#1 of Amazing Race All Stars

Again, I'm not going to stop writing this series, I love it too much. If you like it, great keep reading. If not... bye. :3

Toner lies on the massage table, ears drooping and sighing softly, even when his favorite masseuse, a thin purple coyote named Quentin, rubs his shoulders softly. "You know what I miss most about her?" Toner asks him, referring to his recent breakup with his girlfriend. Ex-girlfriend, now. "What?" Quentin says. "I mostly miss her company. Whenever I would go out to do my job, she would always contact me on Skype; it always helped me with my sanity. But lately she was complaining that I was always gone on 'vacation' for a month every year and I didn't get to bring her along with me." "Wait, aren't those months when you go out to host the Amazing Race?" Quentin stop rubbing the dog's shoulders and Toner sits up, wrapping his tail around himself. The red dog nods. "Yeah," he answers. "Don't get me wrong, I love my job, but it gets very lonely sometimes. Even though I'm with, like, 36 other people. But none of them I can connect with." "Why don't you just take her with you next season?" "Because my boss won't allow me to do that." Mr. Milton was never known for being very polite. He's pretty rough, especially on canines like himself even though all three races have been a commercial success. "Besides, I haven't even heard about plans for the fourth season. Or even if there will be a fourth season." A buzzing sound coming from a nearby table fills the candlelit room. Toner picks up his phone and glances at the caller ID. "Hey, Mr. Milton," he chuckles nervously. His boss intimidates him. "I'm assuming you're calling about whether or not the race has been renewed... uh-huh... I see... really?!" Toner perks up. "You don't ever normally like my plans for a season!" This was a cause for celebration. Milton is very hard to impress. One glimpse over at Quentin and the host starts to shift some gears. "Sure, sure, I can do it," Toner says. "But, is it ok if I bring someone along with me this year?" Milton mumbles something from the other end that Quentin can hardly understand. "Awesome! I won't let you down, sir!" He hangs up the phone. "Pack your bags, dude. We're going on a trip!" He throws on his infamous sunglasses. *** "Welcome to the Amazing Race: All-Stars," Toner introduces. "It's been almost three years since the very first race began. Over the years, over 108 racers have signed up for the show and have traveled all over the globe in hopes of winning the million dollar prize. This season, we're bringing back 18 teams that you love... and love to hate for the most BRUTAL battle in Amazing Race history. "And our story begins here: Garfield Park in Pasadena, California. We'll waste no more time on you so, let's bring back some of our All-Star teams." Traveling via bus into the park come the teams from last year's race. Please welcome back Chris (grey wolf) & Zack (orange fox)- Marine furs who recently started dating. "Last year we got into some pretty big arguments," Chris explains. "But now that I've revealed how I truly feel, I think we can focus more on winning this time." Zack nods in agreement, his tail thrashing about. "I'm so excited that Chris is giving me another chance!" he squeals. "Except this time, we're going in with more love between us." He leans over and smooches his partner on the cheek. Donna (orange vixen) & Vito (orange fox)- New York cab drivers and last year's villains. "After we lost last time, Vito made me sign up for some serious anger management classes," Donna confesses. "This time, we'll make it to the top with a better attitude... hopefully." "I'm seriously proud of her," Vito says. "Without her techniques, I don't think she would even be here in the first place." "The trick is to count to 15 and close your eyes. Watch." She leans back in her seat, takes a deep breath and starts counting in her head. "See? It can even work on the most explosive of people. Like those two behind me." Josee (orange tigress) & Ryan (black wolf)- the on-again/off-again daters. "The arguing didn't really help us last year," Josee says. "But don't worry; this time I'm focused more on the prize money than I am fighting with my boyfriend. Even if it is tempting." She purrs softly. Ryan rolls his eyes. "I only came back because I felt like we were cheated out of the money. I mean, how were we supposed to know that the words were written above our heads? We should've won." He crosses his arms and grunts. "Aww, baby, don't get so tense." Josee kisses him. Judy (grey rabbit) & Nick (red fox)- ZPD Officers and last year's winners. "Even after a year, I'm still in disbelief that we actually won!" Judy says. "Which is why we need to win again to prove that we are winners," Nick teases. "Plus, it can give us a chance to make history by being the first