I Love You Twice: First Date

By Green

Kelly Parrish lay on her bed, eyes closed, smile spread across her face, tail lazily floating back and forth as her older brother Dave gently kneaded her back, his dark fingers seeming to find each and every muscle, hidden beneath her thick brown-black-and-white fur, and rub it to blissful comfort. The concept of a brother massaging his sister's back is an unusual one, especially if the siblings, like Dave and Kelly, were in their late teens, 18 and 16 respectively. The idea of a teenage boy giving his sister a backrub isn't entirely unheard of, though it's probably safe to say that most girls wouldn't be comfortable taking their shirt off before they began. Kelly, on the other hand, lay there completely topless, having even unclasped her bra to give her brother unfettered access to her back. Of course, most brothers and sisters didn't have the kind of relationship Dave and Kelly Parrish had. What seemed like a lifetime ago, but was really less than a year, the two of them had realized they shared a mutual attraction and begun to experiment sexually with each other, touching and exploring each others' bodies with hands and mouths. It was on the fateful day that the two young felines had given their virginities to each other that they'd first openly admitted that what started as harmless, sexy fun had evolved into something more. Somewhere along the way, David and Kelly Parrish had fallen in love. It was best summed up with a phrase Dave had inadvertently invented while trying to find a way to express how he felt: 'I love you twice.' Once as siblings, and once as soulmates. Of course, things quickly got very complicated for the pair. They had to be very careful not to tip their hand, it would be catastrophic if their parents or one of their friends walked in on them making out (or, God forbid, actually catching them doing The Deed). And there was always a little bit of anxiety surrounding condoms during their lovemaking. Because they were blood relatives, the idea of Kelly getting pregnant was an even more apocalyptic concept for the Parrishes than it was for most young couples. So they were reasonably a little paranoid about their protection, stopping the fun and throwing off the rhythm if either of them was worried that the condom was still intact. But the way they felt about each other, the way they made each other so happy, and let's face it, the amazing sex they had together, more than made up for all the secrecy and worry they had to endure.

That's not to say that their relationship was perfect. Up 'til a mere hour before this very backrub, Kelly and Dave were fighting. A couple of days earlier, they'd gotten quite drunk together while celebrating nothing in particular, just enjoying each other's company, and Kelly had charitably decided to give her brother a BJ. It wasn't like a chore for her, she liked making Dave feel good, but she had a single ironclad rule for the activity: Dave had to warn her before he climaxed, so she had time to back off. The first time she'd gone down on him she'd let him finish in her mouth, only to discover that she hated the taste of his seed. Since then, she tried to avoid that sensation at all costs. But this latest time, when he'd been half in the bag, not only had he not said one word before he came, he'd actually held her head in place with his hands, preventing her from pulling back once his orgasm had begun. Understandably, she was furious. She'd spat his 'present' out directly onto his pants, slapped him in the face, and stormed out of the room. In the two days following that, she'd put on the pretense of civility in front of their parents, Alan and Sara, who would be concerned about why she was suddenly so angry with her brother, but behind the scenes she had shrugged off all his advances and gave him quite a few rude suggestions on ways to occupy his time. And so it was this morning, when she was trying to get her mind off him by watching a hidden camera YouTube video about a confused karaoke singer who seemed to be the only one who noticed that the lyrics to the songs were all wrong. He was right in the middle of stumbling through a version of 'Party All The Time' with the title phrase replaced by 'Murder All Your Friends' when there was a knock on the door. Pausing the video, which wasn't really that funny anyway, Kelly opened the door and frowned when she saw her brother standing there.

"Oh. It's you. What do you want, Dave?"

The fact that she was calling him 'Dave' was an indicator that she was very very mad at him indeed, and that if he even thought about suggesting anything un-brotherly, she'd make sure he walked funny for days. He said nothing and pulled his hands out from behind his back, holding out a large bouquet of roses. Her face remained carefully annoyed.

"Cliché much, big brother?"

Once again, he said nothing, this time extending out a small envelope. She stared incredulously.

"Are you kidding me?"

He shrugged and smiled that little smirk that she loved so much, though she would never admit it at the moment.

"Humour me, sis."

Rolling her eyes, Kelly opened the envelope and removed a greeting card. After looking at the front, her eyes widened and she suddenly laughed, caught by surprise. The front of the card had the usual greeting card meadow with flowers and sunshine and butterflies, with a flowing golden script at the top of the scene gently relaying its message. Kelly couldn't help but smile.

"Oh my God! 'I'm sorry I came in your mouth'? Where did you find this, Davey?"

His smile widened ever-so-slightly. She'd called him 'Davey' for the first time in three days.

"Blank card. Laser Printer. You do the math."

She opened it up and let out a giggle. The interior of the card was a filthy, graphic poem about fellatio and cunnilingus, ending with a colourful description of Dave's drunken mistake and a verse begging for his lover's forgiveness.

