"Stone Hard in the Canyon"

The waters under the skiff were the first thing that Gryph heard as he awoke from his stone sleep. Just as always, the thin cracks across his body exploded out as his flesh was returned to the world of the waking with a resounding roar that filled the sky. Looking forward, he noticed that there was water in front of them, turning back, he eyed Arthur sitting behind him. A knowing glance from the old king showed that he'd only grown more used to Gryph's explosion from stone in the months they'd been traveling together. Still, the gargoyle found it tedious; Traveling on land by day to find that there seemed to be no purpose to their place in the world, then to travel out into the water at night and return to Avalon for another chance to go where the island deemed to send them. But where had it sent them this time?

A mist had formed around the raft, indicating its magical journey through the night as Arthur stood and lifted a lantern in an attempt to see what was in front of them. The sun had truly just gone down, but still the blanket of darkness that filled the sky seemed to jut them into pitch blackness.

"Where're we now?" Gryph asked, squinting his eyes to try and see better.

"I'm not sure, but--"

Arthur's words were cut off by a grunt as the boat suddenly jerked forward, sending him toppling toward the bow; instinctively, Gryph caught him before he fell over the front, and to their surprise, it appeared they had run aground. "You alright, your majesty?" He asked.

Arthur smirked. "Gryph, we are traveling companions now and I trust friends as well. You can simply call me Arthur."

Gryph hummed a bit. "It'd take a bit of getting used to, but I can try, your m--Arthur." He corrected himself.

"It would seem we've reached the end of the river that brought us here."

"That little trickle? I thought Avalon only sent its travelers to great sources of water."

"It seems even Avalon's magic is out of our understanding." The man said. "It does deposit us into lakes on occasion, it seems that drying riverbeds are not off the menu for where it could take us."

Gryph sniffed the air as the two disembarked. "Something smells strange, could it be smoke?"

"Well. I suppose we'd better find out." Arthur said as he too stepped off the boat and felt the softer sand under his boots. "The sand is soft here, perhaps the river fills back in on tide. But we're both fairly hungry--" He paused as Gryph's stomach rumbled as if on cue. The gargoyle placed a hand on his belly, the short green fur on his face hiding the blush of embarrassment. "Some of us more than others... perhaps we could barter for a place to eat and sleep."

"Arthur!"

Gryph lunged forward suddenly as he pushed the king out of the way, a figure leaping from the darkness had caught his attention and with a deft raising of his arm, caught the jaws of the beast. He yowled in pain but swung his arm to throw the beast away from him.

It was a curious creature to say the least, though Gryph only caught a glimpse for a moment before realizing its tail was on fire, glowing in the darkness behind him as he landed, then turned and with a growl leaped toward them again.

Gryph raised his arm again, but the beast quickly changed its strike pattern and spiraled to the left, landing on the ground before throwing himself toward the gargoyle and slashing what appeared to be a band of feathers across his chest. "AHHH!" Gryph stumbled back momentarily shocked by the pain as he felt a gash open on his chest "Alright then! You've had your shots I hope!" He entered a ready stance as the beast ran toward them again. To his surprise though, there was a flash of green light and suddenly a wave of earth jumped up from in front of him and he followed in its wake like a dolphin riding the wake of a wave of water. "What in the--?"

"HAH!" The beast exclaimed as the earth rose and flew at the gargoyle, colliding with him so hard that Gryph flew backwards. He then cried out as slashes exploded across his chest.

Hurriedly, Gryph could feel the wind strike his wings and he had a split second to open them and lift himself out of attacking range. "What the?!" He heard the beast exclaim.

"Hold up." He mused aloud as he turned around and watched the creature take another jump toward him. Swooping to the side, Gryph grabbed the beast by the paw, swung him up high and then brought him back down toward the ground with enough force that it could have killed most men. Instead the beast clutched at Gryph's hand, pinned under the gargoyle's superior weight. "You can talk?!" He asked, sounding a lot more surprised than he had intended.

