Setting Sail: Chapter One,
Okay before you read the book the charector Neoj (which is me) his name is pronounced [nee-oh] the "j" in Neoj makes the "h" sound, it's Spanish an no I'm not Spanish, I'm a Fox, aha. Well I hope you enjoy my book, "Setting Sail"!
Chapter One,
I assumed we approached a red-light because the car stopped. Only if I could see, I thought to myself and chuckled. I put my feet on the dash of the car and sat farther back into my seat.
"Getting comfortable," my boyfriend, Sean asked me.
"Yes, after all it is my birthday, it's my time to relax," I replied with a smile.
I scratched my fur behind the blind-fold Sean had put around my eyes before we left. This was all a surprise for my birthday; he was taking me somewhere special. I started to think about where he was taking me and I began to get optimistic and started playing some unlikely case scenarios in my head.
I shifted in my seat and part of my tail got caught in the seatbelt that was strapped to my body, I grabbed my tail and pulled it gently from under the seatbelt.
"So," I smiled, "are we there yet?"
Sean lightly laughed and said, "Were getting there I promise, Neoj. Fifteen minuets tops.
I turned up the radio and both Sean and I smiled, our song was on, "I Will Posses Your Heart" by Death Cab for Cutie. I started playing the piano part of the song in the air. I put my elbow on the console between us and so did Sean and we held each others hand and started to sing the lyrics together, in unison.
"Oh, how I wish you could see the potential, the potential of you and me. It's like a book elegantly bound but in a language that you can't read just yet. You got to spend some time love, you got to spend some time with me," we both sang.
Every time we hear this song it reminds us why we love each other and why we are good together. We continued smiling and singing our way through the song.
Fifteen minuets flew by fast because before I knew it we were at the special place Sean was driving me to for my birthday. He got me out of the car and locked it and then started guided me because my eyes were blinded from the blindfold. He had his always-warm hands on my shoulders and I kept smiling because I kept tripping. I was such a klutz.
The walking was longer than I expected and it was strange to not know where you were going but knowing Sean I'm sure it is somewhere beautiful.
He sat me down on the ground and sat in what I assumed was right in front of me and he ripped my blindfold off. I saw his fur glowing in the light sunlight and behind him I saw a man-made waterfall. I looked at the ground; we were sitting on a blanket.
"A picnic," I said and smiled. I leaned over and hugged Sean. He held me in his strong arms and stroked my fur. I let go but didn't want to.
"You like it?" Sean asked.
"It's so romantic," I smiled. "But who set this up?"
"Oh, my mom did," Sean replied.
"That's so nice of her."
"Yeah well I asked her and she's done her best to please me since my dad died and she really likes you so she didn't mind."
"That's really cool. Your mom is awesome," I said. Sean nodded his head.
Sean pulled a basket from behind him and put it in-between us. "Open it," he said. I did as instructed and reached inside and gripped on to an object and pulled it out. It was a wrapped box. "Go ahead open it," Sean said with a gesture of opening it. I did and pulled out a bracelet, a couple of movies and a pair of iPod headphones.
"I knew you wanted those movies and I knew your headphones went missing and I made the bracelet."
I examined the bracelet and read what it said, "Sean + Neoj." I smiled and said, "This is amazing." I looked Sean in the eyes and he looked into mine. We slowly moved closer towards each other and our lips gently touched repeatedly. Sparks went off and we held each other in the quiet tranquility that was held in Water Springs Park.
