Part 5: Resemblance
Anna came back into the class, the huge sword nowhere to be found and she didn't even have a scratch.
"Sorry about that teach." she said.
"Don't worry about it. We're all counting on you to get the monsters gone when they escape." he told her.
And from that moment on it seemed like it was a class that would last forever. Time was moving so slow I thought class would never end.
Suddenly, the bell rang.
"Finally." I thought.
"Alright class, don't forget to make your exercises page 35 for next lesson." he told everyone before they left the class.
During the break, I left to look for Anna. I was curious about where she hid that sword after killing that monster and where she learned how to fight like the way she did.
I found her sitting on a bench with her friend Elize, talking about random things.
"Hey! Anna!" I yelled.
She and Elize turned around to look who shouted at her.
"Ah, you're the new guy." Anna said.
"Yeah, my name's Razor. I heard your name countless times from the teacher." I said.
"Well, nice to meet you Razor." she said looking at me like I'm from a different planet.
"Hm, you look familiar." she suddenly said.
"Eh? How? I've never seen you before though." I said quite surprised.
"Well ... I don't know either, but you just look familiar, or you just look like someone." she said.
"I look like ... someone else?" I asked.
"Yeah, you look like him ... a lot."
"Almost like you're his twin." Elize said to join the conversation.
"Who is this person you say I look like?" I asked wanting to know who it is.
"You wouldn't be Silver's son would you?" Anna asked.
"What?! No way! My dad's name wasn't Silver and ... he died in a car crash." I said looking down.
"Oh. I'm ... sorry to hear that." Anna said apologizing.
"How sad." Elize said with tears in her eyes.
"Don't worry about it ... anymore. I'm over my parents' death already a while. At least, I'd like to believe that." I said.
"But you said your mother chose this school for you. Didn't you?" Anna asked.
"I did, but ... she's not my biological mom. Elena took me in her home because nobody else would want to take me in." I said sadly.
"How awful, nobody wanted to?" Anna said.
"Yeah, ... nobody ..." I said turning around.
"Anyway ... who's this Silver I look like?" I asked trying to change the subject.
"Ah, well, you'll meet him soon enough." Anna said with a wink.
"You'll like him a lot." Elize added.
"I ... will?" I asked looking amazed.
And soon enough the bell rang again. Every student hurried to the school to get back to class. Only me, who didn't know which class to be in was not rushing, but taking out my class list.
"O .. K. I have Science now. Class 1.5 S. This is not going to be easy." I said with a sigh.
"Razor! Over here!" Anna yelled.
"Eh? Ah Anna. I'm coming!" I yelled back at her.
After a little run, I got to Anna and Elize.
"You still don't know where each class is do you?
"You're right, I don't know a single class here. I'm going to get lost here a lot." I said a little embarrassed.
"Haha, don't worry Razor, stick with us, we'll help you get used to the school and if you have questions don't hesitate to ask them." She said to me.
"Cool, thanks." I said thanking both.
After a few minutes walking and talking, mostly introductions, we got to our class.
"This is going to be a long, boring lesson as well isn't it?" I asked.
"You'll be amazed how fun science is." Anna and Elize said in unison.
"Wow, guess you both like science a lot huh." I said.
"You bet! Science is fun, a lot of experiments and more. Oh and you get to play with fire!" Anna yelled all exited.
"Anna! Don't talk like that!" Elize said surprised.
"Sorry, guess I got a little too exited." she said with a smile.
"Hahaha, don't worry about it." I said smiling.
And like they both had told me, science was fun. We did a lot of experiments, listened to some explanations of what would happen if we mixed a few ingredients and put one ingredient too much in it, which would result in a 'BOOM', and sure enough, we got to play with fire.
The hour seemed to pass much faster than my previous class and it was a lot more fun. It wasn't all theory but also lots of practical stuff. During lunch break, I was sitting with Anna and Elize who were telling me about everything I needed to know about the school.
But something particular caught my attention. They mentioned FE, and this Silver again.
"So ... Silver, what's he like?" I asked trying to get more information about him.
"You'll see soon enough." Anna said again.
"Aw you're not going to tell me anything about this guy?" I asked keeping my head a little to the side.
"Nope, you'll see him soon." She said again.
"That's like the fifth time you say that." I said to her smiling.
"Well it is the fifth time you ask us to tell you about him." she said smiling as well.
"Ok, if you can't tell me anything about him, what can you tell me about this FE?" I asked changing subject.
"Well, Fighting Education or FE short, is just sort of a basic in all kinds of fighting styles. You get to choose your own weapon, both ranged as melee weapons. Best part is, that if you have chosen both, and you practice with it the entire year, you can get a license for using those weapons wherever you want." Anna told me.
