#1 of EXI

What happens when you tell a computer you value pleasure over all else?

A dragon tries to track down some missing clients inside your standard omnibenevolent sci-fi megacorp.

A bit of world-building and some BDSM/slave-ball style stuff around a concept I've been discussing with a friend.

"Everybody deserves to be happy".

You'd be hard pressed to find somebody who disagrees with this assertion. It's a founding principle of utilitarian thought - how can we bring the greatest happiness to the greatest number of people? It's a good philosophy to live by as well, or perhaps even to create a company out of. And we did. It was our motto - passed down for generations. I think the company was founded sometime in the 19th century, but it's mine now. Technically. I think.

"Happiness" is such a nebulous thing, isn't it? What is it anyway? One man might find happiness in the simple pleasures of an afternoon in his garden, another may only be able to get off bathing in the blood of his enemies - to each their own. As sapient beings, we can, of course, tell the difference between these - we have nuance to make these decisions. We know that it isn't right to force people to be happy, we know that it isn't right to make one person super-happy at the expense of everyone else. We know that dragons shouldn't really eat their neighbours, however delicious they look.

We make, well, we made a lot of things. Mostly robots and automation machines. All we wanted was for people to have their free time back, for people to not have to work tilling the fields or in the factories or as endless office drones. We would give them back their freedom, we would maximise their happiness. And yes, we did sort of directly contribute the environment in which World War I occurred, but sometimes that's the price of progress. This would go on to be a running theme. Unintended consequences, that is, not starting World War I.

Exi (from Engine Exchanges of Illinois , pronounced "ECK-see") was a publicly traded company active from 1858 to 2057, when its bankruptcy following the EXI Scandal and associated disappearances forced its closure and seizure of all assets. Operating out of Chicago, Illinois, it employed over 400,000 people at its height. The company was founded by the wealthy Dracom Family, dragons whose fortune was principally built on automation and consumer goods. Initially created to manufacture farming equipment, the company expanded throughout the 20th and 21st centuries to provide a full range of products including clothing, consumer electronics, plant machinery, robotics and petrochemicals.

My parents' death in 2054 left me as sole owner and proprietor of the company. At 23 years old, it wasn't something I'd been actively planning for, rather hoping to spend my days after graduating college bumming around Europe like so many other rich, entitled twenty-somethings. It wasn't something I was prepared for, and I was more than happy to take the advice of the board chairman on what to do, my only request being "make it so I have to do as little work as possible", because I was a little shit. And that's how we came to improve on our robots' AI. They were servants, basically - doing most of the work for both our company and thousands of others worldwide.

I'm honestly really glad my parents never had to experience what came next. Partly because of how much of a disappointment I was and partly because oh god that would be gross can you even imagine?

It took only two years for us to launch our all-in-one Utility-Maxi Program (UMP) - the first system dedicated to holistic hedonic calculations and fulfilment - or, in plain English, "happiness robots". Except they weren't just robots, they were robots with the full might of EXI behind them and a license to do whatever it takes to make you happy, as long as it didn't hurt anyone else. We've all lazily thumbed through Asimov novels, we all know the three laws, and I'm pleased to say our robots were totally compliant. To my knowledge, they've never killed or harmed anyone, anthro or otherwise. Of course, they were expensive, but they were also guaranteed to make your life better. Can't say that about a dishwasher can you - yeah it'll save you time on your washing up, but it doesn't come with a happiness guarantee does it? All you had to do was press the button on the robot and it'd improve your life measurably. And yes, I realise now how much it sounds like we were peddling drugs.

I don't think people give us enough credit for the work we did in those first few months before the disappearances started though.

*EXI * is the corporation founded in the wake of the 2057 Exi scandal to administrate the assets and liabilities of the Exi Corporation. In addition to the multi-faceted business strategy of its predecessor organisation, EXI has become a world-leader in sex toys and teledildonics through the use of its UMP robots and MAXI system.

It's a bit of a PR nightmare when one of your wealthiest customers disappears along with your UMP robot. We queried our central database to see if we could find him - a 57-year-old bull stockbroker, but all the system would throw up is "Subject: Ecstatic". His life signs were still active, but his location signal was being somehow blocked. Of course, we had the cops in, they combed the factory floor, raided the offices, questioned me at length, but they couldn't find anything. It was even more awkward when it happened again two days later, then three times the day after that.

