A.N.- All right, chapter 2.

Eevee awoke from his slumber to be greeted by the rising sun. The sky still had that orange, foggy glow to it that said it was early morning. He watched the starly that were sitting on some power lines outside the window, thankful that they were not loud. Eevee yawned and stretched in the comfort of his bed. He was feeling a lot better than he did a few days ago. Nurse Joy even said it was okay for him to leave today. He got up, jumped down from the bed and ran a few laps around the room to make sure he was feeling a hundred percent. After the little run, eevee hopped back on the bed to rest. While he was resting, he found himself thinking about the night he told Eric his decision.

Flashback

"So, what's you answer?" Eevee looked at Eric and gave him nod. Eric couldn't help but smile at this. "Alright!" he said happily. "I promise, you will not regret this. By the way, my name is Eric." Eevee and aipom introduced themselves as well, although it was not really needed. Eric made his way to the chair and talked to both of them, mostly about his hometown. He talked to them for about thirty minutes, until a small beeping sound was coming from his wrist. Aipom and eevee jumped a little in surprise. "Oh, sorry about that." Eric raised his hand and presented his watch to them. "Man, is it that time already?" he said turning the alarm off. It was six o'clock. He knew if he wasn't home soon, his mom would start to worry. Eric got up from his chair. "I was hoping I could stay longer, but I have to go home now. I'll see you tomorrow okay?" Eevee nodded, giving Eric the okay to go. Eric left the room.

"You know, if you going to live with him, I won't have anyone to play with in the forest." said aipom lying back down on her back next to eevee.

"What are you talking about? You have friends other than me in the forest."

"Yeah, but they're not as fun as you are. I think I'll come with you, just so you don't get bored of playing with the human." Eevee knew this was a lie. He knew that she was curious about what it would be like living with a human. He also knew that she didn't quite trust him enough to let him go by himself.

"Thanks, I was a little worried that I would have to go by myself." he said trying to hold back the sarcasm in his voice. Despite his efforts, aipom still heard the bit of sarcasm.

"Hey, you're not worried at all. You were just gonna leave with him and leave me behind." aipom said sounding a little upset.

"And you wanted to come with me just so I don't get bored? I know you better than that."

"Fine, you got me. I just wanted to make sure he checks out." said aipom. Satisfied with her answer, eevee let out a big yawn. He suddenly felt really sleepy. Aipom looked at eevees' sleepy face and decided to let him get some rest.

"I think I'll head home as well. My folks will start to worry if I'm not home soon" Aipom rolled over toward eevee and gave him a hug around his neck. "Get well soon." she said ending the embrace. Aipom jumped off the bed and made her way to the door. Nurse Joy came in the room and almost bumped into aipom.

"Oh, I'm sorry." she says looking at aipom. "I take it you're leaving now?" Aipom nodded to the nurse and proceeded to the exit. Nurse Joy looked over to eevee and said with a smile "I looked over your charts and it looks like you'll be out of here in a few days." Eevee smiled at the news. "Well until then, you'll have to rest up. Good night." Nurse Joy turned off the lights and closed the door. Eevee rolled over to get in a more comfortable position and soon after fell asleep.

End flashback

Over the next few days, Eric has been coming to the center to visit him. He told eevee that he to convince

his mom to let him stay at the house. That was until aipom told Eric, the best she could, that she wanted to stay with him as well. Eric was taken aback by the news, but decided to give it a shot since they were friends. He eventually persuades his mom and she allows him to keep both eevee and aipom at the house, but says that if he brings any more pokemon home, he would have to get a job. Eric laughed, but his mom said that she was serious.

An hour has passed since eevee got up and he was staring to feel a little hungry. *Grooowl* "Man, I'm hungry. When the food gonna get here?" eevee said to himself. As if on cue, the door opened and nurse Joy came in with a bowl of pokemon food. It wasn't like eating berries in the forest like he was used to, but it was a nice substitute.