"Let me go, beast!" The creature scowled, scratching at Gryph's arm and making the gargoyle wince in pain. "Or you will not live to see another dawn!"

"I'm a gargoyle, mate." He said. "We don't see many dawns, like ever."

"Gryph, are you okay?"

"A human?" He asked in surprise. "You are traveling together?"

"Yes, we are." Arthur said. "I am Arthur Pendragon; rightful King of England."

The creature's face contorted in confusion. "England? What is that? I've never heard of such a place..."

Gryph was breathing heavily as his hand pressed down on the beast's chest. "Are... you done attacking us?"

Arthur held the lantern up toward the beast, and he was an odd looking one. Fire-red fur with a scar over his right eye, making it useless. He was covered in tribal markings that littered his arms and legs. The only exception was the roman numeral of '13' marked as an 'XIII' on his left shoulder that appeared somewhat newer and in a different type of font that appeared to emulate the rest of them. The head dress he wore jingled a bit as he glanced up at the two. "Are you two finished staring?" He asked. "What are you doing here?"

"We've..." Arthur said, looking at his boat. "We've traveled a long way to get here, we are wondering if we might find a place to eat and sleep for the night?"

"My grandfather often welcomes travelers, but you both come from the east..." He peered at the boat. "On a boat that... came from nowhere?"

"We traveled down the river." Gryph said. "We don't mean any harm."

"Except I'm trying to figure out why you'd travel a mile down a nearly dried up river." He said with a sigh. "I am Nanaki, protector of Cosmo Canyon as my father was before me. If you meant no harm, I apologize for attacking."

"No harm done." Arthur said.

Gryph scoffed, gesturing to his several cuts. "Speak for yourself!" He exclaimed.

Arthur resisted a smirk. "Don't worry, it'll all be straightened up by morning."

"Still, I can tend to your wounds, stranger."

Gryph chuckled, not realizing he hadn't introduced himself yet. "The name's Gryph." He said.

The three of them walked along the dark path until they reached a trail at the base of the mound above the canyon. Walking up silently behind the beast, it was hard for either of them to make out if he was more canine or feline, but neither really pointed it out until they reached the halfway point. "Excuse me for asking, Nanaki... but I can't help but ask; what are you?"

Nanaki paused and looked back with an eyebrow raised. "What am I? What sort of a question is that? I am... what I am."

"Nanaki? Is that you?" A large man by the archway leading into the compound spoke up as they approached the light.

"Yes, and I have found a pair of strangers that are traveling by." He responded. "I'm sure grandpa would not mind them spending the night."

The man looked at Arthur, then at Gryph. To the gargoyle's surprise, he didn't scream in terror at the sight of him, but merely turned his gaze back to the beast. "Alright, if you trust them I don't see any issue with it."

"I owe them." Nanaki said, before turning to the others. "You're welcome to explore as much as you want, Arthur. I will help tend to Gryph's wounds so he can join you."

"Thank you." Arthur said, giving Gryph a pat on the shoulder and noticing the look he gave him. "Don't worry Gryph. I can take care of myself."

"If you need anything, just call out and I'll be there, your majesty." Gryph replied in a more serious tone.

Arthur smiled. "Of course."

Gryph followed Nanaki on his direction as they entered the campsite, he looked up in awe at the large observatory that loomed overhead, its wide dish partly blocking the brightness of the full moon climbing the night sky and a little red beacon light on top told him that wherever this place was, it definitely wasn't home. He looked at the beast, realizing that he was quite large in size, more wolf-like in size than that of a typical cat or dog. His fiery tail swaying from side to side and a pair of balls dangling down between his legs as they--no, no it's rude to stare, Gryph thought as they walked. He'd never seen something like Nanaki, and it would be awkward to start asking the questions that began to flood his mind. He cleared his throat as he came up with another question.

"So, Nanaki. What continent is this?" He asked.