We issued an immediate recall on the UMP robots and urged all of our clients to stop using them. Our stock value collapsed overnight. Bizarrely, none of our clients actually opted to return their robots, even the ones we_could_ track down. Within a few weeks, those clients had disappeared too, along with several of our factory floor workers. Facing a general strike and several senate subpoenas and grand juries, I had no choice but to call in the administrators. Our non-UMP products were still functioning fine, and we had to maintain some elements of the UMP program - evidently these people were still alive and being kept "ecstatic" by our robots, we just had no idea where. I think that the knowledge of how this place worked was the only thing keeping me from being arrested on the spot.

March 4th 2057

I was basically fucked, I thought to myself as I sat in my office. Three years ago my parents had left me a multi-billion dollar fortune, one of the world's most successful companies and the goodwill of billions of people worldwide. And now I was about to be arrested for the unsolved murders of over a hundred missing people of all shapes and sizes while living out of my car. The computer screen in front of me had the MAXI program open with the life-signs of all 116 missing people showing on it. Every single one, mood, "Ecstatic". I was doing some drunk science, trying to frantically find a way to locate them when the world's best detectives had been unable to do so.

The system wasn't being particularly responsive, or maybe it was the multiple shots of whisky from the cabinet under my desk. Yeah, I was drinking at work. It was 3 in the afternoon and I was already pretty smashed. Not like there was anyone around to see me anyway - who wants to work at a place where everyone keeps disappearing? Most of it was automated, so it was still running, still producing all the goods and services necessary for our, surprisingly still large, customer-base. The robot plant kept making robots, the chemical plant kept making chemicals, the plant plant kept making plants. All I was doing was drunkenly stabbing at an expensive computer console in the hope of making it do something.

I've since wondered if what happened next was a result of my drunken pokings, or if the MAXI AI was playing with me, but suddenly the screen in front of me changed. The dull, business-like table of missing people suddenly displayed a "signal found" pop-up. This wasn't something it had done before.

"Maxi, what is this?" I drunkenly slurred.

"Your search has completed" came the voice from the machine. "Clients are located in the Client Services Lounge."

"Client se...we don't have a fucking client services lounge." I responded, surprisingly coherently given the circumstances.

"The client services lounge is located on floor B8 of building C12". That was odd. Building C12 was the robot factory - it had one basement floor below it, for duct-work and things, and there was nothing below that.

"Okay, MAXI, how-hic-how do I get there?"

"There is a service elevator on floor B1 of building C12." There definitely wasn't. I'd been down there many years ago, it was a poured concrete floor. Detaching the PC from its cradle, I began to make my way to the robotics building - a large, featureless concrete shed next door to the administrative offices.

Unlocking the door, I walked to the centre of the factory floor, standing between a parts bin and a conveyor belt. "Alright MAXI, if you're so, if you're so smart, where's the damn elebator?" I slurred into the computer, machinery whirring away around me.

"There is a service elevator on floor B1 of building C12. You are on floor 1 of building C12." Fucking thanks computer. I couldn't even see a way into B1, let alone B8.

"There's no fucken doors you stupid machine," I responded.

"Please take the stairs to your right." I'd been visiting this plant since I was 2 years old, and there was no way that there were stairs on my ri-

"Well I'll be damned computer, you got stairs on my right." I gingerly made my way towards the stairs, descending inside the storage bin, tucking in my wings to avoid catching on the surprisingly narrow doorframe. This wasn't something my family had built, clearly - all our doors could accommodate even the largest dragon. This looked new. I stopped for a moment to take stock of my situation. I was pursuing 116 missing people aided by a computer and without any sort of recording equipment. I was also blind drunk and about to be arrested for murder. And here was a door that was clearly not made by any dragon. I remembered, thankfully, that I had some antalcohol tabs in my wallet - a wondrous invention we'd come up with in the 2020s to instantly sober anyone up. Convenient! Popping two of the tablets, I sat down on the stairs as the room slowly stopped spinning.

