#20 of Genetic Children

Okay guys, girls and he/shes this one is very short sorry :D it is a bridging chapter for me to open up new ideas and take the story in a new direction, the characters will all remain in one way or another, but I don't want to give too much away, suffice to say Korm is heartbroken. Sorry if this lets anyone down and sorry this is so short.

"Lay down on the ground please Mr. Korm" A voice said from behind him, he could hear that the man was wearing a face mask as it muffled his voice a little, Korm shuffled back a little and bent forward to lay day.

"Thank you." Korm closed his eyes, he had been recaptured, it looked like the situation was going downhill even further. As he thought about the extraction they had called for, and wondered whether it was going to make it on time, the man behind him stepped forward and stuck a Hypo-injector to his neck. Korm slowly rolled over.

He saw Emu laying on the ground face down, he saw the soldiers lining the stairs, he saw the man who had injected him, the last thing he saw was a glimpse of familiarity behind the face mask. A slight cheeky grin and a tiny nod of the head before he blacked out.

_When Korm came to, he began to recall the previous events that had led him to this situation. A rocket, a speeding X-Rail train, the Lab and Wade Connors.

He shifted slightly moving the hard chair rail out from the small of his back, then he rolled forward and sat up. He was still dazed from the explosion and the rollover, and he could feel a distant stinging pain in his back and legs, but they thing he noticed, mostly out of concern and panic, was that the only other person he could see, was Niel.

Niel was slumped against the front wall of the cabin, having been thrown from the front to the back after the explosion, he looked like he was in pain even though he was un-conscious, Korm went forward and check his pulse. It was slow and steady, but his breathing was ragged.

Without moving him, Korm looked behind Niel and saw why. Niel's back had hit the emergency release on the door, a large metal 'T' shaped handle, it must have broken some of his ribs, at least there was no blood around his mouth, so there was a good chance his lungs weren't punctured._

Once he had checked his friend, the energy and adrenaline that had kept Korm from feeling pain and sorrow from his injuries, and his missing family drained from his body.

He fell to the ground, slumping at the knees. The shard of glass in his leg pushed further in and the stinging worsened, but it was nothing compared to the loss of his daughter and wife, Wade had them.

'WADDDDEEEEE!!!!!" Korm screamed, he screamed until his throat was raw, and his mind went numb. Then he broke down sobbing on the ripped, twisted floor of the X-Rail cabin, the last place he had seen his beautiful wife and daughter.
