Journey to Another World 4

Ch. 17

I was almost comical as the girls were all stopped at the edge of the small lapping waves, while looking down at their feet/paws/or tails. Not truly sure of what to make of the large body of water at which they were at the edge of. It was at that moment that I thought of just going over there and tackling one of the girls into the water, but due to my injuries I was just content with sneaking up to Undine and yelling out a loud ‘BOO'. Effectively sending her a good distance out into the water with a long drawn out ‘Eek'.

What I didn't notice was that the other girls suffered the same result, only they didn't go that far as Undine had. Each of the girls were now up to their shins in the water, whereas Kit was up to her knees. "What in the world is wrong with you Donovin. You nearly scared the life out of us." Rena said as she turned and yelled back at me, to which Kit growled/barked her two cents in as well.

To which both Jenavee and I couldn't help but laugh at their reaction. "Well, how long were you going to just stare at the water? The ocean is made to be swum in, not watched." I said back to her as I pointed further out to the deeper waters. They all turned and looked out to sea to see Undine happily jumping strait up out of the water and letting out gleeful squeals.

This seemed to be the turning point as both Rena and Kit went a bit farther out into the water and started splashing around. It was pretty funny to watch those two playing around in the water, as Rena would use her paws to splash Kit and Kit would use an Iron Tailed attack to douse Rena. Once Rena was fully soaked, Jenavee decided to help out her sister and jumped into the fray as well.

Both Steven and I sat down in the sand and enjoyed the show. "I think that I'll release my team as well. After all, they are water types and would love to splash around in the waves as well." So quickly standing, he pulled off all his Pokeballs and released them at that edge of the water. It turned out that he had not only a Marill, but also a Lanturn which he released into the water itself, a Croconaw, Wingull that quickly took flight into the air to ride the breeze coming off the water, another water based fish Relicath, and finally a Buizel that was quick to smile at Steven with it's arms crossed.

"As some of you are already ready, lets enjoy a day at the beech. So no battling today, lets just have some fun." With a resounding cry from each of his Pokemon, they all turned and quickly headed out into the water or deeper waters. "It's been so long since we've enjoyed a day where we haven't battled a trainer or two." After a bit of convincing from the Pokemon, the two of us finally decided to join our Pokemon in a day at the beach.

Finally the sun decided to drift over to the far side of Mt. Cornet, and signaled the end of our day of fun. So giving a sharp shrill whistle, all the girls turned and slowly nodded to me. "Don't worry girls. We'll come back tomorrow." I told them as each of them slowly exited the water, small drips of which slowly fell off their bodies, and awes of regret. Undine was the hardest to call back in, as she would constantly forget after she entered the water again with a big splash.

It took Jenavee almost all of her psychic powers to lift her out of the water (water included), back to shore and hover pretty close to me. The whole thing looked like a giant soap bubble with water filled in it, with a giant serpent swimming within. "I know that your enjoying your time out here by the beach Undine, but it's time to head in and get dinner started." Undine slowly stopped swimming within her water bubble and swam over and tried to say something to me nose to nose. I turned and looked back at Jenavee who was standing several paces back from us, and froze when I saw she had a wicked smile on her face.

Just then I heard a loud popping sound and was instantly drenched by the water held within the bubble. (Author: Ever had some-one dump a bucket of water over your head? Ya it'd be like that only five times worse) I don't know how long I stayed standing there with my arms outstretched like a scare crow in a corn field, but was brought back to reality as I could hear laughter coming from behind me. I slowly turned and saw that Jenavee, Rena, Kit, and even Steven standing back there laughing at me.

Both Kit, Rena, and Steven fell over shortly after and were laughing there on their backs, while Jenavee stood there holding her hand over her mouth. ‘Well, I was going to get you fully into the water. One way or another.' She said privately to me as she too lost her composure and fell over laughing.

"Why you bunch of laughing gits. Why I aught a..." Undine said, before I placed a hand on her slender upper body. "WHAT!?" I made a come hither notion with my finger and she leaned down. I gently whispered something to her and a long smile spread across her face. "Oh Donovin. You do come up with some of the most interesting ideas."

