#2 of Amazing Race All Stars

The winners of the first Boomerang Ticket have been chosen. But, I'm not going to reveal them yet. Why spoil the story when you can read it...? ;3

Here's part two

Previously on part one the Amazing Race All-Stars premiere, 18 teams from the past returned for a second chance at the million dollar prize; all the teams that you love and love to hate. At the first challenge, teams either had to pop balloons to find a clue or scarf down eggs as fast as they could. Cal and Griffin had fun with the latter task, but everybody else struggled with the Detour. In the end, everyone made it to the airport on time.

Flight #1 is already in the air, Norway-bound. The second flight is taking off right now. But the humans, bakers, drivers, daters, graduates, and phone operators stuck on the last flight and will be delayed by a full hour. Will one of these teams be the first eliminated from the race? And which team has possession of the first Boomerang Ticket? Those answers (and more) coming up because it's time for... the Amazing Race All-Stars.

***

"Oslo, Norway is home to over 700,000 people," Toner, the host of the race narrates. "Originally named 'Christiania', Oslo is known for its spacious greenery as well as its Viking history. Teams on the first flight have landed. Now they need to find the clue box in order to continue."

***

The sun is nearing the horizon after a long day. The first six teams to arrive in Norway race out of the airport where the tip box is located. Chris reaches it first. "'Norsing Around'?" he asks. "It's a One-Way."

One-Ways require both members of each team to participate. In this case, teams must take cabs to a local pier and board ferries to the island of Hovedøya. Once there, teams must search through the ancient Monastery ruins for their next tip.

"Taxi!" Eddy whistles.

Tips in paw, the teams race off to continue their lead. Among the first to arrive are the olympians, who are waiting anxiously for the boat to depart. "Is this thing planning on leaving?" Tammy asks. The sound of screeching tires fill her ears. She looks to see the other teams run on board just in time. The skunk growls to herself then stops when she sees Rachel's scowl. "I need to work on the better."

Zander stays cuddled in Griffin's arms for the short boat ride. This is great, he thinks, last year we hung around the back of the pack; but this time we're in first place! Albeit we're tied with 5 others, but it's still first.

The ferry docks on the island and our six lead teams run off in search of the ruins. Several stone brick structures surrounded by row after row of trees. The marines head off on their own, roaming around the stone house-like building. The prostitutes follow them. We hang onto them for now, Jon thought, and later on, we zip by them and win the whole thing.

Zack already has his paws and nose sniffing for clues. "What are you doing?" Devon asks as he helps Jon move some old stones.

"Using my nose to track the clues," Zack answers. "Toner was the one that hid him and I know his scent very well. I think." He sticks his nose to the ground. "None to be found here. Let's check out over there." Chris runs to follow him.

They pass by Ren & Cal, who search above as opposed to below. "See anything up there?" Cal asks.

"Nope," Ren shouts back. The fox balances himself on a tree branch, using the larger base to stand up on his feet. A nearby bird's nest bumps him on the head once he's fully on his feet. The blue cardinal that was occupying it flies out and bumps him in the head, causing him to lose balance. Cal catches the fox in his arms. "Thanks. I didn't see anything in the trees."

"You're telling me." They look over to Griffin, who has his paw literally inside a hole dug out of a tree. "I cannot find anything in here." The fat tiger does get his paws on a few nuts. But not just any nuts; acorns. "This won't end pretty will it?" he asks. He looks up and sees a couple feral squirrels looking down and giving him the evil eye.

Griffin gets up to run but they catch up quickly, knocking him off his feet. Zander notices something sticking out of the acorn pile in the tree. The wolf grabs it and pulls it out. The next clue!

"Yes!" he exclaims. His attention goes back to his mate, who is covered in two angry rodents. Zander thinks fast, grabbing each squirrel by the tail and hurling them as far away as he could. "I've got the next tip."

"I've possibly got rabies," Griffin replies. His face and chest are covered in numerous scratches.

"I doubt that." The wolf reads the clue aloud. "It's a Roadblock: 'The Cost of Frokost'. Head to Hotell Bondeheimen where one of you must eat a basic Norwegian breakfast. Once your teammate has an empty plate, the manager himself will give you the first checkpoint of the All-Star race." But eat fast because the last team to arrive at the completion carpet... will be sent home.

