_ "Knock, knock, knock!" _

Druff opened the front door, with an expectant scowl on his face, but was surprised to find the hallway empty.

"Hmph..."

The tiger peered curiously on either side of the hall but could not see anyone. His ears did not pick the noise of running paws that would've been a sure sign of escaping truants.

_"_Grrrr," grumbled the tiger unhappily.

"Hey!"

Druff's ears perked. He heard a small but steady voice coming from somewhere...below.

The tiger's muzzle tipped down. He could see the tips of remarkably small ears before someone caramel-colored looked up to him and waved a similarly tiny paw.

"Hey there mister!"

Druff's eyebrows perked in puzzlement.

"And who are you?" the tiger boomed.

"Just a friendly Atimist!" the little fox hopped up and down while speaking up to the towering figure of the tiger in front of him.

"Who?" Druff asked.

The little fox giggled.

"Atimist!" the fox announced. "Ati! I'm your neighbour!"

Druff's tail flowed curiously behind him while he stared down at the small fuzzy thing who reached barely to his knee when it came to height.

"I didn't know I have any neighbours like you!"

The fox hopped on his footpaws again and giggled.

"I'm easy to miss!" the fox stated.

"Hmmm..." Druff rubbed his chin while the fox gawked up to him with his relatively large eyes. "Can I help you somehow?"

"YES!" said the fox eagerly. "I'M BRINGING YOU YOUR CHRISTMAS CARD, NEIGHBOR!"

Druff chuffed.

"Well that is awfully kind of you," he said, "although I don't see any cards with you."

The fox looked coyly at his toes and chuckled.

"Ooooh silly meeeee!"

The fox bounced away and left a very puzzled big tiger on the doorway to wonder just what kind of furs he shared his housing with. He had genuinely not met the fox before, and was quite sure that he would've encountered such a curious inhabitant of the house.

"Uh! Hmmmh!"

He heard diminutive noises of struggle. Druff looked about and saw that the fox was back, although this time hauling behind him a Christmas card that was enormous when compared to the fox. The card was as tall as he was himself, and the fox was pulling it from one edge along the floor.

"Hmppph!"

"What on Earth..." rumbled the tiger.

"JUST A LITTLE CARD I MADE FOR YOU, NEIGHBOR!"

You can call me Druff..." the tiger mused.

The fox appeared very happy with his card, once he reached the tiger and flopped the card down to the floor. He let out a little huff and a giggle after this huge effort, and presented his card happily and proudly for the tiger who was to be its recipient.

"Okay, Druff!" yelled Atimist. "Look, look!"

The fox bounced on one corner of the card. It looked like it had been hand-made, with colorful glitter paint used to decorate it with playful shapes, plus quite a few shiny paw prints as well. The main point was a comical drawing of a little fox looking suspiciously like Atimist himself, wearing a red Santa hat and holding a big wrapped present in extended paws. The text was written in a wobbly lettering and read "MEWWY XMAS 2016!"

Druff's ears flicked curiously. The card was unlike anything he had seen in a very long time, and the fur gifting it to him was equally unique as well.

"I made it just for you!" the fox hopped happily from one paw to another.

"How...ah...how very kind," Druff said, surprised yet not displeased. The fox's joy at giving the card to him seemed genuine, and who was he to slight such feelings?

"YES!"

The fox looked expectantly at the tiger, whom kept staring at the gaudy card still lying on the floor next to his own feet. Druff saw the fox's expression, and knew that action was expected.

"Ah...it is lovely," the tiger said. "Maybe...maybe I could offer you a coffee or tea...soda...?"

"Do you happen to have any Oreos?" the fox asked hopefully.

Druff's ears flickered in extra surprise.

"Ah...I just might..." he mused.

"Wheee!"

The fox ran across the card and between Druff's own footpaws to enter into his apartment.

"Hey-oh!"

It was already too late.

The caramel fox was inside his apartment and going about, by the sounds of it. Druff picked the card from the floor and followed the mysterious Atimist into his rooms.

"Hmmmm..." mused the tiger.

"LOVE YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE!"

It became immediately apparently to Druff, once he reached the living room, that his strange guest was smitten by the tiger's Christmas tree. He had gotten it earlier and decorated it sumptuously with baubles, tinsel, lights and every garish golden and silver and red thing he found to cover the branches with. Atimist's tail wagged while he went around the large tree. He even dipped under some of the lowermost branches and between the large wrapped gift boxes laid under the tree to complete the image.

"I can tell..." the tiger mused.

The little fox popped out from under the tree.

"It's pretty!" the fox announced. "And biiiiiig..."

"I image you say that a lot," Druff said.

Atimist giggled.

"Yes!" the fox squeaked. "Comes with the size!"

"I bet."

"Now how'bout those Oreos?" the fox sniffed the air as if searching for the kitchen by scent.

"I'm not really sure I have any, you know," Druff replied.

Atimist clapped his paws together.

"We can find out!"

"Hmm...okay..."

Druff put the homemade card down to the little table by the sofa and then concentrated on the hyperactive fox. Despite his eagerness for a cuppa, he seemed quite smitten by the Christmas tree as well. He'd even walked close to a bauble hanging from one of the lowest branches and admired his reflection on its shiny surface on the light made by the electric candle.

"Pretty..." the fox giggled. He made a little pirouette to look at his tail from the odd red reflection, distorted by the shape of the bauble.

The tiger ruffled his modest mane and wondered just what he had gotten himself into.

"I'm glad you like it," he said.

"Hmmmm..." the fox giggled," it's so big and shiny..."

The tiger's brain conjured up an evil idea.

"So maybe you should be part of it."

The fox's ears perked curiously. It was too late for him when he saw the huge paw looming over him. He froze in place just as the big padded fingers caught him by his hips and lifted him up, carefully.

"Wow!"

The fox squirmed in the tiger's big paw. He struggled, though it looked like a rather feeble effort, especially once he was lifted several feet into the air by the tiger.

"Heeeeeelp!" the fox giggled.

Druff placed the fox next to an electric candle on a branch and dropped him onto its needdle-covered embrance.

"How about you play ornament while I...I find something for you to drink?" the tiger suggested.

Ati brushed paws through his fur to straighten it all up before he peered over at the tiger who was now almost at his eye level. He was beaming, and wiggled his footpaws over the edge of the branch he now sat on.

"Oooooooooh this is fun!" the fox mused. "Will you serve me some tea and OREOS here please?"

Druff shook his head in bemusement.

"Wheeeee....!!"