"Continent?" Nanaki responded. "It doesn't really have much of a name, as it makes up one of the two largest land masses on Gaia; we simply call it the "Western Continent"."

"Gaia?" Gryph repeated. "You mean we're not on Earth?"

Nanaki looked at him confused. "Of course we're on earth." He padded his foot against the ground. "It is what makes our world walkable."

"No, no... not earth as in the ground mate. I mean Earth as in the planet."

"What?" Nanaki looked even more confused.

"Nevermind." Gryph sighed putting a hand against his face before speaking more to himself. "I guess the magic of Avalon isn't restricted to our world after all...?"

"Here we are." Nanaki said. The pair had entered a small room with a plush pile of cushions at the back of it, separated from the tunnel they'd gone through by a layer of cloth for privacy. "Let me get a bath ready for you, we can clean you to better clean your wounds."

Gryph smirked a bit. "You want me to get naked?"

Nanaki returned the smirk with a double brow-raise. "You bathe in your clothes where you come from?"

"Nah I just... didn't think you'd need the excuse." Gryph said as he tugged at the jerkin around his torso and pulled it up over his head. He winced at the pain from the wound in his chest as Nanaki filled a tub with water from a spout. "Won't that be a bit cold?" Gryph asked as he unbuckled his belt.

"Heh." Nanaki made a knowing sound as he extracted a small red stone and dropped it into the water, immediately causing it to bubble. "I just need to add enough cold water to counteract the magic in the materia and keep it warm. That's all."

"You're speaking in tongues." Gryph teased.

"Do you not use materia where you come from?"

"I'm not sure what ...materia is. On Earth people barely know what magic is in general."

"Really? That's a shame."

Nanaki watched as Gryph pulled his pants down, as little to the imagination as Gryph's outfit left, it was rather enjoyable to see a fleshy shaft dip from the black outfit. Gryph turned away and placed his clothes together. He noticed the very lion-like tail and rather well toned muscle of his backside and immediately Nanaki felt his own sheath peeking head a bit. He cleared his throat and averted his eyes a moment, trying to make it seem like he wasn't watching. Gryph briskly walked across the room and dipped his foot into the water, extracting it and reinserting it more carefully as a hiss slipped from his beak. "Ouch, you're right." He said. "That's surprisingly hotter than I expected."

"That's an interesting accent you have." Nanaki said as Gryph carefully edged himself into the water and began to splash his wounds with it. "Does everyone talk like that on Earth?"

"Nah. Just us lucky ones in good ol' England." He responded before looking at the confused look on Nanaki's face. "It's a country."

"Ah." Nanaki realized as he dug into a basket near the tub. He withdrew a small bottle and gave it to Gryph. "Soap, it should help clean the cuts, I have some gauze around here somewhere. But you'll need to put that on yourself, I'm not as dextrous as a human or a gargoyle for that matter."

"I'm sure you're pretty talented in other ways." Gryph responded coyly without really thinking. "Erm... I didn't mean that the way it sounded though--crap."

"I get around." Nanaki teased, looking along the gargoyle's body unabashedly. "You don't look so bad though though, for a two-leg."

Gryph tried to smirk off the compliment as he finished off cleaning with the soap and began to wash his face as he looked up and he noticed that Nanaki had disappeared. "Nanaki?" He asked as he reached for a towel provided for him and stood up. As he stepped out of the tub, he felt a sudden weight come at him from behind. "Whoa!" He cried out as he fell forward and landed hard on the ground. Quickly looking over his shoulder he noticed Nanaki was behind him, an arm draped over his hip with a smirk on his face. "Well hey there." He said. "What do you think you're doing?"

"I don't know." Nanaki teased, pressing the tip of his rather firm shaft against the underside of Gryph's exposed balls. "I figured since you're here, I could try it with a two-leg."

"Issat so?"

