Journey to Another World 4

Ch. 15

Though the beach was our true destination, I knew we had to make a pit-stop and battle/face this trainer. Never before had I truly thought that a Pokemon could die, but the proof of that act was lying in a grave not far behind us. It was also a shock to think of how a trainer could actually take a battle that far. Once we got through the little fence maze, we sped up and tried to track down this trainer.

After a little while we finally saw a couple of trainers crying over the bodies of some of their Pokemon that lay cradled in their laps. "It would seem that that little boy we helped isn't the only one to loose their Pokemon today. We need to catch up to this person and put a stop to this."

"I could not agree more." Jenavee said as she quickened her pace along with the rest of the girls to match mine.

It wasn't until we were within sight of some kinds of buildings did I finally see two trainers finishing up their battle. The first trainer looked a lot like the first one I'd seen coming down from Veilstone city, but looked a lot older. The other trainer I knew in almost an instant as the one I'd battled so long ago with Jenavee when she was still a Ralts. Though his name was never given, a title of ex-ace trainer was firmly plastered on my mind for him, though it would definitely have to be changed to something disgusting as the nature of what this little shit was doing to these trainers Pokemon.

Once the battle was over between the Girafarig from the first trainer and a Blaziken from the ex-ace trainer, the first trainer quickly recalled his Pokemon and quickly ran back the way we'd come. "Tsk. Why is it that nobody here can stand up to us." Said the ex-ace trainer to his large fire bird. "Ever since that one trainer with his Ralts, we haven't lost a match." When he said Ralts, the bird's wrist flames quickly leapt up and looked to consume the whole arm in flame, then the bird let out a yell that would curl your hair. "Your right. We should've never lost to that trainer and his weak Pokemon. If only he were here right now." I saw him clench his fist then start to shake it in anger. "I know we'd tare him to little itty bitty bits."

"Well then." I said which got both of them to turn around and face us. "I guess the gods must have a sense of irony, as I was hoping to meet up with you as well. Though for entirely opposite reasons." I told him as my girls quickly took up positions in front of me. Jenavee in the front, Rena beside her on the left, Kit on Rena's back left side, then Undine on Jenavee's back right, finally it was me standing within the horse shoe.

"Well, well, well. It would seem that your right. I was always hoping that I'd get the chance to pay you back for that humiliation back then." He said as his Blaziken slowly walked in front of him then yells to the sky. Just then the big red bird quickly charged us but I was even more surprised when it was Rena who lunged forward to met the bird in combat.

To say the least I was quite surprised. I never would have thought that Rena would have taken on her old trainer let alone his Blaziken, but when I was about to call her back, Jenavee turned to look over her shoulder at me and shook her head. ‘I know what your thinking but you must let Rena do this. If not, she will be able to get over what happened to her while being his Pokemon.'

I would have responded to what she said but I had a battle to coach (Though that wouldn't stop me from talking with her about this new development later). As I turned my attention back to the field I saw that Rena (though shaking) was holding her own against several Shadow Claw attacks from the oversized red bird, as she used her Bone Rush to block several blows. A smirk slowly spread across my face, ‘It looks like she's doing quite well' I thought, but I knew that it wouldn't last.

Just then the bird lashed out with it's arm and grabbed Rena's wrist, then quickly spun around, flung her face first into the dirt, then quickly jumped into the air above the fallen Lucario. "And now for the finishing touch. Blaze, use Flamethrower, maximum power." With that, the battle turned from your average one to a life or death struggle.

I knew that a blast from that point blank range would cause some serious damage. "Rena, use Quick Attack to get out of there!" I yelled. Fortunately she must have been expecting this as she got her feet under her and shoved off the ground, though she wasn't fast enough as the bird let out such a large attack that it singed the end of Rena's tail. I knew I had to turn this fight around so I quickly though, then a smirk appeared on my face again. "Bad move pal." ‘Rena, I need you to keep up the quick attack and rebound off one of those trees and hit that bird with you Bone Rush.'

Rena rolled a little after she got away from the attack, then crouched into a ball at the base of a nearby tree, launched herself up to about half the tree's trunk, pushed off it's trunk still using her quick attack, then quickly sped through the air with her blue bone staff ready. As she neared the bird she brought the staff around and raised it over her head. "This is for all the times you hit me when I was down!" She yelled as she brought the bone down in an ax like motion.

The bird took the hit right on top of it's head and fell quite quickly to the ground, beak first. I watched as she hit the bird and continued to watch as she remained suspended in the air as the bird hit and a large cloud of dust was kicked up, then a spark hit in the back of my brain. Though before I could call out my next move that I wanted her to use, the bird came flying out of the dirt cloud with it's right claw pulled back into a fist. Before I could call out an attack or a strategy, Rena placed both her paws together and started to form a Aura Sphere.