"Did you write this yourself?"

"Every word, started as soon as I slept off the booze."

"Awww, Davey, this is actually kind of sweet."

He dared to look hopeful.

"Does this mean you forgive me?"

"Are mommy and daddy home?"

The fact that she still called their parents that was one of many things about Kelly that Dave thought was cute.

"Nope. Grocery shopping."

"Good. Because I forgive you."

She threw her arms around his neck and kissed him. After a happy moment passed, she broke it off.

"Mmmm. I've missed that. I should get mad at you more often, you're so thoughtful when you're grovelling for forgiveness."

"Oh, I'm not done yet."

"Even better! What did you have in mind?"

"I thought I'd start by giving you a massage, and then see where it goes from there."

And now the morphic Maine coon lay on her bed, purring loudly, as her brother did his best to make her feel good. She didn't even object when Dave undid her skirt and started sliding it down her thighs, since he immediately started to rub and knead at her legs and butt the same way he had on her back. He left her bright pink panties in place, a pleasing visual. She sighed contentedly as he hit a tense spot on her left leg.

"You're very good at that, Davey. Apology definitely accepted."

"Good. I was really worried for a while there. You haven't gotten that mad at me in a long time."

"Of course I got mad. You pulled a major Dick Move."

She looked over her shoulder at him, her serious face on.

"Honestly? Your stuff tasted a whole lot better than it did the first time, I guess your idea to eat sweet foods and stuff really worked. I didn't mind the taste, what made me angry is that you just forced me to take it instead of asking me first. You shouldn't treat me like that, Davey, even if you were drunk."

"It won't happen again, Kels. I'm really sorry."

"I know, that's why I'm forgiving you. That and your magic fingers. I'm even willing to consider letting you... do what you did. You know, without getting mad."

He chuckled and she blushed, looking up at him embarrassedly.

"Shut up, you try talking straight when someone's groping your butt."

He smiled and let one of the hands on her rear travel southward and cop a feel of her treasures through her underwear. Then, maddeningly, he immediately backed off and started working her tail instead. A short time passed silently, and then he spoke up again.

"Kelly?"

"Mmmm?"

"I've been thinking for a while now, we don't really do anything 'relationship-y' other than, you know, fool around."

"That's not our fault, Davey. It's not like we can skip down the street holding hands or carve our names into a tree or something. We talked about that, we have to keep 'us' a secret until we can move somewhere where nobody knows us."

"Well yeah, but... but what if we went somewhere nobody knows us right now, just for the day? We could act like a couple in public and no one would care. We could even go today."

"Are you saying what I think you're saying, Davey?"

He grinned.

"Kelly, do you want to go out with me?"

She let out a high-pitched squeal of joy.

"Ooooh, Davey, that's a great idea! Of course I do! We can go right after you finish my massage."

"I think it's pretty much done now, actually."

She turned over, a mischievous grin on her face as her brother openly leered at her nearly naked body.

"Nuh-uh. You still have to get the front."

She reached up and pulled him down on top of her, slipping one hand down into his pants and the other around his neck, pulling his lips to hers. After kissing for a moment, he broke off and smiled widely.

"Of course, how silly of me, must have slipped my mind. I'll get right on that."

And then there were no more words, only giggles and moans and gasps.

Some time later, as they sat on the bed, pulling their clothes back on, still purring from the residual pleasure, Kelly leaned over and hugged her brother from behind, resting her chin on his shoulder and nuzzling her cheek against the black fur on his face. Meanwhile she reached around his chest, lacing her fingers together in front of the white, four-pointed star over his heart, the only spot on Dave's entire body where the fur wasn't darkest ebon.

"You were wonderful, Davey."

"Thanks. You were great yourself, sis."

He tilted his head down and planted a kiss on her temple.

"There's a bus to the city leaving the mall in about twenty minutes. Let's get going."

She nodded and pulled her bra back on, latching it closed behind her as she asked,

"So where are we going to go, Davey?"

"I figure we'll end with dinner in a nice restaurant, but the day before that is up to us."

"'Kay."

The two of them left separate notes for their parents for when they returned, Kelly claiming to be over at her gal pal Trisha's house and Dave saying he was helping his best friend Daniel with some homework. It was a short walk from the Parrish household to the local mall, and the siblings arrived at the bus stop right in front of it just as the bus pulled up. After quickly checking the bus to make sure that nobody they knew was taking the same trip (which would defeat the purpose of leaving town in the first place), they sat together in the back row. Shortly after they pulled away from the mall, Dave smiled that special smirk of his and threw his arm around his sister's shoulders, pulling her in to lean against him as he settled back against the window. She looked up at him, bemused, and he winked.

"What? Can't a guy get in his girlfriend's personal space?"

