The carriage jolted and rolled along the precarious trail, the slow rumble of heavy dark clouds over us showing that the sky above us was still controlled by the Enclave.

Trodden Roads was a jovial, sweating, red pony, head of the convoy of five carriages that was shipping grain from a large farm in eastern NCR, heading southwest all the way to what remained of the metropolis of Baltimare.

The constant threat of Enclave raid meant that few ponies dared to bring merchant convoys so south anymore. Baltimare and the surrounding settlements had been completely isolated from the rest of the NCR, it seemed that the Enclave intended to starve them out. For the last weeks food supplies had been limited to what little could be teleported into the settlements by the Followers of the Apocalypse, but with winter coming there would be need for much more food.

Trodden Roads had been one of the merchants attracted by the promise of quite a hefty reward if they could bring a few wagons of grain into the town. The old farm pony and his crew were used to the life on the road, they were all hardened ponies that had more than once clashed with raiders and ghouls on the roads of Equestria.

He'd been more than happy to pick up me and my marefriend, Obsolete Tech, for the extra firepower and the advantage of having Obsolete as a pegasus scout. Neither of us was really eager for another scruff with the Enclave, but with not only a substantial payment, but a formal pardon from the NCR in line there was no way we would have refused it.

"Nobody ever stole a grain wagon from me or my ponies," he said in a high-pitched giggle. "Back in my young day there was always these herd of ghouls rolling around or raiders thinking they were clever enough to ambush us, but ponies these days have it easy. There are Applejack's Rangers patrolling the roads everywhere. They charge us some caps, but I reckon there's a lot less blood spilled and more profit to be made."

"You going all the way into town?" I asked.

"Nope. Do business with the Curators, little way this side of Baltimare itself. Going that way we can avoid the main roads and slip under the Enclave notice."

"Curators?" Obsolete clung to the edge of the seat, balancing against the reeling movement of the carriage.

"That's what they call themselves. They have their own town just outside of Baltimare, collect all kind of stuff and always pay good caps for books. They have some kind of old museum that they turned into a fortress. Pretty nice folk, as long as you don't try to steal their stuff. Anyone that ever tried, even before the NCR, ends up buying themselves a six-foot plot."

I didn't even needed to look at Obsolete to perfectly picture those puppy eyes of hers, the way she would bat her eyes at me and say all sweet: Nighty, can we go?

"We can try to see the place, but you keep your hoofs to yourself!" I chastised her, avoiding those big eyes of her. Last time we were chased half away around Fillydelphia because she had decided to steal Red Eye's toaster.

She smiled and jumped in joy, wagging her long golden tail and licking my cheeks. The joys of having a marefriend that spent way too much time with hellhounds.

"Stop!" I screamed trying to push her away with my magic.

"No! I need to lick you so you know I love you!" She exclaimed as she held me down and licked my ticklish belly, any attempt at magic flicking out as I laughed out loud.

Trodden shook his head in a mix of amusement and disbelief.

The caravan was about twenty good ponies, four in each carriage with two pulling and the other two in guard duty. Usually two ponies would be sent ahead of the group to scout the region, but this time this job fell into our hooves, trailblazing ahead of the caravan to make sure there would be no problems ahead. By night there would ten ponies resting after a long day pulling the wagons. That left twelve of us to do the cooking, cleaning, washing and sentinel duty when we stopped for the night. Most ponies there were related, if not by blood, at least by long years of shared hard work. That left me and Obsolete mostly isolated for ourselves every night, we laid our sleeping bags a bit far from the others were we could have some privacy for ourselves.

It was a good, warm night, the two of us were laying on our backs, watching the cloudy skies.

"I miss the stars," I traced the point where stars should be with my hooves, trying to identify the constellations I had heard about in old books. After two centuries, the stars once again shone over most of the wasteland. "They are amazing."

"You are amazing," Obsolete sits over me, her hoofs quickly undoing the straps of my barding. "I just don't understand how you can always be wearing so much clothes."

She smiled, her intentions made clear as she rubbed her crotch against my belly. I held her with both hooves as my magic stripped her naked, taking aside her light barding. She barely used any clothes, claiming that it messed with her aerodynamic.

"You are dirty," I spoke as my hooves guided her a bit lower, our crotches pressing against each other tenderly.

She growled angrily, pressing herself hard against me, making me blush and bit my lips.

"I love how you are so conscious about your hygiene," She held both my hooves over my head, pressing herself against me. "But now is not the time!"

She kissed me then. Her tongue intertwined with mine. Softly at first, but as our passion flared it became a fevered, overwhelming kiss. My skin flushed with excitement, nerves hummed in joy.

Isolated from the others as we were, there was little need for restraint, no one would be attracted by ours moans and grunts. I used my magic to touch Obsolete's clitoris, stimulating and extracting adorable moans, her wings flaring open with excitement. Obsolete slid her tongue in my mouth, welcoming my advances with a heated kiss. Fiery passion brewed inside both of us, after so many days travelling without a safe place to rest, after so many fitful nights sleeping with an eye open, we finally could relax for once.

Obsolete's hoofs ventured all over my brown coat sending chills across my entire body. She leaned over me as I intensified my magic touch, kissing and nibbling my neck, lightly sucking my skin just enough to bring goosebumps to the surface of my skin. She licked eagerly, going slowly up from my neck to my cheeks and then eagerly all over my horn. The perks of a marefriend that has spent way too much time with helldogs. I shuddered completely, my magic flickering out as her caress made it impossible for me to keep my focus, moans escaping my mouth as her tongue worked on my sensitive horn.

