I Only Smoke After Sex

So just another short story! I wanted to try something with a little bit more emotion in it and not focus entirely on the smut. This was honestly more of an experiment for me and I wasn't really planning to post this, but why the hell not? I don't plan on making my short stories filled with drama like this one, so don't worry! Might put it into scraps later honestly.

It was cold outside. Actually, it was downright frigid. The light snow falling from the gray rumbling clouds overhead didn't help much either. But hey, when you're a smoker who hadn't had a cigarette for the past four hours, you were willing to brave the freezing temperatures for a few quick puffs. My fingers were already numb and I had only been standing outside for less than a minute. I fumbled for the pack of cigarettes I kept in my jacket and carefully plucked one out and placed it in my muzzle.

"Fucking hell."

I mumbled as my numb fingers fumbled and dropped the pack onto the cement below. Shivering and uttering a string of curses, I knelt down and started to pick up the spilled cigarettes that had fallen out of the pack. After collecting them, I quickly pocketed the pack and took my cheap plastic lighter I brought with me. I flicked it a few times as sparks danced, but no flame ever ignited. I attempted to shield the lighter against the wind and gave it a few more flicks and was finally rewarded with a small flame. The end of the cigarette ignited and I took a long draw as I pocketed the lighter.

"I thought you quit."

I averted my eyes to the left and saw the German Shepherd standing there. His bright blue eyes studied me past the snow that fell between us.

"Well...old habits are hard to break." I shrugged and exhaled.

"Hm. How are you Kace?"

He asked me that question as casually as possible, like as if we hadn't seen each other for a few days.

"I'm hanging in there." I replied as I took another draw. "What about you Vince? How's life?"

The canine shrugged slightly. "The same. Just working and living."

Awkward silence. I eyed Vince out of the corner of my eye as I blew smoke. Nice pants, nice shirt, expensive winter jacket. I could tell his job was making him quite a bit of money if he could afford those clothes and casually wear them out on a day like this.

"So...how was the flight?" Vince asked as he broke the silence.

I took another puff before I answered. "It was bearable. No annoying pups or cubs on the flight so I could actually get some sleep."

"How long was the flight? About three hours?"

"Four."

"Ah. Not horrible though. Could be worse." Vince replied with a hint of a smile. "I mean, the snow could've delayed you a bit."

I nodded as I finished my cigarette and flicked it to the curb.

"Well...you ready to go then Kace? Want me to carry your luggage to my car?"

"No. I think I can manage. I only brought two bags anyways." I replied as I picked up my luggage.

"Are you sure? I know how you coyotes have to bring all kinds of shampoo and conditioners for your fur." Vince chuckled slightly.

That got a smile from me.

"Well you know me. Best looking canine in high school." I replied.

"Only beat me by one vote though." Vince said as he winked.

"And that's all I needed to win. Don't tell me you're still jealous about that."

"Of course I'm not jealous! Besides, that happened ten years ago. I can let things go."

I remained silent as I followed Vince to the parking lot. I looked at the lightly snow-covered vehicles and tried to guess which one was Vince's. He finally stopped at a sleek black luxury sedan, equipped with shiny chrome rims and leather seats.

"Wow. Nice ride." I commented as Vince popped the trunk open and took my bags from my paws.

"Thanks. It's a nice smooth ride. I only bought it last year and I'm loving it. Best part is it has heated seats."

I shivered slightly against the wind as I pulled my coat tighter around me. "That sounds pretty great right about now."

The locks clicked open and Vince opened the door for me.

"Go ahead and get in. Can't have you freezing your tail off before dinner." The canine said with a smile.

I slid into the leather seat and tucked my tail away to prevent it from getting shut in the door. The door shut and the wind outside became muffled. Vince grunted as he slid into his own seat and turned the car on. I sighed softly as warm heat blasted through the vents and warmed my fur.

"So I figured you must be starving after the flight, so do you want to go eat first, or would you rather go back to my place and then go eat?" Vince asked.

"Uh, I'm quite hungry. Let's go eat somewhere." I replied.

"No problem. Anywhere you prefer?"

"Well considering I'm not from around here and you are, no not really. As long as there's good food, I don't care." I said dryly.

"Don't worry. I have just the place in mind." Vince replied happily.

I sighed softly as the car began to move. Maybe this was a mistake.

"So tell me something new Kace. How's work? How's the family?"

I watched as the snow fly past in a blur from behind the tinted passenger window.

"Work is fine. Family is fine too." I replied as I rubbed my muzzle.

