Something new!

Alright furs and gals. This is something I've been cooking up, a new series so I dont get burned out on my other series, like playing another MMO so I dont get brurnt out on WoW. Check out this little slice of imagination removed with surgical precision from my mind. Also still trying to figure out this new system.

Chapter One

Darkness Before Dawn

It was another boring day. Out for the winter break, I decided to stay in town unlike the other students, flocking back home for presents and free food. My family decided to spend this holiday season somewhere warmer. I personally don't mind the cold, and let them know I needed to catch up on a few things before next semester. The town was virtually empty as I stayed and watched from my apartment window. The skies were grey with the promise of snow. The wind howled as the weather was more bark than bite. I clasped my hot coffee to steal some warmth into my hands as I sat back in front of my computer.

I love the internet, saved me the trouble of having to go out and buy, then wrap, and eventually deliver everyone's gifts from the comfort of my chair. I smiled as I finished the last of my gag gifts. After moving to this town, I hadn't had much time to catch up and see my friends back at home, but they had been busy as well, so it wasn't much of a problem, having only been gone for half a year. I sighed as I put down my mug and fell backwards onto my bed, my tail twitched as it hit my scattered cloths on the ground. I scratched my belly before heading to the bathroom. I had a list of things to do today, with my roommates gone; all the house work fell on me. I brushed my head fur flat as it stuck up in various peaks from my sleep. My ears lay flat as I brushed each black tip. I gave myself a good look in the mirror, and patted my belly. Slightly fat, but in a cute sort of way, I thought as I stared at the fox in the mirror, a shady, brown fur and creamy belly, with black fur on the ends of my paws, tail, and ears. I could see my eyes were missing the spark of joy. It wasn't quite full blown depression, but I couldn't help but feel down lately. My days were boring, and I rarely leave the apartment anymore. Well I still had things to do, and so I ventured out.

Before going to the market, I stopped by my favorite café for a winter beverage. It was pretty empty, except for the people who own no other residence other than in this city. I shivered as I kept my hands deep in my coat pockets and ordered. I waited to the side, glancing around, seeing if there were any faces I recognized. I looked over, and then my eyes stopped on the wolf in the corner. Usually my eyes would just keep going, but they would not rip themselves away from him. Dark grey fur, he looked to be about early to mid twenties, and yet, older. He looked up at me, and I could see his eyes held a spark of happiness about something, the same spark that had faded from my stare. He smiled and I looked back as the kangaroo behind the counter called my order. I picked it up and went to my usual table, which just happened to be right next to the wolf. I laid back and stared at the sky, and sipped, wondering when the snow would hit. "I'd say about a few hours." I heard from behind me.

"Excuse me?" I said turning slowly wondering had someone been talking to me.

"I said I'd figure it be a few hours, before it starts snowing," said the wolf, in a deep voice.

"Ah, yeah, did I really look that interested in it?" I said.

"Well, you went completely still, and continued to stare upwards, I'd say it wasn't more than a passing glance," he said with a smirk. I just smiled back and finished my coffee. I sat for another second, before I left to the market. I looked back, and apparently the wolf had already left. I mentally shrugged and left. The air bit my nose as I walked out, but it wasn't long before I had stepped into the market. I sniffled as I went to grab a few groceries, wiping my nose before I reached for the last bottle of my favorite fruit juice. My paw bumped into another as I looked over my shoulder to see who it was attached to. It was the wolf from the café. I smiled and looked up at him.

"Fancy meeting you here, in this market, grabbing this juice," I said as I pulled it into my basked while he was staring at me.

"You mean was grabbing this juice," he said as he pulled his paw back.

"Yes, my juice," I said moving down the aisle.

"My favorite juice," he said.

"Mine too," I said walking faster, the wolf still following. I turned around and said, "Do you need something?" I said stopping.

"Well, we all need things," he said in the same smart ass tone I usually use. I just smirked at him and nudged him.

"Well then, nothing I can do for ya." I said moving to his side.

"You're cold," he said, sticking his tongue out at me.

I shook my head, he was a playful one, but I already feel the need to retreat back to my apartment, too much social action in one day. "Yes, and I suppose, and you must be some big, fuzzy bundle of joy?"

"What if I am?" he said, grabbing random junk foods.

"Then you are what you are,"

"You could lighten up a bit, you know?"

"You're a complete stranger who's harassing me in a super market, and you insist that I lighten up? No, I'm fine the way I am, in the dark, it's quite nice,"

"Is it really?" he said, his tone seemed to be solid, empty of previous humor.

