Hello again! ^_^ I am sorry about the last chapter. I know there were a lot of flashbacks and not enough action, but I figured you guys must have been tired with all the fighting happening lately. (Chapters 16, 17, 18, 19) Also I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving! Please enjoy the chapter! XD

-PREVIOUSLY ON DRAGON STORM-

Rio finally made it back to where he was ambushed by the one hundred griffin soldiers. He decided to pick up whatever ammo and equipment he could use. Shortly afterward Rio and Amy found an elevator that was in the corner of the room. They took the elevator only one floor up and when the doors opened up... Rio found himself in a long hallway.

They proceeded to walk down the hallway until they realized where they were. Rio read a sign on the wall and it read: Prisoners. There were a lot of them. Every single one of them was half asleep or just worn out. It was like that with all the prisoners until Rio and Amy reached the end of the hallway and saw only one door remained. Rio looked inside and saw an empty room at first, but then saw something sitting in the moonlight coming from the window.

"Hm? Who are you?" Necro asked.

"I could ask you the same thing." Rio replied.

OPENING:

I guess I'm just trying to thank you?

Revealing only little bits of honesty.

As days go by we run away, by blaming someone else.

DRAGON STORM

CHAPTER 21: Necro the Shunned, Cross Wing's strike, and Rio's ultimate choice, Life or Revenge!

Necro looked around in his cell and found nothing different. He had just gotten back from Tiger Wanghu's underground battle area and found his cell the same as he had left it. He was not worn out or anything. In fact, this had to be one of Necro's easiest battles yet. Necro walked toward a shattered mirror and viewed himself to find that he had in fact walked away with no scars or wounds at all. The only thing he noticed was his Shunned Identification. The fact that he was a mixed breed. Among other things, Necro also viewed his cloths and features.

Necro is a half-breed mixed with half dragon, and half corsac fox. His whole body is colored with black silver flecked scales, but his tail fades into a burnt orange about ¾ the way down. His long serpentine tail is 4 feet in length. His head hair is actually seven mid back length scales and all of them are dark gray. He has fox ears with dark purple tufts on them. He has one silver crystalline eye with no iris or pupils. He also has a scar since long ago that starts at the middle of the left forehead to the bottom of the right cheek. The eye has been replaced with a mechanical one due to a mission gone wrong. His mechanical eye can enter Night vision mode, Thermal vision mode, and can be used as a light source. It can also zoom in and out and highlight any items or objects in a color coded outline and helps to improve his accuracy. Two sweeping black silver flecked horns that fade to midnight blue, the dagger spikes are on each elbow and on the second joint of his digitigrades legs starting at the hip. There coloration is just like the horns, but the black starts at the thick of the blade fading to a maroon at the edges. His cloths that he wore consisted of a black sleeveless trench coat with a silver wolf on the back. While he wore cargo shorts to accommodate the dagger spikes.

Necro then walked over to his cell's barred window and gazed outside. He noticed that there was a heavy storm outside. The clouds were jet-black and blocked his view of the stars. They reminded him so much of the stars back when he was younger. He was confined in a small room that had a window and would gaze upon the stars just the same.

(Flashback: Necro's past)

Necro was confined inside of a small room in a mansion and gazed upon the stars and griped the bars to the window tightly and whimpered and then finally let out a sigh.

"I don't hate the darkness. It was in the darkness that I was raised." Necro said to himself.

Suddenly, his Master opened a small sliding patch on the door to his room and slid a tray of food in. A bright light that shined in to Necro's room and it felt inviting, however it quickly vanished and all that remained was a tray and on it, a glass of water, a bowl of rice and a piece of bread. He proceeded to gaze upon the stars and ponder. He was opening his eyes and closing them as if he were tried, yet he was wide-awake. He had cuts and wounds all over him. His Master or keeper didn't take any good care of him at all. He looked at himself and got annoyed and frustrated, Shackled up like a monster. He then began to stab the wall behind him with his elbow spike in attempts to vent.

" Why... Why am I in a place like this? It's not fair. Why me? I don't get it. What did I do wrong? Is there really a God watching over us? And if God does exists how could he let something like this happen?" Necro said to himself.

(Flash forward: Griffin stronghold)

Necro snapped out of it when he heard someone at his door. He wondered who it might be and then finally turned around. Necro was shocked to see a new face. He was expecting it to be Tiger Wanghu, however it was a face of an annoyed yet worried dragon. The dragon looked around the room and finally spotted Necro.

"Hm? Who are you?" Necro asked.

"I could ask you the same thing." Rio said.

Necro turned his back "I am the demon of the night.... My name is Necro. As for what I am... well... can't you see it?" Necro asked.

"See what?" Rio stared at Necro harder.

"I am a shunned." Necro whispered.

"You're a what? What's that?" Rio asked.

"Someone who is considered a shunned is a half breed." Necro stated.

"Oh...So what... I don't care. Listen, My name is Rio! I need to find a sniper rifle right away! Do you know where I can find one Necro?" Rio asked.

Necro looked up and saw how serous Rio's face looked. He then eyed the wall near the window in his cell. Rio was in shock; there in plain view was a sniper rifle.

"Don't get any ideas... it's not like I am going to hand it over." Necro said.

"You don't understand! Someone who means a lot to me is on the blink of death! The only way I can save him is with your sniper rifle." Rio said.

"It does not belong to me. It is a friend of mines." Necro said.

"You won't let me at least borrow it? I promise you I will bring it back! Come on anything you want Necro, you just name it!" Rio begged.

" I will not. I would need my friend consent first." Necro said.

"You can't! You are locked up! There is no way you could do it yourself... let me ask for you! Tell me who this friend is!" Rio demanded.

"You tell me first, who your friend is." Necro said.