team to win the game twice. That topped with the fame from being the first of our species to be officers? Imagine how great that would be!" Judy giggles. "Nick is mostly back to be on camera. I'm here because... well... we're partners; race-wise, and real life-wise. So why not?" Sally & Sindy (beige vixens)- very, very giddy telephone operators. "I have no idea how we got back for a second chance," Sindy says. "It was a miracle we didn't get eliminated first last time. But last time we came in 11th. How are we still here?" "I heard it was because the emperors were offered another chance but they declined it," Sally says. "Instead, they told the producers to put us in this season instead. It was awfully nice of them." Her fluffy tail sways underneath her. She pulls her friend close to her side. "Besides, when do we ever get to do this back at the office?" Sindy groans. "Never," she admits. Cal (brown bear) & Ren (black fox)- formerly engaged; now currently married. "Last year I was a little rough on the marines and it... may have cost us the race," Ren says, sweat glistening on his forehead. He clears his throat. "But, with a second chance, I know we're going to win this time." Cal shrugs. "I mostly came back because I loved the eating challenges. Speaking of which..." His oversized stomach growls loud enough for those even in the front to hear. "... does anyone have a snack on them?" In a bright blue right behind them, are returning racers from the world-wide adventure that was season two. The front seat is held by none other than Rachel (green cat) & Tammy (red skunk)- gold medal-winning Olympians. "Rachel is still pretty mad at me after what happened in the finale," Tammy says. "But now that that is all over, I think we can finally start working on fixing our friendship this year. Right?" Rachel shuns her and says nothing. Their friendship went waaaaaaaaaay down after Tammy had a huge blowup. The cat told her to never talk to her again. So when the producers wanted her to come back for another season, Rachel was reluctant, but she eventually agreed. For reasons she doesn't want to discuss at the moment. Also back is Kit & Kitty (white shepherds)- twin sisters with new looks. Last time, Kit dyed the fur around her left eye black, while Kitty did so with her right eye. This time, Kit had a purple star painted around her eye and Kitty did the same with her right eye. "It's very exciting to be back again," Kit says. "After we were eliminated, I thought that it was all over." "At least the guys shared some of the money with us," Kitty points out. "Plus, I loved racing with my sis last year. Hopefully this time we don't get tangled up in a conflict. That is what cost us the game last time." Their allies from last year sit behind them. Jasper & Mitch (white hound dogs)- fraternity brothers from Miami. "Dude! We get to do this thing again!" Jasper says. "Think, we could be the first ones to win this game twice." Mitch nods eagerly. "And the best news: we don't have to deal with those publishers this year." Last time they played this game, they got in trouble with one of the teams a short while before they were eliminated. But that team is not going to be on this race, so it'll be like a fresh start for the boys. "Hm, I wonder what they're doing right now." "Probably being super jealous that we're here, far away from them." They fist bump, just like old times. Joey (red fox) & Miles (red vixen)- still-active vegetarians. "We came back for another chance to win the money," Joey explains. "Last time, we put too much faith in other teams which is why we were sent home. This year, we're going to be extra careful and not make the same mistake." Miles nods along with him. "But we don't want to be too aggressive. Our strategy of lying low worked for the most part which is why we made it to the Final Six. I agree with Joey, though; we shouldn't be associating with the others unless we had no other choice." Griffin (orange tiger) & Zander (grey wolf)- Co-workers who are secretly dating. "After we lost last time," Griffin says, "I mostly spend that time eating away my feelings. Before I knew it, I was almost 500 pounds; the heaviest I've ever been." The tiger pats his larger stomach proudly. "I just hope that we can keep up this time," Zander says, ears slightly flat. "The reason we lost last year is because we aren't the fastest runners." "Sorry! But I've been taking my daily runs like the doctor says. My legs are more muscled than they ever have been. Go ahead, feel them." Zander pats on the tiger's leg, mostly feeling a bit of jello. Barbara & Eddy (grey wolves)- notorious restaurant critics. "Losing last year was very shameful," Barbara says. "But after we got eliminated, I was very glad to no longer have to deal with the stress of the competition. Now that we're back, you can expect some arguments in the