The Beta-Testers Chapter 11: Fleeing East By Draconicon

It took everything that Sarah had not to set the plains on fire, and just a little more to keep herself from screaming. That little bit more just wasn't there.

As the echoes of her roar faded away, the lioness went back to stomping ahead of the bunch of players behind her, grumbling under her breath with her shoulders hunched up so far that they felt like they were brushing her ears.

I would get all the whiners, wouldn't I? she thought as she stomped ahead. At least that last shout got them to shut the hell up. They hadn't figured out how to do that all night, when they were trudging along after her. Not even the guildmasters, who had turned out to be just as whiny as the players that they represented. She wasn't sure how much longer she could take dealing with them if they were going to be acting like...

She forced herself to take a deep breath, feeling her chest expand against the inside of her armor for a moment before she let it all out again. The angrier she got, the less effective she'd be. She had to remember that.

Letting some of the players walk by, she stopped and took a moment to survey the situation.

The sun was just rising over a vast plain ahead of them, the grasses sweeping back and forth at ankle height. The hills that they'd walked through overnight seemed to be completely behind them, though she wasn't sure how far behind them. More than a kilometer, at least, which would put them out of reach of any of the dangers that Hank told her about last night. Not great, but better than the alternative.

Ahead...well, she wasn't sure just what was ahead.

Come on. You've obviously loaded; why don't you fucking show up on the game map? She pulled up the menu again, looking at the map. Everything from Dalia westwards was swallowed up by blackness, while her little icon still sat in the white clouds of emptiness past the edge of the map. She shook it a few times, but it didn't change. With a sigh, she closed out of it.

"You know, I thought we'd find something by now."

"JESUS!"

Sarah's hand was halfway incinerated by the time she spotted the source of the voice, and she had to force herself to calm it down again, the lioness shaking her head. The otter behind her had appeared out of nowhere...as he always did.

"David, why do you do that? Seriously, I almost burnt you to a crisp."

"Heh, you'd have had to see me first."

"Fuck...Fucking hell..."

Holding a hand over her chest, the lioness shook her head again. The rogue was one of the few solid players in the group, and one she could rely on. Admittedly, he wasn't so much a rogue anymore as a rake, but it was better than some of the transformations people had gone through since opening the portals.

Ignoring the impulse to burn off that feathered cap of his, she gestured ahead.

"You want to go scouting out there, be my guest. I have no idea what's coming up."

"Uh, you really think that's a good idea?"

"Is anything a fucking good idea at this point?"

"Uh...yeah, that's a good point."

"So?"

"I'll be back in a bit."

He flickered almost out of existence as he stealthed and walked off, and Sarah let out a long, deep hiss of a sigh.

Why me? Why the hell does it have to be me keeping all these people together? It wasn't like that had been her intention when she'd started playing the game. All she wanted to do was have fun, hit things, and show people that girls could game as hard as the guys could. After all, it wasn't like some of the other players were gonna accomplish that.

Then again, she already knew the answer. Because nobody else was going to.

Fucking admins, and fucking guildmasters, and fucking sheeps of players! LITERALLY! she almost shouted as a sheep walked by, desperately clutching a guitar to his chest as he did. Sarah realized that she was glaring, and tried to pull it back. She really, really tried.

When everyone had gone past, she took up a post behind the line of players, following as a rearguard. After all, if there were going to be problems, she expected that they'd come from behind, rather than -

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....."

"Check the fucking ground! I told you, I told you a hundred times, check the ground!"

"Sorry, Sarah!"

"Christ..."

It took them two hours to catch up with David, and by the time they did, there wasn't much point in hearing the report from him...at least, not about the biggest things up ahead. After all, it was pretty damn hard to miss a mountain range that just loaded in right in front of you.

Admittedly, it wasn't right in front of them, but even though it looked about half a day's travel away, it was huge. It ran all the way north, and all the way south, cutting off any view of anything else. If they were going to keep going forward, then they would have to either go over the mountains, or - if this fantasy land held true to tropes - go under it.

Personally, she preferred under. At least there, she'd have a chance of keeping track of where things were, and if she fell, she'd already be close to the ground.

The other players, however...

