Now, I realise I got these backwards. Please, don't tell anyone at Bethesda.

Pelletine:

The Warrior Empire

"Eshita grew up there, you know. She knows it like the back of her paw. And believe her...it's better this way."

-Eshita

Pelletine. Though I myself have never been to Pelletine, having grown up my whole life in Anequina (4), I have heard tell of it from such individuals as Dar'mhirr (15) and my sister (7). According to them, Pelletine differs vastly from Anequina. The geography of the entirety of Elsweyr consists of two types of terrain: sandy and jungle. Pelletine consists of more jungle than their neighbours in Anequina, but they still share in the blistering deserts that people know Elsweyr for. Many places in Elsweyr are tropical, bountiful places, like Khenarthi's Roost, where Dar'mhira (19) washed ashore and was rescued by Razum-dar (20), one of the eyes of the queen. Pelletine is the home of the tropics, considering that the province holds all the southern coast. The cities of Senchal, Torval (Elsweyr's capital), Alabaster and Corinth can all be found in Pelletine. Wood Elves are fairly common here as well, as Pelletine borders Valenwood almost up to the Anequina city of Dune.

Pelletine and Anequina were once separate states, a problem remedied by Queen Ayrenn, when she was the Queen of the Aldmeri Dominion, back in an age long past. Ayrenn helped unite the two nations after the Knahaten flu decimated my people. Pelletine and Anequina split from each other, in part, due to differences in philosophy. The Northern kingdom, Anequina, was a merchant empire, while Pelletine was a warrior kingdom. As warriors, the Pelletine Khajiit held great respect for our beast-like brethren (5), and used them to great effect. However, the northern kingdom held quadruped Khajiit in lower esteem as most could not talk with anything other than gestures or the complex sign-language that they use to speak to each other. Not sign-language so much, but ear and tail positions, body language, etc. I'm sure you see the point.

This was a large factor in the war to come. When Pelletine invaded, Anequina bought help in the form of the Imperials and a basic stalemate occurred. Eventually, the Knahaten Flu struck and killed off many Khajiit. In the aftermath, Ayrenn united our two empires and Elsweyr became a stronger nation because of it.

Now, Elsweyr is still united. But the two provinces still have histories to trade on. Pelletine is still known for producing the best warriors of Elsweyr and Anequina still produces merchant kings. The most common accent held of Khajiit here in Skyrim is the Anequina accent, which makes sense as the only Khajiit really up here travel in merchant caravans, under the head of the merchant king of Elsweyr, Ri'saad.

I've seen a few Khajiit to break the stereotype mold of accents in Skyrim. Midnight (12), born a slave in Morrowind, has a strong Dunmer accent. Likewise, Dro'amoreth (8), my cousin, has a Nord accent. Not too strong, but audible. He was born in Skyrim. And Dar'mhirr also holds an accent, specifically, that of Pelletine. He lived in Anequina, but he held his Pelletine accent for reasons unknown.

Elsweyr, o my Elsweyr

How I long for thee

Where warriors Pelletine-born

Fight abroad for you

My Elsweyr

Home you shall always be

Though far may I go

The forests of Torval

And Deserts of Dune

My Elsweyr