She said nothing, just shook her head and chuckled quietly before giving him a quick kiss, but Dave could tell she was ridiculously pleased that he had called her his girlfriend. The trip took the better part of an hour, and snuggled up against Dave the way she was, Kelly managed to doze off. When he realized she was asleep, Dave took the opportunity to study her face, feeling very close to her emotionally as well as literally. He extended a finger and gently smoothed out a tuft of unruly cheek fur, and swallowed as his sister, his lover, unconsciously pushed her face slightly against his hand, nuzzling against him in her sleep.

I could look at that face for the rest of my life.

He gently kissed the top of her head and whispered in her ear.

"I love you, Kelly."

She began to purr in her sleep, and his smile widened even further.

As much as he hated to do it, he nudged her back to consciousness when they arrived at their destination. She jerked awake with a snort, not entirely pulled together.

"Huh? Wha?"

Dave laughed.

"You're cute when you're groggy, you know that?"

Her response may have been 'Oh, fuck you', but the embarrassed grin on her face showed that she didn't really mean it. They exited the bus, Dave stretching and Kelly yawning, and looked around.

"So what do you want to do first, Kels? We could go see a movie, or-"

"How about we do that?"

Dave turned to see his sister nod her head in the direction of a large poster on the fence next to them. It was advertising the recently-opened Morphic History exhibit at the nearby history museum.

"You want to go to a museum on our date? Who are you and what have you done with my sister?"

"Come on, Davey, it could be fun. Besides, one of the reasons I liked your idea is that I can do things like this-"

She leaned in and kissed him briefly.

"-in public without worrying about getting caught. When you're at the movies, everyone's looking at the screen, not at the people. It would make no difference if we were here or back home."

He smirked.

"Does that mean you want to fool around the next time we go see a movie?"

She blushed and looked away, but smiled slightly.

"...maybe. The point is, you can wander a museum at your own pace, and I like the idea of getting in a little 'us' time between learning about old stuff. Hey, maybe we can catch a movie afterward."

He crossed his arms and stared at the poster like he was trying to find a hidden message.

"Hmmm. I don't know, Kelly. I like the idea of getting some hands-on time with you, but a history museum? It could be lamer than a boner in church."

"Classy."

"Yet still true."

"Come on, Davey, it's at least about morphic history, it could be interesting."

"Well..."

She grinned mischievously.

"If you go with me... I'll do that thing you like."

He stared at her incredulously, eyes widening, pupils narrowing to slits.

"You mean the thing with the-"

"The very same."

"Really?"

She nodded, grinning.

"Damn... I'd be an idiot to say no, then."

He offered her his arm, and they walked, hand in hand, down the street, to the address on the poster.

And so it was that they found themselves wandering through a museum, Kelly hanging on to Dave's arm like it was just that limb she'd fallen in love with. Dave glanced back at the last room they were in, about the evolutionary divide between ferals and morphics, as well as the latest scientific theories about what had caused it.

"You were right, Kels. This stuff is pretty neat. I liked the part where they talked about how early scientists thought that ferals were morphics who had pissed God off somehow."

"Yeah, that was funny. And of course it's neat! You should listen to your little si- your girlfriend more often, Davey."

She glanced around, but no one was paying attention to them. Dave smirked and spoke in a hushed tone.

"You know what I was thinking? In the wild, feral cats get it on with their family members all the time. If we weren't morphic, we could bone all day, right in front of our parents, and they wouldn't care."

"Yes, well, we'd also have to eat raw field mice and pigeons. And Davey?"

"Yeah?"

"I want you to picture the last time we were together."

His smirk grew into a grin.

"Done and done."

"Okay, now imagine mommy and daddy sitting across the room watching."

That grin vanished without a trace as a look of pure horror spread across Dave's face. Kelly saw this and laughed.

"Next time think before you talk, Davey."

"You're kind of a bitch sometimes, Kels. Fortunately, I kind of like that. What's up next?"

Kelly glanced at the map they'd grabbed at the door.

"Looks like it's a hall of morphics who contributed important things to society. This could be cool."

She stopped suddenly as she felt her brother's hands firmly grip her hips from behind. Raising an eyebrow, she looked over her shoulder at him.

"Davey?"

He was staring straight at her butt, without shame or subtlety, a smirk on his face. Without saying anything, he moved one of his hands downwards to paw and grope at her butt. Kelly was genuinely shocked, speaking in a stage whisper to try to avoid unwanted attention.

"What the hell are you doing, Davey?!"

"What does it look like I'm doing? I'm copping a feel."

"B-But someone could see!"

Instead of stopping, he gently pulled her closer to him, and slid a hand between her legs, his smile growing as she bit her lip and shivered, her tail flipping back and forth in agitation, slapping against his legs as he continued to rub and caress.