"What?! You get those weapons, including a license?!" I asked surprised.
"Yes, you do. On one condition." Elize added.
"Oh? A condition? Which is?" I asked.
"You have to prove that you'll only use the weapons for the use of good, and not abuse the skills you learned for your own selfish reasons." Elize said.
"Well, I only just now got a new home, I'll definitely use them to protect my family." I said.
"That's nice, but just using them to protect your family ain't enough. You have to prove that you'll protect everyone that needs help with your skills. Only then will you get a license." Elize said again.
"Protect ... everyone in need huh. I can do that." I said looking down.
"If you can do that, you're ready to get a license." Anna said smiling.
But Elize kept looking at me, probably wondering and wanting to ask something about my past.
"Razor." Elize started.
"You ... were looking sad just now. What is it that hurts you so much?" she asked.
I was shocked hearing that. I didn't even realize that I was looking down and had a sad look.
"Darn, I don't want anyone to know yet." I thought.
"It's ... nothing." I said looking away.
"You ... sure?" Elize asked.
"I'm sure you're hiding something." she added.
With that I thought she was trying to get more information about my past, and my private life.
I have pretty much always been alone, but never the alone you would be ... when you're without parents.
"Fine." I said suddenly.
"Huh?" both said.
"I'll ... tell you something ... I want you to keep quiet. Quiet to everyone." I said looking down.
"Promise." both said in unison.
"Alright then. Ever since I was born, people called me a freak, and sometimes I believed them. At about the age of five, every time something happened I would get a bad feeling, a cold chill that runs from my spine and it would suddenly start raining for a short period." I said.
"People would either call me a future diviner, but others would call me the one who is causing all the trouble and others just call me a freak because I know that something happened." I added.
"It's been a while since I had this bad feeling, so I hope I got rid of it, but I know I didn't. I hate knowing things happened and will happen. I don't want to know that something's going to happen. So for years, I kept to myself, everywhere ... even at home. I never talked to anyone, my parents even started to think I was losing my mind. They kept taking me to doctors only to get the answer that I'm perfectly fine." I continued.
"That's ... odd." Anna said butting in on my story.
"Well, it's the truth though, but I understand if you don't believe it, it is pretty much unbelievable anyway." I said looking to the side.
"No ... I do believe it." Anna assured me.
"I have known other people who were, like they said ... weird, they could do some stuff others couldn't. People would treat them badly just because of that one thing they could do." she continued.
"Razor, I now understand why you would keep to yourself. You don't want this to leak so you would have to start taking the beatings or the insults of the other people. That's it right?" she said.
"Pretty much everything summed up, yes." I said.
"Well, don't worry. You're secret's safe with us." Anna said with a wink.
"Thanks, I know it is." I said smiling slightly.
When we were moving back to go to the next class, I stopped in my track. Something ... felt familiar. Something I hadn't felt in a long time. It was there, the bad feeling I hadn't had in quite a while, I started feeling it again. I just stood there in the middle of the square.
"Hey, Razor! You coming?" Anna yelled.
I wasn't moving nor responding. I stood still, looking at the ground not hearing, seeing or smelling. In this state I wouldn't even notice if my tail was on fire. But I saw what happened and I started moving again.
"Hey Razor, what happened? You stopped moving all of a sudden." Anna said worryingly.
"I ... I had this feeling again. But ... this time ... something was ... different." I said.
"huh? In what way?" she asked.
"I actually saw what happened." I said.
"Wow, you can see what happens?!" she yelled.
"Not so loud!" I yelled at her.
We were both looking around to find everyone was looking at us.
"This is just great." I said looking down.
"I don't want everyone to know I can feel and see accidents happen." I said to her.
"I know, I'm sorry I was just surprised you saw it." she said.
"Just ... forget about it." I said.
We continued on our way to class, and got there pretty fast. I checked which class we had and noticed that we had FE coming up.
"Hm, so I'm actually going to see what FE really is like." I thought.
"This is going to be fun."
When the bell rang everyone entered the door, looking around and taking their weapon in hand. I looked around to find the teacher who apparently hadn't arrived yet.
"Sorry I'm late." a voice came from behind me.
When I turned around I found a pretty tall gray wolf standing right behind me.
"Wow. He's big." I said.
"Well I'm not that big actually, I'm still smaller than the principal." he said smiling.
"This must be that Silver guy that Anna and Elize talked about. He looks like me like they said." I thought.
"So, you must be the new student, right?" he said.
"Yes, I am. My name's Razor." I said.
"Heh, welcome in this class Razor, I'll be your teacher in FE, and my name's Silver Wolf, just call me Silver though." he said smiling and with a wink.
"It is the Silver guy!" I thought.