She didn't have time to form a proper attack as the birds fist hit Rena. The hit landed somewhere that I couldn't really see, but I knew it must have been a tender area as she dropped the Aura Sphere. Though the attack was dropped, fate must have still wanted her to smack the bird, as the sphere landed on top of the birds bruised head. Once the two attacks hit, they threw both the Pokemon in opposite directions to land in, inappropriate positions (laying on their backs, with their bodies almost in the fetal position, and backsides sticking strait up in the air). Both were quick to jump back to their feet and into fighting positions.

They both just stood there, but it was Rena who made the first move. I thought that she was going to attack the Blaziken, but she fell to her knees and clutched at her lower stomach with both her paws. My gaze was quickly drawn over to the Blaziken as it was making some sort of clucking noise, which I realized a second later was it's way of laughing. "Jenavee, it hurts. I got hit...there." Rena said

"No, not there. Not now." I looked over and saw that Jenavee had a look on her face that no man would stand up to. I was even cringing as Jenavee slowly walked over to me, grabbed my shirt, and pulled me towards her. "Switch Rena out with me. NOW!" I was so shocked by her brunt refusal of anything else, that I simply nodded. Jenavee let my shirt go, walked out, helped Rena off the field, gave her to me which I took her with open arms, and then faced the Blaziken. "How dare you do that to my sister when she is..." She stopped in mid sentence, looked over her shoulder at me, then turned to look back at the Blaziken. "In that...kind of condition."

‘Wait, what?' I looked down at Rena, as I slowly lowered her to the ground. She was still clutching at her lower stomach, which I began to worry. "Did Team Galactic do something to you while you were their prisoner?" I asked her, but Rena only clenched at her lower stomach in pain and then tears started to build up in her eyes.

"It has been a long time since we last battled. I wonder if you still remember how I defeated you last time." She tapped her chin while a smirk was spreading across her face. "The last time we fought, I was just a small Ralts. I wonder how many trees I can throw you through now that I am in my final evolutionary form." She said as she slowly started walking towards the Blaziken. It was even more intimidating as both her hands were starting to crackle with electricity.

I looked from Jenavee to see that the Blaziken was slowly starting to back towards the other trainer. I slowly rose to my feet and looked over at him. "You know, before my Gardevoir tears your Blaziken to pieces for hurting her sister and my Lucario. I'd like to know the name of the person she defeated. Especially since I never did catch you name the last time we fought."

"Do you really think that you Pokemon can stand up against my all powerful Blaziken." He said as he started laughing, then abruptly stopped as he could see that I wasn't laughing. "Though I don't see the harm. Remember the name, Barry, the man who's going to defeat you. BLAZIKEN, GET IN THERE AND USE SHADOW CLAW AND TEAR THAT GARDEVOIR TO PIECES, BEFORE I DO IT TO YOU!!!"

That seemed to shock it, as the bird jumped, looked over it's shoulder at him, then quickly charged Jenavee. It was like the last time they fought as Jenavee enveloped the Blaziken in a purple aura, then when the bird got close enough she stepped out of the way, spun it around and then threw it into the dirt. The Blaziken jumped up from the dirt, shook itself to get rid of some of the dirt in it's feathers, then turned and launched a Flamethrower attack at Jenavee.

Jenavee must not have been expecting this as she was engulfed in the flames. The attack lasted for only a minute, but if felt a lot longer to me as I was so concerned for her. Eventually the flames died and Jenavee was revealed. Smoke slowly rose from several parts of her dress as well as other places, while the rest of her body was covered in scorch marks. She turned her head to the side and coughed up a few puffs of smoke. "Your going to pay for that. You stupid bird." Just then an aura slowly enveloped herself and I knew that she was using Calm Mind on a whole new level.

Once the aura died down she slowly placed her hands together and electricity started to crackle all over them. She threw her hands forward and released the stored up electricity, causing the Blaziken to be hit by a Thunderbolt attack that was twice as powerful. Once the attack was done, the bird slowly fell to it's knees, paralyzed. Though that didn't seem to be enough as the Blaziken slowly rose shakily to it's feet, while electricity jumped all over it's body. The bird let out another quick yell and launched itself towards Jenavee.

