The scent was stronger than before now, twisting around each Terveta and burning their noses. Storm clouds had covered the heavens completely in a dark gray mass that hung low to the ground. Blizzard let a deep breath go, a tendril of mist coming out from his mouth when it came into contact with the cold air. He had his helmet under his arm, looking out across the huge land that stretched out beyond the city limits. He stood atop the wall's edge and oversaw where he thought the first front of hostiles would be incoming.

The city's barrier was twelve feet of packed concrete, reinforced with several steel meshes intertwined together on the inside. Vace wasn't far, and the two decided to partner up and position themselves where a section of the wall had been knocked out. The portion extended from the very top right down to the bottom, and was broken into what looked like a mild wedge shape with the slants going down at a very shallow angle. Blizzard stood at one end of the chasm while Vace stood at the other, out looking and searching.

"How much longer?" Blizzard yelled out to the Gamma. There was only a seventy meter gap and with each of their acute hearing it really didn't take that much of a raised voice to be heard, nonetheless, he was anxious.

Vace turned his head towards his Alpha, still wearing his own helmet before he began to search. "They'll be here in five minutes," he replied, calmer.

The husky bit idly on his bottom lip while glaring out at the horizon. "Well... how many are there?" He asked with the same volume as before.

"There's a hundred sixty, but a majority of them are coming from this side, about a third. The others are coming from all around the city. I think they know we're here," Vace called back.

Blizzard growled to himself and slipped the helmet over his muzzle and latched it. "Yeah I'd expect they have crossed our trail half a day ago," He mumbled to himself.

He started to concentrate and build his energy. Arms held out at his sides, the energy started in his paws and began to build. A faint dark blue glow began to spark to life, waves of heat rolling from the armored gloves that he wore. Then the glow began to move up his forearm, the light becoming more intense and with it licks of cobalt fire. He kept it there and began to pour more into it; the blazes became bigger. They shot up the rest of the way to his shoulders when he let them go. He could sense how much power he possessed, and it made him feel invincible. The blue flames vibrated and sputtered when he stopped the energy flow, seeing those that he was hired to kill racing across the landscape.

The hostiles.

In physical appearance they were easily recognizable. Their bodies were thin, wiry muscles and ribs always showing, as if they were in a constant state of starvation. Their fur was a very dark black, no matter the species, and markings with splotches of caked and dried blood clumped parts of their fur together. Extremely dangerous and feral creatures, their completely red eyes were the first noticeable feature of them all. As far as anything was known, they had no high purpose or intelligence, nothing more then naturally out of control animals with incredible physical strength, even rivaling the Terveta soldiers.

Just as predicted by Vace they came in a large spread out area towards them from the front. The wolf mumbled something to himself along the line of being disgusted and brought both paws behind to his back. In a crisscross fashion were two massive blades slid into holsters on his armor. His paws wrapped around the handles, fit perfectly for his grip and pulled them from their positions. A cable just an inch thick was attached to the bottom of the hold that ran to the inside of his armor, his own mechanical design. He held the swords just in front of himself, as light as feathers to his physical might.

The screams could be heard as the hostiles got closer, roaring and snarling while they went along like everything was a big game. Some fought for the rush, others for the reason of competition, who'd get to fight who and which ones would get fed. They ran at speeds greater then what the average Terveta could achieve, their bodies a blur almost as much as their legs. Snow spiraled around their bodies from the excess acceleration.