Gryph turned onto his back, carefully adjusting his bird-like wings to lay almost completely flat on the floor as he lifted his leg over the beast's head. The gargoyle was already growing hard, his already-thick shaft getting thicker with each pulse of arousal that surged through it. Nanaki climbed a bit onto the gargoyle's torso, letting his fur-covered balls lay a bit over the shaft if nothing but to feel it thicken under him as the two grinned at each other. "You sure no one's gonna come in on us?" He asked.

Nanaki looked at the entrance to the room for a moment. "I don't know." He said, looking at Gryph. "You expecting someone to come into my room?"

Gryph smirked and pulled the canid into a kiss. It was an awkward kiss; a bird-beak against Nanaki's muzzle, but somehow they made it work, Nanaki stretched his neck and turned his head so both could get a taste of the other's tongue. After a moment, they broke the kiss and Gryph's smirk returned. "Hold on, lemme try something." He said as he turned around and laid Nanaki down on his back under him. The gargoyle slipped lower and wrapped his fingers around the base of the beast's shaft, as his grip tightened somewhat, Nanaki's entire shaft emerged from its hiding place. Looking impressed, Gryph tipped it forward and pulled the flesh into his mouth. Instantly, Nanaki twitched in response and moaned as Gryph's tongue found its way around his member and the hard lip of his beak added some extra pressure.

Slowly, Gryph's head bobbed down until the tip of his beak pressed down on Nanaki's balls, the gargoyle moved his thumbs up his furred thighs and pressed back against the other side of his balls, he could feel the beast's pulse through the back of his balls and he moaned softly as a spurt of warmth shot into his mouth, landing on the back of his tongue. He swallowed a bit and kept on moving. His hands slowly moved up Nanaki's torso as he looked at the beast looking back at him with his forepaws up. Bringing his hands back down he felt his thumbs rub against Nanaki's rump and push in under his tail to the warm spot between his cheeks. Nanaki huffed and moaned, leaning his head back as his cock began to throb a bit faster.

"C-careful... you don't w-want to know what that'll unleash..." Nanaki said in between breaths as his hips began to buck a bit and his cock; now growing even girthier than Gryph suspected, began to pour precum down inside the gargoyle's beak which immediately fell through and began to drizzle onto the floor and the end of Nanaki's flank.

On the contrary, it was exactly what Gryph wanted. He knew that he often got a bit wild when he went over the edge, imagine what a beast like Nanaki could be capable of. He pulled Nanaki closer and drew every stroke down slower and slower, feeling Nanaki writhing in his grip.

"AHHHH!" Nanaki's entire body shot out as his legs shoved against Gryph's chest as a sudden geyser exploded from the tip of his cock.

It was an impossibly egregious amount of cum that shot out and Gryph tried his best to catch some of it and failed for the most part. He forced his face as far forward as he could, letting it shoot down his throat and even that was a bit much. As Gryph pulled his mouth back another spurt lauched across his beak, splashing his face some as he coughed and pulled away. Panting, Nanaki rolled back and forth on his shoulders, still cumming for a few seconds until it began to die down. To Gryph's surprise, Nanaki was still hard as a rock, his shaft twitching and wet. "Ha-had... enough?" He asked, rubbing his arm across his face a bit before being suddenly tackled by the beast and knocked onto his back.

"AHH!" Gryph grunted as Nanaki pinned his shoulders down, his cock still dripping and a wild grin on his face as he laid himself upon the gargoyle's shaft.

Nanaki was panting and looking down at Gryph, his weight enough to keep him from moving much. "Mmm thanks for that, Gryph." He said, leaning his head down and giving the gargoyle a lick on the beak. "Let me return the favor."

He momentarily lingered on Gryph's cock, dragging his flesh warmly along its length as the gargoyle guided his hips until they fell out of range. Nanaki's cock dripped as it dragged to his balls, then dropped off with a wet noise. Now that he was in range, the beast dragged his tongue along the gargoyle's fleshy shaft, leaning forward Gryph could feel the tip of the canid cock push against his fleshy ring. Gryph's eyes rolled back and he sighed, suppressing a moan as the tip began to sink into him. Nanaki's forepaws tightened against his hips and suddenly, the beast grunted and bucked his hips forward, suddenly sinking his shaft into the gargoyle's ass.

