Diversia

A/N: Thank you for taking the time to read the first chapter on my long on going story, many anthropomorphic creatures will be featured in these tales and there will be many story lines, but this is the main one, I hope to create a web of different story's and spin offs using this one idea ?

Please leave a comment telling me what you thought of first chapter, story wise, I know I'm not the best at grammar and story structure, maybe if it takes off I'll get myself an editor.

Thank you! Please enjoy :D

Chapter One - False Peace

Once, there was a land where all Anthromals (Anthropomorphic Animals) lived together in peace and harmony, but although there was peace there was not acceptance, nor was there trust.

The different species rulers were bitter toward each other, and henceforth, created barriers between their people, love that was accepted thousands of years ago was rejected in these times.

The kingdoms and clans were at the brink of war, all that was needed was something to tip them over the edge, something to break the current false peace and create an excuse for mindless violence and war.

In the kingdom of the Royal lion pride, rulers King Leo the 3rd and his Queen, Sara had just had their first born child, a son named Jock, the future king of the lion prides.

King Leo looked upon his royal son with utmost pride and regality, his glorious orange mane flowed in the breeze, grazing against his golden crown embedded with a single lion head ruby.

"My son shall be the greatest king of them all, he will finally bring peace to these lands, by leading us into war and ruling over them all" the king prophesied, looking into his sons bright blue orbs with his own jade green eyes.

"Fear and blood, does peace not make, only false alliances and eventual betrayal" his Queen Sara stated to him, shielding the young prince away from his fathers praising gaze, replacing it with her own crystal coloured orbs.

"My dear to have peace, there must be war and fear, the people won't follow him if they do not fear him" the king relayed to his wife, furrowing his ginger eyebrows and making violent gestures with his enormous paws.

"My love, the people will follow a leader whom they love and respect and know respects them back" she told him, gazing at him whilst tucking her long purple hair behind her large, white furry ear and rocking the young prince into a blissful sleep.

"I rule our three prides with fear and they would never disobey me" the king stated proudly, looking out onto his dry Savannah lands and raising his paw out toward where the other prides territory lie.

The southern pride, governed by Sooka, the kings brother, was just to the south of the royal pride territory and led under the laws created by the king. The northern pride however, whos territory lied just to the right of the southern pride, followed more ancient traditional practices rather than laws, this pride was governed by the queen's 3 brothers Grun, Gatsu and Tuni.

"My brother's may fear you, but they do not respect you and would betray you the second you turn your back to them" the queen told him sternly, gazing up at her handsome husband, who was standing with his back to cliff rock, the edge of their territory, his long orange mane blended with the setting sun behind him, lighting up the orange freckles on his nose against his light cream fur; his silver chest plates, crotch guard and arm gauntlets also glistened in the setting sunlight, orange beams radiating off the metal amour, whilst his cream furred orange tipped tail flicked about proudly.

"Let us not discuss politics now my love, we have a perfect child here whom does not wish to hear such things" he replied, walking over to his wife and lovingly brushed his sons light brown fur and Tufts of orange mane.

"You're right my king, I apologize" she apologized, gazing with motherly pride down at her beautiful son, taking in all that she had made and blessed him with.

"I know one things for sure" she started, looking up at king Leo with a warm smile.

"What's that my Queen?" he asked staring down at her questioningly, but with a proud and happy smirk, snaking an arm round her shoulders.

"He's going to be much more handsome than his daddy" she teased, looking at him with a daring smirk and vexing eyes.

The king just furrowed his large orange brows at her, but let out a large bellowing laugh; after which he gently kissed both his loved ones on the forehead, smiling with pride at his newly formed family.

Over the other side of the Savannah was the wailing forest, a thick and dense forest with hundreds of trees and foliage, the perfect home for the wolf pack clan, whom were celebrating a birth of their own.

Alpha's Alto and Crystal had just given birth to their second born child, a female named Luna.

Her fur was thick, fluffy and white, with two pink nose stripes, pink tufts of hair in-between her long, overgrown ears, which also had tufts of pink fluff inside.

Her mother place a paw on Luna's Right shoulder where her birthmark of a pink feather laid, matching her own.

"She's the spitting image of you, so beautiful" Alto told his wife, placing a paw over her own pink feather birthmark.

