that her child had been found. In all that time she had kept to herself, secluded in her room with the windows shut and covered by dark curtains. She'd spent most of the daytime brooding and thinking of the child that she would never see, and at night she cried herself to sleep as she remembered that she could never bear another. After Frank delivered the news of her child, Sidney told Fido that she needed some time alone, and for the most part the big dog-man had given her the space that she desired. However, he would periodically come to check on her even though she always insisted that she was fine. He would also bring meals to her room, but she never let him inside, and she barely touched the food that he left. It was about midday when she heard the knock on her door. Looking at the clock beside her bed she assumed that the knock was Fido bringing her lunch.

When she cracked her door open she had expected to see a fluff-filled button up shirt, but instead she was greeted with a pair of eyes that were almost level with her own. She jumped back slightly in surprise. She hadn't expected one of the twins to come see her, but here one was, standing in front of her door, with a bowl of food.

"H-hey, Sidney." The voice said timidly.

It was the brother, Val, she realized. She sighed in relief. She wasn't sure that she could take the sister's beratement, not right now.

"Oh. H-hey, Val." Sidney replied awkwardly. "Did... did you want something?" A stupid question, she knew; he had come to her door at lunch time with a bowl of food. What else could it be?

"Ah," the timid mouse boy exclaimed, "You see, Fido went to town today with Frank, and he asked me to look after you while he was gone." He lifted the bowl as if he were presenting a priceless artifact and smiled brightly saying, "I made some stew!" Lowering the bowl, he continued, "It's one of the things that I used to always make for Vic when she was feeling down." His beaming smile slowly started to turn into a slight grimace of pain as he said with urgency, "Can I come in? Please. This bowl is getting a lot hotter than I thought it would!"

Sidney exclaimed and the opened the door for him. Hurrying inside Val quickly thanked Sidney and sat the hot bowl down on the small table in her room. It was the first thing that she had made with Fido's help. Val sat down in one of the small chairs beside the table, another thing made when it was just Sidney and Fido at the cabin, and started to blow on his hands to cool them off.

Once his hands had cooled down Val looked around and saw that Sidney was staring at him with her back propped against her now-closed door. It was then that he realized that he had never seen the inside of Sidney's room before. It was... pink, he found himself noticing. She had the shades drawn, but he could still make out the shapes of several stuffed animals and heart shaped pillows on her bed. The room seemed to be very much the opposite of what he thought Sidney's room would look like.

After the sight, the smell of the room hit him next. The air was stale and sour, and the source of the stench seemed to be the now-weak looking, disheveled, white-furred fox woman standing in front of the door.

Sidney stared long and hard at Val before addressing him. "So," she said spreading her arms to gesture at the entirety of her bedroom, "Not what you were expecting, huh?"

"Well, it's a lot more...."

"Girly than you expected?" she finished for him. Val nodded his head, and Sidney crossed her arms over her flat chest as she continued to lean against the door. She gave the small man another hard look before averting her eyes and saying, "You know.... I tried everything I could think of to get you into this room." Her voice was callous, accusatory, and slightly angry. "Short of raping you, that is." she added. "That wouldn't have gone over too well with the fluffy one." She shifted her glaring gaze back to Val, and in that moment he felt smaller than he had ever felt in his life.

"Y- you know I'm gay, Sid. I've told you that a hundred times." he protested weakly.

"Yeah?" She fired back in a mocking tone. "That doesn't seem to keep you from screwing your sister."

A look of shame crossed Val's face. He had only come to give Sidney some food because Fido asked him to, and now he was being attacked for no reason. "That's..... different..." He whispered, too ashamed to look Sidney in the eyes. He and his twin sister had been all they ever had. The two of them had always supported each other and taken care of one another. So when the time came in their lives and their bodies started maturing, they took care of each other in other ways. Val had always felt guilty about it, and now he could feel warm, wet streams running down the thin fur on his face.