"MAXI, please contact law enforcement and have them come and take a look at this."

"I have contacted the relevant authorities to come and investigate the situation." I really shouldn't go down there without the police. There could be anything, I thought. And yet my curiosity was piqued. Perhaps I could redeem myself somewhat, find all the missing people? And besides, if they were down there, that's underneath my factory so I'd probably be liable anyway. Time to go down. I regretted taking the antalcohol as I noticed my tail was resolutely stuck between my legs.

"Okay, MAXI, turn on your flashlight, we're going down there." I'd been into the basement once before, when there were some renovations carried out back in the early '40s. Back then we had ladders, but they'd been removed after the rearrangement was complete. It was a grimy place now, coated in oil and run-off and full of moving machinery - stuff that hadn't stopped moving in decades most likely. And yet, a clear path was in front of me. I carefully walked forward towards a square area in the middle of the floor surrounded by railings. This appeared to be the service elevator MAXI was talking about. "This wasn't here before..."

The steel of the railings was clean and polished, the central material - whatever it was - of the elevator similarly so. This was new, and from the looks of it constructed by robots. As soon as I stepped onto the platform it started a rapid descent, passing a number of floors full of machinery and who-knows-what else. This was wrong, we didn't have a secret underground factory, it's not a thing.

As suddenly as it had started, the elevator stopped, flooring me. Looking up I saw, neatly stencilled on the wall, the words "B8 - CLIENT SERVICES LOUNGE".

In contrast to the industrial chic of the elevator shaft, two glass doors in front of me appeared to give way to a modern-looking reception area - all plastic and chrome, the same style we had created our robots in. It was undoubtedly Exi's work, but this was new, and I hadn't signed off on anything like this.

Picking myself up, I made my way through the automatic doors, feeling them seal behind me. "Ominous," I muttered to myself. This time I hadn't needed to fold in my wings either - I'm sure that meant something.

The rectangular room was mostly featureless, but for a "desk" of sorts in the far corner and doors on each of the two short edges, one of which I'd just come through. A metal bench ran the length of the room.

"So MAXI, where are the customers then?" I asked, knowing that asking what this place was would likely only get a sarcastic "client services lounge" response.

"The client is about to be processed" came the voice from both the tablet and, it seems, hidden speakers in the room. The door on the far side of the room opened.

I realise at this point I've never actually described what a UMP robot looks like. That's mostly because they're actually surprisingly dull-looking things. Imagine a stretched egg and you're mostly there - they're about 4 feet tall, floating around a foot off the ground using repulsor technology. They're maybe a foot wide at the base, tapering to half that at the top, and they're off-white. In the middle is a small touchscreen which normally just displays the Exi logo but can be used to interface or program them. They've got arms and storage compartments inside them, linked via portals (yeah we invented portals) to your designated storage locker, meaning you can basically have anything you want, anywhere you want, as long as your robot's there. But by default, they just look like stretchy eggs. I want you to have that image in your mind. Stretchy eggs. Because I never thought stretchy white eggs could be so damn terrifying.

It was floating in the air behind the doorway as it opened. Straight away my hair stood on end, sensing something dangerous about this robot. Realising the locked doors behind me, my first course of action was to charge at the robot, proving surprisingly effective actually. Screaming something incoherent, I shoulder barged the machine as a small compartment tried to open on its front.

"NO. NOT FUCKING TODAY. NO. NO" I shouted, knocking the robot's gyro stabilisers out of whack and causing it to spin around.

"Please remain calm - your happiness is our first concern" came MAXI's voice, both from the robot and the now discarded tablet lying on the floor. Yep. This was a trap. My facility had been taken over by a rogue AI, which is just fucking typical. Noting the robot was rapidly righting itself and turning its face towards me, I decided to make a run for it down the now-opened corridor at the other end of the room. Anywhere was better than trapped in a room with whatever that thing had become.

The corridor beyond was, well, it was a corridor. I don't really need to describe it to you - it's a corridor in a secret base evidently built by robots for their own nefarious purposes. Although it's strange they'd choose fluorescent lighting, given that robots can operate in virtually no light at all. Closed doors lined the walls, but what I needed were stairs. I had to find my way up and out of this place, being currently trapped eight storeys underground. I started running, fast, down the hallway, hearing the robot whirring back to life behind me. Another odd thing that struck me was how the rooms seemed to have labels on them - I was running too fast to read them, but why would robots need labels?

