Khajiit Breeds:

The Variations

To start this chapter off simply, not enough know of the various breeds of Khajiit. But the species is a highly adaptable one and one which was a focal point of the war between the two halves of Elsweyr (2). Khajiit breeds not being treated as they should've been.

Make a note of the fact that when I say breeds, I am not simply referring to our species as though we were a kind of dog, where you mix one variant with another and get something new. No, that's not what I'm telling you. Khajiit breeds are not chosen by the physical traits of the parents, but by the phases of the moon. I know this may sound strange to an outsider, but when a Khajiit is born, it is a small, mewling kitten, no matter what its eventual breed.

After two months, it begins to adapt and change form, rapidly progressing to a point where it becomes obvious what breed it is. Especially if it is one of our quadruped brethren. Paws will stretch and shapen, forming hands or paws. The jaw will change shape, as will the neck. The very spine undergoes rapid and extreme changes. All to form a new Khajiit, under a form chosen by Jone and Jode, the two moons, on the day of the kitten's birth. Following, is a list of Khajiit breeds, their appearance and sub-variations. Also, attached by each breed is a commonness outside of Elsweyr number (Imperial Digits, set in square brackets) and a list of Khajiit in this tome that match that breed.

Cathay [VII]

One of the most common of Khajiit breeds, Cathay are also one of the most impressive. Generally standing around 6 feet tall, they are a warrior breed. Not as agile as a Suthay, but still nimble and fleet. Notables include: Jo'akora, Ma'jyrr, Dro'amoreth, Dar'isa, Midnight, Dar'mhirr, S'rassa, Dar'shaza, Khazzi, J'zargo, Kharjo, Ri'saad.

Cathay-raht [IV]

Rarer than Cathay, outside Elsweyr, stand the Cathay-raht. These Khajiit are the absolute warriors in Elsweyr. Standing around 7 to nine feet tall, the Cathay-raht are a match for the most grizzled of Nords and Orcs. Notables: J'nari, S'mrischa-do.

Suthay [VIII]

One of the most common breeds of Khajiit spotted outside Elsweyr, lies the Suthay. Smaller than the Cathay, at about 5 and a half feet tall, the Suthay are also digitigrade Khajiit. Nimble and quick, the Suthay make excellent thieves, which is in part where our stereotype arises from. Notables: Dar'shada

Suthay-raht [VII]

Another common variant, the Suthay-raht breed of Khajjit stand taller than their Suthay brethren, topping the scales at just about six feet even. Only mildly shorter than Cathay, Suthay-raht are a good mix breed and stand digitigrade, like the Suthay. Notables: Razum-dar, Dar'mhira, Jiira, Azi, Do'kharza, Do'razzi.

Pahmar [III]

Rarely found outside of Elsweyr lie the Pahmar. Very much like tigers, the Pahmar are the first quadruped species we'll cover. Just as intelligent as any other Khajiit, the Pahmar are unable to speak or cast magic, yet are fearsome opponents in combat.

Pahmar-raht [IV]

The Pahmar-raht have the distinction of being larger than their Pahmar cousins. No more smart, the Pahmar-raht are dangerous.

Tojay[V]

Tojay are notable as being the fastest of Khajiit breeds. With short, tiger-patterned fur covering their bodies, the Tojay are a beautiful breed. With powerful digitigrade legs, the bipedal Tojay can race down a Senche-raht.

Tojay-raht[III]

A larger variant of the Tojay breed, Tojay-raht are also slightly slower and unable to keep pace. Less nimble than their counterparts as well.

Senche

A large breed of Khajiit, Senche stand six feet at the shoulder, topped only by the mounstrous Senche-raht.

Senche-raht [II]

Standing eleven feet at the shoulder, the Senche-raht is as big as they come. Known to Imperials as "Battlecats", Senche-raht make good tanks.

Alfiq [VI]

At a direct contrast to the Senche-raht, stand the Alfiq. As small as housecats, the Alfiq are possibly the smartest of Khajiit breeds. Despite their quadrupedal stance, Alfiq are also the most magical breed. They make excellent spies.

Alfiq-raht [III]

The only difference between the Alfiq and the Alfiq-raht is the size. Alfiq stand only marginally larger than their cousins.

Ohmes [VIII]

A rather common breed of Khajiit, the Ohmes appear very much like the Bosmer. With elf-like pointed ears and a coat of fur so thin it seems transparent, most actually mistake the two in their first meeting.

Ohmes-raht

Again, slightly larger than their cousins, the Ohmes-raht also differ vastly in appearance. While the Ohmes could pass as a Bosmer, an Ohmes-raht breed of Khajiit could not, seeing as they have cat-ears and a tail, along with digitigrade feet. Often shunned by imperials as unholy cat-elf hybrids.

Dagi

A very light and nimble breed of Khajiit, the Dagi are the smallest of the humanoid Khajiit breeds. Standing about three feet tall, and very nimble and thin, the Dagi are possibly as good archers as the Bosmer themselves. Able to ascend to the highest and lightest of branches, where even Bosmer cannot go, the Dagi are beneficial war partners.

Dagi-raht

Only mildly larger than the Dagi, the Dagi-raht are even better arachers. Stronger limbs allow the greater pulling of a bowstring.

Elsweyr, sweet Elsweyr

Where men-like cats roam

Where beasts can think

And housecats spell

Dear Elsweyr

Oh my Elsweyr

The tropics call me

Torval-bound

Glorious and loved

Lies my Elsweyr