I felt the need to respond, thought something I was almost scared to utter another word to him, but my mouth moved on its own, I swallowed the growing lump in my throat and answered him, "Not really...but it's what I am, and like I said, you are what you are,"

"Fine, then what am I?" he asked.

I stopped, and looked him over. He looked like another college student, baggy pants, and loose hoodie around a tight shirt that stretched around his chest, a defined line of muscles pushed against the cloth. His dark fur seemed extremely clean to a slight shine. Then I looked into his eyes once more, he grinned as I saw the lights behind his eyes seemed to glow brighter. I shook my head, "A wolf, just some guy who has nothing better to do like me than to walk around and talk to strangers,"

He walked right up to me, and grabbed my paw that I had apparently had midway up. "I'm Brandon," he said with a firm grip, shaking my paw.

"Umm, I'm Aiden. Nice to meet ya, I guess,"

"Pleasure, so you go to school here?"

"Uh, yeah, how about you?"

"No, I'm just in town for a bit to see some friends, but they're gone on some last minute shopping at the mall,"

"Mall? The closest mall is six counties over,"

"Yeah, it is isn't it? Guess I got some time to burn,"

"Well, if you need to know where anything is, I'm pretty good at directions,"

"Well I actually did need some directions, my friend handed me her key before she left, do you know where the Lilly Creek Apartments are?" he asked.

I smiled, "Yeah, that's actually where I live, it was behind the café." I said.

"Oh really? Do you mind showing me?" I sighed, but he was giving me the puppy eyes. I nodded and headed to check out. We headed out back into the cold, and he followed me back to the apartments. I got out and he parked next to me. "Hey, know where building C is?"

I pointed in front of me, "Right there, that's my building,"

"Oh neat, she stays in room 304."

"Cool, that's the place next to mine, what was her name...Sheryl I think,"

"You know her?"

"Just her name, she's rarely home," I said as we walked up to the third floor. I nodded and opened my door.

"You live by yourself?" he asked.

"Pretty much, it's nice, I like the quiet,"

"Mind if I trouble you for one more thing?" he said, knowing somewhere he was trying to twist my patience.

"Yes?"

"Could I please get... a cup of that juice?"

"You really must like this, fine, come on over," his tail wagged, and he followed me in like a puppy getting a treat. I went to the kitchen and grabbed two glasses and filled them. I pushed one over to him and he grabbed it and sniffed the glass. "They're clean,"

"No, it's not that, I love the smell, the color,"

"Smells like sugar, and the color, well I'd say it's about the color of blood,"

"Yes...red's my favorite color," I raised an eyebrow, the crimson juice was red, but a dark red. I sat down and hit my remote to see if anything was on. Idly flipping through channels, my mind wandered elsewhere.

"Oh, right there, I love this movie!" he said as my hand stopped itself from changing the channel. I looked up to see him sit down on the opposite end of the couch. I watched the set for a second. I wasn't much for television, but it did make excellent background noise. I watched the movie with Brandon for a while. It was a comedy about some guys getting drunk and drugged in Vegas. I couldn't stop laughing. I looked over and Brandon was helping himself to a second glass. I smiled, and wondered 'when was the last time I've ever had company over'.

I lay back on the couch and stretched my legs, and watched the next movie that came on. At some point, I fell asleep, and I woke up to the smell of something delicious cooking. I looked over at my kitchen and Brandon was cooking something in there. I sat up slowly and watched him as he tossed things into a hot pan behind his back while he sniffed through my cabinets. I got up slowly and wandered over, the smells making my mouth water.

"Oh hey Aiden, didn't mean to wake ya up, but Sheryl's stove doesn't work. You've been so nice to me today, so I thought I'd return a favor and cook ya dinner."

"Oh, yeah, that smell...sounds and smells great."

He just smiled at me, and threw some meat into the pan, making a small cloud of smoke waft up, "Go ahead and sit down, it's almost done," he said. I walked back over to the living room, the tv was still on and mindless cartoons we're playing, and I sat down and waited for dinner. It seemed like it had only been seconds since I've sat down, but plates were laid down before me when I heard a fork hit the table, I realized everything was set already. I blinked wondering had it really been that long since I started watching tv, but apparently mindless cartoons was a bigger distraction than some guy I just met is in my house with a knife in my kitchen.

"Dig in," he said, with half a mouthful. So I did, and everything was as delicious as it smelled. After finishing the nice meal Brandon had prepared, we sat back and drank the rest of the juice.

"God that was delicious," I said patting my belly.