A few moments later the group of laughing hyenas finally stopped laughing and sat up. "Now wait a minute... Where's your..." Steven didn't get a chance to finish what he was asking as the sound of a twister quickly started to howl.

"I know that Jenavee couldn't have come up with that water bubble idea on her own, so why don't you all just enjoy my idea of getting someone really wet." Just then a huge cyclone formed just at the water edge, which was quickly gathering up a large amount of water within it. Each of the groups eyes went wide as they realized what was about to happen. "Time for a thorough soaking." With that said the water twister attack that Undine had just learned jumped out of the water and quickly dissipated over the groups heads, thoroughly drenching all of us. (Including me again which was quite a unprepared surprise)

Undine came slithering out of the water, to which she'd been hiding to see all of us staring daggers at her. "Oh no." She said, but before she could fly out to open waters she was hit with several water pulses from Steven's Pokemon, along with Jenavee and her psychic water bubble.

It was another several hours was the battle against us and her finally ended. I don't think I could get any wetter, as my cloths weighed at least 50lbs heavier. So with a heavy laugh up at the completely dark sky, we all decided we'd had enough and quickly headed for the Hotel. As we walked the short distance both our Pokemon stayed a little ways behind us to chat in their native tongues, so I turned to him and smiled. "I have to admit, that I haven't had that much fun splashing around in the water since I was a little kid."

Steven also laughed. "Just like you, I usually get totally drenched when I help to train my Pokemon. Though it's usually the new ones that I capture that use their water attacks on me." We both laughed again.

Looking down at my watch, I could see that it was bordering on eight at night. So showing this to Steven we quickened our pace but were shocked at what we found when we arrived at the hotel.

There, laying outside the hotel doors was my pack, along with Steven's. We stopped, looked at each other, then walked over to our packs. I noticed that there was a note pinned to the back of mine and tore it off.

Dear trainers;

We are sorry to inform you, but your stay with us has ended. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are fully booked now and were only able to accommodate you for that short time you were with us. We hope that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope that you'll come and join us again in the future. So book your reservations today.

Hotel Management

I don't know how long I stood there or re-read the note, but was brought out of my stupor when a hand fell on my shoulder. "What is going on Donovin? Why is all your things sitting outside the Hotel? Why can't we just go inside and get our dinner and go to bed?" Jenavee asked.

I slowly turned around and faced all the Pokemon and held up the note. "It says here that they're fully booked and needed our rooms for people who've previously booked rooms." A lot of moans and groans were heard. I looked over at Steven and I could see that he wasn't happy by what the management was doing to us. "It looks like we'll have to find somewhere else to spend the night tonight." I told him.

He walked up to the door and in a fit of frustration he pounded a couple of times on the locked door. "Damn jerks. They were probably waiting for us to step outside so they could throw our stuff out of the rooms and clean it up for those people who made their reservations." He pounded on the door once more as it made a hollow banging sound within.

"Well, I guess there's no helping it. We'll just have to find some place to sleep for the night." I told him as I turned to my girls and could see Undine smile. The smile was a little awkward but I thought I had a pretty good idea what she had in mind. "Alright Undine. Out with it." I told her.

"Am I that easy to read?" She asked. To which all the rest of the girls just turned and nodded to her. "Oh, alright. I was just thinking that it would be really nice if we all, just went ahead and slept on the beach tonight. That's all." She said as I picked up my pack and slowly adjusted it over the cuts on my body, to sit comfortably on my back.

"Well..." Wince. "Man that smarts. Undine does have a point." I said as a wound probably just opened up due to me putting my pack on. "I've..." Wince. "I've always wanted to sleep on the beach." I turned to Steven. "How's about you? Would you care to join us tonight?" I asked Steven as he turned and laughed.

"Like I said before. I'm not leaving you until I get that battle out of you and your Pokemon." He said as he too picked up his pack and we all headed back towards the beach.

It was such a laugh as Undine quickly darted ahead of all of us, only to come to a dead stop right at the edge of the water. Once we all got there we saw her dip a tip of one of her tail/fan into the water, only to jerk it back out and watch as a shiver ran up from her tail to her head. "What is the meaning of this?" She wailed. "I only left the water for a little while and the water has turned icy cold upon my return."

