Chapter 2

Cold air had taken over and summer had passed, fall was now in its place. Dead branches and dried leaves were now what most of the trees seemed to consist of. Luckily my birthday landed in September so Sean could plan our picnic.

November had swept the town over with rain, snow and clouds black as could be. No more sunshine till spring, I though to myself.

I opened the front door of my house and was greeted by autumn chills. I wrapped my scarf around my neck and started walking onto the light snow that covered my front yard. I began walking towards my silver Honda and then unlocked it and stepped inside. I got inside and rubbed my snout and shivered. I looked at myself in the rear-view mirror and shed a crooked smile to myself.

I turned the ignition of the car and started to drive off away form my house. As I exited my neighborhood I approached a red-light. I started fumbling with the radio stations as the red-light continued. I couldn't find a station and turned off the radio. I sighed and then pressed the pedal once the light had turned green. As the driving continued I approached another red-light and remembered that I had my iTrip and my iPod in the car. I searched in the glove-box, it wasn't there. I checked in the console and found them. I plugged my iPod into the iTrip, tuned it to the right station and began playing Death Cab's album, "We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes." I sang along to "Title Track" and then started driving again.

I entered Sean's neighborhood which was pillared with autumn trees looming over the long dark street. The street was inhabited with leaves that flew everywhere when my car tires ran through them. I stopped at Sean's house and honked the horn twice. I visualized up into the overcast and saw gray clouds vastly moving from the wind that was baring the trees outside.

I went back to my iPod and switched from Death Cab to Jack Johnson. The light guitar and his lyrical voice relaxed me and I sunk back into my seat and continued waiting for Sean.

Sean finally showed up and opened the passenger door to my Honda. He stepped inside and we greeted each other with a kiss.

"Hey Neoj. Ready for school," Sean asked.

"Yup. I'm dreading my history exam, though," I replied.

"You'll do fine, don't worry."

I cracked a smile and I began driving to school. Sean scratched behind his ears. And then started hacking and rolled down my window and spat.

"Aren't I the loveliest wolf ever," Sean asked sarcastically.

"Yes you are," I replied with a smile.

"Well you're the cutest fox ever," Sean replied.

I blushed. We approached the school parking lot and I found a spot and then parked. I turned of my iPod then my car.

Sean and I both stepped out and lunged are heavy backpacks over our soon to be aching shoulders. We both walked towards the entrance of Moon Creek High. Sean grabbed my hand and I smiled and wrapped my arm around him and rested my head on his shoulder as we walked.

The day was a blur of unnecessary collegiate lectures from teachers and being deprived of Sean because he was sent home for feeling ill made the day worse. Sean being gone left me ennui. My head was racing with unconscious ideas and optimistic thoughts, my whole day was me pretending to listen and just keep daydreaming. I dreamed I was an aeronaut for a hot-air balloon flying me and Sean with accolades of our love exposing. I started having anomaly daydreams then drifted to more simplistic ones. I forced myself to pay attention for my history exam and once I finished I quickly rushed back to daydreams.

** The day was finally over, thank god its Friday I thought to myself. I went to my car and unlocked and stepped inside to greet the trifle of warmth left in the air from this mornings drive with the heat on. I turned on my car as well as my iTrip and iPod and turned Port Blue on which was the instrumental music of my dreams, it left me in an** equanimity mood.

The drive home was relaxing and the warmth of my house felt so good on my fur. I ran up the staircase of my house and entered my room and shut and locked the door. I threw my backpack to the floor and jumped onto my bed and scrambled my cell-phone out of my pocket. I went to my contact list and went to Sean's name (with a smiley face next to it) and pressed call. The phone rang about 3 times till Sean's voice came on and it sounded like he was talking to someone, I heard his mom say, "Sean just take the medicine it's not that bad." I chuckled a bit.

"H, hello," Sean finally said, "who is this?"

"It's me, Neoj." I replied.

"Mom, I am not going to take that medicine get it out of my face right now," Sean shouted to his mother. "Tell Neoj I said hi," his mother said and the walked away and slammed the door as she exited his room.

"Sorry for that faux pas, I just hate medicine," Sean said.

"It's okay," I chuckled. "You feeling okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine, just a little sick to my stomach."

"Well it is flu season, what can you expect. Sorry you're not feeling so hot but everyone knows you're hot on the outside and the inside."

"Thanks I needed that."

"That was kind of cheesy."

"Not too bad."

"Haha, so... what are you up to?"

"Lying in bed, bored to tears, how about you?"

"Ah, same old, same old. Hey Sean, I had pretty cool daydream today."

"What is it about, what happened in it?"

"Well, well it was...it was just weird but it involved me being the aeronaut of a hot-air balloon and we were flying away from the earth just so we could be alone and well we got our alone time."

** "How aeronautical," Sean replied.**

** "Yes, very," I said with a laugh.**

** A loud thunder boomed outside which made me jump. "Did you here that?" I asked Sean excitedly.**

** "Holly hell, that was loud." Sean replied.**

** I gazed out my bedroom window and saw light raindrops falling from the black clouds above. The wind began to blow and leaves went everywhere. A whole scurry of leaves roughly cascaded over my front lawn and then on to the damp pavement of my sidewalk. A few had even blown and reached my window; the leaves tried to stay hold of the window but were blown away. I was mesmerized by the storm occurring outside.**

** "Pretty creepy out there," Sean's voice said, now a little static-filled.**

** "I think were breaking up, the connection doesn't sound so good," I said into the receiver.**

** "W, wait what, I didn't quite catch that," Sean said.**

** I heard a click noise, "H, hello. Sean are you there? Hello?" I checked my phone, the call was dropped. I sighed and looked aft into the gloomy Friday. What was light rain had turned into heavy rain, now punishing the ground. All through-out my house I could here heavy rain pounding against the windows and the roof.**

** I for sure thought it was cold enough to snow but it was only forty-nine degrees outside.**

** My house was quiet and no one was home, this was a silence my house usually held on rainy days and I thought it so strange that my house was in-fact always quiet on rainy days. Geez, not a soul insight anywhere I thought to myself. The only thing I could here was the heavy rain outside and my own breathing.**

** Again the same thought the crosses my mind every now and then had crossed my mind again, "No more sunshine till spring," I said to myself. **

Hope you enjoyed! I'm still setting the mood and relationship foundation so it's not too exciting yet. Also note this is going to be a short story not a big book!

Thanks for reading! :)
