I am zxzx24 pronounced Z X Z X 24 I was human once but now i'm something very different very very different... ,but I suppose I should start from the beginning.

I lived on a planet called mercurum with my wife Cynthia in a moderately sized house in a large city I was rich, incredibly so. As the only mage in the city I was in high demand. Healing headaches lost limbs and frivolous requests such as love potions and larger.... you get the idea.

*ring* *ring* i'm coming already sheesh... "yes?" "Please help help plea-STOP!" What's wrong? My husband is dying!

"What is wrong with him?"

"I don't know he just passed out suddenly"

"Alright take me to him"

As soon as I saw him I knew there was nothing anyone could do the air pollution had already destroyed his immune system and bone marrow.

"I'm sorry there's nothing I can do for him he's to far gone the most I can do is let him die painlessly" I tried to sooth her.

"But but your supposed to be able to do anything" she wailed

"But I can't and there's nothing anyone can do" I spoke shakily

Another victim to the smog plight

I changed when looking for the cure the horrible horrible cure.

"Sigh" my wife walked into the room her purple fur glistening in the window lit room and silk hourglass dress "and so I suppose another victim falls to the fog" she said tiredly her tail swaying back and forth slowly across the floor ears swiveling in my general direction as I spoke

"yes" I said quietly

"There is nothing you can do"

"I know do you think that makes it easier" I whispered hoarsely

"thousands dying and yet more people line up at our door step day and night over and over again"

The fog was slowly killing the world most of the east is wiped out suburbia the most polluted city is just a urbs omortuus or a city of dead we had sucked our planet dry of natural resources and now it was killing us in revenge.

I studied an old text but I think child's drawing, was more appropriate it was a picture of a stick figure standing next to a ball floating in mid air with a string of Latin words saying when clouds bring death and man has killed the earth speak this spell

"... Could this be it that simple?" "only one way to know" ... "resumo terra ut quis is eram rememdium is of quis ails is servo is servo vox liquidus in vita resumo!"

Then the world shook and the thunder cracked. A black funnel of the smog descended from the sky and swept everything into its self as it neared our house it tore through it like it was a cardboard box as it devoured our house I raced towards my bedroom and ran straight into Cynthia I embraced her for what I feared for would be the last time in my now very short life.

I woke up many seconds or was it days later with my wife breathing deeply in my arms on a rough bed of gray dust and... ash? "What have I done" I wondered aloud. We were sitting in a crater looking up into the night sky but it seemed strange the stars were wrong as I looked closer I noticed a slight shift in the air around us it seemed to shrink and expand in a steady rhythm.

Then I really looked around I stood and gaped in horror we were on the moon of it was almost exactly like they showed in documentary's of astronaughts mercurum. Where I believe the planet should have been was... nothing I had never seen anything like it. Had I destroyed a whole planet? "How could I have-NO survive first morn later" I looked down around me and saw a small rock embedded in the crater or had it made the crater? I crouched down and picked it up but I could not see it quite clearly so I held it up for light and I screamed in such agony I dropped it and fell to my knees in pain when I recovered enough to form a reasonable thought I was lying on back next to Cynthia I made a mental note of the fact the crater was barley 6 by 6 feet the pain and tired ness from casting such as massive spell and the searing pain in my legs had worn me out and I fell into a deep sleep.

...

...

...

And time passed I don't know how much. My wife still slept but I noticed the shifting of air was a movement of well... the small rocks atmosphere... knowing I had picked it up led me to believe that when I lifted it to high my legs must have been exposed to the vacuum of space. Cynthia slept on I could not wake her even with all the spells I knew I experimented and learned that the rock not super dense or anything of the sort amazingly I found no need for food or water I could not disirn why thought neither did Cynthia. I presume her sleep may have had something to do with the spell but I could not remember the words.

When the rock first moved I thought it must have been my eyes deceiving me I thought heck cabin fever why not moon fever? But it moved again and it rose about a foot I now realized I was either mad or that rock was moving via an unknown source "Hello" I asked not expecting an answer but it came closer hovering half a foot from my nose I laughed aloud heartily after days of almost no life except me and Cynthia and startled it dropped a inch in the air and raised shakily, then I noticed the strangest sensation around my head and feet it felt as if they were being both pulled and pushed by a weak but swift current. In opposite directions oh well. I noticed dust rising around us as well but it was black and I recognized it as iron. Oh I guess this rock must have a magnetic field. A thought struck me then I had a compass with me for god knows why so I took it out smoothed a patch of the gray moon dust and placed it there the needle spun around lazily for a short while but then it slowly pointed at me...

I remembered the spell then in English no less

To recover earth when anyone this was cure this of earth ails this to preserve this to preserve limpid upon life to recover

bad translation...

I caught the rough translation as heal mercurum and recover its life. mercurum must have been to far gone to save and so the spell moved the energy into me. I now had a magnetic field... and the funny feeling I had had must have been the rock's field mingling with my own. Then the realization hit me like a blow from a cannon I had stolen mercurum's life. I had killed everyone and most likely damned the love of my life to an eternal slumber.