"You know, I thought I would have left this kind of crap with the tabletop players."

"What do you mean?"

"You ever played D&D, David?"

"Nooooot really."

"Trust me, this isn't that different."

She walked into her improvised tent, leaving talk of improvised hot air balloons, improvised catapults, improvised tunnelers, and improvised improvisations behind. There were twice as many ideas as there were players, and she knew that they'd be hours deciding what they wanted to do in order to get past the mountains.

It was a fair enough distraction for them that she didn't want to interrupt. After all, she'd have to be the one to decide how they did it in the end, and more to the point, what they did afterwards.

The otter stood behind her as she rolled out her map on the ground. It wasn't much, but she was able to start scrawling on the clouds on the map, extending the information through hand-gathered knowledge, and David's own scouting reports.

From what she could gather, the other groups of players were scattered out at different parts of the mountain. She'd need to send some runners out, put down some markers a kilometer or two out so that none of the other groups got too close to trigger that event Hank mentioned, but that could wait. They'd been traveling all day, so they had some time to rest.

Her bigger worry was just how stable the game would continue to be. Just glancing back out of the tent, she could see that the mountain flickered every so often, dropping out of existence and then back in again. If it was like the rest of the world, falling through the mountain would be like falling through the map and cause an instant respawn. If it wasn't...

Well, she didn't envy anyone that fell through it and died from being crushed to death.

"So...how far into the mountains did you go?"

"Far enough, I guess. Nothing saw me, but, uh..."

"Spit it out."

"I'd say there's probably about 400 imps, 200 goblins, and at least twelve bands of roving orcs wandering around the bottom part of the mountain. I think I saw some dragons flying around up above it, too."

"Geez...that's not what I wanted to hear."

If there were that many...well, the players could probably get through that kind of blockade, if the imps were still the usual 'rat-hunting' level of enemies. The goblins probably weren't that much a threat, particularly to her, but the orcs could be a small problem.

The damn thing was, she didn't know how the enemies scaled out here. If this was an earlier version of the game - which Mr. Lee thought it had been - then there were things out here that hadn't been balanced to the rest of the playable game. Which meant that they had a pretty decent chance of being underleveled for what was out there, particularly considering how far from the starting part of the game they'd come.

She ran her finger up and down the mountain range on the map, thinking to herself. There was no way that they'd be able to improvise any air travel, that much was sure. That meant that they'd need to either climb the mountain...well, there was no way that they were climbing it without it flickering out in mid-climb, so that left going under it.

"Did you see any tunnels heading into the mountain?"

"A few. Three of them within our little bubble."

"How far apart?"

"Pretty much equal, really."

"Lazy programmers."

That worked in their favor, though. She had him show her where they were on the map, and then dismissed him to get some rest. Sarah sat down, letting out a long, deep sigh as she looked up at the top of the tent.

What she wouldn't give to hand this back to Ronald. At least he liked being in charge, as far as she could tell. She was barely hanging on by the skin of her teeth, and she still thought she would hand it off as soon as someone competent asked for it.

...Okay, maybe someone good, rather than competent. There was no way she was handing it off to Mr. Grant.

Until then, though...

Really hope Hank is treating Ronald's body well. He better not be letting it just sit out in the open or something...

Pushing the worry out of her head, the lioness laid down by her map. She pulled her arms and legs up against her chest, and slowly closed her eyes. A little nap. A little nap was something she could afford, after walking around all day. Just...a little...

#

"AHHHHHHHH!"

"Damnit..."

Sarah groaned as she pulled herself up from the ground, growling. If someone had fallen through the map again because of not checking the ground in front of them, so help her, she would -

"Oh, hi there!"

The lioness blinked at the familiar voice...and the unfortunately familiar cock in front of her muzzle. She slowly looked further up, past purple belly fur and small breasts, towards the black, bat-winged feline that floated near the top of her tent.

"Oh geez, you again?"

"Yep!"

"What the fuck is that?!"

Still grumbling, Sarah leaned her head around the floating creature's crotch and glared at the players just outside the tent.

"I know this...thing. Just calm down. It's not going to be a problem."

"But what -"

"Get back to business. Has anyone staked out the north and south sides? A kilometer out?"

