Each chapter of Firedog, the First ending up having a little "epilogue" to it, so I've collected all five of those here. Hope you enjoy the little extra color to Kyle's story!

Kyle blindsided his parents when he came out to them after coming out to Shana. They said all would be fine, though were very uncertain about it, largely from the surprise of the situation. Things were awkward for a few days, the three Kinsleys a bit unsure about whether things would change between or for them, but everyone settled back into their regular routine soon enough. Kyle's parents even started providing extra support when it became clear their son's social life went a little askew by his outing, with many people being a bit more distant.

Kyle spent his freshman year on the JV battle team, earning a fairly good record through both the fall dual meet season and the spring challenge meet season. It wasn't a spectacular season, but he did well enough that Coach Costales decided to promote Kyle to the Varsity squad for his sophomore year. He was the only rising sophomore that was getting promoted, most of the graduating seniors being replaced by rising seniors and juniors, meaning that he was leaving Ryan, Sarah, Lucas, and the rest behind. About half of the freshmen further resented him for it, but the others congratulated him. Right before summer break began, the two coaches called him in to their office and calmed his nerves about competing in Varsity by surprising him with a Fire Stone they had obtained for him through the state's high school athletic association. Kyle waited until his birthday midsummer to use it.

Kyle work up the day after his first Varsity meet with multiple screenshots posted to his Pawbook wall of news stories from last night 11 o'clock news and from online with coverage of the #2 local team upsetting the #1 local team, many reports with the headline "Kinsley is Kingly" with picture of him being paraded around. His popularity at school was similarly impressive, with everyone at school now apparently knowing his name and saying hello as he went through the halls. The next day, the school newspaper contacted him for an interview. Most of it was about the battle itself and Kyle's history on JV and Varsity, but they end up directly asking what it felt like being the most popular gay guy in school. Kyle honestly had no clue how to answer, and he wasn't sure how to answer without having some kickback, considering he had made a bit of an effort to stay away from the Pride club at school so far. It seemed like most of them understood his uncertainty, though, when the article came out later that week, which made the rest of the year much easier for Kyle as it set up an easier balance between being an athlete, a cool kid, and a gay guy.

A week or so before Halloween during his junior year, a video started circulating around Westside simply through students' phones, never making it to Pawbook or any other social media. It was a low-quality cell phone video, taken at night across the street from a park in one of the inner suburbs of the city. The narrator, who some students might have recognized as a certain Aipom on the JV battle team, opened the video with some comment about someone bringing goons when they should've come alone. The video then focuses on the park, showing two Arcanine standing across a small field from each other, one of them having a Hawlucha and Herdier behind him. The two Arcanine then start battling, a battle which would look like it was in slow-mo to anyone who watched high school varsity battle teams. After a minute or two, though, one of the Arcanine stops pandering and starts absolutely walloping the other, earning a soft "yeah K!" from the kid filming the whole ordeal. A moment later, though, the narrator curses, with a momentary glimpse of the two other 'mons rushing in to the fight before the narrator choses to dash across the street, at the expense of the shot. The camera rights itself a moment later, though, with the narrator still not near the fight as it's clear the "one" of the "three-on-one" is handling himself perfectly fine in this "battle" against three guys who clearly have no real battle training, though the fact that it's three-on-one makes that still no easy feat. Eventually, he pulls out his own phone to call for medical assistance to the three guys he's left flat on the ground, with no apparent major injuries of his own. He then starts scanning around the area, apparently looking for someone he expects to be far away, at which point the video shakes side to side as the narrator yell-whispers "over here!". The victorious Arcanine walks in the filmographer's direction, thanking him for being "...my own emergency call if I neede- wait, were you filming??" at which point you hear half of a "no" before the video stops.

After two hectic weeks into their first semester at Meritzen, Kyle and Sky were really ready to let loose and escape the roller coaster for a night. They had heard of a party down on frat row that may-or-may-not have been the first rush-recruiting event of the semester, though neither of them had any intent to rush - Kyle wasn't even allowed to rush a traditional frat as long as he was on his athletic scholarship (scholarly or service frats were fine, though). Still, that Friday after dinner, they both slid on their skinny jeans and made their way across campus to the twisting, turning road jutting off from main campus that was frat row. It was clear which house was where the party was, and the two fire-types certainly got caught up in the festivities. They both knew their limits, though, more or less, and used each other for necessary support as they staggered across campus at two in the morning back to their dorm room, at which time Kyle discovered the sun tattoo on Sky's shoulder, as well as the fact that Sky's father was apparently canine (a Houndoom, as the Arcanine found out Saturday afternoon after they woke up both in his bed remembering very little from after lunch Friday).