Sidney saw that he was crying, and her stomach twisted in knots. It was true that she wasn't feeling good, but she realized that it wasn't right for her to take her frustration out on Val; it wasn't his fault, and honestly he knew nothing about it. Her gaze softened and she uncrossed her arms with a sigh as she padded across the room to lay a hand on Val's shoulder.

"Hey, look... I'm sorry. I'm just going through something right now, and I guess I kinda lashed out. I shouldn't have said those things to you. You didn't deserve that.

Val lifted his head, sniffling, and locked eyes with Sidney for a moment.

Do you forgive me?" She asked with a pleading look on her face.

Val wiped his tears away and thought for a moment before quietly saying, "You stink..." Sidney gave him a confused look. "When was the last time you took a shower?" he asked as he gathered himself.

Sidney gave her arm pit a very unladylike sniff and gagged at the smell. She looked back at the cute young man sitting in the chair before her and burst with laughter as she said, "Oh gods! I smell terrible! Hahahaha!"

Val pinched his nose shut and waved a hand in front of his face saying, "You really do!" His voice was filled with laughter as well. "I was trying to be polite and not say anything, but after that verbal beat down, I should at least get to speak my mind as well. Hahaha!" He got up and walked over to one of the windows in the room. After pulling back the curtains, he opened that one and then the others in turn so as to let some fresh air in.

"There." he said, satisfied that the room was adequately ventilated. "I'm gonna go fill up the tub so you can take a bath. I don't know what's got you in this funk, but we can talk about it AFTER you're clean."

Sidney looked at her feet as her long ears flattened and her tail curled the inside of her leg. Sheepishly she said, "Can you... help me out in the bath?" She looked up at the mouse boy with the best puppy dog eyes her fox face could make.

"Val looked her over cautiously and said, "Only if you eat all of your stew and promise that you won't try anything funny."

Her face lit up. "Not even knock-knock jokes?" she teased.

"Sidney." Val gave her a look that left no question as to whether he was serious or not.

_ Wow... Even feminine men can make that face..._ She thought to herself. Her face flushed a little at his firmness, but she simply said, "Deal." and stuck her hand out.

Val shook it and said, "Good." As he walked out the door he called back saying, "Remember! If you don't eat all of your food then the deal's off!" He shut the door behind him.

It was times like this that Sidney really appreciated having Vic and Val around. If it had been Fido in the room just then he would have likely taken on all of her accusations with that stubborn stone face of his until she demanded that he have sex with her so she could forget her troubles. She didn't want to do that this time. She didn't want to fuck away the memories of her child.

She sat down at her small table and looked at the bowl of stew. With the windows open a soft breeze flowed through the room replacing the stagnant, stale air with fresh zephyrs and the scent of pine. She sniffed at the food and her mouth watered with anticipation. She hadn't realized just how hungry she was, and after scarfing down the meal of boiled venison, carrots, onions, and potatoes she found herself cursing for not savoring it more.

When Val came back into the room he did so without knocking and found Sidney with her muzzle burried on the bowl, licking it clean with her long, canine tongue. She froze mid lick opun seeing him and set the bowl down as gently as she could while her light pink ears turned a dark red. Her snowy white muzzle was covered in brown sauce which she tried her best to lick clean before she looked at Val and gave an embarrassed laugh and shrug of her shoulders.

"I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that." the mouse boy sighed. "If you're that hungry there's more in the kitchen. You can have some more after your bath." He held out his hand. "Come on, stinky."

Sidney continued to lick her muzzle as she got up to follow him. As they walked from her room to the large upstairs bathroom the fennec fox woman gave a slight smile and whispered in Val's ear. "You know... You're kinda cute when you take charge like this~"

Val wheeled on her right outside the bathroom door and raised his voice. "Hey! What did I say?! No funny stuff or I'm out of here! We had a deal!"

Sidney put her hands up defensively and gave a nervous laugh. Then she lowered her eyes before saying, "Ah, crap. You're right. Sorry. I'm really trying to be good but... You know I have a problem, right?" She raised her eyes to meet his but kept her head low.

