World in Conflict Ch 5 U-2
Pt 5 is here!
This is part 5! Its been more than half a year! Since the first/chapter.
November 1st 1961 a few days since the russian nuclear bomb test rocked the world a U-2 spy plane jets off from Alaska, the engines roar in the early morning hours as the plane makes a almost verticle ascension to 90,000 feet. The after burn could be seen by a near by towns folk. As the U-2 jets its way twoard 90,000 feet the sky turns from dark blue to jet black. As it makes its way toward the soviet test site. Armed with nothing but a high powerd camera.
Arriving at the test site...
Command: this is mother hen, to blackjack 6 take the pictures and get the hell out of there! We just recived word of new soviet sam missle installations!
Luke: I copy that mother hen!
Luke:(to himself) well this shouldn't be to hard
With that said luke blasted the engines over the soviet testing ground and took the pictures and jetted off toward Alaska. A few minutes away from the Alaskan border a blimp popped up on his radar monitor.
Luke: shit!
Then the whole screen light up with about 10 blips with the SAM lock warning alarm going off.
Luke: are you kidding me?!
Luke then blasted the engines to max, and then trying to swerve around trying to throw off the missles lock, to some extent it worked taking out all but three missles. Suddenly out of the the corner of his eye three mig 21s, the chrome colored bodys with red stars on the ailerons, complete with s-8 missles and several R-77 air to air missles, the attack squadron broke off to his left in a attack formation gained altitude in preperation for a dive bomb style attack.
Luke: dammit! This is gonna be a bad day for me..
As the mig 21s closed in from above luke did a barrel roll to slow down his speed allowing for the mig 21s to overshoot him.
Luke: got you now!
Confused the mig 21 pilots reluctanly slowed down allowing for luke to pass closely infront of the planes. Allowing the sams to lock onto the migs and BOOM! a fire ball erupted from the position of the migs. Luke now in alaskan air space prepared for landing.
Luke: thank god that worked...
November 2nd 1961
Location: Pentagon
Time 9:55 am
In the intellegence sector monitoring soviet activity. A analyst carefully looks over U-2 photos. The photos titled surveillance of soviet testing zone. When his superior walks in.
Mark: Ryan I need an update on those testing zones! And troop movements in that area!
Ryan (analyst): Sir we have an unusual amount of soviet troop movements regarding the "site" but the thing that confuses me is we have a high energy barrier or "field" in this general area, we also have detected them moving Tu-95 pieces into this field and simply disappearing and reappearing. Adding to that we have also on the infared immages detected heat emminating from the same area. Also we have unusual ammounts of sand comming from the energy barrier...
Mark: why would you bring up sand?
Ryan: because we believe that the soviets found another world. In the messages we intercepted they are reporting they sythesized a portal by blowing up the Tzar bomba. Also in that area they also request dessert camo in there supply messages. And just think why would Russians need dessert camo in the artic?
Mark: Did you find any other infomation regarding the creation of such "portals" ?
Ryan: We found some old documents from 1945 from Germany that we originally thought were theoretical. They had documents describing a machine with in berlin of tremendous power and able to open the gates to new worlds. And in some old German messages that spoke of a whole new world that would preserve the nazis.
Ryan handed Mark the documents. And Mark eyes widened.
Mark: we must take military action Now!
48hrs later in west Berlin
A small group of (5 ) US marines weres sucesful in finding the machine and powered it with the pre existing infastucture. Scientists and other military personnel soon arived. Now they were tasked to scout out the other side of the portal.
Jackson (the leader): alright lets move out! Hurrah!
All 5 enter in the portal and find themselves in the dead of night near a river with a bridge about 100 meter further down with slight brush cover infront of them and on the other side of the slow moving river a large village with street torches, a few figues walking around and several tall wheat fields covering the area. Beyond that there was a few mountain ranges, while behind them there us a gently sloping hill side coverd in numerous brush and trees the only other thing that was there was a wide dirt path snaking its way over the hill side.
Jackson : we should make our way toward the river but keep low.
As the 5 of them make their way up river to the bridge the portal starts sparking and with a loud crackling sound jackson and some of the others turn around as they hear the scientist yell
GET BACK HERE THE PORTALS GOING TO-
BOOM! A loud explosion erupts from the area where the portal once was, and the sound echos though out the plains. About 10-20 figures run out from the village to the location armed with torches, carbine rifles and melee weapons.
Jackson : oh shit...
Jackson : everyone get under the wooden bridge !
Max: theres not enough time !
Carter: we dont have time for this!
Michel: guys we got alot of hostles comming!
Samuel: you guy go! I'll draw their attention!
Jackson : NO!
Samuel runs up the sandy river bank and fires his m16 and yells hey! Over here!
A group run after him fireing off shots from riffles and shooting crossbow bolts.
Just as Samuel drew their attention Jackson and his team make it under the bridge unseen. As a second group walked across the bridge thats when Jackson got a good look at them. They were unusual creatures he thought. Until the last one in the second group stopped. It sniffed the air and paused, suddenly jumped down from the bridge with its spear in hand Jacksons heart raced as he got an adrenline rush. He kicked the spear out of its hand and grabed its snout and wrestled with the sergal, to put it in a head lock. Causing it to make a weird muffled whining noise.
Jackson: calm down. I wont kill you. Just stay quiet and follow my every command you want to stay alive...
The sergal calmed down immediately after that was said and obliged. Later about 15 minutes later to be exact, the first group returned, some were badly injured as the marines heard their limping and cries of agony and pain as they went back to their village. Soon after Jackson, Max, Carter, Michel and the sergal sliped off in to the night and headed up past the brush coverd hillside.