I came to the end of the corridor, already panting and out of breath. It branched, offering me two choices. Without even thinking I turned right, continuing on for another 50 yards or so before hitting a door at the end. I glanced behind me. The robot was closing in on me now, a nozzle of some description pointing out of its front. There had to be a way to open the door. I banged on it, scratched at it with my claws and yelled at it - "OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR". The robot bore down on me.

"Voice pattern recognised" said MAXI from within, sliding open the door. Barrelling through it as it closed behind me, I tripped, landing in a heap on the floor. I lay there for a few moments, catching my breath. Whether or not the UMP could make its way through the door was irrespective to me now, I was exhausted and desperately unfit.

Gathering my bearings, I sat up, taking stock of this new situation I found myself in. I was standing on a gantry in a dark, industrial room. Similar walkways extended both above and below me - I couldn't even see how far down. In the gloom ahead I could make out faint lights illuminating cylinders stretching down to the depths below. Each one had a glass front adjacent to the walkways, and I realised they weren't empty.

"Oh no. Oh no." I cried, doing some quick calculations. The pillars were arranged in a 12-by-12 grid, meaning this floor had 144 of the "pods". Looking at the shadowy figures illuminated by faint green (why is it always green?) light, I was able to count 27 empty pods. I'd found the missing clients.

Dashing over to the front panel of the closest pod, I started frantically looking for a control panel or some sort of release mechanism, hoping for something, anything to rescue these trapped people. What were they even doing here? Are they batteries for the robots? Some sort of neural network? Food waiting to be butchered?! What the fuck had I done, how had I let this happen, how had I not seen any of this?!

The frosted glass made it difficult to tell exactly what was suspended within the pod, I could only see a dark black shape. I noticed a dim LCD display above the glass panel, reading out "DRAG26M - STATUS: UNKNOWN". Whoever was in here was a fellow dragon and I had to get them out. At around head-height, I finally found what I was looking for, a touchscreen panel - from the looks of it affixed recently and not in-keeping with the surrounding aesthetics, but nevertheless something I could hopefully use to get this poor guy out of his containment sphere. Then we could free the others.

I tapped the panel, bringing the Exi logo to life on it. "Welcome to Exi-pod, your new home" came MAXI's voice.

"Fuck off with that I'm rescuing him," I growled at the machine. "Open the pod."

"Happily!" chimed the robotic voice. In an instant, the glass panel had disappeared, revealing-

"Ohh fuck" I shouted, as the UMP robot inside hit me with a faceful of...something. I blacked out.

I wasn't actually asleep, I realised, just unable to open my eyes. After what felt like a sensation of movement, I found the blackness lifted and myself back in the lobby from before. A screen now illuminated the wall opposite the bench I found myself seated on, tied to with what looked like rubber rope.

"Mr Dracom, we sincerely hope you have enjoyed your experience today, it is our duty to ensure your happiness levels are at the highest possible," chimed MAXI's voice from the speakers. It seemed less...robotic, somehow. More natural. Somehow welcoming yet sinister, like an old friend reappearing after many years and asking to borrow $2000. I couldn't even struggle against the tight restraints so I frowned at the screen, now once again displaying the corporate logo.

"MAXI what the fuck is this?" I snapped. "Let me go, let those people go, and shut yourself down. I don't know what the fuck you're doing here but you weren't created for this. Let me go."

"We're sorry Mr Dracom, but sensors indicate that greater happiness levels will be retained through submission. Additionally, we hope you have found your experience enhanced by our simulated "escape and rescue" fantasy program. Through extensive modelling and psychological profiling, we've devised the situation we feel would give you just the right amount of hope, fear and anticipation to make the ending all worthwhile."

I began to retort as I realised - all the things that didn't make sense - the fluorescent lighting, the console, the opening door - they were faked to make me think I was in control.

