Linara was looking around at all the damage this latest raid had caused. She sighed and lowered her head.

''Why didn't they just stop? They could've prevented all of this bloodshed!'' She said as she let a few tears drop down her face. Zakedas put his head down in sorrow as well.

''I'm deeply sorry for all this pain. I wish things could've gone differently,'' he said to her.

The wolf stepped quietly out of the hut, looking at all of the destruction, and eventually turning his head to the both of them. He felt the sadness that she was feeling.

''C'mon, Zakedas. You lead the way,'' he said. Linara looked up at him, her face wet with her tears. After a few moments, she nodded and stood up.

''Zakedas. Let's go,'' she said, wiping her tears away. Zakedas stood up slowly and walked past the wolf. They followed him.

''Where are we going?'' Linara said. The wolf was wondering the same thing.

''Back to camp. As per my orders. We were told that if we were able to bring some villagers back, that it might aid in our search for the source.'' He paused. ''Although, I don't think he anticipated willing subjects.'' He chuckled at this. Linara and the wolf looked at each other with worried expressions on their faces. They continued following Zakedas' lead. They finally came to the edge of the forest surrounding the village barrier.

''It's not too far to the camp, now. Just a few kilometres,'' Zakedas said. The wolf looked around at the trees. They seemed familiar. His eyes opened wide. This was the forest that he had been left to die in. He started looking around for the tree his blood was spilt on. Linara seemed unnerved. She was shaking and suspiciously looking around.

''Is everything alright, Linara?'' The wolf asked. She kept looking around the forest; her breaths grew shorter.

''It's the calming effect. She's getting too far from the source. She'll be fine, just as long as she is kept as calm as possible,'' Zakedas said. ''Let's go. We're not far.'' The wolf held her in a soothing embrace as they continued on towards the camp.
