#1 of Cave Story- If Quote wasn't there...

This is a Fanfiction of a freeware game called Cave Story. If you haven't played it, download it now, if you have, then you should have a pretty good idea what's going on. I'm currently still working out the story, the Hero of the game has been replaced with a Mimiga Soldier named Ace. If anything I'm going to keep the story broken up in small short chapters... It'll help keep movitivated. * * *

Bzzt ~~! Bzzt~~! Ace growled loudly, rolling over and curling up tighter within his bed, trying hard to ignore the constant ringing of his alarm clock, something that most beast would do, but most of the time, the harder you try to ignore your alarm, the louder it seems to ring. It didn't take long for Ace to roll over and slap his alarm off the side table, dragging his feet out of his bed and getting ready for the day. He really didn't like waking up anymore, dreaming seemed to be a good solution for the problems at hand. Escaping reality was always a great way to avoid problems... but that didn't mean those problems would be solved. You see, Ace was a Mimiga. A small, bunny-like creature. He had a soft, white pelt and large floppy ears, but he definetly was not a lapine. He lacked the cute pink nose... There was also the fact that he stood on two legs, knew how to shoot a gun, spoke an understable language, and that if he consumed a certain type of flower, he would transform into a large, nearly unstoppable creature, become crazed, and determined to destroy whatever he got his gigantic hands on... especially if it went squish. He and the other Mimigas lived within a floating island, they were brought to the island ages ago, by Jenka, an elderly witch. Currently, though, the Mimigas were having problems. You see, a human scientist from the 'surface' had gotten his slimy paws on a crown with great power and had been kidnapping the Mimigas one by one, in hopes to create an army using the mimigas and the red flowers. His crown allowed him control of two powerful Minions. Balrog, a walking toaster. He's strong, heavy, and a bit dimwitted. He's constantly being picked on by Misery, a skilled and powerful witch, with the beauty to match, not surprisingly, she's Jenka's daughter. Ace groaned, grabbing an oversized green T-shirt and slipping it onto his slim, agile body. It was the current style of clothing within the Mimiga village, even though there weren't many to impress. There was only two females left in the village. Toroko, sister of the Mimiga hero, Arthur. She was a sweet girl, extremely cute... and Sue, a Mysterious female that had recently appeared within the village and was staying with Toroko. She was a Mimiga, yes, but there was just something not right about her. He was one of the last seven Mimigas in the village, well eight counting Sue, but the village leader hadn't exactly taken a liking to her and didn't consider her a resident... It had become a really depressing and lonely place. Ace ruffled his headfur and tossed his head back, slipping on his trademark hat.It was green, like his clothing, with an ace drawn on the front. He also took the handgun off the table near his bed. With such a dangerous world, he had gotten used to carrying a weapon around with him, wherever he went. It was a simple gun, while not very powerful, it was accurate and much better than nothing. He opened the door to his home and stepped outside, stepping quickly towards the reservoir . He had promised his friend Kanpachi, that he'd go fishing with him today. On the way to the reservoir , Ace came across two arguing mimigas. He immediatly reconized the two. There was Toroko, she was such a cute Mimiga, almost like a little girl, she was brave, to say the least. Ace could honestly admit that he had quite a few fantasies of her, though he was ashamed to say so. Who could blame him? There weren't many choices left for him... Then there was King. A rough, strong male, he had been appointed leader after Arthur died. He was stubborn, only because he cared so much about the village. He had a large scar that ran down his cheek, Ace had always wondered how King had got it. He was skilled and favored the blade over the gun. He was Ace's best friend, even though it often didn't seem like that way. They were very competetive with each other, they'd often challenge each other in sports, wrestling, even intellectual games. While King fierce and alot stronger than Ace, Ace tended to be calmer, more agile, and was able to strategize well. King learned not to challenge Ace in one thing for too long, otherwise, Ace would become too skilled at the game. King often wondered if Ace worked on his strategies beforehand. "Hand over the key!" King growled softly, obviously frustrated with Toroko. "No, I won't!" Sue shouted, backing away from King. "Are you trying to protect Sue? She's not one of us!" "Sue's a good person, I'd never betray her!" "Toroko..." King's tone changed, sounding a lot more concerned, "When the doctor comes, you know he'll take someone away again... If we don't turn Sue over, it might be you he takes instead." "But... but..." Toroko whimpered softly. "The key, Toroko!" King shouted suddenly. This caused Toroko to leap backwards and bump into Ace. She screeched in surprise, turning around, and shoving Ace to the side. The surprised male tumbled to the ground, and Toroko dashed off, clutching the key to her home tightly within her hand. King stood there, shaking his head back and forth, snarling softly. Ace got to his feet slowly, glancing in the direction Toroko ran off, then back to King. "Well, looks like we have another eventful day." Ace said, in a sarcastic tone. King just just crossed his arms, glancing at Ace. "You know, even if we do hand over Sue, we'll all be taken away eventually." "What makes you so sure?!" King seemed immediatly upset. Ace shrugged and shook his head back and forth slowly. "I'm not, but... I geuss we can just call it a feeling." And with that said, Ace and King passed each other, nothing more to be said. He'd talk to King later, when he wasn't so upset. Ace himself was a bit upset, King willing to give up a female so willingly... Ace hurried to the reservoir , he was late enough as it was. Even though Kanpachi wouldn't be going anywhere. That Mimiga loved to fish so much. Then again, it was a great way to waste a day, even if they didn't catch anything. It seemed that was all Ace was doing lately was killing time, he had accepted the fact that soon he too would be taken away by the doctor and experimented on, more than likely killed. He spotted his friend at the end of a pier and took a seat beside him. "Hey, Kan." Ace had nicked named his friend, though Kanpachi still seemed a bit annoyed at being called that. "Hey, Ace. What took you so long? Sue was just here." Kanpachi lifted a long wooden pole off the pier and handed it to Ace, who immediatly casted his line out into the water. "Really? What did she want?" Ace asked, calmly, letting his legs dangle off the side of the pier. "Eh, I dunno. I saw her fall into the water. She doesn't seem to like us much... I don't know why, since she's a mimiga just like us."