future." Eddy widens his eyes and slams his palm on his forehead. "Oh dear. I have a feeling that this is already going to have a rough start. And we haven't even arrived at the startling line yet!" Eddy is still slightly afraid of Barbara's criticisms. Coming to the starting point on foot are those from the very first race. Please welcome the return of Angie (pink vixen) & Jennifer (brown collie)- sorority sisters with a lot of heat. Tsssssss. "Not only are we back," Angie says, "we're back with a vengeance." "We were very close to winning," Jennifer says, "and we would have won too if it wasn't for the bakers getting in our way." The collie thinks back to how that cat shoved the two out of the way in Orlando. "This time, no more playing nice. We're going to win and there's nobody out there who is going to stop us." "Girl, stop sounding like some sort of villain. We're just here to win and redeem ourselves. Not make ourselves look like fools on national television." Brent & Syd- the only pair of humans to ever compete on the show. Brent's brown hair is slicked back and has grown out. Syd, however, cut his blonde hair quite short this year. "We lost focus at the Final Two last time," Brent says. "This year, all of that is going to change. I want that money and nothing is going to stop us." His new leather jacket stays unzipped in the slight heat. He flips on a new pair of sunglasses, completing the total bad boy look. Syd sighs for his best friend. "Everything was going okay," he says, "until him and Mabel broke up a year ago. After that, Brent has been on this bad boy phase; it's scary. I came back on the race to hopefully change him back." Claudia & Hans (black cats)- the bakers. "Toner finally let me out of jail on parole," Claudia says, sharpening her claws. "Do you know what prison is like in Washington D.C.? It's very, very... VERY brutal." She shivers just thinking about it. "Hopefully I never have to deal with that again." "It's nice to reunite with Claudia," Hans says, his tail thrashing about. "After two-and-a-half years of her absence, it's nice to hear her loud and scary voice next to me again." "What did you say?" Claudia growls, showing off her claws. Hans shrinks back a little. Jon (blue fox/husky) & Devon (orange tiger)- prostitutes who act like they have any dignity. Seriously, people; they only thing they wear are those tight jean shorts! "We're back because we were unfairly eliminated last time," Jon says. "I mean, a penalty? For what, having my partner help me out? Ten minutes was way too long." As you can see, the fusky has some pretty strong views of the show after he lost. "Hopefully this time we can get through without having to deal with Toner or his annoying ways," Devon snarks. The only reason they came back is because they wanted to show how unfair this show can get. Waste of time, we know. Jack (orange bear) & Maria (orange hound dog)- typical movie nerds who refer to themselves as "experts". "The Amazing Race is a lot like Fast & Furious," Maria notes. "Fast, full of action, and the endings are sometimes satisfying." "Our time on the show last year felt a little... short," Jack says. "Right after we formed an alliance, we were immediately eliminated the next day. I doubt that will happen again, but we're not taking any chances. After all, me and Maria have been together for the better half of seven years; mostly alone." And our final All-Star team; June (yellow wolf) & Mabel (black tigercat)- Early Graduates and geniuses. "Mabel took her breakup with Brent pretty hard," June confesses. "Even though they both said it was mutual, Brent turned into a bitch and Mabel dyed her fur black!" The wolf scoffs. "And all she wears now is black. It's like she's another person." Mabel blows a look strand of black hair from in front of her face. Her eyes stare blankly ahead of them. She simply shrugs and says, "Whatever." "See what I mean?" June asks, a worried look on her face. She came back to the show hoping to get Brent and Mabel back together. But doing that was not going to be easy. Once all 18 teams arrive at the park, Toner stands atop a hill and clears his throat. "Welcome back, contestants!" he greets. "Pasadena is the first part in your new 22-leg race around the planet. As you all know, each leg ends with a checkpoint with the last team to arrive in serious danger of being cut from the race. At the end, the first team to reach the last checkpoint will win; One. Million. Dollars." The 36 All-Stars (with the exception of Brent and Mabel) cheer and shout for their second chance at winning the money. Toner continues. "Now, before I set you all off for the first clue box, I've decided to add a few twists into the game. For starters, the first team to arrive at the first checkpoint in the race will win two Express Passes. That team will get to give the second one to another