Vince paused for a minute, expecting me to say more, but I left it at that.

"Well that's good. You're still at that accounting place, right?"

"Sure am."

"You don't sound very happy about it. You thinking about finding a different job?" Vince asked as his fingers tapped the steering wheel.

I shrugged. "Maybe. Pay is pretty decent, so I don't see why I should leave."

"Well if you hate it, you should find something that you enjoy, even if the pay is less."

"Thanks professor. I'll keep that one in mind." I scoffed.

"Hey, I'm just trying to help you out here." Vince chuckled lightly.

I returned my attention to the scenery outside the window. Neon signs and bright lights rushed by as we made our way into the busy city streets.

"What about your job? How's that going?" I asked without turning my gaze from the window.

"Oh it's going great. Teaching at the university is great, and the rest of the classes are online, so really I'm working away from my place for six hours a day."

"Working from home? Fuck, I wish I could do that." I sighed.

"You're missing out. You can't beat working naked from the comfort of your couch." Vince replied as he laughed. "If you think I'm kidding about the naked part, I'm not."

"Oh I believe you." I replied with a snort.

The rest of the car ride was spent in silence until we made a left turn and pulled into a large parking lot for the restaurant Vince had in mind. It had a name that I could barely pronounce, so I was assuming it was quite fancy and expensive.

"This place has the best damn steaks and seafood you can get in this city." Vince boasted as he stepped out of the car.

I closed the car door behind me as I pulled my coat tighter against the wind that rustled my bronze fur. I followed Vince through the snow to the fancy glass doors of the business.

"After you." Vince said as he held the door open for me.

I walked inside to the restaurant and inhaled the tempting aroma of food. A husky dressed in all black greeted us at the door.

"Ah, Mr. Woltz! Back so soon?" The husky asked.

"Sure am. You know I can't stay away from this place for too long." Vince replied as he gave the husky a wide smile. "Is the usual table open? I have a very special guest with me for tonight."

I stifled a snort as the husky nodded.

"Of course. Would you like me to walk you two back?" The husky asked as he smiled at me.

"No thank you. I know where it is."

Vince beckoned me to follow as he started walking. We made our way to a private table near the back of the dining room. The table was nicely set with a red tablecloth and fine silverware. Wine glasses and candles decorated the tabletop. We both sat down in the fine leather chairs.

"What would you like to drink? Don't worry about the price, Kace. Dinner is on me tonight." Vince commented.

I gave the canine a small smile. "That's not necessary Vince."

Vince gave me a dismissed wave with his paw. "Oh shut up. You spent the money to come out here and see me. The least I can do is at least pay for one of your meals. Now choose your favorite wine and I don't want to hear one comment about the price."

I sighed as my eyes scanned the wine menu. It was no use arguing with Vince. He won every single time. My eyes stopped at the bottom of the list and I realized there was not one bottle of wine that was under fifty dollars. I felt somewhat uncomfortable choosing from such an expensive list, like as if Vince was trying to impress me by how much money he had. I was almost tempted to ask for water, but when our server arrived and asked what I would want to drink, the smile on Vince's muzzle stopped me. I ended up ordering a fifty-five dollar bottle of Riesling.

"Nice choice. Glad to see you haven't lost your good taste in wine." Vince said as his paw suddenly touched mine.

It was a subtle touch, but it was enough for me to somewhat withdraw my own paw away in response. I didn't exactly mean to react that way. It more so caught me by surprise, and I regretted it when I saw Vince's ears lower slightly.

"So...what do you recommend on the menu?" I asked, hoping to change the mood.

It worked. Vince's ears sprung back up as his tail wagged behind him.

"Well I usually get the New York Strip. They put this red wine glaze on it, and it's seriously the best tasting steak I've ever eaten! If you don't want something that big though, You can get the sirloin with mushrooms."

"What am I, a bitch? I think you're forgetting who you're talking to here." I replied with a smirk.

"I remember who I'm talking to. I also remember who won the bench-press contest in high school." Vince replied with his own smirk.

"Hey! You know you cheated! I should've won that!" I snapped back.

Vince laughed as he did his best to look innocent. "What? Me? I would never do such a thing!"

Our conversation eased into old high school memories, and continued even after we had ordered our food. I was starting to feel more relaxed and less stressed about the whole situation. I was glad Vince was able to act like as if nothing happened between us and everything was normal, but it also somewhat bothered me a little at the same time. I pushed the thoughts aside though as our meals were placed on the table. Our conversation became a little slower as we ate our meals. I'll give credit to Vince on this one though. My steak was perfectly tender and flavorful. By the time I took the last bite, I was quite full and satisfied.

