J'nari

The Brute of Elsweyr

"Outsiders commonly have this misconception about Khajiit that we are like a coin. Thieves and assassins on one side, smugglers and drug dealers on the other. In reality, Khajiit are more like a dice. A much-much-sided dice, if you will."

-J'nari

A warrior of massive size, J'nari has aptly earned the nickname of the brute of Elsweyr (2). Standing at 7'3", J'nari is quite obviously a Cathay-raht. With a propensity to use a massive Warhammer in combat, this Khajiit is a terrifying sight to behold.

J'nari was born in the merchant kingdom of Anequina (4) thirty years ago. He came up to Skyrim eight years ago, at the age of twenty-two, lured by tales of dragons and of the many threats plaguing Skyrim. While he was here, he replaced his customary Dwemer Warhammer with a unique, Daedric weapon: Volundrung. This hammer, a sacred item of Malacath, is an impressive sight on its own. In J'nari's powerful hands, it becomes terrifying.

In combat, J'nari proves himself more brutish than most Nords, and, indeed, Dro'amoreth (8). With his massive hammer, he bashes people left in right, taking a berserker stance on how to use it. He'll absorb damage if he can dish out massively more than he takes.

Born with Dragonblood, though not as a Dragonborn, J'nari has a unique gift. He, like us, has the power to instantly learn and read the words of the Word Walls of Skyrim. Unlike us, the Dragonborn, he can't absorb the souls of dragons, instead having to learn them all by himself. With the Greybeard's help, J'nari has access to the complete Unrelenting Force and Fire Breath shouts, which he uses to great effect in combat.

When J'nari is whacking with his hammer, all best stay clear. Though his powerful strikes are measured, he tends to get carried away. J'nari is so powerful that, in combat, I've seen him smash down trees with an overly wide swing. And not just little saplings. I'm referring to massive, old trees. Not too huge, but definitely big enough.

J'nari, like Dro'amoreth and I (6), prefers to use heavy armour, specifically, a specially enchanted armour, designed by me and based on the Ebony Mail, Boethiah's sacred armour. The armour, when in combat, emits a black cloud, which is a form of night poison, damaging to all who get close. In darkness, this also acts as a concealment. Though one sure has to admire the drama present in the piece!

As a Cathay-raht, J'nari boasts tremendous size. This, combined with his black armour and massive Warhammer, make many run from him in sheer terror, believing him to be an abomination from Oblivion itself. J'nari loves to terrify people and will oftentimes let bandits go to spread word and cause fear. Once, when J'nari and I were exploring a fort together, he walked slowly after a bandit, who turned and ran away, down a set of stairs. Reaching the balcony where the stairs emanated from, J'nari vaulted the railing and landed directly in front of the bandit, surrounded by his black cloud, and weighing enough to crack the stone...

She passed out instantly.

Unlike the other three Khajiit mentioned prior to J'nari, he is not a blood relative of mine. We met J'nari when he came to Khajiitihold one day, wondering if we had any work. Dro'amoreth pointed him to a bandit lair and he came back later, reporting success. He then asked if he could help around the farm, when not off adventuring, in exchange for bedding and food. Dro'amoreth accepted and now, J'nari is a close friend.

I've had the privilege to work with J'nari many times in the past and he has proven himself a loyal friend and a fierce warrior. A close friend of Kharjo (24), J'nari will often seek his help on an adventure as well. I can only imagine how our group looks sometimes, travelling through Skyrim. Me, Ma'jyrr (7), Dro'amoreth, J'zargo (23), Kharjo, and whomever Dro'amoreth brings from the companions.

J'nari was born and raised in Elsweyr and has the accent to match. However, as a youth, his parents were imprisoned by the Thalmor (though eventually released). As a result, a kindly Imperial couple living in Dune, took the Khajiit in and raised him until his parent's release. Due in part to this, J'nari doesn't boast the third-person way of speaking that most Khajiit have. The reason for this tendancy amongst most Khajiit, is that our language has no word to refer to oneself. So, we refer, even in our own language, in a circulatory way to ourselves.

J'nari is a smart individual, but does not much regard the study of history. In fact, he is afraid of Dwemer ruins, where he and I highly disagree. I would

spend my entire day in a Dwemer Ruin, just studying and learning. Calcelmo, Markarth's court wizard, and I are quite often co-workers in this way.

To see J'nari in a battle-rage is an impressive sight, as nothing can stop him. He's not huge on the way of sneak, but he is still a stealthy individual. Practically anyone on this list, even Dro'amoreth, could teach J'nari a thing or two about stealth and subtlety. Still...he's an impressive figure.

So, should you wish for an early death, or express a sudden desire to become a pancake, seek out and find J'nari. If not, then don't. J'nari, while a wonderful soul and an incredibly person, is a deadly warrior when provoked.