"There's no one else in this hallway, babe. It's just you and me."

"They could look in from another room!"

He leaned forward and kissed the back of her neck. From this distance he could hear her make the smallest, quietest whimper as she shuddered again.

"Let them look. We're just a young couple in love, getting a bit too enthusiastic. No one knows who we are, Kels. The worst thing that could happen is that someone tells us to get a room."

"We... we really shouldn't..."

"You know, Kelly, for all the complaining you've done, you haven't made any effort at all to make this stop. I wouldn't keep going if I wasn't so certain that you want this just as much as I do."

She was silent a moment, then she suddenly turned around to face him, her skin flushed underneath her fur.

"You bastard."

Before he could properly digest this statement, she grabbed his face and pulled it to hers, kissing him hungrily, hugging him tight against her. Dave, thoroughly enjoying himself, slowly walked her backwards, steering her towards a humble alcove off to the side of the hallway, a single turn which lead to an 'Authorized Personnel Only' door, the tiny chamber being just large enough for their purposes. Kelly leaned against the wall, Dave right in front of her, resting his arms on either side, the atmosphere intensely intimate. Dave quickly broke off the kiss and nibbled on her ear, eliciting a gasp from his sister.

"There, now nobody can see us. Is that better, sweetie?"

She smiled at the last word, then let out a happy sigh as he gave her a good old fashioned groping.

"God, Davey, I - I don't know what it is, but this is so..."

"Thrilling?"

"Yeah. Is this how other couples feel in public? I don't know how they manage to keep it in their pants!"

"This is the first time we've ever been able to show how we feel about each other in public. That probably has something to do with it. And it's your fault, you know."

"My fault?"

"Mmm-hmm. When you wear that skirt, it's all I can do to keep my hands off you. When you bent down to tie your shoe earlier, I almost cried. Look what you do to me."

He pushed his hips forward, pressing their fully-clothed bodies against each other.

"Oh my, is that really for little ol' me?"

She giggled quietly as he laid a trail of kisses along her throat. He groaned and nuzzled against her cheek.

"Christ, I want you so bad, Kels. I've got to have you."

Her eyes widened and her blush deepened.

"You mean right now? Right here? You haven't been this frisky since your birthday!"

"No, silly. That might be pushing the 'public display of affection' thing just a little bit. What if somebody came out of this door here? We could go out, find a hotel..."

She placed a finger over his lips and smiled wickedly, infected by his enthusiasm.

"Or maybe we could just find an empty bathroom."

He laughed quietly as he reached into his pockets.

"That's my girl."

Suddenly his face fell, then he turned his attention away from the beautiful girl in front of him to his hands, which were searching his pockets.

"Fuck. I don't have any condoms on me. I must have used the last one this morning, and then we left in such a hurry..."

Kelly's face fell as well, and she slung her purse off her shoulder and looked inside, growing increasingly upset as she rummaged through its contents.

"Oh no..."

"Oh no? I don't like oh no. Oh no is not good."

"Davey..."

"Oh please, Kelly, please don't say it, you'll break my heart."

"Well..."

"Or at least give me blue balls."

"I'm sorry, Davey, but I don't have any either."

Dave sighed heavily, head hanging down, ears flat against his skull.

"I told you not to say it."

"Sorry, Davey. You want to go out and find a pharmacy or something?"

"Nah, that's okay... the moment's kind of passed. It would probably be a really bad idea to get busy in public anyway. If some tightass security guard found us and called the cops for public indecency, I think we'd have a problem."

He sighed, then leaned forward and planted a kiss on her forehead, before leaving the alcove and walking across the hall to the clearly-labelled washrooms.

"Gimme a few minutes, I'ma go splash cold water on my face until I can go five seconds without thinking about sex."

As he walked away, Kelly noted that he had made no effort whatsoever to suggest that they go ahead and do it anyway without a condom, or try something that wouldn't require one. It was something she'd noticed in the past about Dave, he'd have surprisingly gentlemanly moments every now and then, thinking about her before himself without any effort on his part. It was one of the reasons she loved him. She smiled slightly, and made a mental note to do something extra special for him later. When he returned, his facial fur still quite damp, she whispered a quiet thanks in his ear, giggled at the blank look on his face, as he couldn't quite figure out what she was thanking him for (something that only made him even more endearing to her), and took his hand in hers. Together, they walked into the next room.

The exhibit was very interesting on the eyes. Colourful displays listed important events in morphic history, and life-sized replicas had been made of various morphics who had made important contributions to civilization in some way. The Parrishes wandered around aimlessly, checking the exhibits in no particular order. While Dave checked out the cleavage of a she-wolf in a tight dress who had died two hundred years before he was born, Kelly saw something that caught her attention in a big way. It was a replica of a female dog, a mix of breeds, predominantly husky, wearing a space suit and saluting, helmet tucked under her arm.

