Olivia finds herself awake earlier than usual one morning, and spends the quiet moment reflecting on how she got there.

The apartment was quiet, the morning not quite reaching the artificial den and the bird song too far off to hear. They were all laying there together, Amy and Charlotte snuggled up on either side of her, their fluffy chests rising and falling rhythmically as they slept. Olivia couldn't bear to wake them by moving, even if she was itching to get back to her latest piece. It was just too soothing to watch her werewolf lovers sleep while the first rays of sunlight started to creep through the blinds.

As she lay there, her mind drifted back to when they'd first met, two years ago. She was still a sophomore at the local college then, not sure where she was going or what she really wanted to do with her life. It had been a stressful time for her, and the one thing she always turned to to unwind from that was the local game store in town.

The shop itself was a bizarre hybrid, a pair of spaces in a shopping outlet that had opted to break down their dividing wall. On one side, the latest video games lined the walls, while retro games glittered like lost treasure in the glass cases along the counter. The other side of the shop meanwhile boasted a massive collection of comic paraphernalia, while all manner of tabletop games lined the shelves. Between the two shops, in that dividing area, rows of tables had been set up for the locals to sit down and hang out, playing games and holding tournaments that kept the shop open well into the night. It was like nothing else in the city, and just being there with her friends to geek out for a night always helped relax her.

It was at one of these geek out nights that she first met Amy, fresh off her shift and ready to rip into some fictional baddies. Having just turned 21 at the time, Olivia had still found herself intimidated at first by the younger woman when she sat down to join the game. She seemed so confident, and shone with a kind of fiery passion for the game that was infectious to the whole group. Before the first hour had passed, Olivia found herself laughing along with the new girl as the party fended off a bar brawl with nothing more than some raw fish and a lot of bluffing. Their ended up having to be quieted down, so quickly had their excitement grown, and Olivia remembered going home that night feeling happier than she had in a long while.

Over the next few months, she ran into Amy several nights a week, usually still dressed in her work uniform and ready for war. Looking back, she supposed it was ironic that her girlfriend always played the werewolf characters, and played them so unbelievably well. She looked forward to their time hanging out so much that she eventually got the younger girl's number, arranging for them to have coffee that weekend. Imagine her surprise when she showed up to find Amy in the company of another woman, clearly a few years older than them both. Anxious at first, she had almost considered backing out, though the sharp eyes of the older woman killed that thought as she gestured over to where she was fretting. She found herself glad for it though, it had been a wonderful first date with Amy and her girlfriend Charlotte. Shocking, sure. She had never been involved with a polyamorous couple before. But they were so warm and nice, it felt just like they had always been hanging out together. After that date, Olivia made a point to hang out more often.

She was shaken out of her reverie by Amy's stirring, the familiar sounds of the auburn werewolf waking like music to her ears. Had it really been three year already? Time certainly had a way of getting away from her sometimes. She leaned in to press a warm kiss to Amy's muzzle, making the sleepy canine murmur happily.

"Good morning, sleepy head. And here I thought you were gonna doze all day." She giggled as Amy pounced her in response, nuzzling into her neck with playful kisses, their antics quickly rousing a grumpy growl from their other bedmate.

"Do you two really need to be wrestling this early in the morning?" she grumbled, rising just long enough to pin them both down like one oversized pillow, prompting them both to giggle and struggle under the elder werewolf's hold. Three years, and Olivia still felt as warm and happy and lucky as she had that first night. A warm thought for a good morning.