The co-workers head out to maintain their lead. But some of the other teams are starting to catch up. Barbara uses the same method those slut boys were using earlier, looking under rocks. Except she casually tosses them over her shoulder. One of them hits Eddy in the head with a thump! "Ow!" he cries, rubbing the sore spot.

"Oops. My bad." Barbara does the same thing, hitting him again. "Okay, that time it was on purpose." She snickers. Her and Eddy are still on good terms, but she still enjoys picking on the little twerp every now and then.

The male wolf finds a clue buried under a tree root. "At least now you can't throw any more rocks at me," he says, relieved. But his guard isn't down completely.

The marines find the third clue buried between two bricks. Surprisingly, it was Chris who spotted it. "I can't believe my nose failed me," Zack says, tail limp.

Chris wraps an arm around him. "Hey, don't beat yourself up; you did great." Even though he was a little silly using his canine instincts too much. But Chris thought it was adorable. "Besides, we're still ahead."

Yes they are, but not for long. The second flight has landed and those six teams are on their way to join those already searching for clues. The co-workers, critics, and marines work to keep at the head of the pack. When teams from the other plane arrive, the olympians begin to panic. "Crap," Tammy curses, "we were nearly an hour ahead of them and now we're going to lose our lead."

Rachel scours the landscape from the roof of the stone house, looking for any signs of clues. "I can't find anything from up here," she says. Ren was right, looking up isn't a good idea. But looking down...

The cat jumps off the roof, landing on both of her feet. "I think Toner may have hid them underneath something..." Rachel looks around at the stone wall in front of her. She looks to the ground and notices something papery and red sticking out from the bottom. She grabs it and pulls to find the next clue. "Got it!"

The olympians run off, passing the twins and frat bros as they do. "So, are we thinking about working together again this season?" Kitty asks.

Normally Kit cuts in to say it would be a terrible idea, but the frat bros really helped them last year. That is, until they had no choice but to ditch them in order to win. "I totally agree," Jasper says, pulling them together for a group hug. "Superteam version two-point-oh!"

"This is going to be awesome!" Mitch howls in excitement. "Wait! We need to get those vegetarian dudes on board. They were with us last time too."

"You go do that," Kit says, "me and Kitty will look for clues." The twins split up to cover more ground.

The fraternity brothers run over to where Joey & Miles are searching near a flower bed that was planted there. "Hey!" Jasper greets them. "Looks like the whole superteam from last year is all back together. What do you say about restarting the alliance?"

Joey stands up at their greeting, but with a less pleasant look on her face; a look of determination. "Sorry boys, but alliances were our downfall last year."

"Yeah," Miles agrees. "It was awfully nice of you guys to split the money with us last year, but this year, it's every team for themselves." They walk away to search someplace else to prove their point.

Mitch tears up at the sight of them leaving. "Bummer, dude," he says. Jasper pats him on the back.

Angie notices the boys walk away on the verge of crying. Jennifer hangs down from a tree branch by her legs. "Nothing up here yet," she says. "How are things on the ground?"

"Negative," Angie informs her. "You know what I just saw? Jasper & Mitch are reforming their alliance with the twins. You know what that means?" Jen shrugs. "It means we need to rebuild our axis alliance with Jack & Maria. With both of us together, nothing can go wrong."

Jen shrugs again. "I don't see why not. But remember what happened last time; they went home the day after. Perhaps we should wait a while before we go and bringing them back into our circle." Angie sighs. She knows the collie is right.

Judy & Nick's strategy is to look between any crack that they can find. Knowing Toner, he would probably hide them between floor boards somewhere. "Any luck yet?" Judy asks.

"Not yet," Nick answers. "So much for our luck in the last leg." Things were so much simpler when he and Carrots had ahold of that circular blade. But it might not be as much of use here this time.

Jon eventually find a clue in a pine tree. Kit & Kitty find theirs at the stone house, tied to the ceiling (they had to climb onto each other's shoulders just to reach it). The girls help Jasper & Mitch get theirs from another acorn pile similar to the one Griffin found earlier. Finally, Cal retrieves one that was sticking out of the grass. This race just gets weirder and weirder, the bear thinks.

***

At the Hotel, a few cabs screech their tires outside and the two teams riding in them race inside. "So which one of us is going to be eating?" Eddy asks. Barbara gives him a dirty look, as if he's about to be in trouble. He groans. "Fine, I'll do it."