"No, but -"

"Then get to it. NOW!"

The two males - a fox and a mouse - shot off out of sight, leaving the lioness alone with the...creature again. A demon, she remembered thinking of it last time, and it still seemed to fit, with those tiny wings and that spade-shaped tail. Walking around until she wasn't standing face-to-crotch with the floating thing, she looked up to meet its gaze.

"Why are you here? I thought you were exploring the game."

"Oh, I was, but there were more interesting things to find out here. I keep having to remind myself that it's a game, though."

"Not that hard out here."

"It is when you imagine it as the only thing you've ever seen."

"I...guess that's the case."

"Oh, it is. Heh. So...why are you camped out here? I didn't think anyone would be coming here."

"Because the city's gone."

"Oh, I know it is, but why here?"

"Why shouldn't we?"

"Mostly because of the monsters."

"We can deal with monsters."

"Hmmm, you can. I remember that. At least...I think I do?"

The more the creature talked, the more Sarah felt a bit concerned for herself. She remembered the demon being more...confident, back at the temple. It was new to the world, yes, but it didn't care about what was going on, didn't really feel worried or unsure about anything. All it did was play around.

Now, it seemed like it had curiosity, like it was trying to figure things out. And seeing it confused...

"Do you remember something?"

"Well, I was thinking about something. It might have been real, or might have been a fantasy."

"What was it?"

"It was either you swimming through jello or you being held down by a few dozen ink-things while getting fucked by a dragon. One or the other. I can't remember now."

"...Well, aside from a dare back in college, I've never been swimming in jello, and I don't think you would have seen that."

"Ah! Then it must have been the dragon and ink things. Don't worry. You'll live through it, if it happens."

"How do you know?"

"Oh, it all adds up. I think. At least, it did when I was thinking about it. Based on all the stuff going on..."

"Okay, stop, stop."

Sarah held up her hands, taking a moment to collect her own thoughts. This was...really getting out of hand. Pinching her nose, she tried to think of a better way to ask this thing questions. Well, for that matter...

"What are you?"

"Oh, a demon."

"That's what you look like. What in the world are you, though? I mean...you're not an NPC, not a regular one, anyway. And it's like you know about stuff that's going to happen. That's not one of the player classes that I've seen."

"Hmmm. You know, that's a good question. Let me see if I can come up with a good answer."

The feline floated about for a few minutes, moving around the tent with her hand on her chin. Sarah had to force herself to be quiet, though her fingers smoldered with bits of fire that kept trying to get free, particularly as the demon kept seeming to switch between its shemale state from earlier and an entirely feminine form. It was rather disorienting to watch.

Eventually, it just dropped to the ground, shrugging.

"Nope, can't think of a good way to put it."

"...Try. Try really hard."

"Why?"

"Because I'm this close to just burning you to pieces and then finding you wherever you respawn."

"Why would you do that? I'm just telling you the -"

"Because I'm fucking freaking out here! You can't just come barging in and tell me that I'm gonna get raped by a dragon and then not tell me how you know that, so spill!"

"...You know, that does make a lot more sense, now that I think about it."

"You think?!"

"Yes, I do. It's kind of the thing I do most often."

"AAAAAAAAAGH!"

Later, she would wonder what it looked like when she completely lost her temper. To the other players, all talking to each other outside the tent, it probably looked pretty spectacular. To Sarah, on the other hand, it was simply an inferno that started behind her eyes and proceeded to consume the world.

The tent went up in less than a second, and the fire spread outwards at a rapid rate, running past her ability to control it and just feeding itself. She felt the heat rising in her as well, but for the moment she was too angry to care. She charged forward, thinking she'd find the corpse of the fucking demon and pound it into a pulp...but she didn't.

Instead, she bowled right over the smaller feline, knocking the demon and herself over and spinning around, head over heels, until they came to a final stop with her on her back and the demon on her chest.

There was no fire damage, at all. Sure, the little horns on the demon's head, poking through the fur, were on fire now, and so was the spaded tail tip, but the rest of her...nothing.

"What...the hell...are you?"

"I told you, I'm a demon. And I'm thinking."

"Come oooooon! This isn't fair!"

"What isn't?"