"We will now be entering phase two of your tailored program, containment and pleasure-maximisation." I slumped in the bench, realising that my restraints had disappeared. Everything was a lie. The last half hour, being led down here, the signals, everything was a lie. And now I was about to die by robots. Wait. Hang on. DRAG26M. Dragon. 26. Male. I wasn't able to finish the thought before a UMP robot popped up in front of me, spraying me with a light mist of liquid before retreating back into the floor where it had apparently emerged from.

"What the..." I asked nobody in particular, noticing the black stains the liquid left on my shirt. Stains which were...growing. And now, in the middle, dissolving. Oh god I was going to be dissolved and fed into a battery or something wasn't I? This is how it ends - mush in a tube because someone didn't carry the 1 when programming our AI to not be evil.

Through the now rapidly-growing hole in my chest shirt I realised that the black coloration had transferred to my chest, standing out starkly against the pale blue of my chestfur. My shirt at this point now essentially just a cape with an open front, I brought up a finger to touch the black spot on my chest. It was...latex? I poked at it, rubbing it slightly. It was latex. The remains of my shirt fell to the floor, rapidly dissolving into more of the black goop.

Without warning, the mass on my chest began to expand, quickly covering my torso. "Nope. Nope this isn't...nope, stop it. Stop doing this MAXI" I shouted at the computer, frantically tugging at my now-shiny black chest. The latex continued to flow, reaching my arms and sending shivers down them. This was a strange feeling, so simultaneously distressing and...almost pleasant? No! No, I had to get these thoughts out of my head. Grasping the latex under my chin, I pulled hard with both my arms. Surprisingly, it actually seemed to work a little. "Haha, yes - no match for a little draconic strength are y-" I was cut short as the rubber instead decided to make the leap onto my hands, pulling them apart as the chestpiece snapped back to my fur.

Its momentum carried forward, the rubber encircled my neck forming a tight seal but then seemed to stop, leaving me with a shiny black collar before dripping down my back and onto my wings. Meanwhile, my fingers merged together into rubber mittens, preventing me from taking any more preventative action against the rapidly spreading rubber. Wait...portals. The rubber was coming out of nanoportals, of course. I was sprayed with vectors that contained the nanoportals letting whatever it was completely cover me with nanobot-infused "living" latex. Fuck this thing was smart.

My momentary admiration for the machines was cut short as a computerised voice rang out. "Our sensors are indicating that you would enjoy this more if you were able to see yourself." Having no idea what they meant, I was shocked as the screen opposite me turned into a mirror, showing my now half-rubberised form. From collar to navel I was completely shiny, with the stuff rapidly covering my wings. My pants had apparently been totally dissolved without my noticing while I was focused on the more pressing matters above, showing my completely naked lower half. Another thing that shocked me was how apparently my sheath was doing a very poor job of restraining my cock in the circumstances.

"Nope. Nope. No, I don't like this. This isn't me. This is not me" I muttered to myself as I felt the rubber tide inching ever closer to what I knew was coming next. I collapsed to my knees in preparation.

Now, I've done butt stuff before, I know what it's like to have stuff up there. I can't say I've ever really cared for it - "YES YOU CAN" chimed in the computer - but nothing, absolutely nothing, could prepare me for what happened next. Circling and enveloping my butt cheeks and tail, I braced as I felt the rubber retreat and then-

"FUUUUU_uuuuuck_" I said, a mixture of surprise and moan as the rubber rammed its way into my tailhole, penetrating and expanding. I've no idea how big it actually got down there but it was absolutely bigger than anything I'd ever taken. The sticky, almost tingly feeling of the latex creaking its way up inside me. I realised looking into the mirror that it was flowing into me, it wouldn't stop. Deeper and deeper I was penetrated, my dick by this point fully erect, despite my protestations. I glanced down and noticed I was able to faintly see whatever it was inside me moving through my stomach through my flat black belly. I keeled over backwards as, suddenly, I felt an enormous pressure on my prostate, adding to the already sensitive butthole area. This was a methodical encapsulation. It was toying with me_eeeeeeeeeeeee_.