Chris & Zack take a seat near a window. "I'll do the eating," the wolf says. Zack was fine with that. He wasn't very hungry, especially after sticking his nose in dirt for nearly a half an hour.

The race for first heats up as a Norwegian waitress brings our contestants their meals. A basic frokost in Norway consists of milk, coffee, cereal, and Smørrebrød (buttered rye bread topped with lunch meat, cheese, and various spreads). Chris and Eddy chow down to maintain their lead.

Meanwhile, the third flight has finally landed. With all 18 teams in Norway, the race to not come in last is becoming intense. Back on the island, the officers find a clue hidden underneath the surface of a mud pile (they had to spend some time cleaning that up). Maria finds a tip at the top of a wall that ends in a stair-step.

She hops down from the wall with the clue in paw and winces upon impact. "Ouch," she says, grabbing her ankle. "I think I may have sprained something."

"Here, grab my arm." Jack loops his arm around her shoulders and helps her walk back to where the ferry waits to take teams back to shore. But those from the third flight are already on the island, milling about to search for clues.

"Where do you suggest we look?" Syd asks his partner.

"I don't care," Brent says, "as long as it isn't anywhere near 'her'." That is what he has come to refer to as his ex-girlfriend. Syd mentally slaps himself. Where's June when he needs her?

The yellow wolf is doing what some of the others were doing earlier, looking from a tree. Syd sneaks over to her when no one is looking. "Hey!" he calls out. When he's sure he has her attention, he says, "Do you have some sort of plan to get these two back together?"

"I've got nothing!" June shouts. "I may be a genius but I don't know the first thing about love." The only knowledge that she has is from romantic drama movies she watched with her mother before she left. And that was years ago. She jumps down from the tree and joins Syd in searching for tips. Maybe a plan will come to them then.

"You can do it, baby!" Josee cheers. Ryan fends off a squirrel that is guarding one of the clues.

"Why are there so many clues buried in nuts?!" the aggravated wolf asks. But of course he already knew the answer: because anything Toner can do to make this game harder and more miserable for them, he's going to do it.

The tigress moves in for the clue while Ryan gets the nut stash's owner far away enough for her to retriever. A second squirrel gives her the evil eyes. "Uh-uh, not today," she sasses and punches the vermin in the nose. "Come on, Ryan! Quit playing with that thing!" The wolf rips the rodent off of his muzzle.

The telephone operators search without saying a word. Sindy figures that if they don't speak, they can be more focused on the challenge and less likely to fall behind. This is only a theory though. Jennifer falls out of a tree and lands directly on top of Sally. "Ooof!" the beige vixen utters.

"I am so sorry!" Jen says, helping her to her feet. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." The vixen looks down and sees something red sticking out from underneath a dandelion. "Though you just helped me find the next tip. Thanks." While her tail sways, Jen curses to herself.

Sindy takes the clue and is about to run when Sally pulls her back. "Maybe we should help the sorority sisters," Sally insists. "They just helped us."

Sindy rolls her eyes. "You really want to take a risk in helping the enemy?" she asks.

"What choice do we have? Without Max & Lucius on our side this year, we're going to need their help later on. They're strong players." Sindy grumbles and rolls her eyes.

"Fine," she says. "But only because we're not in last place."

***

The prostitutes and olympians arrive at the Hotel next. One whiff of the place and Jon can already tell that there's going to be an eating challenge. That and Eddy and Chris are busy chowing down. "You should do it," he says to Dev, "you're a faster eater than me."

"Hey!"

"It's sad but it's true. Plus, we might need your strength later on." Devon sighs, knowing that there isn't a way out of this.

Tammy steps up to the plate for her team in the challenge. "How hard can it be?" she asks. She mostly wanted to prove to Rachel that she is still a team player. Plus eating challenges aren't that bad. Unless there are cucumbers involves; they're good for your eyes, but not for the taste buds.

Zander comes in next, sweating his arse off by carrying a half-conscious Griffin in his paws. "As it turns out," the wolf says, "Griffin has a slight nut allergy so, he's in-and-out right now. Which sucks because we need an eating champ right now. Guess I'll have to do it."

The wolf takes a seat near the entrance, propping Griffin up in the seat across from him. The tiger dozes off for a second, telling himself to wake back up. Other teams from the first task begin to arrive. Some of the larger guys end up drawing the short end of the stick (*cough* Cal and Jack *cough), but for a couple of our teams, some of them volunteer to eat the Norwegian breakfast.