"Hey Davey, look!"

Dave tore his eyes away from the colonial canine's ample bosom and looked at the figure his sister was gesturing at.

"Who's this, Kels?"

"Who's this? Who's this? This is only one of the most important figures in the history of spaceflight."

Kelly had always been big into space. As a little girl, she'd been even more into science fiction than Dave, who preferred the fantasy genre. So it made sense that she recognized someone from that particular bit of world history. He squinted his eyes and stroked his chin, pretending to consider the lifelike statue.

"Hmm. Neil Armstrong's a lot sexier in person."

He got a light punch to the shoulder for that.

"Davey, this is Laika Morozov!"

"You say that like I should know that name."

"That's because you should, you dick! She was only the first cosmonaut ever!"

Dave was surprised to see Kelly's tail whipping back and forth behind her. She was genuinely agitated by his lack of knowledge.

When in doubt, use flattery.

"Sorry, Kelly, I really don't know. Why don't you share some of your vast intellect and fill me in?"

That seemed to calm her down and her voice took on a sound that Dave called 'Professor Kelly', a tour guide-like tone that only showed up when she was explaining something to someone. She didn't do it on purpose and got embarrassed when it was pointed out, but Dave had only just gotten himself back in her good books, so he said nothing.

"Back in the 50's, the Soviet Union was experimenting with spaceflight. They'd already put a feral dog in orbit in '55, and they wanted to see if a sentient could survive in space. They believed that humans were too important to risk for the experiment, but sacrificing a morphic in the name of science was just fine."

Dave put on an exaggerated frown.

"Damn commies."

She ignored his joke and continued.

"Laika Morozov volunteered for the experiment since she'd dreamt of going to space ever since she was a little girl. In '57, she became the first sentient creature to reach Earth's orbit, but there was a major malfunction with the re-entry system, and the module crashed and she died."

"That totally sucks."

"It does. Thing is, she realized it was going to happen, and told the control room over the radio that she wasn't sorry she'd volunteered because she'd fulfilled her lifelong dream and furthered the science of spaceflight for the motherland."

"Awfully kind of her."

"The Soviets were going to cover up the fact that the mission ever existed, so that no one would know about the failure, but someone leaked that last broadcast to the public, and all anyone could talk about was how courageous Morozov was. People started talking about how humans had been too afraid to risk their lives and refused the mission, and this morphic woman had volunteered for it just because she wanted to, not because she would be paid for it. Almost entirely because of her, the Soviet Union was one of the first countries to officially declare morphics equal to humans, and give them the same rights. The United States followed shortly after, not wanting to look inferior to the Russians in any way, and all the other countries followed those examples. Laika was posthumously awarded the Hero of Communism medal, the only morphic ever to receive it."

"Wow. She really was important."

"Yeah. I've looked up to her ever since I was little myself."

"You know, now that I think about it, I think I did know about her."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah. There was an episode of Doctor Who where they went back in time and met her just before her mission, and they accidentally let it slip that the mission would kill her, but she decided to do it anyway because she knew how important it was to her country and her people."

Kelly gave him a look.

"What?"

"You know about her because of a TV show?"

"...No, not really. I remembered after you started talking, that they talked about her in school one year during Morphic History Month."

He grinned.

"I just love to hear you talk about things that are important to you, you get this really passionate look in your eyes."

She blushed, but smiled.

"Really?"

"Mmm-hmm. You got the same look in your eyes that one time I freaked out after a bad dream and you told me how much you love me and didn't want us to break up."

Both her smile and her blush increased in severity.

"Well, that's pretty important too, you know."

He grinned.

"I'm not sure I do, maybe you should explain it to me."

"If you insist."

She leaned in and kissed him briefly, right there and then, drawing a couple of glances. The only negative response was from a crotchety old man passing them, who started muttering about 'blasted kids' and 'no respect' as he walked away. When the kiss ended, Dave smiled.

"Oh, now I get it."

Kelly giggled and glanced at their complimentary map.

"Come on, the dinosaur exhibit is up ahead."

"Cool. Just let me tie my shoe."

She started walking out of the room without him, exaggerating the motion of her hips as she did, rolling them so far at one point that he caught a tantalizing glimpse of her panties from his low viewpoint. Dave swallowed to help his suddenly dry mouth, then stood and glanced at the replica of Laika Morozov. He returned the manikin's eternal salute, whispered 'Thanks, comrade', and then turned and followed his sister, his love, out of the room.

A couple of hours later, after having explored the museum to its fullest, stopping to make out every ten or so minutes, they walked out the exit, minds full of knowledge, wondering what to do next.

"You wanna get something to eat, Kels?"

"I'm good. Are you hungry?"

"Not yet, I was just making a suggestion."

