#2 of Unnamed Wolf Story

He awoke back in the bed. Linara was sitting on the edge of the bed conversing with a figure sitting in a char to his right. It appeared to be the intruder who he had attacked. The captive resembled a half cat, half sloth, and had tan and white fur. He was calmly sitting in the chair answering Litana's questions.

"Who are you?", she demanded. "My name is Zakedas." He stood resilient, not answering more than he had to. The wolf could tell that she was getting frustrated. The tone of her voice sounded stern and unfaltering. "Why does your clan keep attacking us?! We have nothing of value here. We're just trying to live our lives!" Zakedas was quiet. He was thinking of his reply. Linara grew even more impatient. "We...we've been trying to find something." "What?", she responded. He sighed. "We don't really know. It's different each time. But there is one part of it that stays the same. It's energy is always here. We can sense it. Can't you?". He looked at the wolf, who was sitting up, listening intently to the conversation. "You, wolf. You feel it don't you? Something different here." What?", the wolf replied. "I guess there is something different here. It feels serene. Even during the attack, I felt calm. Well, calmer than usual in that situation." Linara was looking at the wolf as well. "Linara...don't you feel something?" She responded "I don't feel anything different. It's been like this for as long as I can remember. I've been here for a long time, though. Maybe I've gotten used to it." She turned her attention back to Zakedas." So, what would you do if you found the source of this feeling? What are your orders?" "I...don't know. We were never told. We were just supposed to eliminate the violence. Then we could begin the search for whatever it was that was causing this." Linara looked surprised. "Why did you attack all of these people?", the wolf inquired. "They attacked us first. We knew they weren't going to just stop if we asked them. They seemed so intent on driving us off. We had no choice." Linara opened the door and looked outside. She sighed. She calmly walked back the the bed, leaving the door open. The expression on Zakedas' face showed true sorrow and regret. "Please. I never meant to harm all those people."

Linara sat silently for a while, pondering this situation. "Okay." She untied the bindings from Zakedas' body. He stood up. "Thanks." He started walking towards the door. "Wait." Linara held her hand in front of him. "We're coming, too. I want to know exactly what's going on." She turned towards the wolf. "Get dressed. Meet us outside." Linara and Zakedas walked outside of the hut. The wolf picked up his clothes from the table beside the bed, and got dressed as he headed for the door.