"I'll go!" Jasper says.

"Right there with you." Kitty runs with him to a four-person table in the corner.

Josee takes a look at the food one of them must eat and shivers. She nudges her partner towards the inside. "You're eating, no questions," she bosses. "Why should I be the one to eat the disgusting food?"

Ryan's ears flicker in anger. "You're right," he says sarcastically. "Maybe you shouldn't. After all, we can't have any more added to your hips than there already is." Josee gasps in horror and slaps him in the muzzle. "Alright! Alright! I'll do it!" He rubs his sore cheek.

Josee kisses where she hit him. That's better, she thinks.

***

With the help of Sally & Sindy, Angie & Jennifer find their next clue. Miles & Joey backtrack to the nearby garden they were looking through and they are shocked to find a tip underneath a daisy. "I cannot believe this!" Joey says, her tail sharply wagging. "It was right in plain sight the whole time!"

Miles pats her on the shoulder. "Toner likes to use that trick. Why haven't we learned anything about this race yet?" But he already knew the answer; it's because they weren't the most observant team.

The title of that goes to the humans, who found their clue tied to a branch of a willow tree. "It's weird what you find in places you've never been to," Brent says. He tries to leave but Syd tugs on his sleeve.

"June & Mabel are having trouble," he says, pointing over his shoulder. The wolf and cat have resorted to digging in random spots to try to find a tip. "Maybe we should go help them like we did a long time ago?"

Brent shakes his head. "No way. We're already behind. No need to help them and drag ourselves further." He runs on. Seeing no other option, Syd runs to join him.

Donna scales the side of the stone building, eyeballing a tip which is tied to the apex of the roof. "How in the world does Toner get these clues up here?" she asks herself.

Vito, waiting down below and also holding his arms out in case she falls, calls out, "I'm not sure! But can you hurry up, we're in 16th place right now!" That is the lowest that the drivers have ever been.

Same case for the bakers. They are using the same method that the graduates are using, only more frantic. Claudia tenses up every time a clump of dirt catches onto her claws. Maybe because the last time she lost a claw, it felt weird with it being gone. Now that it's back, she isn't ready for it to be gone again.

"Can you try a little harder?" Hans asks.

She scowls. "You think I'm not trying enough? You try losing a claw and then using them again." When Hans glares at her, she smiles innocently. "I guess you're right. I need to step up my game. Here..." She grabs a pawful of dirt and hurls it at him. But he ducks and it ends up hitting Vito in the side of the face.

"Hey! Watch it!" he exclaims.

"Sorry," Hans says. "Sorry that my partner has a little bit of a bad streak."

"Has anyone told you guys yet that you almost sound exactly alike?" Claudia asks.

"No we don't," they say at the same time. Claudia shivers; they totally sound the same. It was like they were completely in surround sound.

Donna jumps down from the roof, tip in paw. "I've got it," she says, panting. "Let's go!" She and Vito run off while they can. But none of it mattered since the bakers and graduates managed to find the clue before the ferry took off once again.

***

The race for first place becomes close as the teams inside the Hotel work to eat as fast as they can. Jennifer and Sally chose to sit together, both of them thinking they can work the other team into some sort of an alliance. Nick, knowing Judy's history of eating challenges, steps up to the plate for their team. Miles agreed to eat (he couldn't eat the lunch meat, being a vegetarian so we decided to make him eat a larger bowl of cereal to make up for that; because why not?).

"Finished!" A call comes from one end of the diner. Tammy holds up her empty plate. Rachel perks up, surprised. "Come on, partner; we're in first!" It felt great calling Rachel her partner again. But she isn't sure if the cat has quite forgiven her yet.

Cal buries his face in the food, scarfing down every bite. Seeing others beginning the finish, Devon panics, stuffing his maw fast until his plate is clean. "Done," he burps. Jon pulls him to his feet and they run out together.

Ren chuckles as his partner ends up licking his plate clean, literally. "You didn't have to be that thorough," he points out, still smiling. Cal blushes and stands up, swaying slightly from the large intake.

Zander finishes his meal, squealing slightly. "Sweet! Fourth team done. Let's go, Griffin." The tiger has his head resting on the table, snoring at an average volume. "Griffin?" Zander pokes him on the shoulder. No response other than slight mumbling. "Uh-oh."