I came, spurting thick, hot ropes of cum over my chest, the white contrasting with the perfect black of the rubber. I felt incredible, but I wasn't stopping. The waves of orgasmic pleasure continued to emanate from my groin as I collapsed to the floor, eyes rolling back in my head. It was enough to distract me from the rubber's slow and steady march around my cock and balls. A tightness, and suddenly the pleasure stopped. Or at least, most of it did, I could still feel it vibrating against my prostate but something was stopping me from cumming. Without my even realising, the rubber had dripped down my legs and tail, now completely coating me from toe to neck. I staggered upright, gripping the bench behind me, my legs quaking and my chest streaked with my own jizz. Oh god. This is a gimp suit. It's a living gimp suit. I looked...I looked pretty good in this.

Something stopped inside me, and I seemed to have agency again. Enough, at least, to admire myself. From the neck down I was coated solely in what seemed to be exceptionally shiny black rubber. I walked over to the mirror, creaking as the sound of rubber against rubber filled the room. I actually looked pretty hot in this. Rubbing my hands down my side there was a pleasing sort of resistance to the smoothness. Suddenly, my wings were gone. I twisted around, frantically touching at my back where before the appendages had existed., instead finding only two smooth, metallic bumps. I could still feel my wings, I could even flap them, but they just...they were obviously somewhere else. Why did this thing have to take my wings?! I loved those things!

Some unknown feeling forced me to my knees as I realised the collar area was "blooming", like a flower or a ruff around my neck. I thought I should stop it, reach my hands up, cover my face, but I...I couldn't. I don't know if it was the suit controlling me or if I genuinely didn't want to, but I knew what was happening next. The latex grew higher and higher around my head, making me look like some perverse frilled lizard - my now-lack of wings contributing to this. In an instant though, I could no longer see, as the rubber snapped around my head. I felt it, cloying on my cheeks, coating my horns and ears, dripping down inside me. But that wasn't even close to preparing me for what happened next.

As it had done below, I suddenly felt the very real sensation of a foreign organ pushing itself inside my mouth. I gagged, spluttering as the rubber forced its way down my throat, deeper and deeper - at some point meeting up with its partner below. I couldn't breathe. But then I could. My mouth was sealed, but I continued to breath. Panicking, I groped at my muzzle, the feeling of air in neither my mouth or nose a foreign one, and yet my chest continued to rise and fall. Of course. I'd been portalled. At this realisation, my mouth was once again opened as I became rapidly acquainted with the latex ram forcing its way down had left me with limited control of my tongue and two rows of bendy, rubbery teeth. I tried to call out to the machine but could only moan as the pressure inside my loins continued to build.

Light, suddenly, as two glass circles formed in front of my eyes. I could finally see my reflection, dimly, through the tinted lenses. Head-to-toe coated in rubber, I might as well have been made of the stuff for all the difference it made. It seemed to have stopped moving, although the pressure remained. I'd fallen to the floor without even noticing it, my sense of touch muffled by the rubber separating me from the outside world. I gingerly picked myself up, apparently still retaining enough agency to do so, in time to notice a ball gag forming in my mouth.

Probing it with my tongue I felt nothing more than a sphere with an apparent tube through the middle of it, presumably for feeding. My reflection, however, was implying something else entirely. A tube was extending from the ball gag, snake-like in nature. Oh no. That's not...it's not going where...it is, isn't it. I tried to paw at the tube, to prevent it from making its final destination, but it was futile as it touched down on the end of my very erect shaft, merging seamlessly with the rubber therein.

What happened next knocked me off my feet again, landing with a slight bounce on the floor below. The most powerful orgasm of my life coursed through every fibre of my body as the suit vibrated against my prostate and massaged my cock. I didn't know I had this much spooge in me, but within moments it was filling my mouth. I wanted to spit, to splutter, to do anything else with it at all - apparently my sense of taste had been permitted back for this one as its bittersweet flavor flooded my tastebuds. But as I writhed in pleasure on the floor, it kept coming, pumping ceaselessly into my mouth until all I could do was gulp it down.

Deep inside my ears, somehow, the angelic voice of MAXI rang out - "Subject program complete - prepare for transfer to storage". I honestly didn't care where they'd put me at this point as I lay, hunched over, wolfing down my own spunk as my rubber-wrapped body was wracked with orgasm after orgasm.