Val crossed his arms and said, "Yes, Sidney. Fido explained it to me and Vic a while back. I want to trust you. That's why I'm going to allow myself to be alone and naked with you. I'm giving you a chance to earn my trust. All you have to do is show me that you can control yourself." He looked her deep in the eyes and said, "Can you? Control yourself, I mean?"

Sidney regarded his question thoughtfully. "I can... try." she finally said. "But please don't hate me if I can't." All at once she had an idea. She raised her head and looked Val square in the eyes before firmly saying, "Cucumber." Val gave her a quizzical look that plainly showed confusion. "That's the safeword that Fido and I use." she explained. "If you feel like I start coming on too strong just say that word and I promise I'll stop."

Val looked at her curiously while keeping his arms croseed and said, "Fine. Just remember I AM trusting you." With that the two entered the bathroom.

None of the tenants of the cabin could ever get used to how big the upstairs bathroom was. They were all used to a small tub shoved in a broom closet with barely the space for a toilet and sink. At least that's how the bathrooms they remembered felt after using the bath that Fido designed and built. The tub was made of lacquered hardwood and could fit four full size adults with room to spare. To the side of the tub was a small shower station with a drain on the floor for scrubbing the dirt and mud off before getting into the tub. Fido had thought his idea was original until Frank burst his bubble one day by telling him that he basically designed a traditional Japanese bathroom.

After closing the door behind them Sidney and Val began undressing. Val had seen Sidney prancing naked through the cabin many times so seeing her nude, fur-covered body was nothing new to him. Sidney, however, had very rarely seen Val naked, and upon seeing his girlish figure and delicate looking penis she instinctively began to tease and flirt with him.

"Cucumber." Val said flatly .

Sidney immediately stiffened and apologized. She then looked around and asked, "Where's Vic? Normally she'd be trying to kick my teeth in if she even thought that we were going to be alone together.

Val chuckled and replied, "Yeah, she can be a bit over protective at times,"

"A bit?" Sidney raised her eyebrow remembering all of the times Vic had chased her away from Val.

Val ignored her and continued, "but she has her reasons. I honestly wish she was nicer to you, but there's not much I can do. We had it pretty hard before we came here, and what happened at the facility didn't help much. Vic has had to have her guard up for so long that I don't think she knows how to put it down." Val's face darkened as he said those last words.

Sidney wanted to comfort him, but the mention of the facility had sent shivers up her spine, and she had to steady herself before she could think of Val.

"Sorry." Val said, crouching beside her. Sidney had unconsciously fallen to her knees as the memories of that awful place came back to her. "I sometimes forget that you and Fido went through the same thing..." Val thought for a moment. "Is that why you locked yourself in your room?" After a brief moment of silence he soothingly continued "I'm trusting you, you can trust me, too. Oh, and to answer your question, Vic went with Fido and Frank. They said something about practicing transformations."

Sidney seemed satisfied with that. She gazed at the mouse boy beside her and said, "I'll trust you, but only if you promise not to tell anyone. That includes Fido and your sister. Frank already knows about this, but I asked him not to tell anyone as well."

Val stuck out his hand and said, "I promise." Sidney took his hand, and after they shook on their promise Val helped the fennec fox girl to her feet. Covering his nose he added, "Alright, stinky. Let's get you clean and smelling good again. I know your boyfriend will appreciate it." They shared a laugh as Sidney turned on the shower and adjusted the temperature. Soon she and Val were scrubbing their fur with flowery scented shampoos. Sidney's bad habits kept cropping up, but before she was able to really do anything Val would utter the safeword and Sidney would come back to her senses, apologize, and thank him. She was trying to behave, but it was harder than Val could imagine.

