After a long morning at work, Amy gets some annoying but not totally unexpected news. Seems her girlfriend can't keep from causing mischief!

It had been a hectic day for Amy. Her day had started much earlier than normal, the announcement of the long awaited Toggle Console landing her squarely on the schedule at 6:15am. A tall cup of coffee and a handful of encouraging texts from her partners was all that got her through the morning as wave after wave of excited gamers filed in and out to place their preorders. She supposed she couldn't blame them - she had put a deposit down herself as soon as she clocked in. The day seemed to fly by, time a blur of scanned reward cards and excited chatting until she was finally pulled off the register at 2:30 to go home.

She was just thinking of grabbing a late lunch, having skipped her break to get off sooner, when her phone started to jingle. She gave an audible groan as she looked at the screen - Animal Control was calling. She'd bet her new Toggle she knew what this was about.

"Yes, hello?" Amy did her best to keep her voice polite - they were just doing their job, after all.

"Yes, Miss Kamis? We're just calling to let you know we have a friend here waiting for you..." There was a chuckle, prying a wry smile from Amy as well. "We were starting to wonder if we'd run into her again, Cherry is just the sweetest pup. She seems eager as always to get out of here though..."

"Yes, sorry. She must have snuck out after me this morning. I'll be right down, thank you Kim." The line clicked off and she gave a low series of swears, not having the funds today to bail out her 'dog'. Her nimble fingers dialed the number from memory as she climbed into her old truck, putting the phone on speaker as she cranked the engine.

"Hey, Olivia? Guess who's in the pound again."

The ride back from the Mountainside Animal Shelter was a mix of emotions. Amy was sitting in the back seat with her overgrown puppy of a girlfriend, trying her best to look aggravated while the big goof kept playfully whining at her, nuzzling into her thighs and belly as if she really were just a massive wolf-dog hybrid. Olivia, meanwhile, was doing her best not to crack up behind the wheel, a fresh burst of laughter cutting Amy off every few minutes.

"Charlotte, did you really need to run the mailman off again? I do like having things delivered to the door instead of, you know, the curb or something."

"Its not my fault the guy startled me. The nerve of him, knocking on the door in the middle of the day."

"Charlotte, you chased him all the way out of the apartment complex," Olivia chimed in, barely stifling another laugh. "You're lucky Kim knows you're harmless, you big goof."

"And didn't we have to bail you out last week for running around the dog park with Chris and pranking people?" Amy's addition only left Olivia cracking up again, bad enough that she almost had to pull over.

"Oh, come on. You know you love my pranks. Shoulda seen their faces when they thought a dog was talking to them." Charlotte gave a canine equivalent of a laugh as Any ruffled her silver fur, pulling her head up to look her eye to eye. She opened her mouth to say something only to be left sputtering as the crafty werewolf gave her a big, wet kiss, licking her face shamelessly and barking for approval.

"You big dork!" Amy laughed, snuggling the big dog against her. "You know you're in the doghouse, right?"

"Isn't any house we live in technically a dog house?" Olivia chimed in, earning a chorus of both laughter and boos from the back seat.