"Ahhh! Mmnhh..." Gryph cried out nearly biting his tongue as the pain of penetration was a bit stronger than he was used to. Nanaki was thick, his cock felt like it was a hundred degrees as it sank into him. As Gryph raised his knees up, Nanaki used the leverage to pull himself closer, pushing his cock in deeper. "Bl-bloody... fuck you're huge!" Gryph exclaimed, almost out of his mind from pleasure.

Nanaki panted, his tongue dipping from his maw as he bucked again, this time with enough force to scoot the gargoyle back along the floor, the narrow passage was even tighter now, to the point where most of Nanaki's movement was just flat momentum from his thrusts. Precum was flowing again, light trickles dripping from Gryph's ass each time his weight pulled back. Every thrust forward, Nanaki's stomach bumping hard against his balls again and again, a trail of precum now spouting from Gryph's tip and streaming down his sides as it bounced up and back down again. After several moments, he felt Nanaki's paws tighten against his legs, his body growing rigid as he was holding back his release. His mouth wide open in a permanent wild grin which slowly retreated as his tongue slipped back into his mouth.

"ahhh..ROOOOOOOOO!" Nanaki let out a furious howl that echoed through the chamber for several seconds.

There were thick, heavy pulses that felt like liquid lava on his insides. It filled him fast and it began to splash out, the smell of sex, the pressure on his balls. Gryph's claws dug into the ground and he lifted his hips as he came suddenly. He let out a furious roar and his cum shot like an arch through the air. It narrowly missed his face on the first shot, then the second hit him on the beak, giving him a general taste of his own cum. The rest of his cum began to flood his thick chest and soil his muscles with the white fluid. After a long straining moment, Nanaki practically collapsed across the gargoyle's muscular stomach, breathing heavily as he laid in the pool of cum. Gently lifting his head, he began to lick at the puddles. Gryph began to giggle uncontrollably and Nanaki grinned at him.

"St-stop, that tickles!" He exclaimed before resting his hands on Nanaki's shoulders and hugging him close. "That... was hot... best I had in a while." He said.

"You'll have to forgive me." Nanaki replied. "I've been pent up for a bit myself."

Facetiously, Gryph rolled his eyes. "Gee, I couldn't tell." He said.

"If you want, you could sleep here tonight." He said. "After we've both cleaned up some at least."

Gryph chuckled. "I've got to be out by morning, but I'll stay here as long as I can." He said.

Nanaki purred a bit and nodded before resting his head on Gryph's stomach. "Good. I look forward to learning more about you."

Gryph and Nanaki stayed up a few more hours, talking about where he came from and where he had to go. Nanaki regretted that Gryph had to leave and the two cuddled together until Gryph felt Nanaki doze off after a while. Carefully, he pulled his arms from under the beast's head and got up. Dressing himself, he made his way to the doorway and was surprised to see Arthur standing on the other side waiting for him.

"I was beginning to wonder if I had to come in after you." Arthur said, looking at the beast. "Sounds like you two had a good time, you ...you didn't want to stay did you?"

Gryph smiled. "I'm as steadfast to get home as I am to protect you, your majesty." He said. "Nanaki will understand that too, but for now I say we should get out of here."

Pushing the skiff back out onto the waters of the drying river, Gryph noticed the sun was only a few moments away from rising. Stepping on board, he and Arthur managed to push it out onto the water so that it would float instead of running aground. Turning toward the canyon, Gryph waved goodbye to no one in particular before noticing a dark spot on one the the highest cliffs overhead. A lone howl sounded out, filling the canyon with Nanaki's call and Gryph smiled as the mists began to surround the boat, Gryph waved toward him just as the sun came up and he turned to stone. The boat vanishing into the fog as Nanaki looked on toward the sunrise.