"Well? Was I right, or was I right? Pretty damn good." Vince said as he finished his glass of wine.

I dabbed my muzzle with a napkin as I rolled my eyes. "Fine, fine. It was pretty great."

Vince smiled warmly at me as those green eyes stared into mine. He didn't say anything, just stared. I glanced away as I felt the awkwardness I had felt at our first interaction return.

"Kace."

I glanced up as my paws played with the tablecloth nervously.

"I think we need to talk...about things."

Fuck, I knew exactly where he was going. I looked up at his face and saw his expression had turned somewhat serious.

"What things?" I asked.

"You know what." Vince sighed. "Listen, all I ask is that you hear me out."

"Well I'm right here." I replied lowly.

Vince was silent for a few minutes. I could tell he was thinking of what to say and how exactly to say it.

"I...I know what I did was wrong-"

"Well I'm glad you came to terms with that." I interrupted.

Vince huffed softly in slight frustration. "Okay, yes. I get it. What I did was wrong back then, and I'm sorry for putting you through those hard times."

I remained silent. Vince continued.

"I understand you had every right to be angry with me. I completely get that. But it's been three years Kace. I'm not saying you don't deserve to feel a little resentment towards me still. I know that will always be in the back of your mind. What I'm trying to say is...maybe it's time to start forgiving and forgetting?"

I stared at my paws on the table in the dim light of the restaurant. I had a million responses run through my mind, but I couldn't get myself to even say one of them.

"Are we done here? Can we go back to your place?" Was all I could respond with.

Vince looked disappointed, and I knew he was disappointed, but he didn't protest or argue. He payed the bill and soon we were back in the car again on the city streets. The car ride to his apartment was completely quiet, and the regret of even coming here for the weekend slowly started to creep in again. I know Vince was trying to fix things between us, but I wasn't ready for that yet.

We arrived at his apartment, which was as fancy as the area he lived in. His two story modern apartment made my studio apartment back at home look like a college dorm when compared to his. I marveled at the hardwood floors, polished granite counters, and plush white carpet that made up the living room as I walked inside. He had nice leather furniture in the living room, along with a giant flat screen television above the electric fireplace. The stairs between the kitchen and living room led up to a spacious loft that overlooked the living room.

"That's my rec room and office up there." Vince commented as he turned on the lights. "Bedroom and guest bedroom are down the hall there. Bathroom is upstairs too."

"I assume I'll be staying in the guest room tonight?" I asked as I slid my coat off.

The look of disappointment returned.

"Yeah. Need me to carry your bags up there?" Vince asked.

"No. I got them."

I picked my luggage up and padded up the stairs. I took a quick peek at his rec room and office before I went down the hall and opened the door to my room. It was quite simple, but nice. A queen sized bed, large closet, desk, and office chair adorned the room. I set my bags down on the floor and gave the bed a sniff. It smelled like him too.

There was a quiet creak behind me. I didn't even bother to turn around as I unzipped one of my bags.

"Need anything?" Vince asked from behind me.

I shook my head. "You...have quite the bachelor pad here." I replied.

"It's pretty nice." Vince replied.

The canine was trying to hide the sadness in his voice, but he was failing. I didn't even have to guess for what was coming next.

"Kace, I want to talk about things, and I don't want you to shut me out any longer." Vince spoke softly but sternly.

I stood up and turned around to face him. I kept a stern expression.

"Look at us, Kace. What the hell happened? We used to be so close together." Vince sighed.

"It's called life. Life happened, Vince." I replied as I crossed my arms against my chest.

"Yeah, I get that. I understand life tends to change things." Vince snapped back. "Usually when you're dating though, you tend to stick with the other through thick and thin!"

I felt my own anger start to rise.

"Oh so it's all my fault now? I'm glad I spent three-hundred dollars to fly over here and get blamed for everything." I scoffed in reply.

"Are you fucking kidding me Kace? We're both to blame! Why can't you accept that?" Vince challenged back.

"Because I wasn't the one who decided to move far away!" I growled back. "Obviously what we had back home wasn't good enough for you!"

"Fuck Kace, do you even realize how selfish you sound right now? You're still pissed off at me because I wanted to take a better job that would pay more?"

I was breathing heavily now as my eyes narrowed.

"Sometimes you make sacrifices to stay with the one you love. You knew I couldn't move away! You definitely knew that!"