"Well, of course Undine. The sun has set so it can't warm the water anymore." I told her as we arrived at the beach. So setting down my pack I started to set up my tent with Jenavee, while Rena and Kit went out into the forest to harvest decently dry branches and such for a fire. About an half an hour later, we had a decent fire going thanks to Kit's fire abilities to light the slightly green branches they found. Another hour later our food was gently cooking over the fire.

"So is it true? Are we really going to have some spaghetti tonight?" Jenavee asked as I stirred the noodles until they were nice and stringy, then began to work on the sauce.

"That's right Jenavee. I'm going to keep my promise to you and make that spaghetti dinner that I promised so long ago." And an hour later we were sitting around with spaghetti sauce covering our mouths and bellies full of noodles. I couldn't help but laugh as I looked around our little fire pit at all the faces covered in the deep red sauce, only to get a few laughs at myself as I too sported a spaghetti mustache and beard.

"I have to say Donovin, that I'm pretty impressed by your culinary skills. I would have never thought that you could actually make something this good over an open flame like you did." Steven said as all his and my Pokemon nodded to me. I couldn't help but stand and take a formal bow.

"Why thank you all. If you think that was tasty, then you should try some of my peach cobbler." I said but then my smile turned into a frown. "Oops sorry. I forgot that I don't have..." Then the memories started to flow of my home and how I'd learned how to cook over an open flame with or without a dutch oven. I slowly sat back down in the sand and looked around the dancing flames to each of the confused looking friends. "Never mind. I just remembered that I don't have the things I need to make it. Sorry everybody." I told them as I dropped my head in shame.

Jenavee slowly got up and walked over to kneel down behind me, to wrap my arms around my neck. ‘It is where your come from isn't it. That ‘peach cobbler' thing.' She said over the link with her psychic powers.

‘Sort of. It's a dish that we'd prepare when we were out camping like we are right now. The only thing is that we'd need things that aren't made here.' I thought back to her, only to have the memories continue to flow. It was almost like watching a movie that was coming out of my eyes, as I'd be out with the other Boy Scouts, hiking, camping, and of course cooking our different meals.

"Hay, Donovin. Are you ok man?" Steven said as he stood up and looked over sparking flames.

"Huh? What? What are you talking about Steven?" I asked him as I looked up to him.

"Your crying man. Are you hurt somewhere?" He asked in a general concern sort of way.

I reached up and felt around my eyes and indeed I could feel the wetness. ‘I am crying. I wonder why.' I thought to myself.

‘It is because you miss your home Donovin. It is just like us.' Rena said privately to me as she swept her paw around to indicate everyone around the fire. ‘At some point in our lives we all get a little home sick.'

‘How do you deal with it?' I asked her, only see her stand up and come over and hug me as well as Jenavee.

‘Like this. We focus on what we have here and now. Sure it is ok to think of what might be happening back home from time to time. I often wonder what my mother is doing right now, is she worried about me or such, but I do not dwell on it as I know that she still loves me. Just remember that there are people here that love you and care about what you do with your life here.' Rena said as I looked over to Kit and Undine as they got up and came over. Kit lay her head down in my lap while Undine wrapped her large body around us all.

"I don't know what's going on here, but it looks like they all care deeply for you Donovin." Steven said as he looked down at his Pokemon. "You know. I'm kind of jealous of the bond that you share with your Pokemon. I wish I knew how to make such a bond with all of my Pokemon." Just then his Buizel and his Marill came over and laid in his lap.

Both Rena and Jenavee pressed their cheeks (Author: Their faces your perv.) against my face to stop me from answering him, then answered him together. "We love him, and he loves us." Then both gave him a wink, then turned to me and gave me a kiss on either cheek. With that said and done, Undine plopped her head down on the top of mine and smiled to Steven. "Though it may be hard to believe, Donovin rescued us all from a life of constant pain and emotional turmoil."

Then Kit started barking, but Jenavee translated what she said in each of our minds (At least to Steven and I as we couldn't understand Pokemon speech). *"Once he rescued us, he healed all our wounds, both on the in and outside. Then made us each a member of his close family and treats us as equals amongst the other girls."*