After they scrubbed themselves as much as they could they took turns scrubbing each other's backs. Val's naked hands came away from Sidney's back was so much fur that he couldn't help but get little grossed out. Usually a bath a day keeps shedding in the cabin to a minimum, but Sidney had neglected her personal grooming for a week and it showed. Val was almost ready to stop because of the sheer amount of fur that was coming out of Sidney snowy white coat and tail, but then he heard Sidney cooing with pleasure as he started to rake through the fur on her lower back. He said the safeword again, and true to form, Sidney stiffened, but this time she didn't apologize. Instead she turned her head and said, "Hey! I wasn't trying to do anything to you that time!"

"You were moaning." Val said dryly.

"Yeah! Because your scrubbing out a weeks worth of loose fur on the most sensitive spot of my back." She pulled her wet tail into her lap and ran her fingers through the long fur as as she blushed. "I usually have Fido get that spot, but since hes not here and its really itchy, I'm afraid I'll have to ask you... Can you get it for me?... Please?"

He saw the pleading in her eyes and groaned. "Ugh! Fine! But if you grab me we're done. Capisce?"

"Fine. Whatever. Just keep going, please." Val resumed his scrubbing. And as he went Sidney's moans got more and more intense. He was just cleaning the base of her tail when Sidney shouted at him to stop.

Val removed his hands and asked, "What? What's wrong?" Sidney turned her head to face him, and he could see that her face beneath her thin, white fur was flushed, and her long ears were just about the color of scarlet.

"A- anymore and I'm gonna... get there." The last two words were said in a way that Val couldn't miss their meaning. The mouse boy's face flushed as well. "I, I said no funny stuff!"

"That's why told you to stop before it happens!" she retorted defensively.

The two stared at each other for a short while before Val suggested leaving the spot for Fido. Sidney agreed, and the two rinsed themselves off in the shower before getting into the bath. They had to drain some water out and put fresh hot water in to re-warm it, but as soon as the water was warm again they both started to soak on opposite sides of the large tub. Sidney was thankful for the size as it put her temptation out of arms reach.

After a few minutes of soaking Val piped up with a question, his medium length blond hair slicked back with the bathwater. "So... What was it?" His question was a mixture of curiosity and concern.

Sidney was letting the heat from the water soak into unused muscles as the spot at the base of her tail itched. She didn't have "hair" in the same sense as the other inhabitants of Fido's cabin. Instead, the same short fur that covered her body covered her head as well. She had been so focused on relaxing that when Val asked his question. She was startled and said, "What? What was that?"

"Your secret that you were going to tell me, Sid. You know... the reason you holed yourself up in your room for a week?"

Sidney looked at the young man as if she were seeing him for the first time. "Oh... Right..." Her face became sullen and her eyes darkened. "You already know how I was used by the facility, right? I was a homeless prostitute, and I would sleep around just so I could have a place to sleep for the night. Most people only use you and drop you off at the next corner, but there were some good people, too. I remember a few guys wanting to marry me, but I saw what happened to the girls who believed that lie. They were back on the streets within a month with a "present" that they would have to wait nine months to see, or make the choice that no young woman should have to make."

Sidney never wanted a cigarette so bad in her life, and secretly cursed Fido for his strict no smoking rule.

Val was starting to get interested. "All right. I've heard that before. We told our stories when we came here, me, Vic, you, and Fido, but you didn't seem to have a problem talking about this before."

Sidney let her head roll lazily to the side so she could look at the little mouse boy at the other side of the tub. "You won't let me finish? Huh?" She was clearly annoyed by the interruption, but she straightened her head and sunk her body lower in the water before continuing. "Anyway. I always swore that I would never get pregnant. Not on those streets. I even started picking up more women as clients just so I would have less of a chance, but loves a funny thing, you know? It can make your head fly right out the window, taking all sense of reason with it. I couldn't remember his face for the longest time after what the facility did to me, but I never forgot his name. It was only when Frank brought a locket with his picture in it that I was able to recall what he looked like. Her eyes went hazy and unfocussed as if she were looking at something that wasn't there. "Marcus~" she said the word as if it were a prayer and the man would appear once his name was called.

Val swallowed a lump in his throat, but respectfully waited for her to continue.