"You know something, you fuck!"

"I know a lot of things. So do you. So does - oh, that's interesting."

With a grunt, Sarah threw the feline off of her, a fireball already spinning in her fist as she whipped around at the demon again. It flew from her fingers, sending another burst of fire through the already too-hot air, only to explode a little off to the side of the demon. The feline went flying through the air, spinning in cartwheels through the air, and Sarah leaped after her, the lioness growling like a feral.

With a lunging grab, she managed to get a grip around the demon's neck, and as they fell, she pinned the demon beneath her. It made the ground crunch from the hit, and she squeezed. She squeezed hard.

"What? ARE? YOU!?"

"Mmm. Squeeze harder."

"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

Slam! Slam! Slam! She beat the demon's head against the ground again and again, squeezing that throat until she was sure that the creature's head would pop right off of its neck, but it never happened.

And somewhere, somewhere between squeezing and shouting, somewhere into the three minutes it took to realize what she was doing, Sarah started grinding on the smaller feline.

Oh...fuck...me...

All the fire magic was catching up to her, and she could feel her body just aching with need. She growled, her legs quivering as she tried to stop herself, but it was too late. She was completely on auto-pilot, fucking her armored crotch against the demoness beneath her, and a whimper rose in her throat.

She looked around, desperately, but the fire seemed to have cleared everyone off. There was a group well in the distance, almost at the limits of their camp going south, but they were little more than blurs. Too far for her to see, and too far for them to see her.

She looked down again -

"Oh, hey. You know, I forgot to tell you something."

"You better...mmph...tell me something...something good, or...-"

"You know how there are monsters here?"

"You told me that already!"

"Oh? Did I tell you that they come out every few hours? And that the next one is coming up in less than a minute?"

"What?!"

"Oh, so I didn't. Good. I forget sometimes."

"I'll wring your neck until you pop, so help me!"

"Oh good, I thought you were getting too gentle."

If she'd been capable of any thought at that point, rather than blind rage, Sarah might have thought about what she was doing. Instead, she pulled her hands back and let loose her highest level spell right on the demon. A pillar of fire shot down from the heavens, and met one coming out from the ground, burning with the heat of both realms at once. It should have incinerated everything, and even given Mr. Lee a fair scalding.

But no. The demoness was still there. Unharmed. Or...

No. Not unharmed. Just...instantly respawned.

"Oooh, so that's how that feels! Now I know."

Sarah didn't even hear her. The lioness had rolled over, panting and gasping as the heat of all that magic hit her like a freight train. She arched her back off of the ground, humping the air with her hips as she cried and whimpered, her armor so filled with her own juices that it would have rusted instantly if it was anywhere near real.

As she mindlessly humped in the depth of her heat, she vaguely heard the demoness standing up next to her.

"Oh, dear. You know that dragon rape I mentioned?"

"Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck y-"

"No, no, it's just...I think these monsters are going to want to go first."

"NNNNNGGAAAAAAAAH!"

Sarah screamed, trying to think of her spells, of anything but the heat between her legs, but it was impossible. Even when short legs of some sort of lizard creature came into view, she couldn't think of anything but the hope that they might have a cock or some juicy cunt to grind against.

And then, darkness.

When she woke up again, she was dangling from a set of chains, and her armor was completely gone. She wore nothing but a loincloth, and it was soaked with her juices, juices that were still running down her leg. The lioness panted, her hips having been grinding back against the rock wall in her sleep, and even as she woke up, she couldn't entirely stop it.

Whimpering in a way that she hated, Sarah slowly opened her eyes. It didn't take long to take in the entirety of the room. It couldn't have been bigger than ten feet by ten feet, with the wall she was on taking up most of it with different 'prisoners.' Though, in all honesty, she seemed to be the only one with a complaint about being there. The others were moaning, begging for 'master' to come back, cocks and pussies on display as two foxes and two lions panted and moaned.

"What...what the...hell?"

"Master! Please, come back, I need you inside me!"

"No, no, I need him first! My cock hurts, so hard..."

"No, me! I'll let him fuck my ass! I need his cock, his cum! Please!"