I held her strongly, magic sparkling without control as she kept licking , sucking on it contently. Taking me to the brink of my desire. I pressed my crotch against her, sensing her wet juices staining my coat, extracting soft moans of pleasure as desire grew to engulf us.

I bit my lips and felt the crashing waves of magic collapsing into an orgasm that flashed, flared through my horn, ripping into incoherent splashes of light and color that I could see even though my closed eyes. Her hips tightened, grinding her pussy against mine, intensifying the excruciating sensations as every muscle in my body trembled in a more carnal release.

"I want to feel all of you," I begged in a seductive whisper.

Obsolete gladly complied; welcoming as my hooves threw her on the ground, pressing her down with a lustful kiss, my hoof sliding down her stomach. She relished in the feeling, the so desired touch tickling her skin as it sent jolts of pleasure shooting through over her lithe body. Obsolete moaned at the feeling, pulling me closer to her. I toyed with her pleasure zones using my magic, feeling the anticipation and desire that came out of her. Obsolete gasped in unrelenting ecstasy as she parted her thighs to feel more, relenting herself to my desire.

I felt her passion, her desire in her writing body, in her lewd moans, the way she looked at me almost begging me to keep going. I worked on her with hoof and magic, caressing, teasing that delicious spot in unison with Obsolete's movements while she sobbed in pleasure. A perfect dance between our bodies, a rush of pleasure like neither of us had experienced before.

"I want to taste you," I whispered to her.

"Yes, please," Obsolete begged.

I maneuvered my body down to Obsolete's moist, fiery pussy as it pounded with her heart beat, filled with the anticipation. I slowly ran my tongue over Obsolete's swollen clit, causing her to flinch at the exquisite sensation. Moaning loudly, she begged me to take her and I was more than happy to comply. I held her down with my hooves, speeding up my movements and the pressure on Obsolete, feeling it pulsing in my tongue.

I felt her muscles spasming, as orgasm tore at her senses, flaring her nerve endings with ravaging pleasure. I drunk from her, tasting her sweetness eagerly.

She greeted me with a passionate kiss, licking her own juices from my mouth as I felt my body collapsing over her, completely exhausted. She held me tight against her, slipping in a restful sleep.

We awoke with the freshness of dawn dew, appreciating a magnificent golden sunrise that spilled across holes in the cloud cover. The camp was tumultuous with rumors from a pegasus fight in the first hours of the morning, it seemed the two of us had slept trough what had been a pretty intense aerial battle. The holes in the cloud cover a silent testament to the violence that had passed by them.

"Who was this pegasus?" Obsolete asked, seeing Trodden toweling water from his gingery mane as we walked by toward one of the cooking fires.

"No one is sure, some say it was a rust colored pegasus wearing Enclave armor flying circles around the patrol, but no one could get a good sight."

Each of the merchants was eager to tell their own tale of the fight while we ate breakfast, some more unbelievable than others, some going so far as to include a dragon clad in Enclave armor.

"If the little fillies finished gossiping, we have a lot of ground to cover today before we arrive at King's Row," Trodden Roads said. "Go pack, everypony!"

"What's King's Row?"

"King Row's one of them best places around to grab a hot meal and a cold beer. Balefire didn't leave much standing, and what was left kind of fell apart. But in these parts everyone still loves rock music, so folks wanted a focus. About ten years ago this weird fellow called High String came around with his band, kicked the raiders out of the place and opened up King's Row. Filled it with costumes, instruments, and all kinds of stuff he swore was genuine."

"High String?" Obsolete said. "I heard that name before. He still there? He used to be kind of a legend amidst the scavengers I used to run with. "

"Long gone. But place is thriving. It's kind of become its own myth."

"Sounds fun," I said.

We saw more signs of the siege as we made our slow way south.

There were little hamlets and isolated homes, shacks and shanties surrounded by a burned acres, ash dancing on the wind, here and there a darkened faces would peer from cracks in the walls, or between the boards of a window. Broken-down, burned wagons showed the places where earlier attempts had been made to bring food and supplies to Baltimare.

"Friends?" I asked to Trodden, my combat shotgun floating at my side.

"They are afraid we will attract a pegasus patrol," he replied. "When this siege begun the pegasus came and charred their crops, killed anypony that resisted. Now they only come back if they see wagons coming this way."

By midmorning we saw the bizarre sight of the New Saddle's volcano to the west. The ruins of New Saddle were completely covered in ashes and long tendrils of pale gray smoke tinged with green corruption reached for the sky.

"They used to avoid this place like the plague," Obsolete said, gesturing with her wing towards the volcano. "Used to say the clouds were bad there, but after they lost the SPP it became one of their few fortresses on the mainland."

"It's not natural, is it?" I asked looking with suspicion to the long tendrils of smoke that seemed to be endless.

"They think the zebras used a underground balefire bomb, it penetrated on the ground before exploding. Their idea was to avoid tainting the area with magical radiation, but there was something under the city that is still burning to this day."

"Hey, love birds!" Trodden asked from his point in the front of the caravan. "Look ahead!"

We turned to see a giant colored billboard made from dozens of different pieces cobbled together.

King's Row: Rock And Roll Has No Beginning And No End, For It's The Very Pulse Of Life Itself.

There followed a series of smaller boards, listing some of the bands that were playing in the town, a parade of flashy names that neither of us had ever heard about. The list seemed endless and included the likes of: The Twilight Zone,Thunder Rainbow Cider, Secret Society of Saddles, Super Duper Party Experiment, Golden Collar and the Timberwolves, and The Marshals..

"Welcome to King's Row, the land of rock n roll!"