"He was a prostitute, just like me." she managed after a long silence. "I first met him when we got in a fight. He was a cross-dresser, kind of like you, but with beautiful, wavy, brown hair that reached down to his lower back, and golden brown eyes the same as Fido's. Don't tell him, but it was because he has the same eyes as my Marcus that I ever trusted him. Anyway, after I beat Marcus' lanky ass for working my corner one night we had to run from the cops together. Once we were safe we looked at each other and laughed our asses off. It was one of the best adrenaline highs of my life." She managed to smile slightly before she continued. "Marcus was always my bitch after that fight," Sidney let her smile turn into a triumphant, toothy grin.,"but he was also my best friend, and between the two of us we were able to afford an apartment. It wasn't anything big, but it was much better than sleeping under bridges and in cardboard boxes; the shelters in my city were often times more dangerous than the streets so we tried to avoid them at all costs. Marcus was pansexual, like me, and living together, we naturally started having sex with each other. We were always safe about it, but there was one night when we both got way too drunk at a party. When the cab finally got us home I had an itch that could only be scratched one way, and boy did I want it scratched. When we woke up I noticed that I had tied Marcus to the bed in his seed was leaking out of me. We both panicked as we realize that Marcus had tried to use protection, but I through his condom in the trash and tied him down. He tried to console me, but I knew what I had done and I felt like a monster for it.

Val visibly backed away from Sidney once she said that. He looked her up and down not sure what to make of her at this point.

Sidney shuddered and hugged her legs to her chest as a feeling of shame washed over her. She knew what Val must be thinking. There was a long silence after that, the only sounds being the small drops from the faucet plinking into the water. Val finally piped up quietly, curious to know the rest of the story, but still keeping his distance from Sidney. "So... Then what happened?"

Sidney took a deep breath before continuing. "A few weeks passed after that night and I started to develop the symptoms." Her words hung heavy on the air, and she took another deep breath before continuing. "I was scared, so of course I talked to Marcus about what was going on. He tried to reassure me that everything was going to be okay, but I knew the reality of our situation. We had that hard talk, that no one wants to have, about whether or not I should keep it, and, after a few sleepless nights and nauseous mornings of worrying, Marcus came to me and told me that he had been applying for jobs, that he wanted me to keep the baby because he was going to get a respectable job and provide for me and our child."

"The next couple months were great. Marcus got a job working at a call center, and I kept working the streets until I started to show. Once that happened Marcus told me that he didn't want me working anymore. He said that he would provide everything, and soon he had enough saved up to move us to an apartment in a better part of town."

Sidney paused again as she let her memories of what followed wash over her. "I don't know why bad things happen to good people." she said with such remorse that it felt as if her words sucked the heat from the air around them.

"W- what do you mean?" Val asked nervously.

"On the day that Marcus was going to sign the lease for the new apartment, on the way to the bus stop, he was mugged..." She took a deep breath, "...and killed." She could hear the water in the tub splash as Val covered his mouth in surprise, forgetting his wariness from earlier.

Her voice lost all emotion as she repeated herself. "He was killed. My love... and the father of my unborn child was taken from me, and I didn't even know about it until late that evening when the cops knocked on my door."

"Marcus had been carrying the money for first and last months rent, as well as the money for the security deposit when he was killed. The only thing left for me was the rest of the month on the current apartment, a $100 bill, and a baby that was due four months from now. I tried getting a real job like Marcus. I even went to the call center to see if they would let me have his old job, but I was showing too much and no one wanted to hire pregnant a woman who would need to take maternity leave in a few months."

"The end of the month came and, despite my begging, I was kicked out of my apartment and found myself alone and back on the streets. Only now I was pregnant, and most people don't want to fuck a pregnant whore." Her voice gained a definitive tone of contempt, and she paused to let the word sink in again. With her brow furrowed she pulled her knees tighter to her chest. She stared angrily at the water as she continued, "I blamed Marcus for a little while, you know? I blamed him for having all that money on him at one time. I blamed him for not paying for us to stay longer at the old apartment. I even blamed him for..." Her voice trailed off and she covered her mouth as she started to cry.

