Leave me alone.

Chapter one- my name is...

I sure do get a lot of visitors these days. I find it best to be polite when meeting new individuals. My name is Ruua. A dragon like you. A simple every day boring dragon. I go to sleep when I am tired and wake when I am not. I go looking for meat when I am hungry. When I meet one I find attractive I have a desire to mate. Normal living being desires. That is as true now as it was the day I drew breath...

Ruua looked at the huge being in front of him. Every instinct he had told him he should run and flee. It was a predator like no other he may ever meet. It's huge fangs were already dripping of blood and scraps of flesh. A few other like him were remaining motionless around him while others were starting to stand as well. It was a moment later that one standing took the neck of another trying with all their strength to stand by the neck. In one quick motion a second predator was in the room. He was the first to move away from the stronger threat. Wise enough to not attempt to steal another meal. He instead went to an area where there were fewer standing and more laying still. It was nearer to the largest predator there but he could tell she was satisfied with what she had consumed already. He moved to one he could tell was lifeless and began to eat his fill as well.

There was more than enough meat for him so after he had his fill he moved the half eaten corpse to another. She was not deformed but she did not have the energy to claim one of the other meats nearby. A great voice then entered the chamber. " Ruua, why did you give your meat to another?"

He looked up to the great predator not knowing how to respond. In both not knowing how to use language and not knowing what to say. However he knew this was right. If he gained anothers use. She see the value of teaming up to her the two of them can take more meat than either could get alone. After her meal she began to rest to let the food settle. He knew this was unwise.

The room was full of predators. The meat of the dead will soon be gone. Their next meal there they will have to earn threw their own blood. Even with two they could not survive in that situation for long. Others will begin to form groups to get more meat than a single will, no matter how strong they are. And he must not forget about the large predator there either. Who knows when her sedated hunger will appear again. He looked for a way to escape and the only one he found was a passage out of the room. By the smeared blood he was not the first to find this exit. Instinct told him also once he went down that path he may never return. He took a moment to steel himself before moving forward confident. The female he fed did not follow. Nor did any others.

Along the path the dead and starved made more food for him when he stopped to rest. These were ones that did not feed and knew their only chance was to leave. Their bodies became his food. The strength he will need for the outside. A few from before made it this far. Doing as he did and eating the ones that failed before, but those that did did not have the strength for more remained just outside the cave he saw. The weather was not a kind one to the weak this time. The three that made it before him cowered together in the shelter of a crevasse. Even a full grown would be a fool to fly in this storm from so high a point. He was tempted to oust the other three from the hole to show his superiority but thought better of it. Even thou it did not work with the one below these three knew that teaming together bettered their chances. Ruua put his back to the wind as he covered the crevasse with his wings and body protecting those weaker than him for the night.

Chapter two- simpler days

Those days were much simpler than now. It was pure instinctual survival. One mistake and you were dead. One fault and you were dead. One misgiving and you were betrayed and likely dead. It was a hard time and I do miss them some. The ability to learn and grow by leaps and bounds. But I had my time. As all should.

Ruua opened his eyes from his rest to find himself still alive. He was stiff and in pain. Sheltering the other three left his back exposed and branches have been hitting him that have fell from above. However this will not hinder him he felt. As he backed away and the light of the new dawn hit the other three they awoke as well. They three look at him appreciative before going on their way. Ruua knew why they left without him. He was much bigger and stronger than the three. Perhaps the three of them would surpass his strength together but at least one of them would not make it either. Not only that but all four knew Ruua would have to supply the meat for them and take the biggest portions.

There would not be enough meat to go around. In order for them all to survive he would have to be alone. So he took off in the opposite direction, alone. As he flew he saw others that were back in the cave have emerged as well, including the female he first helped. These hunting grounds would mean slim pickings without a risk of harm to himself so he continued on. The sun was high in the sky is when he found his next meal. A large piece of meat. If it was not for the reflection of some of it's extremities he would not have noticed it. He immediately swoops down like a predator and takes it with all four sets of his claws at the same time. After that he went for the meat's neck to make it stop resisting for good. After that he looked at the other piece of meat there he barely noticed till then. This one had a brighter color to it. He suspected the females wore that to signal poisonous. Besides the meat he just got will be enough for him but he knew it not wise to eat where it was not safe and took the meat with him.

This meat was strange. It had several layers of flesh armor. One was of a metal and another a plant and even another of another form of meat flesh. It was a good predator but he was better. He considered a moment that he interrupted a mating ritual. Thinking this it might have been better to have observed this mating and when done take the meat. That way there will be more meat in the future. However what is done is done. He ate his fill of the meat and noticed something dull in the remains of the shells he tore away to get to the meat. For some reason he saw the metal and knew by instinct to keep it. It will be important later in his life.