Vince took a deep breath in order to calm himself down. "Listen Kace, all I want to do is just apologize. I want to apologize for breaking up with you and leaving you because of a new job. I want to apologize for not checking up on you in the past three years. But what you need to understand is I'm not the only problem in this. You need to make amends too."

I sighed. I knew he was right. I hated he was right. I was too prideful though. My mind kept telling me he was the one to blame for our break-up, but deep down, I knew I was to blame.

"Just tell me what's on your mind? Something, anything at all." Vince sighed. "I'm not leaving until we figure this out."

I rubbed my paws together as I sat down on the bed. "Fine. You're right."

"You're still angry though."

"Not at you. I'm angry at myself." I mumbled.

"Why?"

"Do you really not know why?" I asked as I waved a paw at him. "I mean, look at how well you're doing! You live in a goddamn penthouse, have a nice car, expensive clothing, do I need to go on? Obviously you're doing fine without me."

Vince's ears lowered as his expression changed from frustrated to understanding.

"Kace, come on. Don't say that. You know I would want nothing more for things to be the way they were three years ago. You think that I don't wake up every day, wishing you were right beside me? I miss you, Kace. I really do."

I remained silent as I looked at the floor. Vince made his way closer to me and set his paw on my shoulder.

"I still love you Kace. I really do. Whether or not you want to believe me, it's true."

He began to say something else, but I didn't let him finish. I pulled him by the shirt and kissed him. I couldn't help it. I couldn't control myself any longer. I wanted him back. I didn't care about anything else at that moment. All of the bitterness I had felt towards Vince had disappeared. Vince yelped slightly in surprise and stumbled forward as my muzzle pressed against his. He toppled over me and I fell on my back on the bed, my muzzle still locked against his. Vince had realized what was going on and now returned the passionate kiss back.

At that moment, it finally hit me. All of a sudden, I realized the canine on top of me was the empty piece in my life. He was the reason for all of those lonely sleepless nights. He was the reason why I never seemed to smile anymore. He was the reason why I felt like an irreplaceable part of me was missing. I realized despite all the bitterness and blame I felt towards him, I really did miss him. His voice, his touch, his scent. Everything. And now that I had been able to overcome the walls I had put up around me to keep him out, I wasn't going to let him go again.

Vince slowly broke the kiss as he looked me in the eyes. "I...I guess that's one way to say you're sorry. Caught be my surprise."

I smiled for what seemed like for the first time that night. Our bodies were pressed up against each other, and as I looked into the canine's eyes, I saw the fire that was also in my own eyes. Without another word, we started to tear each others clothes off. I really can't remember exactly what happened. All I remembered was there was quite a bit of nipping and kissing as our clothes were thrown carelessly around the room. Soon we were both naked and panting hotly, both of our erect members rubbing against each other.

"Fuck, I forgot how great your body feels. Glad to see you're still hitting the gym and staying in shape." Vince panted as he rubbed his paw against my abs.

"Same for you." I replied as I fondled both of our cocks.

Vince was definitely bigger than me, which was why he was always the top. I wasn't small in size and girth by no means, but Vince had a very impressive cock. I rubbed my paw against both of our shafts as Vince pressed against me.

"Well, are you gonna let me fuck you or not?" Vince asked with a grin.

"Well get off of me and I'll get into position." I replied as I pushed against him.

Vince got up and I quickly turned around and got on all fours. I lifted my tail high and exposed my entrance to him.

"You better fuck me hard and fast. I don't want you to be a pussy about it." I growled as I looked over my shoulder.

"Fuck, you don't have to tell me twice. Glad to see you're still the power-bottom like I remembered." Vince chuckled as he tore open a condom and rolled it onto his throbbing member.

"Well hurry the fuck up then. I'd rather you go in without that." I commented.

"Easier clean-up. Plus those sheets are expensive."

I huffed as I felt his paws rest against my hips. Fuck, I needed him so badly. I pressed my ass back against his cock and felt it rub against my entrance.

"Get ready to bite down on something." Vince warned.

I shut my eyes and let out a small moan as I felt his cock start to sink inside me. My paws grabbed a hold of the sheets underneath me as I did my best to not clench around the intrusion that was slowly spreading me wide open. Fuck, I forgot how big he was!

"Fuck Kace. Loosen up!" Vince grunted as he slowly started to thrust his cock in and out of me.

"Shut up and just fuck me." I growled as I looked back at him.