About half way there, the bird brought it's feet to bare and it's feet were quickly engulfed in flames. ‘It must be so enraged by being hit by that last attack, that it must have forgotten what happened the last time it tried this.' And sure enough, a purple aura surrounded the bird, then Jenavee made it circle around her still in mid flight, then was flung back the way it'd come. Effectively throwing it to the trees that were nearby, and through several more. I didn't know how many trees it went through, but was shocked to see it slowly raise to it's clawed feet, then slowly/shakingly walked out of the woods.

The bird was on it's last legs as it placed a hand against the last tree to steady itself. With the last amount of it's strength, it launched it's last Flamethrower which once again surprised Jenavee as she was engulfed again, but the attack only lasted half a second and the flames finally died down leaving a slightly more scorched Gardevoir in it's wake. The other trainer cures several times, but finally ended up just recalling his Blaziken to it's ball then quickly calling out his second.

The second Pokemon was a little more frightening than the second. From the light that erupted from the Pokeball, came a Weavile. Like most Weavile's this one had a crown of red feathers on the top of it's head, a gold like coin in the middle of it's forehead, two red feather like ears, three fingered white claws that ended at the wrists, a red collar ring of feathers around it's neck, two red feathers instead of a tail, three claws for toes, and the rest of it's body covered in a dark bluish/purple color. The Pokemon was kneeling with it's head down, but slowly rose to it's feet, raised up it's head, then slowly opened it's menacing eyes.

The three foot Pokemon didn't waste any time as it quickly dashed towards Jenavee, claws behind it in a ready position for a devastating slash or some other claw like attack. Jenavee must have been reading my worry as she quickly levitated out of the way as the Weavile sped by underneath to unleash a x shaped claw attack. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say that that attack was an X-Scissor. A bug type attack. If that'd hit, Jenavee would be in a world of hurt right now."

‘No kidding. I think I will stay up here, out of it's reach with that attack.' Jenavee sent back to me.

The thought might have been nice if it worked, but the trainer must have already known about how to counter a flying Pokemon. "What are you waiting for, Weavile?! Hurry up and use Icy Wind." The trainer yelled out.

The Weavile skidded to a stop near me, winked at me as it slowly turned around, then pulled back it's head and took in a deep breath. "Jenavee watch out!" I yelled, but it was all for not as she was up in the air, and didn't have any real way of avoiding the wind. As the Weavile jerked forward, it released a gust of air that was so cold that it froze several pieces of water in the air and flung them at Jenavee.

Unable to avoid the attack, Jenavee curled herself into a ball and allowed the attack to hit. When the Weavile finally let up on the attack, large amounts of ice were covering Jenavee's body. I was about to yell to her to find out if she was ok when she slowly uncurled herself and let out a long delighted sigh. "Ah, that felt wonderful. Thank you for curing my burns Weavile. They were starting to sting a bit there." With that she slowly levitated over and hovered over the trees that the Blaziken had been tossed into. "Now allow me to return the favor."

Jenavee quickly thrust out her whole body into a spread eagle, then her aura quickly lashed out like a pulse. The pulse quickly engulfed the trees and settled on several of the leaves which were brought up and hovered around her. I knew what was coming so quickly lunged out of the way so that I could get some distance from the close Dark/Ice type Pokemon. Once I was clear (and thoroughly covered in dirt as I'd slid home like a batter trying to steal home plate), Jenavee launched her attack which was met with another Icy Wind from the Weavile. Though the attacks met in the middle, it was Jenavee's that was able to push through and hit with double the ferocity as the leaves had frozen from the Weavile's attack.

I wonder why this was so, but realized that Jenavee had already used her Calm Mind move and that must have been what allowed her to use a little more power to push through the Weavile's attack. When I was back up on my feet, I looked over the small Pokemon and could see that it was covered in scars, which some were fresh and other quite old. ‘This Pokemon must have been put through the ringer by it's trainer to carry so many scars.' Just then the Weavile slowly fell forward and lay face first in the dirt.

As we both thought the fight was over between her and the Weavile, Jenavee slowly levitated back to the ground walked back over to my side to await the other trainers third choice. Unfortunately that wasn't the case as when Jenavee got close enough to the downed Weavile, it leapt up and delivered a point blank X-Scissor to her chest. Jenavee was hit backwards and landed about mid field laying on her back, clutching at her chest.

"As you once said, ‘If an opponent is either faster or stronger than you. Use that against them." Barry said as I looked up from Jenavee and over to him, to see him smile then start to laugh. "Finish off that guys Gardevoir, Weavile. Use another X-Scissor, point blank while it's still recovering from the last one." The Weavile nodded then slowly put it's arms behind it, then rushed forward.