team. Passes are used to skip one task from this point up until the end of Leg 8. After that, they expire. "Second, I'm adding a new element to the game." Toner holds up a purple clue with an odd-shaped U on it. "This is called a Boomerang Ticket. If a team comes in last place in an elimination round, they can use the Ticket to boomerang the loss on the second-to-last place team; sending THEM home instead." The racers gasp. "Viewers will get to vote for three of you to win one of the tickets. Tickets will only be valid for the next three legs after it is given out. Understood?" The majority of them nod, eager to begin the game. "Your first clue box is over there." Toner points to the silver box topped off with a yellow button. "Good luck. On your marks..." All the All-Stars prepare to run for it. "... get set..." A few of them bounce on their feet, almost ready to sprint. "... GO!!!" The sound of 36 pairs of feet pounding on the ground fills Toner's ears as the teams take off. Team after team collects the first tip of the entire race. "'Race on foot to Central Park'," Cal reads. "'And find the next tip box for your next clue'," Zander finishes. The co-workers and married couple take the lead, being trailed behind by the prostitutes, olympians, and humans. "Here comes our competition!" "Move it or lose it, bronze brats," Jon snarks as him and Dev pass the olympians. Tammy growls at them. She turns to her partner. "Permission to open my mouth?" she asks. Rachel says nothing, giving her the same glare as before. "Never mind." The All-Stars continue to run up Fair Oaks Avenue. Griffin reaches the clue box first, the obese tiger panting and covered in sweat. "Nice job, hun." Zander kisses him on the cheek and takes the tip. "It's a Detour: 'Balloons or Bennies'?" A Detour requires each team to make a choice of two tasks. In this case, teams can either head into the middle of the park and use hunting weapons to shoot down balloons until they find their next clue; OR head to a local diner and scarf down a few servings of eggs benedict. Complete either task, and they will receive their next clue. Cal & Ren arrive next. "Chow down on a whole plate of eggs?" Cal asks. "For free?! I'm already loving this season; we're doing Bennies." "Bennies," Griffin agrees. "Balloons," Tammy says. Rachel goes along with it because she knows Tammy has a small egg allergy. Jon & Devon and Brent & Syd join them in the balloon task; Brent because he's feeling destructive and Jon because the rules didn't say he wasn't allowed to use his claws. The olympians arrive at the middle of the park first. Dozens of stakes are stuck into the ground. Tied to each one is what looks like one hundred balloons. "You've got to be kidding me," Tammy complains. Off to the side is a rack stocked with a bunch of assorted weapons; bows and arrows, daggers, spears. Anything to pop the balloons open. The skunk grabs ahold of a few daggers and urges Rachel, "Let's get moving." The next seven teams make it to the clue box. A few of them choose Balloons (Angie & Jennifer, Donna & Vito, June & Mabel and Josee & Ryan) while others head to do Bennies (Claudia & Hans, Kit & Kitty, and Jasper & Mitch). Those in the middle of eating eggs benedict have zero trouble completing the task. Cal practically buries his face in the food; Zander feeds Griffin by the forkful. The only team struggling are the bakers. Hans shivers at his first bite. When Claudia gives him a glare, he says, "What? This Detour is a bust for me either way; I hate the taste of eggs and I'm allergic to latex." "Then here, let me give you some help with that." She grabs Hans' head and forces a forkful of eggs into his mouth. She covers his mouth until he swallows. Hans shudders and collapses on the floor. "At least he ate something and we won't get a penalty." The twins are also reluctant at first. "My sister is a huge picky eater," Kit explains. Kitty gulps when the waitress arrive to hand them their plate. "Really, I'm fine eating a lot of disgusting foods: ranch dressing, broccoli, beans, etc. But it comes to eggs... we don't have a happy relationship." She cuts out a bite and wills herself to eat it. Kitty literally chokes it down. "Ugh... gross." Five more teams arrive to complete the detour. Barbara & Eddy and Sally & Sindy opt to complete Bennies. Chris & Zack, Jack & Maria, and Joey & Miles choose Balloons. The vegetarians' reason of choosing is simple. "We tend to avoid eating challenges as much as we can," Joey says. "Besides, I'm good at popping balloons. It can't be that hard, can it?" But it is. Even with a perfect shot every time, Tammy cannot seem to find one balloon in the huge mass of them in the sky that holds the next tip. Brent and Angie use the archery weapons to search. Both of them shooting sharp wooden arrows directly upwards. Their arrows make the balloons go