"Seriously guys, I just don't get it. How did all these Prom posters go up in a single night?" We were sitting at lunch the next day, the cafeteria suddenly decorated with countless posters from guys asking out girls, posters informing everyone of the dance, and decorations like banners, streamers, and balloons dangling from the ceiling- which was impressive seeing as it was thirty feet up.
Michael shook his head, "We've been working on it for the past month, making posters, getting the decorations; all that stuff. Everyone's annoyed because it took three years to get me to work on a school dance, but I finally came around so long as everyone agreed to let me be in charge and takeover any jobs I felt people weren't handling right."
Isaac scoffed, "So you're doing everything yourself, right?"
"No, I'm making all the decorations for actual Prom, everyone else is making posters and hanging them up. Just think, for six hours some twenty girls were decorating the school, and it still doesn't look as good as what I've got in mind for actual prom."
Pandora nodded, "Yeah, and how many did it because they've got a crush on you?"
"No... They know I'm gay."
I shook my head, "No they don't, it's not as obvious as you think it is."
Isaac agreed, "Yeah, the only sign of it is your crush on Danny."
Danny's eyes widened, and I burst out laughing as Michael's face turned red, "I don't have a crush on him!"
Pandora mocked him, "Hey, be nice, don't hurt his feelings, he's got a crush, too."
Danny, thank you for having such a delightfully expressive face, his shock quickly turned to pure hatred and anger, and he denied it as much as Michael did. Isaac laughed, "Guys, calm down, it's pretty obvious, you don't need to be in the closet anymore."
Michael angrily got up and stormed off, getting stopped by one of the girls in Leadership on his way out the cafeteria. We couldn't hear what they were saying over how loud the cafeteria was, but it was really clear by the look of despair on her face that he'd just told her he was gay. As Michael left, she sat down, and within a moment the entire table looked sad. Danny shook his head at us, "You guys are fuckin' assholes." He got up and walked off, getting stopped on his way by the Leadership table. He shook his head, said something to them, and the whole cafeteria quickly took on a vibe of disappointment and satisfaction at the same time.