Alto gazed upon his family, a proud husband and father and felt like he'd never be happier in his whole life, he stroked his wife's long pink hair, which contrasted to her soft, white fur, so beautifully.

"True" she giggled proudly, caressing her baby's soft newborn fur "but she has you're eyes" Crystal stated, looking up into altos large blue eyes, with her gazing pink affections.

"Ah yes! At least she has something of mine!" He laughed sheepishly, running his large paws through his grey fur and red hair.

Suddenly altos large, grey, red-tipped ears twitched, an approaching rustling sound was coming from outside of their cave.

"Is she here yet?!" a loud, young voice boomed and echoed through the cave, causing the tiny princess to jump and cry.

"Shh" Crystal hushed the tiny child back into a peaceful slumber as 3 sets of little paws approached quietly and apologetically.

"Sorry mama, we just wanted to come see her!" a young, grey wolf with red hair and blue eyes said, walking into the light along with two other young wolves, a male black wolf with red hair and red eyes and a female black wolf with dark purple hair and dark purple eyes with a white circle around the right one.

"I know you're excited to see your sister Lupin, but you must be quiet" she hushed her first born gently, knowing how excitited he must be, he had always wanted a sibling to play with.

"Marlo, Cheshire you may approach too" Crystal told them smiling and angling the newborn toward the three young wolves.

"Shes so tiny" Cheshire admired peering down at the tiny creature before her.

"Ew, she puked" Marlo cringed in disgust before getting a thump on the head from his friend.

"She's a baby Marlo, that's what they do" he growled protectively over his new little sister.

"Hush Lupin, it's okay, he's never seen a baby before" Crystal soothed, wiping up the milk spew collecting at the tips of her baby's chin fur.

Lupin gave an apologetic look toward his friend and rubbed his head.

"May I hold her?" he asked, the light of the candles on the walls of the dark cave lit up his face, making him look more eager to hold his tiny sibling.

"Alright" his mother replied, slowly getting up from the warm rock she was sitting on "but sit here with her" she told him, pointing toward the rock.

Lupin walked over to the rock and sat down, waiting patiently for his mother to give over her young pup.

"She's so beautiful" he said in awe, as his mother placed his tiny sister in his small arms "I love her so much already"

"I'm glad" his mother smiled warmly watching protectively over her two young children, as they were crowed by his two friends and father, who all wanted to stroke the soft fur of the mini princess.

But watching in horror just outside of the cave was a young eagle boy.

"I must tell father" he stated urgently.

The young eagle boy spread his long arms, with large brown feathers scaled all down the sides, and took off toward the giant peeks of the mountains of solitude.

The eagle boy landed outside the temple of wings, a large, stone temple built by ancient winged creatures centuries ago, to hold all the wisdom and knowledge of Diversia and all its creatures, knowledge and beliefs.

"Father!" he bellowed into large temple, the walls filled with stone shelves of what seemed to be thousands of books, held up by large, sculpted stone pillar's.

In the middle of the great hall was a spiral, deepening circle of seats with a large stand in the middle, this was for the council of wings, whom were holding a meeting at that present time.

As the young eagle shouted, 20 angry, old, eagle heads snapped his way.

"Cai!" exclaimed the largest eagle with brown and golden feathers and a golden beak "What have I told you about interrupting the council of wings?!"

"Sorry father" Cai appologised rubbing the brim of his brown and yellow beak "but this could not wait!" he exclaimed, placing a determined step forward, his long white toga blowing about in the newly realesed air.

"I have been to the den of the wolves, and discovered the birth of a princess" the young eagle started pointing his arm out toward the direction of the wolf pack "who knows how long she will have, before she is sacrificed!"

"Sacrifised?!" the 20 older eagles all began shouting and questioning.

"It is the wolf way! It has nothing to do with us Cai, you know we cannot interfere with other species" his father announced loudly over the other eagle's, silencing their loud squawks.

"We can't just sit by and let them kill a baby over their beliefs" Cai argued against his father, angrily approaching the council and slamming his fists on a table bench behind the council's circle.