"Then how about we go see a movie?"

"There's nothing new out I want to see."

"Well, we both saw Star Trek with our friends, why not go see it together?"

He smiled and put his arm over her shoulder.

"I like that idea."

They found a nearby theatre, big enough that the popular movie was still playing a month after its release, and bought their tickets. Or rather, Dave bought their tickets, something that surprised and impressed Kelly, almost as much as his response to her surprise: a shrug and the words 'what are boyfriends for?'. Soon they were seated in a large theatre, the crowd smaller than it had been in May, and they had their row all to themselves, sitting comfortably in the middle. As the movie began and the USS Kelvin appeared on-screen, Dave yawned and put his arm around his lover, who giggled and whispered to him.

"Bit cliché, Davey?"

He winked at her and squeezed her shoulder.

"Don't pretend you don't like it."

They watched the movie together, eating from a large, expensive tub of popcorn, emblazoned with a Transformers 2 theme thanks to the impending release of that movie. The siblings exchanged quips about the movie quietly to each other, thoroughly enjoying themselves, until Kelly glanced over and saw her brother mesmerized by a certain character.

"Oh my God! You're totally checking out Uhura!"

Even in the dim lighting he looked embarrassed.

"Am not!"

"You totally are!"

"Well, I can't help it! This movie is full of hotties! Look, there's a perfect example! That's the hottest girl cat I've ever seen!"

Kelly frowned and looked at the screen - to see a close-up of Kirk and Spock.

"There aren't any felines on the-"

She trailed off as she looked back at Dave... who was looking directly at her, big smile on his face.

"Oh. I get it. Nicely done."

She leaned over and kissed his cheek.

"Flattery will get you everywhere, you know."

"Thanks, Kels. I'm proud of that one."

She reached her hand over and down, a mischievous look once more in her eyes.

"Hey, Kelly, that's not the popcorn."

"No, it's your zipper. A compliment of that magnitude deserves a reward."

"Right here? Right now?"

She chuckled.

"Now why does that sound familiar?"

Dave's eyes widened as she finally fished out her quarry.

"Whoa, holy crap, you weren't joking. I am now officially committing indecent exposure."

Kelly smiled and acted like nothing was out of the ordinary as she squeezed and massaged.

"Relax, Davey. Sit back and enjoy the movie."

He did indeed sit back, but he found it very difficult to focus on anything other than his sister's soft hand. If he hadn't already seen the movie, he would have found it impossible to follow. Eventually he broke their silence again.

"H-how far are you planning to go, Kels?"

"As far as it takes, darling."

His eyes widened again, pupils enormous in the dark room.

"S-seriously? Y-you're going to make me-"

"Shhh. I like this part."

As the movie continued, Dave found it harder and harder to sit still, focusing on keeping his breathing quiet and even, but he knew that would be impossible soon. He was gripping the armrests of his seat so hard his fingers had turned white under his black fur.

"Christ, Kelly, I'm gonna... I'm gonna..."

"Just let it happen, Davey. Just let it happen."

"Oh my God..."

At that moment, Dave arched his back and opened his mouth to let out a long, loud moan. But nobody in the theatre reacted, because nobody could hear it. At just the right moment, Kelly leaned over and kissed her date, containing his voice inside their mouths. And, just as she had hoped, it happened right as an important battle sequence started, causing the music to flare up dramatically, completely masking the shuddering cat's muted cries. They stared into each other's eyes, Kelly's full of amusement and happiness, Dave's glazed over with delirious ecstasy. When he finally sank back into his seat, breathing heavily, Kelly broke off the kiss, and quietly cleaned him up using the napkins that had come with the popcorn, the satisfaction of a job well done etched into every feature on her face. He could only tell in the loud theatre because his arm was touching her back, but she was purring almost as strongly as he was.

As they walked out of the theatre, they were the only people not talking about the movie.

"I can't believe you did that."

"I'm just full of surprises, eh Davey?"

"No shit! God, you even left it right there on the floor."

"Let the janitor get that, it's not my job."

"Wh-what if they call the cops, do a DNA check?"

"Then you'll go down in Internet history as the king of the nerds."

"I'm serious, Kels!"

"Don't be. There are three more showings tonight. That stuff will either be completely dried up or smeared away by someone's shoes by the time the janitor actually gets in there. You're fine."

They walked on in silence for a bit, then Dave turned to his companion and smiled.

"You really enjoyed that, didn't you? Making me yours in public like that."

"You'd better believe I did. I can't wait to see how you pay me back once we get home."

He laughed.

"That makes two of us. Hey, that popcorn wasn't at all filling, you wanna go get something to eat?"

"Absolutely. There's a fish and chips place down the street."

A thoughtful look appeared on Dave's face as something totally unrelated to their activities or food occurred to him.