Our lead teams race out as our bottom four teams race in to catch back up. "You're going to be the one eating, right?" Syd wonders. He only asks because he isn't very hungry and doesn't feel like engorging himself.

Brent waves him off. "Of course I've got this. I didn't second place in all of those eating comps for nothing." Well, there was one time he came in third. All because of that bitch Sierra McHeimer called him a cheater and got him penalized. But she ain't here, so....

"Say, Brent's eating," June points out to Mabel. "Why don't you go over there and join him and..." Only one look from the cat's face shows that she isn't going anywhere. June sighs. "Fine. I'll do it."

Tied for last place, the drivers and bakers charge inside, breathless from running. "Tell you what..." Claudia gasps. "You guys are... good players... perhaps we can... work together... just for a bit...?"

"I can agree to that," Donna pants. "You thinking what I'm thinking?"

The cat nods. Together, Claudia and Donna shove their partners towards the eating area. "You eat!" they yell at them in unison.

"What?!" Hans asks in denial. "What makes you think I'm going to-?" Claudia unsheathes her claws and Donna raises a fist, growling.

Vito rests a paw on the smaller cat's shoulder. "It's best to leave it alone. We're not going to win this battle." He pulls him along towards the challenge. Suddenly, the fox has lost all of his appetite.

***

Tammy jitters in her seat as the olympians make their way to the first checkpoint; a local viking museum. "I can hardly believe it," the skunk says. "Two days ago we completely hated each other, now we're in first place and on our way to victory." She looks over to Rachel, who's smiling but not saying anything.

"Look, I know I was a jerk last year, but I promise that I won't cheat this time. Please, talk to me! We're a team; which means we need to be working together and cooperating."

The cat smirks. "Funny," she says. "That's the exact same lesson I tried to teach you last time."

"And I realized now, after losing you as a friend, how much I should have listened. It was the whole game that was messing with my head." Tammy rests both of her paws on the cat's shoulders. "So, what do you say? Are we friends again? Am I forgiven?"

Rachel smiles and lets her tail sway. Tammy does seem very genuine in her apology. "Yes," she says. Then quickly adds, "But if you cheat at all during this race, I'm quitting."

"Deal."

Their cab pulls up outside of the museum. Toner stands on the other side of the lawn with the carpet sitting on the ground; a full golden circle with a blue and green earth in the center, surrounded by a white plane. The girls run up and hop on the rug. "Laides," the host says, "you are the first team to arrive."

Tammy jumps for joy and hugs Rachel. "And I didn't even have to cheat this time!"

A second cab parks itself in front and a tiger and husky come running out for Toner as well. "Gentlemen, you're team number two," the host greets.

"We're not given a penalty, are we?" Jon asks.

"No, why?"

"No reason." Secretly, Jon is relieved.

Back at the Hotel, the race to not come in last intensifies. Zander has both arms looped around Griffin, dragging him outside. Though it isn't easy carrying a 500+ pound feline. Zander sets him on the ground gently and waves his paw out for a taxi. One is generous enough to stop for him, but the wolf has trouble getting him in the seat.

Meanwhile, more teams are finishing the breakfast challenge. For each one that comes outside, Zander gets more and more worried, sweating pours down his face; and it isn't just from carrying his mate. "Please wake up," he pleads. "We're going to come in last."

***

Cal & Ren run onto the carpet. "Third place," Toner announces. The bear hugs Ren tight, knocking the breath out of him.

Chris & Zack- 4th place

Barbara & Eddy- 5th place

Judy & Nick- 6th place

Angie & Jennifer- 7th place

Jasper burps loud enough to disturb most of the Hotel. "Woah!" Kitty praises. "That was some serious push."

"Thanks. I've been practicing for years." He holds up his empty plate. "Finished." Kitty finishes her dish seconds later.

June tries to lean over to talk to Brent while she eats, but he looks away as if she was the one who broke his heart. Out of the corner of her eye, she can see Jack sitting a few tables away. He looks at her with a serious look. His offer of an alliance must still stand, she thinks. No, she tells herself. I came here to get my friends back together. I don't need anyone else's help.

Although, without Brent on her side at the moment, she's looking pretty desperate...

Miles wipes his face up after he finishes. "That meal wasn't as bad as I thought," he says. "They could use some more vegetarian options though." He shrugs. "Whatever."