Val looked at her with sad eyes. He moved across the large tub to sit next to her, knowing that she was in pain and in need of comfort. Laying his hand on her arm, he looked into her eyes and reassured her, "Hey. It's okay. You don't have to say."

Sidney turned her head to face him, and as she took a staggered breath she wiped her eyes and said, "No. I have to say." She then returned her gaze to the now lukewarm water, and stated very matter-of-factly, "I blamed him for dying.. and leaving me to care for this child alone." The words felt like a dagger in her heart, and her stomach turned. She felt like she was going to be sick right then and there. She sat, shuddering, for a while before composing herself. Once she had, she placed her hand on Val's and thanked him before moving his hand from her arm.

"I think I'm going to be okay now. Thanks, Val." She did her best to smile warmly at him through her tears.

"After I got kicked out of our apartment, that's when I realized how stupid I was being. Once I was back on the streets, after I realized I couldn't prostitute myself anymore, I remembered Marcus' advice and sought out a more reputable women's shelter that was in a church. It was embarrassing to ask for their help, especially since we believed in different gods, but I had more to worry about them my pride and my religion. I had to do whatever it took to make sure that this baby was born healthy and had a good life."

Things weren't always easy, but the remaining months passed without incident. I had a lot of time to think during those months, and when it came time for me to give birth I had already decided to give my child up for adoption. The women's shelter took me to the hospital once my water broke. I told the doctor that I didn't want to know if it was a boy or girl. That would've made things so much harder, but as I was recovering in my hospital room I heard the nurses talking about what a cute little girl I just had. After a few days the doctors let me check out, and while I was signing all of the forms I noticed the enormous bill that I was left with. I managed to talk the lady behind the counter into waiving the upfront cost as long as I made monthly payments."

"I didn't know what to do. I had just given up my child and I had a huge debt that I would never be able to pay off. It was about a week later that some guys in a sketchy looking van started roaming the streets at night offering a large amount of cash for participating in their experiments. I had already lost everything that I cared about, so I thought I'd take them up on their offer." She held out a fur-covered arm and added, "and this is what I got for my trouble. I was tortured, beaten, and assaulted, not to mention having my humanity ripped away. But the worst part," tears began to well in her eyes again as the memories and emotions came flooding back. "The worst part is that they made it so that I can't have another baby!" The words came out louder than she expected, and she sobbed heavily as she buried her face in her knees.

Val didn't know what to say. He knew that no words could make this better. He knew that the facility had made all of them sterile during their surgeries, but he never knew that Sidney had given birth before being changed. Being alone with a crying woman had never been Val's favorite thing, but here he was, and he knew he needed to say something. "What about the baby you had with Marcus? You can't have anymore children, but you could still try to find them and be a mom to them."

Sidney shot Val and angry look. "So what do you suggest?" she snapped. "You want me to just go to the orphanage and say 'Hey, don't be scared that I'm a half-human half-fox monster thing! I'm just here to pick up my kid that I've seen since childbirth!' Yeah, I'm sure that would go over real well!" Sidney turned from Val and started brooding silently in her corner of the tub, she let herself sink down into the water until her muzzle was half submerged and she was blowing bubbles.

Again Val found himself unable to say anything, and a long silence filled the room only being broken by Sidney's bubbling.

"I do know where she is." Sidney finally said with a sigh. When Frank came to visit a week ago he gave me a sterling silver locket with a picture of her and Marcus in it. He told me that some of the people who are close to him managed to smuggle it out of the facility. He also told me that he found my daughter. I never wanted him to do that." She was shivering again with a mixture of emotions, but the one that stood out to Val was a pained sort of anger.