"Breakfast is here. Come and eat up." She said with the same smile she always had on her

face. eevee got up and walked to the end of the bed where she had placed the food. He thanked her and started eating. A few minutes into the meal, he heard the door open. He looked up and saw aipom coming in.

"Well, today's the big day." she said jumping onto the bed next to eevee.

"Yeah, I can't wait."

"Me neither." said aipom while stealing some of eevees' food.

"Hey, get your own food." eevee said a little upset.

"I had a light breakfast and the walk over here isn't exactly a short one." she responded. "Besides, I brought your favorite berries with me as a sort of celebration."

"Celebration for what?" he asked

"For getting out of here of course." she said with a grin. Aipom jumped off the bed and left the room. She came back in a second later holding a big, balled up leaf. She jumped back on the bed opened the leaf. Inside were grepa berries. Aipom handed one to eevee.

"You didn't have to do this" eevee said feeling a little bad for aipom for going through the trouble of getting the berries.

"Don't worry about it. Just enjoy your berry and be glad that you getting out of here today." She said as she took a bite out of a berry. Eevee felt a little better and took a bite out of a berry. His mouth was instantly filled with a sweet and tangy flavor that sent his taste buds to another world.

"I can never get enough of these." he said taking another bite. They sat on the bed eating and talking together. Eventually, they got down to the last grepa berry. "You can have it. You went through the trouble of gathering them." said eevee generously.

"You're lying through your teeth. I know you want that berry. Just go ahead and take it." she said pushing the berry towards eevee.

"No, you take it." he said pushing it back.

"No, you."

"How about we split it then?" he suggested.

She took a moment to think about his suggestion. "Fine, we'll split it." With that said they split the berry and ate it. Eric came in the door.

"Are you guys ready to go?" he asked excitedly. They replied with a nod and jumped off the bed. The group made their way to the front desk, where nurse Joy was working on the computer.

"Already leaving?" she asked looking up from the screen.

"Yes ma'am" Eric responded.

"All right, just fill out these forms and you can leave." she said handing him some papers.

"Oh, how will you be paying? Cash or card?" Eric reached in his pocket and pulled out a trainers card. It wasn't his, it was his moms' from when she was a trainer. Her name's Akira and she's retired now, but she still has some money on it and gave it to Eric in case of an emergency. Nurse Joy took the card and swiped through a machine.

"Everything checks out fine." she said a few moments later. "AllI need are the papers." Eric took a seat and filled out all the paperwork. This took him about ten minutes. After he finished, got up and

handed the papers to nurse Joy. "Thank you." she said with that same, warm smile. "Have a nice day. Make sure you take good care of that eevee."

"Don't worry Nurse Joy, I'll be sure to take good care of him." Eric made his way out the front doors with eevee and aipom following right beside him.

When they got outside, there were few people walking around in the street. Eric lead the small pokemon to his bike. It was a blue and recently had a basket put on the front to carry eevee and aipom on it. He was extremely thankful he got this on his birthday last year or they would have had a long way to walk. Sandgem town was a small town with a few houses and a couple of nearby shops. The most exciting part of this town was the fact that Professor Rowan, a pokemon professor, lived there. He would be the person who would give young trainers their first pokemon. They were given a Turtwig, a Chimchar, or a Piplup. After they were given the pokemon of their choosing, they were handed a pokedex. The group walked past the professors' lab. Eric took a glance at the lab as they were walking by. "I can't wait to get my first pokemon." he said under his breath.

After about nearly two hours worth of biking, the group finally made it to Twin Leaf town. It was a small, quiet town. All the residents knew each other, since there were a few families living there. Most of them kept pokemon in their house as pets. Even at Erics' house, his mom kept her Ninetails around. She named her Ninetails Ember. She entered Ember in pokemon contests back when she wanted to try her hand at coordinating, but she quit after a while, saying it got too stressful for her.

After a few more minutes of biking, they finally made it to the house. It was a decent two-story house. The front door was a dark green and there was a window on right side of the door. Eric pulled out a key from his pocket and unlocked the door. "Well, this is it." he said while opening the door.