I knew that another attack like that at point blank would no doubt put Jenavee in the hospital. So I pulled out her ball and was about to recall her when I felt a breeze blow past me. When I turned to see where it'd come from, I quickly turned back due to the sound of a screeching sound. What I saw quite astounded me, Rena had evidently recovered enough from being hit so low, and was now using her Bone Rush to repeatedly hit the cringing Weavile.

I didn't want to be disqualified from the match, (though I doubt it would be by how pissed off Barry looked at the moment). So I recalled Jenavee to her ball and watched as Rena continued to use her Bone Rush to wail on the Weavile. Even though the Weavile was fairly quick on it's clawed feet, it couldn't land a decent hit as Rena's dreadlocks vibrated telling her where her opponent was at any given moment. "Do you really think I was going to sit by and watch you put my sister into the critical ward of the Pokemon center?!" She yelled as she swung her bone again at the agile Weavile who was now starting to dodge Rena's attacks will more success.

"Where in the world did you get such a strong Lucario." Barry called out over the sounds of the ongoing battle.

I didn't answer him as my attention was still on the battle. I was still shocked that both Rena and Jenavee had been battling primarily without my help. ‘These girls have come a long way. I'll defiantly have to reward them for their efforts once this is all over.' Eventually both our Pokemon separated and returned to their respective sides of the field to catch their breath.

"HAY!" Barry yelled, getting my attention. "I ASKED YOU A QUESTION." He yelled again, but without the ferocity of the first. To which I just smirked.

"I doubt that your going to believe me when I tell you this, but Rena there used to be your Riolu." I told him as his eyes went comically wide with shocked realization. "That's right. I was the one who rescued her that night, raised her, and made her part of my family." Just then the sound of battle resumed as the Weavile used it's Icy Wind to meet Rena's Aura Sphere in an explosion mid field. The battle went on for a little while longer as the two seemed to be pretty well matched, though eventually the damage that'd been given to the Weavile from Jenavee had finally taken it's toll and the Weavile crashed to the floor.

Barry pulled out the Weavile's ball and recalled it. "Damn you. How could you loose to that runt?" He asked rhetorically, but that didn't stop him from squeezing the ball then slapping it with the other hand which shrank the ball, then he returned it to his belt. "I'll deal with you later." He said as he pulled off his third choice. "Why don't we make this interesting."

I only stared at him, without giving him an answer. "How about, if you beat my last Pokemon, I'll let you keep it."

"And if I loose?" I asked him as a deep smile crept across his lips.

"Then you return that Lucario to me." He said with a laugh as he pointed the ball towards us.

This shocked me quite to the core. ‘This is the second time someone's tried to make such a deal with me.' "What are you? Touched in the..." I didn't get the chance to finish what I was going to say as he threw out the ball. The ball released the Pokemon in the usual white light, but what came out was anything but light.

The Pokemon released, released a long drawn out wail that quickly pierced my ears and caused me to have a massive headache. ‘Wait a minute...I know that wail.' I thought as I covered both my ears with my hands then looked up to see a Mismagius materializing out of the white light that had somehow turned slightly purple. I knew that this battle would be a long and hard one for Rena, so I looked over to see if she could continue, but saw that she was clutching at her lower stomach again.

‘Damn! Not know.' I thought as I quickly recalled her to her ball before Barry could order his ghost Pokemon to attack Rena.

"What the hell! I never said that you could change out Pokemon!" Barry yelled, then quickly started stomping around.

"Man this headache is killing me." I said as I looked back at my last two girls. I didn't need to say a thing as Undine shook her head but Kit nodded up to me. "Thanks girl. I'm putting my trust all in you Kit. Make me proud." I told her as I knelt down and scratched her behind her upturned ears. I scratched her for a moment but stopped when she shook off my hand then gave me a lick on the hand and a happy bark.

As she quickly jumped out to take the field as I stood back up and shouted out to her. "Just remember what Jenavee did to that last Mismagius, then use your Dark Pulse on it."

"Wait a minute..." Barry said. "Not only have I lost the advantage of having my ghost type fight a fighting type, but your Ninetails knows a dark type attack like Dark Pulse?" His shoulders slumped and his head drooped. "This is so unfair. Now you've got the advantage." He said as he began to stomp around. "NO...NO...NO! I will not accept this."

Just then he surprised me yet again as he quickly pulled out a dagger from somewhere behind him and quickly started running around the two Pokemon's battle field. Effectively leaving his Mismagius to it's own devices and concentrate on using that dagger on me. I laughed as I reached back and grasped the hilt of my dagger, but stopped when another powerful pulse from the headache hit my head.