"I was really enjoying my time here. How dare he remind me of my past." She forced the words out through clenched teeth as her eyes narrowed "I even told him; back when we first met he offered to look into my past, and I told him not to." She let her angry words hang in the air for a moment then as if she was waking up from a dream she became painfully aware of the naked mouse boy sitting next to her in the tub. She looked at him and then looked around the large bathroom. Looking out the window she could see the sun was still shining brightly, but she had no idea how long they had spent soaking in the tub as she talked. She looked at Val who had a look of genuine concern on his face and then she gave an embarrassed laugh. "Heh heh. Wow. Sorry about that. Gods, how long have we been in here? Haha. I'm going to get out now."

As she stood up to get out she heard Val's meek voice. "I'm glad you told me, Sidney. I'll keep it a secret like you asked, but I'm glad to know."

Sidney couldn't bring herself to face him, and quietly whispered, "... Thank you." Then a loud rumbling noise filled the bathroom and Sidney covered her belly with her hands. Val shot up from the water, his naked, fur-covered body dripping wet, and laughingly asked, "What was that?" Sidney gave him an embarrassed look over her shoulder and said, "Y-you did say there was more that stew downstairs, right?"

Val laughed again as he got out of the tub and walked over to a cabinet. He opened it and pulled out two fresh towels. Handing one to the fox girl he said, "Haha. Yeah. Let's get dry and get some clothes on I'll warm it back up if you'll bring down your dirty clothes."

Sidney agreed, and soon the two were sitting at the kitchen table enjoying bowls of stew with frozen rolls that Val heated up in the oven. As they were eating Val looked up from his stew and said, "Hey, Sid?"

The white-furred fox girl had just taken a bite of her roll after dunking it in her stew. Swallowing hard she answered, "Yeah? What's up?"

Val looked at her and said, "The next time something is bothering you like that, and you don't want to go to Fido, feel free to come talk to me. I may not be able to give good advice, but I can always listen."

"Thanks," she said. "That really means a lot."

Just then they heard Fido's pickup truck pull up, and Sidney's long ears perked up with excitement as a broad smile lit up her entire face. Before Val could say anything she disappeared in a blur of white fur.

Outside, Fido had barely gotten out of the truck when something hit him in the chest with such force that knocked him flat on his back. He had been congratulating Vic on the progress that she made in their transformation practice, and didn't see the door to the cabin open or the tank top wearing, white-furred blur that came rocketing down the steps towards him.

When he finally regained his senses he realizes Sidney was on top of him, rubbing her muzzle against the thick fur on his neck and hugging him with all her strength. Fido patted her on the head and laughed as he said, "Well, I guess this means you're feeling better now, huh?"

Sidney looked up at him and grinned a toothy smile. "Yep! And it's all thanks to Val!" She got off of the big St. Bernard man and helped him to his feet. Just then Val was walking down the steps of the large wraparound porch that encircled the cabin.

Fido and Sidney walked up to the foot of the steps with Val's twin sister trailing a few steps behind.

"I don't know how you got Sidney out of her funk, but I'm glad you did." Fido ruffled the smaller man's hair. "Thanks, buddy."

Val felt his cheeks flush. He looked down at his feet and smiled saying, "It... It was nothing. I just made her some food and we talked for a bit."

Vic popped out from behind Fido and said, "Oh, sweet! Is there any food left? I'm fuckin' starvin'!"

Val replied, "Yeah. I made some venison stew and baked some rolls to go with it."

Vic hugged her brother around the neck. "That's why yer awesome, little bro!" She turned to regard Fido and Sidney. "You asshole's better hurry up or I'm gonna eat it all myself. That training made me hungry as shit." With that, she hurried up the stairs and disappeared into the house.

"Well, I guess I'd better hurry up if I want to eat." Fido laughed. He then looked from Sydney to Val and said, "Thanks again, man. I don't suppose I could ask what y'all talked about?"

Sidney piped up before Val had the chance. "Ah ah ah. It's a secret~" she put her finger to her lips and winked at her lover.

Fido regarded her with suspicion, but then shrugged his shoulders and said, "Well, there are no rules against having secrets. I'm just glad you're feeling better." He kissed Sidney on the cheek, and then ushered her and Val inside the cabin where Vic was already devouring the remains of the venison stew.