Eevee and aipom were a little hesitant with going inside, but they slowly followed behind. The inside wasn't too bad. There was a living room on the left as soon as you walk in and across from that, there was the kitchen. The stairs to the second floor were a good ten feet from the front door, right next to the hallway that lead to the back of the house. Once they were fully inside, Eric went inside the living room and sat down on the couch. Eevee and aipom followed his example and sat right next to him. Eric looked on the table and saw a piece of folded up paper. "Must be a note from mom." he thought as he picked up the note.

He unfolded the note and read it: "Dear Eric, I went to go to Floaroma town to look for some plants for the

backyard. I took Ember with me. There's some food in the fridge in case you get hungry. See you later on today. Love mom." Eric looked up from reading the note to see aipom and eevee staring at him.

"So, would you guys like to see where you're going to be sleeping?" he asked, not knowing what to really do right now. They both gave him nod and jumped off the couch to follow him. Eric stood up and led the two little pokemon up the stairs. He stopped at the top and pointed his finger at the door on the right saying

"This is my moms' room. You guys can't go in there unless someone gives you permission, got it?"

Eevee and aipom gave him a reassuring nod. Eric stopped in front of a door shortly after coming from the stairs. "This is my room. You guys will be sleeping in here." He opened the door and motioned them inside. The room was pretty spacious. There was a bed on the opposite wall from the door with bookshelves filled with pokemon stuff on both sides. On the right wall, there was a door leading to the bathroom. On the left wall was a computer and another bed. It was smaller than the one between the bookshelves.

"This is where you'll be sleeping." Eric said pointing at the smaller bed. Aipom walked over to the bed and jumped on.

"Wow, this one's better than the bed you were sleeping in. It's so soft and comfortable." Eevee jumped on the bed and joined her.

"Wow, you're right. This is way better than that other bed." Eevee and aipom spent the next couple of minutes getting comfortable on their new bed. While they were doing that, Eric decided to get comfortable as well and lied down on his bed. Almost immediately, Eric accidentally fell asleep, leaving eevee and aipom by themselves. It didn't take long for them to notice that Eric had fallen asleep.

"Hey, eevee, let's go exploring. I want to see what else is in this place." she said while sliding off the bed.

Eevee also wanted to know what else was in his new home, so he agreed and followed aipom. The first place they went was the bathroom in Eric's room. It looked just like any other bathroom: a sink, toilet, mirror, and tub. But to them, it was like a room filled with mystery. Aipom hopped on the sink and began examining his toothbrush and hair-care products. Eevee on the other hand was examining the toilet. Since he had never seen one before, he thought it was just a large bowl filled with water. He was tempted to drink from it, but suddenly, a loud sound came from the bowl, followed by a rush of water coming from all sides of the bowl. Eevee jumped back in surprise, landing on his rear. He waited until the noise had stopped before moving again.

"Sorry about that." Eevee looked on top of the toilet to see aipom with the same surprised look he had. "I just wanted to see what this thing did." Eevee looked to where she was pointing at and saw a small lever on the back of the toilet.

"Is that what made this thing so loud?" he asked, still a little shaken up.

"Yeah, let's not play with this thing anymore." Eevee agreed and made his way to the tub. He jumped inside and walked around it a little bit.

"Hey, what do you think this thing does?" Aipom was standing at the edge of the tub pointing at a small handle in the wall.

"I don't know, but I hope it doesn't do what that other thing did." Aipom cautiously turned the handle and warm water slowly came out of the faucet. Eevee stood in the tub watching the warm water fill it up. He let the water fill the tub about halfway before turning the water off. Aipom joined eevee in the tub. She sat down with her back against the side of the tub.

"This water feels sooo good." she said sounding content. Eevee agreed. The warm water felt nice against his fur. He slowly sat down and relaxed his body in the warm, soothing water. They were in the tub for thirty minutes before Eric came in.