Sarah shuddered. It sounded like they'd been completely broken, and she wasn't sure if they were NPCs or players, at this point. They just sounded like broken sluts. Convincing ones, too; if she stuck around, she might end up like them, particularly with -

A sudden hiss cut past her lips as her heat surged higher again, her body burning up with the need for cock, or fingers, or something inside of her. She'd pushed her magic so far earlier that it had gotten to a level that she'd never felt before, a need for sex that felt like it would go for hours, if not days, or weeks, if she didn't get the right satiation.

Oh, this is noooooot good, she thought as she panted. What the hell...even is this?

Footsteps. Slowly, footsteps caught her attention, coming from a hole in the wall on the far side. She bit her lip, trying not to pant, and feeling proud she'd managed to stop thrusting her hips around. It wasn't much, but it was something.

Finally, the source of the footsteps came into view. A squat thing, covered in scales. It looked almost like some sort of lizard anthro, but it was half the size, barely coming a bit higher than Sarah's waist, and certainly looking more like a dragon than a lizard.

"A kobold?!"

"Hsss-hsss, the new one recognizes. Hee hee, yes, new one recognizes."

"How in the hell - mmph - did a...a fucking kobold...catch me?"

"Many are the kin of dragons. Many wander the tunnels."

"Fucking, fuck, fuck, FUCK!"

"Yes, much fucking. Much fucking for you. Hsss-hsss-hsss."

The fact that he was laughing at her only stirred her up more, and she debated whether she dared use any of her magic to try and take him down. She was already so deep in heat that she would take forever to get out of it. In for a penny, in for a -

He moved while she was debating, and slammed a scaly finger right up her pussy. Her eyes went wide as it went deep, a gasping moan torn from her lips as she arched her back.

"Mmph!"

"Heeheehee, the new one, so sensitive, even without the potions! Oh, yes, good girl, very good girl."

"Kill...you...to...death..."

"Oh, not into that. Into lots more, though. Like this."

He reached beside her, and Sarah gasped as a chain she hadn't seen suddenly pulled up beneath her neck. It lifted her right off her feet, leaving her unable to touch the ground. As the metal dug into her neck, the kobold rammed a second finger inside of her, wriggling it deeper and deeper, the two of them scissoring back and forth.

Little lights flared in her eyes, followed by black spots as her air started to slip away. She coughed and gasped, trying not to moan, but those fingers...that scaly palm grinding against her clit...so sensitive...so hot...

He let go of the chain before she could pass out, and she gasped for breath as he pulled his fingers back. He sniffed them, and giggled.

"Oooh, heat. Can get you filled with eggs, yes, so full of dragonkin egg and cum."

"Oh, don't you...fucking...dare..."

"Must call the others, yes, yes, the others."

The kobold ran out of the room, leaving her hanging from her chains and still dripping with her need. She whimpered, her toes curling as she fought the urge to call him back and finish the fucking job.

She managed that much, at least.

Slumping back, she fought to catch her breath, to think of something other than sex. It couldn't be that hard. Heat couldn't be...that bad...

Oh who am I kidding, yes it is...

But at least she was away from -

"Oh, hey again. So, you're here, too?"

No. No, no, no, her luck couldn't be that bad. It just couldn't. But as Sarah slowly looked up, she saw the demon cat, floating by the ceiling, just out of sight to anyone that didn't look directly up at her. She whimpered, almost crying.

"What do you want?"

"Oh, not much. Just seeing if you need some help."

"Help? Since when do you help?"

"Oh, I've been helping all the time. In my own way."

"How? I've only seen you since the portals opened."

"Of course. That's when I woke up."

"What do you mean, when you woke up?"

"Well, I guess better to say, when I realized something was wrong. When I needed to...fix myself."

Sarah shook her head. It didn't make any sense to her, and it didn't matter. She needed help, and this thing...

Calm down...if you keep getting riled up...

Maybe it was just forcing herself to calm down, maybe it was a will save, but she managed to keep from hyperventilating and screaming. She had to treat this like she treated all the other stuff. Just...do it right.

"How can you help me?"

"Oh, I've already told the others where to find you. And I found some dragons to help!"

"I really, really hope you mean player dragons."

"...Sure, let's go with that."

Please, please be joking...
