Life in Dead Earth-

Status and Piercings-

Depending on your bloodline and status, your piercings and metals used for each piercing will determine your hierarchy and status within the family.

Facial piercings- Higher status family members will be the only ones to sport these and only higher status people are allowed, so you will only see Pures with these.

Ear Piercings- These are medium status piercings in both family and community, either Feral or Pure will have these.

Dermal Piercings- Low status people are the only ones who have these only found among the Feral community, the closer towards facial areas the higher status you have in the family and community of Ferals.

Connection Chains- Hugely important for stating that you are an heir in your family, only happens with family's that have a decent or large sum of money, or something to inherit.

Genital Piercings- Though these are unable to be openly seen in public areas, these are indicative of being a slave. Usually a slave will also have scarification done to their body in a way showing which family owns them.

No piercings/scarification- It means you are not welcome in the city for some reason, all Obscured are unmarked in this way.

Depending on what combination of these piercings depends on what your status adds up to. It takes practice to read piercing status.

Status and Metals-

Platinum- Part of a high status family of Pures. Likely an Idol family. (Only Pures)

Gold of any color- Relatively well off family, don't hold any specific or special roles in the community, but most families have a good amount of money and own a shop or business. (Only Pures)

Silver- Lives payment to payment, but makes enough to survive and that's about it. (Only Pures)

Titanium- Highest status that a Feral family can achieve, they have a sufficient amount of money for a Feral family and own a business that does well. (Ferals only)

Nickel- Poor family, they rely mostly on their own gardens and eat very little meat except what they hunt. They live from payment to payment to be able afford other things. (Ferals only)

Brass- Begging on the streets just to get something to eat, most sleep on the streets unless they are lucky and can crash somewhere with a kind soul who has some room in their house. These are the most likely ones to be Harvested. (Ferals only)

Composition of the Ruling Idols- Idol Families rule for one year then they are put back into rotation to rule again. (Only Pures are part of the Idol Families)