"I see you've already made yourselves at home." Eevee and aipom looked toward the door and saw Eric standing there. "Whenever you two get out, I want you to come downstairs." With that said, he left them alone. Eevee and aipom looked at each other with puzzling looks.

"What do you think he wants?" asked eevee.

"I don't know. But what I do know, is while I'm in here, I might as well get clean." Aipom started to clean herself off. Eevee agreed and did the same. It's been a while since he had a good bath and he wasn't feeling so fresh.

Eventually, they got out of the tub and shook themselves dry. Doing this did nothing much to aipoms' fur since it was short, but eevees' fur was a little longer, especially around his neck, so after shaking dry, it looked like he was wearing a spiky fur collar with a really bushy tail. Aipom laughed at eevee a little, but eevee paid no attention to this, since it happened every time he shook himself off after taking a bath. They made their way downstairs and saw Eric standing at the front door.

"You two ready? We're going to see my friend." Eevee and aipom looked at Eric with confusing looks. Then they followed Eric out the door.

The town had more people outside than when they first arrived. Everyone seemed to be busy with something they had to do. They walked a short distance away from Eric's house and arrived at another house. It was

similar to Erics in structure, but there were some differences in appearance.

The house was painted white with a red door in the front. There were two windows on both the door, showing two different rooms. The front yard was decorated with rose bushes and flowers. It was a very beautiful house.

They approached the front door. Eric knocked on it a little louder than he should have, almost sounding like someone was trying too break in. There was a long pause before someone finally answered the door. A small boy who looked like he was about the same age as Eric opened the door. He wore black shorts that reached his knees and a white t-shirt. His hair was cut short and it was a light blond color.

"Hey, how's it going?" the young boy said to Eric.

"Good so far." Eric responded " These two are the pokemon I told you about. Guys, this is my best friend Jerry." Jerry looked down at eevee and aipom.

"You mean these little guys saved your butt from a few angry beedrill? I'm surprised they would even consider fighting outnumbered, since they're so young." Eevee and aipom looked at each other, not knowing whether to feel praised or insulted by what he said. "Well, no fun staying around here. Let's go to the beach."

"Come on, hurry up! You're going too slow!" Jerry shouted a good distance away from them.

"The beach isn't going anywhere! Why don't you slow down and walk with us?!" Eric shouted back.

"If I walk as slow as you, the sun will get there before we do!" he shouted back.

Eric sighed to himself thinking "That guy has too much energy." Eevee and aipom were walking along side him thinking the same thing. The beach they were headed to was a secret one. It was just a couple miles west of New Bark town. Eric and Jerry would go there every few days or so in the summer. There's never anyone there since it was small and no one else knows about it.

Every time they went, Jerry's mom would make them take Kit, their shinx, with them. She had a very curious

personality, which is why she's not very cautious around new people and pokemon as most would be. This sometimes gets her into trouble. She was almost killed once for disturbing a staraptors nest, apparently wanting to see what birds looked like before they hatched. The angry staraptor grabbed her, flew high in the sky and dropped her. Luckily, she was saved by Jerry, who was passing by. She landed on his head. After recovering from a near concussion, Jerry rushed her to the pokemon center in Sandgem town. Apparently, she wasn't as injured as he thought because less than thirty minutes after being treated, she was up and about like nothing happened. So to prevent the little pokemon from being killed by another pokémon, he took her into his home.

"So, you guys been here long?" Kit asked eevee and aipom.

"No, we just got here this morning." replied eevee.

"Where'd you come from?" she asked eagerly.

"The forest behind the lake." aipom answered.

"Ooo, are there lots of others pokemon there? Like big ones and small ones?"

"Uh, yeah, there are some big ones." answered eevee.

"How old are guys?" Aipom shot her a "wtf" look. Eevee saw this and quickly answered

"I'm, uh, eight months old and she's ten months."

"Wow, you're way older than me. I'm only three months old. Wait, if you guys lived in the forest, does that mean you lived in trees?" Aipom gave her a really irritated look and said

"Didn't you ever live in a forest?!"