Vince just smirked as he started to press more into me. I growled lowly as his cock continued to slide inside. Slight pain was mixed with pleasure but that was how I liked it.

"Too much for you?" Vince taunted as he rocked his hips.

"Is that it? Show me what you got, little puppy." I taunted right back.

"Little? I'll show you little alright."

I yelped and moaned as he pulled out completely and slammed his cock back inside me. My own cock throbbed between my legs as Vince started fucking me properly. I felt his slick member slide in and out of me, his enormous balls slapping against my ass with every thrust. I couldn't help but moan and pant as he fucked me. His paws held me steady with each thrust. I had adjusted to his length now, and waves of intense pleasure flowed through my body with each thrust he gave.

"Fuck, I missed this so much." Vince panted behind me.

I grunted as his arm wrapped around my chest and pulled me up to a kneeling position. I blushed as his muzzle nipped the back of my shoulder, his breath hot against my neck. He continued to thrust in and out of me, and I could start to feel his knot start to bump against my entrance.

"Don't...fucking...tie me." I panted as my own cock bounced with each thrust from the canine behind me.

"What? The first time we have sex in three years and you won't let me tie you?" Vince argued as his paws gripped my waist tighter. "Don't be a bitch."

"Some of us-ah!-want to go to bed at a decent time!"

Vince didn't respond as his thrusts became shorter and deeper. Loud slaps filled the room as he fucked me fast and hard. I moaned and growled loudly as I felt his cock start to throb inside of me. I knew he was close and I clenched around his shaft, wanting nothing more to feel him release inside me.

"F-fuck, I'm about to lose it!" Vince growled into my shoulder.

I suddenly felt him press forward hard as his knot pushed hard against my entrance.

"H-hey! Wait! I-I said not to-"

I didn't get to finish as his knot suddenly popped into me. I let out a bark at the sudden and painful intrusion as Vince tied me. A second later, Vince growled lowly as his member pulsed inside me and spurted his warmth into the condom. I felt the condom balloon up inside me and felt the warmness. Vince reached around and started sliding my cock through his own paw as he rode the last waves of his orgasm. The feeling of the canine's engorged knot grinding around inside me sent me over the edge, and soon I was thrusting my hips as my own seed flew through the air in thick ropes. I clenched around Vince's knot and felt it tug inside me, causing me to tremble with pleasure. I fell forward on all fours again, panting hotly as my orgasm diminished.

"Did...did you seriously tie me?" I finally asked when I caught my breath.

Vince looked at me sheepishly as he rubbed his head. "Ah...yeah. Sorry man. I couldn't control myself."

"Well looks like I'm going to bed like this then." I sighed.

"Well you deserved it since you came all over the sheets anyways." Vince chuckled as he helped me position myself on my side.

I chuckled as I felt the canine spoon against me. "Fine, fine. We're even then."

Vince's paws ran through my brown fur as he kissed my neck.

"So Kace...are we back together?" He asked cautiously as his nails tickled my fur.

I sighed softly. "I want you back Vince. I really do."

"So do I." Vince replied. "I just want to make sure you felt the same way after...well...you know. This."

I chuckled softly. "Trust me, I don't want you back just because of the sex. I want you back because I love you again."

I felt Vince's body relax. "Well I love you too Kace."

My eyes fell upon my coat that had been thrown on the upper corner of the bed. I reached into the pocket and took out my box of cigarettes and lighter.

"Are you serious Kace? How the fuck do you like those?" Vince groaned as I flicked the lighter and ignited the cigarette hanging out of my muzzle. "If we're going to be together again, you're going to have to break that habit."

"Already making the rules?" I asked as I took a puff. "Fine, I'll only smoke after sex then."

"Well you'll be smoking more then you do now if that's what you decide." Vince chuckled as he waved the smoke away.

I smiled as I exhaled.

After a few more minutes, Vince was soft enough to pull out of me. He slid the condom off and tied it off before throwing it in the trashcan near the desk. I was exhausted now and wanted nothing more for us to go to sleep. Vince agreed and led me into his own bedroom.

"We could've just slept in there, but I'm sure you'd rather sleep in a bed that didn't smell like sex." Vince laughed as he pulled the sheets aside and slid into bed.

"I prefer this anyways. It smells like you." I replied as I slid into the sheets next to him.

I felt Vince's muscular body press against my back as he spooned against me. I yawned softly and closed my eyes.

"Hey Kace?" Vince whispered softly into my neck.

"Hm?"

"I'm really glad you chose to have me back."

I smiled as I drifted off to sleep.