"Sure was, could use some dessert," he said. I smiled, and I caught my eyes wandering down the wolf in front of me. He was a handsome one, but even if he was gay, I doubt he'd be interested in me.

"Sorry, no ice cream," I said.

"Oh no worries, I think I want something a bit warmer," he said, suddenly something was different about him.

"Like pie?" I said, wondering what just changed.

"Pie is warmer, but not warm enough," I stood up and walked some dishes over to the sink. I felt a shiver down my spine as soon as I turned my back to him. I turned my head quickly, but he was still sitting down. I heard him laugh, "Man, this is funny, say Aiden, do you believe in vampires?"

"Not really, I think that they were a perfectly nice fictional character that got a little too much attention, and then became an economic staple for pre teens through books and movies,"

"Wow, I didn't even ask why yet,"

"Well, why do you ask?" I said, starting to wash the dishes.

"Well, I believe in them, crazy as it sounds,"

"Alright, say if they were real, why don't they take power, I mean living forever, cursing people to be their slaves, super abilities compared to regular mortals, why not, I can understand staying under the radar, but at some point they'd have to do something, you'd have to get pretty bored, like having a toy and not playing with it, as much as that is, we're all still somewhat childish, I mean look at us with technology, always gotta have the latest and greatest."

"Hmm, I see, but you ever think that still they're people like you and me?"

"Really? I mean killing machines that thirst on blood, and are driven insane to have a food source, that they don't have other needs like you and me, I mean had I super strength I'd use it to parallel park better. You got something you should use it right?"

"Well, that's true, but don't you think It be noticeable if they left a trail of dead bodies?"

"What would you do if you had to cover up dead bodies?"

"I'd drink the blood of people who are hospitalized and unconscious, or people who are in horrible car wrecks who would have died anyways, or be a serial killer, what ever works,"

"Wow, you must have been asked that one before,"

"You probably don't want to know,"

I felt a chill again, and looked over, this time Brandon was gone. I wandered over to the living room, but I felt breathing upon the back of my neck. I turned sharply, but no one was there. I started to freak out. "Brandon, dude, where'd ya go?" I called out. I head something from my room, and walked over to my door. I walked over carefully, and opened my door, something touched my shoulder and I jumped forward and yipped.

"Did I scare ya?" he said, grinning.

"Jesus, what the fuck dude,"

"Sorry, was in the bathroom, but yes, dessert,"

"What about it?" I said before the lights went off, I looked around, but only the glow of the street lights could be seen from my blinds. "Hmm, never had a power out before," I couldn't hear Brandon. "Brandon?" I said as I stepped back. Suddenly something pushed me into my wall; I coughed as my torso was slammed against the drywall. I pushed against what I could assume was Brandon. I gasped, but I felt his paw grab my throat roughly. I wrapped my arms around it and tried to pull it away, but it felt like a solid piece of steel. I coughed for breath and my legs kicked against the wall, realizing now that I was suspended off the ground.

"Warned ya, you don't want to know," I heard his voice whisper.

I whined and kicked as my heart raced. I continued to push, but it was useless. I stopped fighting, and waited.

"When I first saw you, your mind was dark, but I saw through that, don't threat, I won't kill you; in fact, I'm going to change your life." I panicked, and began to squirm more, but he punched me in the gut, causing my body to contort in pain.

"Don't worry buddy, I said I'm not gonna kill you, and if you were to become a vampire, you'd have to die first, just relax, and you'll see what I mean, now time for that dessert."

I let out another whine as he tilted my neck, I felt him breathing over my exposed flesh as he pressed his nose into it. I winced as his tongue pressed against a spot, wetting the fur down as he continued to lick. I felt weak as he continued to lick. Soon the licks became a slight suckling, my mind kept waiting for the bite, but slowly relaxed and murred as it felt more like kissing. I couldn't think straight, was he going to bite me or seduce me, either way, I was helpless. I was going limp as he still held me up against the wall, the paw around my throat had let up enough to breathe and speak, but I had no words, only sighs and murrs.

I was so relaxed; I didn't feel his fangs press through my skin. He began to suck, but it felt no different than getting a hickie. I felt at peace, it was strange, like I was floating, with this wolf holding on to me. I closed my eyes, and wondered back to what he meant by changing my life. I started to feel Brandon press into me, as he bit deeper. I felt him growl as he continued to drink. I could hear something in the distance of my mind. It seemed to be coming from the wolf. 'So good,' I could hear him clearly now. I started to hear his thoughts, and feel what he was feeling, but soon everything became cloudy once more, this time I blacked out completely.