Sally indicates her empty plate and jogs over to reunite with her partner. "Huh, we're doing pretty good," she says. The vixens run outside to catch a ride to the museum.

"I guess," Sindy says. "But don't jinx us again."

Joey & Miles- 8th place

Kit & Kitty- 9th place

Jasper & Mitch- 10th place

Josee & Ryan- 11th place

Sally & Sindy- 12th place

Jack & Maria- 13th place

"All I'm saying is that the checkpoint could use a mini bar," Toner complains on the phone. "I mean, would it kill you to send a martini my way every now and then?" He looks to the camera and sees the viewers are watching.

"Uh... I'll call you back." He hangs up. "Oh, how about that, another team..." He blushes, hoping no one heard his conversation. Or too much of it. The humans hop onto the carpet. "Humans, your team number fourteen."

Brent does a mini guitar solo in celebration. Syd, annoyed, says, "Why are you celebrating? We're doing terrible!"

"Yes, but we beat Mabel. Maybe she'll come in last place." Just the thought of his biggest rival being eliminated the first day brings joy to his now-cold heart. Syd facepalms.

Toner chuckles continues to narrate the show. "I have no idea where Griffin & Zander are. But they might want to hurry. Only two teams are left at the Hotel: the bakers and the drivers, who are nearly done. The graduates are in a taxi, almost halfway here. One of these four teams will be the first sent home."

Hans and Vito manage to finish their meal. They lean back in their seats, almost letting the dizzying feeling sink in. That is, until their partners grip them by their ears, pulling them to their feet. "Move it, Lazy Bones!" Donna growls.

Claudia cannot help but marvel at her. She may have been through anger management classes, but the vixen sure has some delicious evil still inside of her. The same goes for the cat except she went through D.C. prison. She is absolutely on board with an alliance to the drivers. Together, they can take down every single team that stands in their way.

June twiddles with her thumbs as the taxi takes her towards the checkpoint. Mabel holds out a tube of black lipstick. "You look down," she says plainly. "Want to borrow some?"

Horrified, the wolf gently pushes the black stick out of her face. "Uh... no thanks. I have no intention of turning goth. Besides, that shade would look completely wrong on me." Right now, she can only focus on two things: winning the race and figuring out how to get Brent and her friend back together. But it's hard so far. Every time she tries to talk to him, he pretends that she doesn't exist. What else can she do to get his attention?

June looks at Mabel's make up again. A plan begins to form. Although not one she'll be proud of...

Their taxi pulls up outside of the museum. Both girls hustle to yank off their seat restraints and run across the lawn. The sound of other approaching cabs relieves them; at least they aren't in last. Once they step on the carpet, Toner gives them their ranking. "Fifteenth. You're still in the race."

"Yes!" June cheers. She then turns to Mabel. "On second thought, I do want to borrow some of your makeup. If that's okay..." For the first time in what seemed like forever, Mabel cracks a smile. Even if it is a small one.

Only one other vehicle stops outside of the museum. Emerges come the drivers and bakers. It's too bad, Toner thinks, that one of them can't go home today. Oh well. Fair's fair. Surprisingly.

Vito & Donna step on the rug one full second before Claudia & Hans. "Drivers, you're sixteenth," Toner says. "And bakers come in seventeenth."

Claudia turns to Donna, evil smirk on her muzzle. "I know that it's only the first day in the competition, but I want us to work together."

"An evil agreement?" Donna asks. "I'm so in." The girls shake paws and proceed to begin an evil laughter. Hans and Vito shiver in their shoes, suddenly very cold and very uncomfortable.

It's another whole hour before Griffin & Zander finally check in; the tiger looking very exhausted, eyes bloodshot as if he didn't get any sleep in days. Zander appears sleepy as well, but from exhaustion. He collapses on the ground as soon as they reach the carpet.

That's when Toner gives them the news they've been dreading. "Boys, I'm sorry to say, but you are the last team to arrive. You are the first team eliminated from the All-Star race." Then as if he didn't care, the dog adds, "Goodbye!"

***

"We may have had a short run, but I think we did pretty well," Zander says as they leave. "I just have to make sure that nothing ever triggers Griffin's allergies ever again."

The tiger's ears droop at the mention of what cost them the game. "I'm very sorry that happened. I should have thought twice before I looked in that tree."

Zander shrugs. "Oh well. Let's just go home where we can snuggle alone." He rests his head on the soft tiger's chest. Griffin purrs.