"Hey, do you think they made Chekov a Russian dog because of Laika Morozov?"

"Oooh, I never thought of that before. I'll look it up on Wikipedia when we get back."

From there, their conversation turned to more normal things, and they sounded like any other couple in the city.

After being seated in a booth off to the side of the restaurant, the Parrishes made their orders, then sat in relative silence for a few moments. Kelly noticed Dave staring blankly off into space and spoke up.

"Penny for your thoughts."

To her surprise, he blushed.

"Uhh, do you mean the thoughts I was having right then, or any thoughts?"

She smiled widely, the tip of her tail flitting back and forth in amusement.

"Well, now I definitely mean the thoughts you were having right then."

His blush darkened.

"Umm, I was sort of thinking about... you know... how you taste."

She put on a mock-offended expression.

"Because we're in a fish restaurant?"

A look of panic entered his eyes.

"No no no! I just mean... I... Okay, I just think about that an awful lot, okay? I think about you an awful lot."

She leaned back and smirked.

"Dirty perv."

"Hey, is that any way to talk to your brother?"

Her smile near-instantly turned into a frown.

"Awww, we made it the whole day without thinking about that. Why'd you have to go and bring that up?"

"Bring what up?"

"That - that we're related."

Dave joined her in a frown.

"Kelly, do you mean you've been pretending you're not my sister all day? It's just been a coincidence that I haven't spoken like that. I'm not ashamed of what we have, what we are."

"I didn't mean it like that, Davey, it's just... I don't like to be reminded that our relationship is..."

She trailed off, and Dave helpfully tried to fill in the blank.

"Incestuous?"

She looked like she'd suddenly tasted something sour.

"Ugh, I hate that word. I was going to say 'taboo'."

"What's wrong with that word? It's accurate."

"I know, but the way I feel about you is special, it's something that makes me feel happy, makes me feel good inside. That word makes it sound like our love is something dirty that we should be ashamed of. Incest. It even sounds wrong. The fact that you're my brother has nothing to do with how I feel about you."

Dave raised an eyebrow and smirked slightly, snorting in amusement.

"Now that I don't believe."

"What?"

"Look, Kels, I love you, I love you more than anyone else in the world, and I'm absolutely sure I would love you if you weren't related to me. But I'd be lying if I said that the fact that you're my little sister doesn't... enhance the way I feel about you. 'I love you twice', remember?"

Kelly blushed but said nothing. Dave finished his thought, his smirk having evolved into a grin.

"Not to mention that it makes the sex hotter."

"Eww, Davey!"

"Oh come on, there's no way I'll believe that you don't find the fact that we're family hot while we're in bed."

"And why not?"

"Let me think... oh yeah, that's right. Because you like to call me 'big brother' while I'm inside you."

If Kelly blushed any harder she'd be lighting up. She held up her hands, defeated.

"Okay, okay, you win, I admit it. I do love you more because you're my brother, and it does make it hotter in bed. But just because what we have is - is incest, doesn't mean we're weirdos or perverts."

Dave nodded.

"And even if it does, so what? It's a free country. And Kelly? I know I just gave you a little reality check there, but I don't want you to be uncomfortable. If you don't like the word 'incest', than I won't use it."

"Thanks, Davey."

Just then, the waitress arrived with their meals, and they tucked into it, enjoying their food in silence until a rhinoceros passed by their table on his way to the washroom. Dave suddenly turned to him and said,

"Hey."

The man stopped and looked at the young cat.

"Yeah?"

Dave gestured at both himself and Kelly.

"We had sex this morning. In fact, we have sex all the time. Because we're in love."

As Kelly's eyes threatened to bug out of their sockets and her tail whipped around like an epileptic snake, the rhino gave her brother a look, and replied very sarcastically.

"...Fantastic. What do you want me to do, give you a high five?"

"No, that's alright."

The man walked off, shaking his head and wondering why he ran into crazy people every time he came to the city. Meanwhile, Kelly stared at her brother, who seemed totally nonchalant.

"Davey?"

"Yes, darling?"

"What the fuck was that!?"

She hissed it under her breath to prevent herself from screaming it out loud. Dave finally looked apologetic.

"Sorry, Kels. I've never gotten to tell anyone before, it eats me up every time I'm with Daniel."

"So you tell a stranger that 'we have sex all the time'?!"

"Hmm. It does sound stupid now that I think about it."

Kelly shook her head, unable to stay angry at him, considering nothing bad happened.

"Damn, Davey. First the movie surprise, now this? You're definitely going to have to pay me back tonight. Maybe I'll tie you to my chair again."

Dave's ears pressed back against his head and he let out an involuntary whimper.

"Sorry, Kelly."

She saw the fear in his eyes and placed her hand over his.

"It's okay, I'm kidding, I wouldn't really do that to you again, I promised, remember?"