POP POP POP. Yet no clue is found. "Hey, you're pretty good at that," Angie compliments. "Thanks." Brent can say the same back but it wouldn't feel right to him. "I use to take archery lessons when I was a kid." Jennifer overhears their conversation. To her, it almost sounds like flirting but it wouldn't be smart to jump the gun right away. For now, she just focuses on the challenge. Her weapon of choice was a five foot spear. Devon's strategy is to pull the balloon strings down then Jon pops them open using his claws. It will work much faster. But before they can give it a try, the marines pass them with Chris saying, "You know you have to pop them while they're in the air, right?" The prostitutes look over the clue again. Jon growls when he realizes that Chris was right. Seems like smart-aleck needs a little nudge into last place, he thinks. Not even one hour in the race and already an enemy to deal with. "Why did you help them?" Zack asks. "Because, we need an alliance and Jon & Devon are pretty strong players." In the back of Chris' mind, he secretly hopes that Zack doesn't try to include Cal & Ren in their group again. Last year when Zack made allies with them, Chris ended up getting threatened by Ren. "I see. Well, for now, can we focus on ourselves?" Zack only wants Chris to keep his head in the game. After all, ever since they started dating, Chris has been a little more... pushy. June digs out her flashlight while also pulling the balloons down. She places the balloon between her eyes and the end of her light. "What are you doing?" Jack asks her. "Easy," the wolf responds, "light reveals the inside of balloons better. With this, we can be able to tell which ones are empty and which ones aren't." For the one she has in her paw, it reveals to be empty. She lets it float back to the sky. "I'd say we'd use the sun but it's awfully cloudy." A slight breeze brushes them both. "Pretty smart," the bear says. Then goes to thinking. Since the adrenaline junkies aren't back this season, Jack needs a third team to replace them in his old alliance. "Hey, before you go, I want to know if perhaps you want to work together with me, Maria, Angie, and Jen." "Ah," June recalls. "The Axis alliance; the one formed to eliminate the bakers from the race and failed? I'll pass." "Why? With you and Mabel on our side, the three of us can dominate this competition." "True, our strengths in mental challenges would add to your physical strengths." She nods towards the sorority sisters, who seem to be pushing themselves for this task. "But the answer is still no. I only came back to help my friends make up. Sorry, Jack." She walks away. Maria comes up behind the bear, startling him. "What are you doing?" the dog asks. "I was trying to get us an alliance," Jack responds. "But I guess she isn't into the idea at the moment." "Of course not, because she's trying to focus on the game." Maria throws a dagger into the air, but misses any of the balloons. It lands on the ground with a thud. "You see that? You need to be helping me." She grabs his arm with strength Jack didn't know she had before and she pulls him in the other direction. Our last place officers make it to the clue box. "Hopefully we haven't fallen too far behind," Judy says. "'Balloons or Bennies'." Nick snatches the clue out of her paws. "I think last year proves that we cannot be doing any eating tasks. We're doing Balloons." The fox runs with the rabbit on his tail towards the field of balloons. Most of our teams continue to struggle with the Detour. Angie & Jen, no matter how awesome they look popping balloons left and right, cannot seem to find any clues hidden within them. Syd tries to use a slingshot to pop them open, but only succeeds in taking his eye out. Josee tries to balance Ryan on her shoulders so he can reach up with a sword to poke them open. Joey & Miles work together using BB guns. When the officers arrive on the scene, Nick picks up a strange-looking weapon. A circular blade with a handle in the middle. "What in the world is this thing?" he asks. The technical term for it is a "chakram" but neither of them know that. Thinking it was some sort of boomerang, the fox tosses it though the air. The blade flies the air and cuts thru several balloons; several pops echo over their heads. The chakram comes flying back and Nick catches it, staring down at it wide-eyed. "Why did anyone leave this thing behind?" he asks. The officers run to join the others focusing on the challenge. Meanwhile, things are beginning to get interesting over at the breakfast bar. "Done!" Cal belches loud enough to be overheard by everyone. "That was just gross!" Barbara shouts. The bear blushes. The waitress hands the next tip over to Ren, who gladly accepts it. "'Take a taxi to LAX and book two seats on the next flight to... Norway'?" There are three planes that will take