"Bovine Parents"

CHAPTER 25

"WHEEEEE!!"

Tommy clomped around the grounds with his little sisters firmly stuck to his shins, cheering whilst he made exaggerated walking motions, swinging his legs in a wide arc with each step. He wandered about for a bit before stopping.

"Again! Again!" they cried.

"You've had me do this twelve times," Tommy replied, beginning to tire from all the playtime.

"Again! Again!" came the same cry. Daisy and Clara were toddlers. Well on their way towards speaking whole sentences. Until then it was suffice to make one-word demands of their parents and older sibling.

Sandra chuckled at the sight of her son entertaining the twins. She sat on a long wooden picnic bench, watching from the sidelines. Lacey and Jen were beside her, deep in business-related discussion.

"Ugh, fine. Last time!"

"Awwww."

"I'm serious, this is the last time."

"MOOOO!" they screamed, with Clara sticking her tongue out defiantly. She in particular tended to be quite boisterous and troublesome, far more than Daisy, who seemed happy to make friends with anyone or even any thing. Rocks included. Yes, she had a pet rock. Its name was Daryl.

Sandra continued to observe them. Tommy was getting used to life on the farm, much more than he ever did as a human. She was glad. There was a lot of pain in the past, where it would remain; fortunately. It'd been two weeks since he returned home a hybrid. Already it felt like he'd been here the whole time. As soon as he laid eyes on his sisters he was infatuated. A life of only-childhood meant he never experienced being a brother, let alone an awesome big brother who always makes time for his siblings.

I can't believe Tommy's back with us. It feels like a dream.

A happy dream.

"I'm done. Clara get off! Daisy go play with your pet rock..." he tried to shake them off. Daisy was polite enough to get the message; she let go and stumbled away to have fun elsewhere. Clara however, was stubbornly refusing to release her hold. Sandra walked over to her son to assist him.

"Brudder..." Clara mumbled incoherently as Sandra gripped her. Her mother pried the defiant child from Tommy's leg and lifted the calf into her arms. Tommy brushed his fur.

"I think they moulted on me," he sighed, "I just bathed!" Follicles of brownish hair tumbled and swirled in the air as he shook them off. The twins had inherited a mix of Eric and Sandra's colouration, patterned like stereotypical cows but in beige and brown.

As Sandra left her son to groom, Jen rose from her seat and approached him.

"Tommy, should we go and meet Carl now? He said he wanted help finishing up our housing."

"Moo...I, uh, sure..."

* * *

Lacey and Sandra watched them talk. It's exciting, Sandra thought, to start planning your life together, I wish I could do it all again with Eric. And again...

She turned to Lacey. "If they ain't an item yet, they will be."

"You could tell too?" Lacey responded.

"It's written all over their faces. I think they're shy about it."

"Not even first base yet huh?"

Sandra giggled, "I wouldn't put money on it, all I'm sayin'!"

Sharing the amusement, it was a few minutes before either spoke up again.

"I wonder how long it'll take--"

"I'm not a bettin' lass, so don't count me in for any predictions, no siree! I think it's time we had a proper girl-to-girl with Jen," Sandra added, "and I have just the venue..."

* * *

"This is your first time huh?"

"Yes," Jen answered, masking a degree of anxiety.

"Let me tell ya, you won't look so glum afterwards I can assure you!"

Busy helping their new charge through the process of milking, Sandra and Lacey stood beside her -- fiddling with the straps and harness. Jen patiently memorised how they set everything up. Soon she'd be responsible for doing it herself, and she didn't want to disappoint the other, more senior cowgirls.

"Here, these cups go on like this..."

"Ooh! That is cold."

"You'll get used to it. Now we'll go for a medium-low setting, it'll take the pressure off your boobs but not forcefully. Ya gotta work towards the higher levels!" Sandra winked at her. Lacey continued to fit the suction cups snugly onto Jen's waiting breasts.

"Ready?" they asked.

"I think so."

Sandra turned on the machine. Midst the steady humming Jen's eyes widened, and she went silent. Completely silent. Only the faintest murring could be heard as the apparatus milked her.

"Well? How's it feel?" Lacey asked.

"I--I--I--I--I was not expecting...this--this..." Jen managed to stammer out.

Her reply was met with bouts of laughter from the other females.

"Join the club sweetheart!"

* * *

"I cannot believe you do that every day!" Jen massaged her relieved bosom. They felt lighter, less irritating. 'Twas the same as when Sandra and Lacey had their firsts: pressure bordering on painful for a couple of weeks, then sublime release; leaving a spring in each of their steps.

"What...milkin'? It's a fun pastime, plus it pays the bills! Lacey and I want to make sure ya get comfortable with it before we demand it daily."

"You are very patient with me Sandra.Escpecl...especially when I--"

"Leaned on the lever and increased the speed?"

