Fido had decided to take a walk in his feral form. After locking the door he transformed into a large adult saint bernard and walked off into the forest surrounding his two-story log cabin. As he went deeper into the woods he heard the sound of a small creature running from what sounded like a group of humans. He ran toward the noise not knowing what to expect.

As he came to the edge of a clearing he saw what was making the noise. A small, solid white fox was running from a group of humans wielding farming tools as weapons. He watched as a second group surrounded the small fox from another side of the clearing. They encircled the small fox and raised their weapons saying things such as "Kill it!" "Death to the demon!" and "Be careful of her magic! The witch can change her shape!"

Fido couldn't sit back and do nothing as this mob killed a defenseless animal. He charged into the clearing barking and growling. He jumped on the back of one of the men and knocked him forward into the rest of the crowd. Everyone jumped back at the addition of this giant dog. Snarling and biting he bit at hands as they tried to grab him. He had found that he could speak to other animals when he was in his feral form so he yelled at the small, white fox, "RUN! I'll hold them off!" The small fox looked at him confused before saying, "Th-thank you!" and running off into the forest. The mob tried to chase after it but Fido positioned himself between them and the fox, not letting anyone get past him. He couldn't however stop one of the mob from throwing a pitch fork at the little fox and damaging it's tail. Fido ran up to the one who threw it and transformed back to his anthro form right in front of the man. He grabbed the man by the head and pulled the man's face to his snout before saying, "That wasn't nice." and throwing the man into the others. He growled at the entire mob and shouted a warning, "This forest is guarded by me and anyone who dares to harm a creature in it will suffer my wrath! Leave now or be eaten alive! The choice is yours!" As he huffed and allowed his muscles to bulge he watched as the mob fled back to the small town on the other side of the forest. Surely seeing a huge dog turn into a human form must have been quite a shock for them.

He turned and walked out of the clearing, back into the forest. After making it a short way from the clearing he noticed someone standing next to a tree. The sun was setting so he couldn't make out who it was, but he thought that it might have been someone from that mob who hadn't gotten the hint, so he yelled, "I thought I told all of you to leave this forest! Do you want to be eaten alive!?" From beside the tree a small feminine voiced replied, "N-no.... I just wanted to thank you..." Clearly confused Fido stepped closer to the short figure until he was able to see that it was that of a small woman, covered with solid white fur, big, long ears, and a tail which was missing some fur and was dyed red with blood in one spot.

"It can't be..." Fido stared at the woman and, realizing that they were both naked turned away from her. "You... Can you transform yourself from animal to human too?" he asked, looking away from her. She nodded and her ears flattened against her head. "I can... In fact that's why I was being chased. I was caught shifting and everyone thought that I was some kind of witch... They chased me into this forest until you saved me..." She walked up to Fido and wrapped her soft, fur covered arms around his muscular waist. "Thank you, again." Fido started to blush and pulled away form her before saying that they should head back to his place so that he could bandage her tail.

Once they arrived back at his cabin he unlocked the door and let her in. After putting on a pair of blue jeans he went back to the small woman and offered her one of his button up shirts so that she could cover herself. While she put the shirt on he went to find some bandages, and in no time her tail was patched up. It looked kind of funny with the way it way poofy up to the last quarter of it, then it suddenly got skinny and poofed at the tip. The small fox lady laughed at this and then remembered that she hadn't gotten the name of her savior yet, so she introduced herself. "My name is Sidney... I'm a fennec fox... Thank you again, but who are you?" Fido replied by saying, "My name is Fido. I'm a saint bernard, and your welcome." Fido took a moment to take in is guests small stature. He couldn't help but think of how cute she looked in his too-big shirt, but he reminded himself that now wasn't the time for that. Sidney blushed feeling his gaze upon her body. She looked him over as well, eying his massive frame. Because he was covered in thick, medium-length fur his musculature couldn't easily be made out, but she was sure that he was strong. If anyone had saved her she was glad it was him. "I... I want to pay you back for all of your help, but I don't really have anything to offer you." she said as her eyes lowered to sullenly look at the floor. Fido pulled up a wooden chair and sat in it so that he could speak to her at eye level. "look, I don't need any payment. I just want to make sure that you are okay. Are you?" His brow furrowed with genuine concern while she looked distraught and protested. "I'm fine, but..... I WANT to repay your kindness. Maybe I could do some chores around here to help you out until your satisfied or..." She let her voice trail off as her eyes started to tear up and she began lifting her shirt. Fido reached over to her and placed a hand on hers, stopping her and saying, "I don't need that kind of payment. I don't want you to force yourself to do something that you might regret later." Upon hearing his kind words tears streamed down her face. Fido put his hand on the top of her head and gave a comforting smile. "Let this be all that we speak about it tonight. For now let me show you to a room that you can sleep in." He wasn't sure what kind of life she had lead up to this point, but based on her actions he knew that she wasn't used to people being kind to her.

The night went on and, after giving Sidney a short tour of the cabin, the two went to up stairs to sleep in their own rooms, Fido in his and Sidney in one of the three guest rooms. But Sidney couldn't sleep, today had been too eventful and she still had some stuff on her mind. She was used to sleeping by herself wherever she could, and she couldn't remember the last time she actually slept in a bed that felt this comfortable and safe. She wasn't sure if Fido had been experimented on the same way she was, but she made a point to remember to ask him about it in the morning. She shifted her tail around so that she could hold the injured part as she cursed herself for getting seen. She had just stolen a few vegetables from a small garden and snuck into a nearby barn so that she could enjoy them in secret. She had only changed into her anthro form so that she could eat the vegetables easier, after all if she didn't have to eat in her animal form she wasn't going to. Everything was going great until a little boy, who must have been exploring like boys do, came across her and yelled for his dad that there was a naked lady werewolf in the barn. When the boy's father came over to see what his son was talking about Sidney tried to say some things to explain herself, but her talking only served to make the situation worse. It was only when the farmer grabbed a pitch fork and threw it at her that she thought to change back into her animal form. The farmer's wife had just gotten to the scene when Sidney shifted, and her first thought and words when seeing the spectacle was, "DEMON!" From there the family chased her into town where they gathered more people until they finally came to the clearing where Fido was. As she remembered how the rest of the scene played out she grabbed her bandaged tail again and started to tear up for a second time. She really did think she was going to die in that clearing, and she knew that she could never truly repay Fido for saving her life. She looked at her door one last time and shuffled a bit under the warm blankets before thanking the gods for her rescuer and falling asleep.