When I looked up, my left eye saw Barry quickly closing the gap between us while my right saw Kit using a Flamethrower on the purple ghost. ‘Well, at least she's holding her own. Now I've got to worry about myself.' I thought as I was finally able to pull out the dagger. The next several minute were a blur to me as I was either trying to defend myself against this crazed Pokemon fanatic which was cutting me up, or trying to fend off the headache which left me wide open when the pulses hit.

What I failed to notice was the battle that was going on between Kit and the Mismagius. Just as I'd instructed her, she was using her Flamethrower to push the Mismagius to the ground then abruptly stopped right before she used her Dark Pulse attack. This gave the Mismagius the opportunity to close in and use an attack but stopped in shock as well. The two just stared at each other until they both smiled, pointed at each other with either cloth or paw, then laughed in a startled realization kind of way.

(Back to the fight between Barry and Donovin) It didn't take long before my forearms, chest, and many other parts of my body were covered in open cuts and gashes from his blade. Eventually it was Undine who finally made Barry back off as she brought her massive tail down to separate us, then moved in front of me with her tail raised as if to slap him. Just then we all turn at the sound of a deep growl, as well as a some kind of wailing sound.

Barry and I turned to look over to where the battle between Kit and the Mismagius was supposed to be going on, to see that both had stopped battling, and staring at Barry with the look of ‘Oh now your going to get it' on their faces. "What the hell do you think your doing, you stupid ghost?!" He said in an obvious angry tone. "Keep battling that Ninetails while I finish things over here."

Just then we both got a surprise as Kit launched a wide shot Flamethrower, but as the shot was, ‘wide' it only pushed him away from me. "What the h... HAY WHAT ARE YOU DOING MISMAGIUS!!!" He said as his Mismagius quickly moved in and removed a ball from his belt, which surprised us both. The surprised just kept on coming as the Mismagius threw the ball to Kit who caught it out of the air with her muzzle. "HAY!!! GIVE THAT BACK!!!" He yelled as he advanced towards Kit but stopped when she let out a menacing growl and the Mismagius moved in front of her.

I fell to my knees as the headache and the loss of blood was starting to take it's toll on my body. ‘What in the world is going on here. Guess we'll find out pretty soon.' I thought as I watched on as Kit slowly lowered the ball to the ground and turned around. ‘What? Did she just want to play fetch or something?' But was proven so wrong as her tails solidified into one large silver tail/mass, then was quickly brought down and crushed/destroyed the ball with a loud shattering sound. That's when the whole thing between Kit's Flamethrower, the Mismagius stealing the ball, and Kit's tail crushing the ball made sense. ‘If a Pokemon's ball is destroyed, it no longer is truly bound to it's trainer. Kit just freed that Mismagius from Barry's control.'

Kit slowly lifted her tail and revealed the destroyed ball for all to see. The silver glow from her tail slowly left her tails as they separated, turned her nose up with a huff, then began to kick dirt onto the ball as if it were something disgusting, then practically pranced on over and took up her position in front of me with the Mismagius close behind, then gave Barry a deep menacing growl.

Barry was just as shocked as I was, as the two of us continued to look from the destroyed ball to Kit then back again. "WHAT THE HELL!!! Your Ninetails just destroyed my Mismagius's ball." Just then Kit started to growl with flames slowly licking up her muzzle and the Mismagius was taking in a deep breath to use it's Astonish attack on him.

"Damn you. Damn you to hell." He said as he turned back towards Veilstone city. "This isn't over...not by a long shot." He yelled over his shoulder as he ran back the way we'd come.

"Well that was certainly anticlimactic, would you not agree girls." Undine said as she looked down at Kit and the Mismagius. Both the girls looked up at her and nodded.

"Damn...This headache is going to be a problem if it continues." The girls turn around and look over to me. My arms are crisscrossed in font of my face in an x shape with the dagger loosely held upside-down in my right hand. Then looking down, a pool of blood has started to form underneath me from the gashes all over my body. I'm only able to stand on my shaky feet for only a moment more before I fall down to my knees then backwards onto my back.

Almost instantly after I've fallen to my back, the girls quickly surround me and start fretting. As they are trying to decide on what to do, they fail to see a person sneak up behind them. "Would you all calm down. We can't help him here, so we need to get him to a hospital as quickly as possible."

All three girls slowly look up from me and over to the mysterious person. The girls aren't able to make out who it is due to the sunlight shinning behind him, but for some reason they know that this person is the only one who can actually help me.

I slowly turn my head to look over at the person with my one open eye, as the other one is squeezed shut in pain. "Wait...a...minute. Your..." I'm unable to finish what I've said as the loss of blood has finally taken it's toll and I pass out.
