Poem for Children Wishing to Summon Evil Spirits

Exactly what it says on the tin.

On Hallow's Eve, beneath the sky

Take the implements described

To some obscure, untraveled place,

The knife, the flame, the words to say.

A pentagram would surely do,

But pick which symbol pleases you

And draw it out with steady care,

Then ring your chime to cleanse the air,

Nine times. Not more, no less,

And these are points you mustn't test.

Did e'er you rule the hordes of Hell?

No. But I have, so listen well!

Spill the blood upon the earth

(The blood involved need not be yours),

Then speak! Let not your caution lapse,

And you'll be safe. I think. Perhaps.

"Mask and mirror, moon and sea,

Take thy shape and tend to me.

Blood and incense, dust and wine

Call thee down and here do bind."

Another nine with chime or bell,

Then snuff the fire to end the spell.

You'll be followed home from the shrine

By fiends. With luck, they'll give you mine.