"As stated to us by the ancients, we cannot interfere with tradition Cai, the wolves have sacrificed their royal princesses for centuries, they believe their god's choose their queens and not royal blood, as said in the wolves sacred text: All Princess shall be sacrificed in royalty, for the gods decide queens not I" the chief preached from memory a passage from ancient wolf text, he had memorised most ancient writing and knowledge, he was considered the wisest In all of Diversia.

"Long a go we were aloud to talk to interfere, to be friends with and even mate with other species, why not now?!" Cai questioned angrily, raising an arm toward the chief, for through all the books he had read, he had never found the answer to his question.

"Tell me what happened"

The chief let out a slow, defeated sigh, placing his fore fingers between the bridge of his nose and eyes.

"Everybody out" he demand, waving a single hand to the council, who didn't move.

"But chief Feon-"

"OUT!" Chief Feon snapped loudly, cracking his beak toward the council members, making them jump out of their chairs and fly upward and out toward the open ceiling in a hurried frenzy of feathers and claws.

"Father, what happened, why won't you tell me?" Cai demanded as his father approached him slowly, his steps echoing through the great hall.

"Come" he told Cai walking pasting him and placing a hand on his left shoulder "there's something I want you to see"

The two walked into the gardens of the temple of wings, beautiful exotic flowers and plants of all colours, especially pinks and orange, ran through the ruins and bridges through out the garden and just beyond a small pond where 2 tiny koi fish danced together in rhythm; lay a giant statue.

"Why are you showing me the statue of king Linus?" Coi asked his father, staring up at the large statue of the old king.

"The trust ended with the war between the lions and tigers" he started, his long, white toga and golden, roped belt tided around his waist, blowing in the breeze, feathers rustling against the silky fabric.

"I know of the great war-"

"Do not interrupt me Cai, less you wish not to know" Feon snapped at his son, furrowing his thin, brown feathered eye brows.

"The war began from a forbidden love" he continued, tearing his disapproving gaze away from his son and back up to the large statue.

"When king Linus was young, he fell for his childhood friend Tingu, of the tiger clan, as their love grew, so did they and their responsibility's they had for their clans, Linus wanted to take Tingu as his Queen, but she was already betrothed to the Tiger king; so when Linus became king, he stole Tingu away from her clan and took her as his queen, King Titan, the Tiger king, was furious and declared war on the Lion pride and all interspecies couples and hybrid children"

"-Hybrid children? I thought interspecies couldn't have children?" Cai interrupted again.

"That was a lie created when we tried to stop the war, so females would be less likely to be attracted to males of other species" he told him, giving him a glaring sideways glance, then proceed to continue with his story "Titan enslaved the hybrids, and punished the interspecies lovers; Linus and Tingu could no longer ignore the devastation they had created, so they along with the rulers of the other clans, came to us to ask us to pass the, now standing, law banning interspecies mating and children, we told them we would help them, but they also had to create barriers and bad blood between their people or a new kind of war would emerge; and so Tingu returned to her clan and became Titan's wife, so he would stop the bloodshed and war... But not before she gave birth to two twin cubs Tywana and Shinsu, the first royal Ligers, but Linus knew he couldn't keep them safe from Titan, so he created a safe haven for them and all the other hybrid children of Diversia, in the forest of the forgotten" he ended, bowing his head to the large statue of Linus in respect.

"The forest of the forgotten?" he questioned cocking his head side ways, making his neatly combed feathers fly mischievously upward on end.

"But you always told me it was haunted and that dangerous creatures live there!"

"To keep you and everyone else away, Although Titan is long dead, it is not known If his followers are, so the forbidden lovers and their children wish to remain hidden until they feel ready to reveal themselves" The chief explain running his large hands over his head and to his neck, revealing his large, yet aged, bicep under the sleeve of his robes.

"But father all of this matters not, this tiny princess will be sacrificed and killed, for no reason; I must do something!" Cai protested to his father, taking a step backward, getting ready to take off in flight.

"Did you not hear my story boy?!" He shouted furiously, snapping his beak toward Cai "Involving yourself in other clans will only bring war, it is their way, do not interfere!" He demanded putting a firm hand on his shoulder to stop him from flying off and glaring at him with disapproval.

"I can't do nothing" he stated, hurriedly rolled his fathers hand off his shoulder and took off at great speed; his father could only look on in anger and disappointment, for he knew that what his son was about to do would bring trouble to them all.
