#24 of Commissions by me

The story to go with FA: shadowfox014 commission :)

Enjoy!

Travis was pooped; another long shoot and he was thankful to be home that day; ready to enjoy his weekend away as his vacation time was coming up. As he rested there on his couch though, he had a problem; he didn't know where to go for his vacation, despite having the time to think it over. It wasn't exactly an easy choice for him, considering he had so many options on the table and the funds to burn for it. Still, it mulled over in his mind as he just laid in his couch; perhaps he'll come up with something.

*KNOCK KNOCK*

Travis jolted up in surprise; he wasn't expecting a knock, unless it was just the post dropping off packages. It was near the holiday season after all. He got up, feeling the stiffness in his legs, and walked on over to the door, slowly gaining his energy back. His feet were still hurting as he walked; he just wanted to rest for the day, considering he had all weekend and all of next week to prep for. Still, he couldn't just leave said person waiting. Once he reached the door and opened up, he saw the Postal service truck leaving, causing him to look down and some mail by his doorstep. Was kind of strange since he had a mailbox and all, but I guess they just felt prompted to leave them at his doorstep this holiday season.

He grabbed what mail there was and closed the door promptly, walking slowly back to the couch as he looked at what arrived. Most of it was junk; typical credit card companies and donation services asking for applications or information to apply to. Some letters were from family, probably wishing him happy holidays since he hadn't decided yet if he were to visit them, and there was a letter from a friend of his. This surprised him; it was rather unexpected and just seems to make him smile. As he sat back down on his sofa, he laid most of the mail on the table in front of him and opened up the letter, wanting to see what his friend wrote up for him.

The letter seemed to be addressed from his buddy Daniel, and there was a letter and postcard inside of it. The Letter addressed as followed:

Dear Travis,

It's your buddy Daniel! I know we haven't had a chance to hang out in a while, so I wanted to invite you to this Island Paradise I had heard about recently; seems like it would be a lot of fun too. Apparently, it's all Mario themed or something; the postcard makes it out to be a castle of sorts, but who knows! I looked up and it it's more of a hotel and water resort too since it's on an island; I think it would make for a perfect getaway. So, what do you say? Feel free to let me know as soon as possible when you decide; it would be nice to go with a friend for the holidays!

Your buddy, Daniel

"That's really nice of him! Lemme take a look at the postcard." He set the letter down and grabbed the postcard from the envelope and took a good look at it; it had a decoration of a castle by the beachside, and a Koopa with light blue hear and a spiky shell in the front. He seemed quite friendly too and it made Travis smile, though he wasn't aware of how the postcard was glowing and how he started to glow too.

His face started growing these dark yellow scales, slowly but surely as he set the held on to the post card, setting the letter down and heading to his room to relax. Once he grabbed the door handle, that's when he noticed more of the scales on his hand. "What the!? What's up with my hand?" It didn't stop there; he felt his shirt a bit looser now, shorts undergoing a similar feeling as he was freaking out. He didn't register it quickly, but then it hit him; he was shrinking in size, and nothing was fitting, save for his shoes. A strange feeling happened around his feet as his socks just...disappeared. His shoes then started shifting in material as they lost their sense of fabric and became more like boots; taking on a distinctive grey hue like his hat.

As his clothes started getting loose, his shorts fell, leaving him in his underwear as he sheepishly grabbed his pants to cover himself while the scales spread like rapid fire. Under his shirt, his chest was forming scutes of a lighter tone while his back felt stiff. He brought a hand over his shoulder to feel something hard and growing on his back, bringing his attention find a mirror and see what it was. That's when he saw it; a shell as grey as his boots and hat.

Travis was freaking out now; his clothes ill-fitting and he was some sort of turtle! His shock only made worse when his face creaked into a beak of sorts, and his eyes growing larger. Inside his hat, his own hair was shrinking into his head as his hat even slipped down to cover his eyes. Inside his own boots, his toes merged and fused into three toed claw-like feet. Even some of his fingers fused, leaving him with just four short fingers; thankfully he can still grip stuff, but he was much shorter now and finished changing, at least physically.

Travis wasn't sure what just happened, the post card on the floor now since he had dropped it in his shock. It couldn't have been that, could it? "This can't be happening; what am I!?" He looked at the postcard again after grabbing it; something grabbed his attention.

"What's my king doing there? Wait, king? Why did I say that?" Travis was very confused now, he sees the royal koopa there and immediately thought of his king. His head now hurt as he brought a hand to his head; the memories of his human life were fading, and quickly. "No, I'm not some turtle dude! I'm a human...am I?" His own memories were morphing into something else; being in servitude of his king Norman for a while now; being his top commander too. His head hurt for a while now, until he limped. Travis sat there, being still, until he looked at the post card again:

"Wait a minute, what am I doing? My king needs me to help protect his castle! I know we're inviting guests, but I have a strong duty to look after him as well as keep away the troublemakers. I'm coming, my king!" He got up, slipped out of the weird human wardrobe he was in and rant out the door; slamming it shut. People would call his house later to find his clothes on the floor and him missing, though they would never realize he was on an island having a good time looking after park visitors and his king, and Norman couldn't be happier to have Travis around.