"No. I was raised in a place with lots and lots flowers. They were real pretty to look at and they smelled nice

too, but they didn't taste as good as they smelled." Eevee laughed a little to himself. Aipom didn't see the amusement in what she said

"Is she stupid?" she asked herself. It was then she realized that there wasn't a place with lots of flowers near the forest. "Where's the place with lots of flowers anyway?" aipom asked Kit.

"Well, if we were headed there now, we wouldn't get there for a couple of days." Eevee and aipom looked at each other in disbelief.

"Aren't your parents worried about you?" asked eevee.

"Not anymore. They found me here a couple days after I got lost coming home from-"

"You got lost?!" eevee and aipom said together, cutting her off.

"Yeah, I know, and I have a great sense of direction too."

"It's not that great if you got lost." aipom said under her breath.

"Anyway," Kit continued "I was going home after playing with my friends, then I saw a bunch of beautiflies flying by, so I followed them to see where they were going. Then I saw a couple of pachirisu playing tag, so I played with them. Then I saw a geodude rolling by-"

"Please...stop." aipom said cutting her off. "I don't think I want to know the rest. Let's just...enjoy the rest of the walk...in silence." Eevee couldn't agree more. It wasn't that he didn't like Kit, it was just a lot of...you know. That "wow" feeling.

The group continued the rest of the trip in silence. It took about forty-five minutes for them to get to the beach. Once they got there, eevee and aipom looked in amazement at what they saw. Crystal blue waters were crashing against the shore, shells in the sparkling sand, and wingull flying around nearby. This was nothing like the lake. This place had a view. Eric and Jerry made their way to the shore with nothing but their trunks on followed by Kit.

"What are you guys waiting for, an invitation? Come on." Kit said running to the water. Eevee and aipom joined them in the water. They spend the whole day playing in the water, building sand castles, and playing games.

After the long day at the beach, the group headed home. It was getting late. By the time they got back to town, the sun had already set. They stopped at Jerry's house first, since it was one of the first houses you would see if you were coming into town. "Well, it's been a day." Jerry said

"See ya tomorrow." Eric said as he kept on walking toward his home.

"Later." said Jerry as he went inside his house. Eric looked down at aipom and eevee.

"Did you two have fun today?" They both gave him a hug on his leg and a smile to show him that they had a great time. Eric smiled back at them. He was glad that he could make their first day with him a really fun one. It took a couple minutes to reach the house. He noticed that the lights were turned on and figured that his mom must have come home. He opened the door and a very delicious smell filled his nose, as well as eevees' and aipoms'. "Mom, I'm home!" Eric yelled into the house as they walked in.

A few moments later, his mom came from the kitchen wearing dark blue track pants and a white shirt. She had long black hair that was smooth and it ran all the way down her back. She looked at Eric with a warm smile. "It's about time you came home. I was wondering if you were thinking about living at the beach."

"I would, but then I would have to cook my own dinner." Eric joked. "So what's for dinner anyway? It smells really good."

"Roast with mashed potatoes and peas. It'll be ready little while, so go upstairs and take a bath. It should be ready by the time you come back down" Eric smiled with the thought of eating his moms roast in his head.

"All right mom. We'll be back in a bit. " Eric motioned eevee and aipom to follow him as he made his way past his mom and up the stairs to his bathroom. Eevee and aipom followed him. They were half-down the hall to Eric's room before eevee heard a noise behind him. He turned around and saw what looked like cream-colored tails enter Akiras' room. Aipom noticed that eevee wasn't walking with her and turned around.

"What are you looking at?" she asked.

"Something just went in that room over there."

"Okay, go see what it was." Eevee started to look nervous.

"You know we can't go in there without permission." Aipom let out a sigh and started thinking about the situation.

"How about we just take our baths seperately to give you some time to sneak in real quick. Come on, it's not like he's gonna kick you out for going in a room." She was right and he felt a little silly for acting like that in front of her.