"Moo," Jen thought back to her little accident. She was nowhere near ready for that powerful and extraction. A full minute of panicked shouting at her colleagues before they could put their laughter to one side and help her out.

It didn't hurt -- per se -- but it gave her quite a fright.

Sandra's eyes traversed the cowgirl's body, admiring her shape. Of special note were her darling breasts, freshly milked and soft-furred. Jen offered no resistance as Sandra manhandled her boobs. She quite enjoyed the attention.

"You have a nice pair, moo," she cooed as she cupped them.

"Thank you," Jen replied. Sandra sensed the woman's submissive tone.I see your instincts are kickin' in. Already, deep-down, you recognise my position in the herd as a...superior...do you even realise that I wonder?

"I know that look," Sandra continued, "I saw that same face when Lacey became my herd-sister."

"Herd-sister? What is that?"

"It's a term we use for all the gals in the herd. Together. Like one big family. Lacey and I ain't relatives, blood nor step, and we see each other as herd-sisters. Our bond is strong. We look out for each other."

"That sounds nice."

"Course there's hierarchy. Lacey's my friend and I love her, but I was Eric's first. I get to boss her around."

"Oh."

"Aw c'mon, I make it sound so strict! It's really more of a guide for us."

"That does not seem so bad."

"It isn't honey. The tiny voice in the back of your mind is tellin' ya these things, even if you don't hear it out loud. The cow part of your brain. I'd like to add you to our herd, and order you around all bossy like, but that ain't gonna be the case."

"Moo?" Jen was confused. She was just learning about her place in the Reimond's herd and now...she isn't part of it?

"Sweetheart, the herd is for all those who...uh--err...how should I put this...'love' Eric very much. Um, physically," she noted Jen's moment of understanding, and her ensuing embarrassment. "I see you lookin' at my son in that way."

The concern in Jen's voice was audible. "You, you know? How!?"

Sandra watched her in silence for a while, her shock turned to pleading.

"I--I am sorry! If you want me to leave him be--"

"Moo! Oh God no! No. I'm sorry I gave ya that impression, I was just...thinking. Thinking...that you might consider acting as your own herd with Tommy whenever you decide it's time to...y'know..."

"I understand," Jen scratched behind her ears and looked away, pausing to collect herself. Soon after she threw herself back into the conversation: "is there anything else I need to learn about the herd. It seems very important to everyone here."

"Welp," Sandra stretched as she spoke, "let me tell ya all about it..."

* * *

Late in the evening Tommy spent some time walking with his father, exploring the perimeter of the farm. They chatted, mainly about life as bulls, and all the necessary caveats. How to clean your fur properly, how much more alcohol it took to get yourself drunk, how to not get your horns stuck in doorways etc...

Eric was thrilled his son finally fit into the grand scheme of things. They bonded like never before, finally able to make a real connection. The first since Eric decided to become a hybrid all those years ago.

They found themselves a nice glade and sat down. Relaxing in the quiet and calm.

"Your friend Jen. She's very beautiful."

If anthropomorphic bulls could be seen to blush, then Tommy was as bright as a wartime searchlight. "Geez dad, don't start."

"Hey, I won't intrude on your crush son."

Tommy was aghast. He'd been found out. "How did you know?"

"Moo!" Eric laughed, slapping him firmly on the back, "It's plain as day! Even your mother sussed it the moment you showed back up here. All those sly glances when you thought no-one was lookin'. I don't blame ya, she's got an ass to die for. A nice slice of Qinese beef, I might add."

"I--"

His father let out a hearty chuckle, his mighty frame shaking with each burst. "What got me thinkin' about her is you, son. Have you thought about the herd?"

"I mean, a little. I can kinda understand it better now, there's this feeling. In the corner of my mind. You and mom and Lacey all fit together nicely. I wouldn't want to mess with that."

"No...not_my_herd. Your herd."

"Whuh?"

"You heard me. We're running the farm as two halves now. You and Jen get your own house/barn, the new land...and me an' the rest keep on truckin' same as before."

"So, it's not just me and Jen running a separate section..."

His father grinned. "Jen's attractive, and open to your advances. As much as I'd love to I won't try to steal her away for my own. Scouts' honour." Eric thumped his chest to emphasise his point. "You an' her would make a fine couple. There's plenty of room here for you two to settle down properly. Become a herd all to yourselves. Maybe even add others."

"Moo...I never saw it that way..."

Tommy sat idle, letting the evening breeze cool his furred body. The day was drawing to a close. Another idyllic sunset would soon follow. He scanned the tree-tops nearby, staring as the sky slowly reddened. The weather was nice. He missed this.

"C'mon son," Eric rose to his feet in the dying light, "let's go see what the girls are up to."