He visibly relaxed, then checked his watch.

"What do you say we finish up here, then head home?"

"Sounds good to me, love."

And all was well between them again.

Dave had been hoping Kelly would fall asleep on the bus again, so he could feel protective and loving again, but she stayed awake this time. The fact that they spent almost the whole ride either feeling each other up or kissing made up for it. As they walked up the path to their front door, Kelly smiled.

"Today was awesome, Davey. I loved every minute of it. Almost as much as I-"

She realized she couldn't finish that sentence, in case someone overheard. For the same reason, she let go of her brother's hand, a sad look in her eyes. Suddenly Dave pulled her into a tight hug, his scent tickling her nose. He whispered in her ear.

"Me too."

That made her feel better, and she walked up and opened the door, realizing belatedly that they probably should have spaced out their returns, to avoid suspicion. She shook it off as paranoia; their parents probably wouldn't even notice -

"There you are."

Alan and Sara Parrish sat on the bottom steps of the staircase directly in front of the door.

"Hi, Mommy! Hi, Daddy! How was your day?"

Alan took off his glasses and gave her a look. He looked a lot like an older version of Dave, though he wore his hair slightly longer, and his fur was entirely black, lacking Dave's white spot, which he'd inherited from his mother's side.

"Right now I'm more interested in how your day went, Kelly. Actually, I'd just like to know where you were and what you were doing. You too, David."

Dave willed his ears to stay upright as his heartbeat sped up.

Fuck! He called me David. That means he's upset.

Kelly continued to play innocent.

"Didn't you find our notes, Daddy?"

Sara cleared her throat. Just as Dave resembled his father, Kelly resembled her mother. Although the patterns in the two Maine coons' fur were different, both seemingly random, their faces were unmistakably similar, the major difference being that Sara Parrish was blonde instead of brunette, and she wore her long hair in a ponytail instead of hanging down. Now she held up the papers Kelly had just spoken of.

"You mean these notes? Funny how you said 'our' notes instead of 'my' note. You'd almost think that you two were together today."

Kelly grabbed a hold of her tail to prevent it from swinging wildly in fear, praying to any gods that may be listening to not let their secret be discovered. Sara continued, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Odd thing about these notes. This one says that Dave went to Danny's house to help him with homework. And yet right after we got home, Danny shows up at the front door asking if he can borrow Dave's notes to finish that homework. He said he had no idea where you were, Dave."

Dave said nothing, merely watched his life flash before his eyes.

"This note, on the other hand, just says that Kelly went to go hang out with Trisha. Which would be fine and dandy if Trisha hadn't called a couple of hours ago to see if she left her hat here the last time you had a sleepover."

Alan looked at his children disapprovingly.

"I don't like it when you lie to me. And since both of your alibis were bogus, something tells me you were in on it together. And lo and behold, here you are arriving home at the same time. So are you going to tell us the truth, or do we have to ground you for the rest of the summer? Don't think we won't do it just because of your age, you're never too old to be punished by your parents."

Dave and Kelly exchanged a panicked glance. Then Dave spoke up.

"Well, you see, the truth is..."

He took a deep breath, and was about to change their lives irrevocably when an idea struck him, perfect in its simplicity.

"The truth is that Kelly and I took a bus to the city together. She wanted to see this exhibit on morphic history that just opened up at the museum, and she didn't want to go by herself."

Alan turned to his daughter.

"Is that true?"

She reached into her purse and pulled out the slightly worn complimentary map from the museum, handing it to her father and trying not to think of it as 'exhibit A'.

"Yeah. I just didn't feel safe going there alone, anything could happen."

Sara threw her hands in the air, exasperated.

"Then why didn't you just tell us that?!"

"No offense, but I didn't want to go with my parents. And we lied in the notes because we were a little embarrassed to be going together."

Alan and Sara exchanged a meaningful glance, and a long silence ensued. Finally Alan shook his head.

"Alright, fine. I understand. Just please, next time, tell us where you're going! We were really worried about you two!"

"Okay, Daddy. I'm sorry."

Dave nodded.

"I'm sorry, too."

Sara smiled for the first time since they'd gotten home.

"Now then, come on in and tell us all about the exhibit. I hope you two learned something."

And so Dave and Kelly Parrish told their parents all about what they'd learned that day. Well, not all of it, just the parts that wouldn't give them coronaries. And as they enjoyed a meaningful conversation about morphic history, they continually gave each other somewhat less significant but no less meaningful glances, eagerly imagining the things they were going to do to each other when they got a moment to themselves, and sharing one simple truth. Their first date had gone very well, even if it was a bit unorthodox. It was full of memories they would treasure for years to come. Yet even more than they enjoyed the things they had done on their first date, they enjoyed the anticipation that looking to the future brought.

After all, it can't be a first date unless it's followed by a second.