a direct flight to Oslo, the capital of Norway. Teams that catch seats on the first flight have the advantage of arrive first. Meanwhile, those on flight number three... are pretty much doomed to be eliminated. Ren pulls Cal out of the park towards the street to catch a cab. "We're done." Tammy tosses her weapons to the ground and looks to her partner. "Hey, at least we're the second team done." Rachel sighs. "Are you going to talk to me at all?" The green cat exhales and rubs her sore forehead. "Yeah. I just don't want a repeat of last year." "I swear I will not be that same person again," Tammy promises. She even holds a paw over her chest as to show her insistence. Rachel grabs the clue off the ground, moving the balloon pieces out of the way. "What does it say?" Rachel's eyes skim over the paper. "Take a flight to Norway. Let's go." The olympians claim the second spot as they run off, leaving the other teams there more anxious to complete the task. Jon tosses a dagger into the air. It soars through one of the balloons and a clue floats down into his paws. "Finally," he groans. "We've been at this for almost a half an hour." Devon rubs his sore wrists. "Where does it say we have to go?" the tiger asks. "To LAX," Jon answers. "We're going to Norway." Never been there before, he thinks, but a long flight should let him get rested up for the next leg of the race. The prostitutes run off, ready to take third. Zack pops the balloon that holds the clue for the marines. Just like old times, he squeals with joy as soon as he sees it. Nick finds a tip easily using the chakram. The fox is still amazed that anyone would leave a very useful weapon like that behind. The officers were only there for minutes and they're already done. Angie & Jennifer complete the task, surprisingly without breaking a sweat. And those who chose the Bennies task are also finishing up. Barbara & Eddy almost fight over the last bite of eggs before the former of the two snatches it up first. Griffin has eaten the majority of the eggs by the time Zander can get even a few more bites in. Jasper & Mitch try to have their own belching contest by the time they've gotten the tip. "Dude, that was gnarly!" Jasper says, waving his nose. Mitch thumps his chest with his fist. "What can I say? It takes years of practice." The boys leave with the twins right on their tails. With most of the teams grabbing the tip and filling up the first two flights, the race to not finish last becomes brutal for the last six teams. Right as the vegetarians catch a cab, Brent sends one arrow through two balloons and one clue comes flying down. "Yes!" he cheers. "We're still in the game." And we finished before that bitch, Mabel, he adds to himself. "Don't you want to stay and help our friends?" Syd asks, grabbing his wrist then pointing to the graduates. Brent throws his shades back on. "Yeah, right. Those two can figure it out on their own. They're practically geniuses." He runs off. Syd looks back for a minute before his partner urges, "Hurry up!" "Hurry up," Mabel says to her partner with a flat tone. "We're already behind." "I'm trying!" June whines. She notices the humans taking their leave. So much for trying to make up with them. "You know you're supposed to be helping too, right?" The pink cat sighs unemotionally and picks up a rock from the ground. She aims carefully, heaving with all her might towards one near the edge of the bunch. It pops open and a clue floats to the ground. June gapes at her in shock. "What?" Mabel asks. "That balloon was lower to the ground, it had weight inside of it." She walks off slowly to where the others went. The daters overhear their strategy and they take the same approach to the task. The drivers push them over as they finish, running as fast as they can to the street. "What?" Donna asks. "Just because I'm a changed girl doesn't mean I can't enjoy myself every now and then." In last place, the telephone operators and bakers fight to catch a cab to the airport first. "This is deja vu all over again," Sindy says. Sally takes charge, stomping out into the street and holding a paw up, forcing a taxi to stop in the middle of the street. The bakers stare at them in awe. "See? Now we're not in last," she says. "Now hop in." *** All 18 teams make it to the airport and the flights have been booked. (In order on completion) Teams that will take Flight #1: Cal & Ren, Tammy & Rachel, Devon & Jon, Chris & Zack, Barbara & Eddy, and Griffin & Zander. Flight #2: Nick & Judy, Angie & Jennifer, Jasper & Mitch, Kit & Kitty, Jack & Maria, and Joey & Miles. And lastly, Flight #3: Brent & Syd, June & Mabel, Donna & Vito, Josee & Ryan, Sally & Sindy, and Claudia & Hans. *** "Who will win the first leg of the race?" Toner asks. "And which All-Star team will be eliminated first? Stay tuned for Amazing Race All-Star premiere part two..."