"Thanks. I don't know what came over me, acting like a little kid." He turned to go into the room.

"Hey, Eevee..." Before he could turn back around, he felt a paw grab and play with his tenders. He immediately jumped away and covered himself before turning to face aipom with a beet-red face. "... got you again."

Eevee made his way to the slightly door and poked his little head inside. It was a nice room, bigger than Erics. The bed was bigger than Erics and it had nicer sheets. The dresser had a mirror on it so that you could see how good you looked before you went out.(hehehe) He went inside the room cautiously, not wanting to be discovered by whoever went inside. He faintly heard the sound of water running and quietly followed it. It was coming from the bathroom that was next to her room. A little steam could be seen coming from the bathroom. He walked over to the side of the door and poked his head inside, keeping the rest of his body hidden from view. The bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom and everything in it was clean.

"Why isn't Erics' room like this?" eevee thought. The water stopped and he faintly saw something get in the tub. He snuck inside trying to use the steam as a cover, but since his fur is a dark brown, compared to his neck fur, it was really pointless to try. He approached the tub. "Hello?"

No one answered. He hopped on the edge of the tub so that he could talk to whoever was in it, but he didn't see anyone. The tub was a Jacuzzi and the jets were making lots of bubbles, making it a little difficult to see anything in the water. A bit confused, he looked around the bathroom one more time, then back at the tub again. He looked closer at the steaming, bubbling tub of water. Suddenly, a fox-like figure rose from the water. Startled, eevee lost his footing and slipped in the water. Eevee panicked, mostly because of how hot the water was than what came out of it. He tried to get out, but the water was too high for him to put his legs on the bottom and jump out. Then, the fox creature picked him up with its maw and placed him on the floor next to the bathtub.

Eevee laid on his belly riding out the after burn, then he looked up to see a beautiful Ninetails looking at him with concern. "Are you okay?" asked the Ninetails.

"Other than this burning feeling, I'm great." he said forcing a smile. "Who are you?"

"I should be asking you that; sneaking in here while a lady is taking her bath. Are you some kind of pervert?" asked the Ninetails. Eevees' face turned a bright red.

"N-n-no, that's not why I came in here! I just...wanted to know...who was in here." He looked around the bathroom for something else to look at other than the Ninetails.

"If that's all you wanted to know, then my name is Ember." Eevee looked back at her.

"Nice to meet you." Just then, they heard Eric calling out to eevee. "I gotta go, so I'll see you later." Eevee turned to leave, but he stopped and looked back at Ember. He's had a question on his mind since he came in the bathroom. "Uh, why is it so steamy in here?" Ember tilted her head to the side as she quickly thought of the answer.

"Come over here." Eevee walked back to the tub and hopped on the edge, making sure he won't lose his footing this time. He looked over across the tub to where she was pointing at and saw a square hole on the other side of the tub. "This hole is filled with hot coals. When you put some water on it," Ember lifted one of her wet paws and shook it over the coals, causing little bits of steam to rise in the air. "..you get steam." Eevee looked in amazement.

"Whoa, that's cool, but shouldn't the coals burn through the floor?"

"Normally they would, but there's some material inside and around the hole that keeps it from burning the house down. Is there anything else you need to know?" She asked while lifting one of her tails from the water and slowly stroked it down his cheek. Eevees' face turned red.

"N-no, nothing else." He stepped back, quickly forgetting that he was on the edge of a bathtub, he fell, landing on his rear. He recovered and ran out of the bathroom. Ember laughed to herself.

"Little boys are so cute when they're young."

Eevee ran out of the room and immediately bumped into Eric.

"I thought I told you not to go in there without permission. Dinner's almost ready and you still need a bath." Eric picked eevee up and carried him to his bathroom. On the way, eevee saw aipom come out of Erics room looking clean, refreshed. Aipom looked up at eevee as they went by.

"Well, Who was in there?"

"A pretty Ninetails named Ember." he said before he disappeared with Eric into his room for a bath.
