#3 of Unnamed Wolf Story

"Thud!" The wolf woke up suddenly, turning his head towards the source of the sound. "Thud!" Another. And some screaming muffled by the wood. He uncovered, his leg still bloodied and weak. The wolf limped to the door, and cracked it open ever so slightly. Outside, he witnessed countless people being attacked by intruders. A few of the residents had taken up arms, trying to repel the invaders. Bodies were scattered across the ground.

The wolf quickly but quietly shut the door and sunk to the ground. He sat there on the ground for a few seconds, grabbing his wounded leg to ease the pain. His attention quickly turned to the door, where it flew open, and Linara came rushing in, closing the door behind her. She, too, sunk down against the door, blocking entry. She was out of breath. "What the hell is happening out there?!", the wolf questioned. His eyes were wide, evident of fear. "Every so often, this village gets attacked by marauders. Sometimes it's months, others, days. They always catch us by surprise. If it keeps up, we'll all be dead." The screams stopped. She slowly cracked open the door, and peeked outside. She quickly closed the door. "They're still out there. I think one of them might have seen me."

The door slammed into Linara's head. "Shit!" The intruder grabbed her by the hair and started dragging her out of the hut. The wolf glanced around for a weapon. He settled on a chair across the room. He jumped up off the floor and grabbed the chair. "Hey!" The intruder looked up at him. "Whack!" He was lying on the ground just outside the hut, with bits and pieces of the chair scattered about. He stood there, looking at the scene. Linara was staring back at him with a startled look on her face. "Thanks.", she said, still staring at him. Her words grabbed his attention. "Huh? Oh. You're welcome." He reached down to help her up. She smiled. He tried to smile back, but the weight on his leg caused excruciating pain. He collapsed on the ground, unconscious.