"That's not important right now!" Rio yelled.

" Leave me." Necro said.

"Say... Why are you locked up in there anyway?" Rio asked.

"If this is some lame attempt to get me to change my mind it won't work, but to answer you... I am here because I too want to save someone who means a lot to me." Necro said.

"We have the same thing in common." Rio said.

"So it seems." Necro said.

"Be my friend Necro." Rio said.

"Come again?" Necro asked.

" I want you to be my friend!" Rio said.

"Because we have only one thing in common?" Necro asked.

"That's right. You have to start somewhere." Rio said.

"Fine. As you desire. You confuse me Rio. I don't understand why you would ask me to befriend you so suddenly?" Necro asked.

"Because I have a dream that a lot of other call "impossible"." Rio said.

"An impossible dream? What is it?" Necro asked.

"To protect my friends!" Rio stated.

"So because I didn't give you the sniper rifle.... You wish to befriend me and now protect me? Okay.... You are weird." Necro said.

" Look, I have to protect you now since we are friends ok? From inside there I can't do anything in my power to protect you, but I have something that can. It has been in many fights and will protect you well." Rio said and then held up a black sword and slid it through the door.

Necro reached his hand out and grabbed it by the handle and studied it carefully. "This...this is unreal!! Do you know what this is?" Necro asked.

"A black sword." Rio said.

"No... I mean... You do know who this belongs to right?" Necro said and held it in the moonlight.

"Oh...you mean that it belongs to War Wolf right? Yeah... I killed him and before he died he asked me to take his sword with me." Rio explained.

"WHAT!? That impossible!! He is one of the members of BLACKFANG! There is no way you can do something that no one else has ever been able to do?!" Necro said.

"And yet you hold the very blade in your hand in awe!" Rio said.

"How.... Why?" Necro asked.

"Look, I don't know! I just want you to hold on to it ok? I have to go. I promise you I will come back to save you." Rio said and walked away.

"Wait!" Necro said.

"What is it?" Rio asked.

"There is something about you. I feel as though you will hold true to what you say. This sword is proof of that. I can't sense War Wolf's Quintessence anymore. I feel that you will come back. Here take this sniper rifle with you and promise me you'll bring it back quickly." Necro said.

" You mean it? Will it be okay with your friend?" Rio asked.

"I think she will be ok with it." Necro said.

"She" don't tell me it's May!" Rio said.

"How did you know?" Necro said.

"I know her myself! We are good friends! She even saved my life once! Besides she is the only one I can see being friendly here." Rio said and took the sniper rifle.

"Very well. Please come back to return it." Necro said.

"No!" Rio said.

"I knew I should not-" Necro started but was interrupted.

"I will come back to free you as well as return it! After all that's my dream!" Rio said.

"To protect your friends." Necro said.

"That's right! Don't worry I will be right back." Rio said.

"I will put my trust in you.... You weird dragon. "Necro said.

Rio said his farewells and dashed off toward the elevator and waited for Amy to jump in too. They took the elevator down to the first floor and zipped back to where they were before. Only this time the storm outside was worse and more importantly Lazz's body was missing.

"Huh!? Where is Lazz? LAZZ WHERE ARE YOU!!!!!?????????" Rio yelled.

Just then a red dot appeared on Rio's chest and when Rio saw this he quickly hide behind the wall. Suddenly, a gunshot was fired and it hit the landmines behind Rio. It set them all off and one by one they exploded. Snow and smoke flew through the air. Just then Rio took aim and fired the sniper rifle. It missed, but Cross Wing was shocked. She had never had a sniper fight before. She quickly got excited and fired back.

"A sniper rifle fight huh? So be it!" Cross Wing said.

She proceeded to fire back with insane accuracy. Rio remained hidden behind the wall and sniped back at her. Cross Wing ducked and fired back. However Rio was already behind the wall again. Cross Wing moved from her spot to get a better shot and fired. Rio ran from behind the wall and jumped into the air and fired at Cross Wing again. Cross Wing got up and jumped off the wall to get a head shot. However Rio caught the bullet between his fingers and took aim again. As he landed he fired once more at her. Cross Wing landed and dived on to the floor to avoid it and fired back. Rio hide behind another wall and reloaded. Cross Wing did the same and kept her eye on her prey.

"Man, this isn't going to work! I have no experience with a sniper rifle at all. I keep missing every shot and I am running low on ammo already. However my speed more then makes up for it... she can't hit me because I am moving so fast. Despite my speed she has great aim so I should be careful." Rio thought.

"Why do I feel like I am not getting anywhere? Normally, I would have ended this in about two to three shots and that's if I didn't get a head shot to begin with. There is something else going on here. It's more then your standard PSG-1 Vs. SVD sniper rifle fight. His aim is bad... real bad. I have never had this much fun before though." Cross Wing thought.

Suddenly, Rio fired a shot at Cross Wing and hide behind the wall again. Cross Wing hide behind a pillar and fired back. Rio remained behind the wall and hurled a fireball high into the air. Cross Wing saw this and had a puzzled look on her face.

"Huh? A flare? Huh? What's that?" Cross Wing said.

Just Amy ran out in the middle of the field and barked twice. Cross Wing took aim and before she could fire she got shot in the side. Amy returned back to Rio and barked.

"Yesss!!! I got her! IT'S OVER CROSS WING! NOW TELL ME WHAT YOU DID WITH LAZZ!!!!" Rio yelled.

"AHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! NEVER!!!!!!!" Cross Wing yelled back.

Suddenly, Cross Wing took flight and headed Rio's location. Rio heard her coming and fired a shot at her, but she swayed to the side and fired back. Rio didn't hide behind the wall, instead he avoided to bullet by side stepping it. Just then Rio hurled more fireballs at Cross Wing and she avoided them all and swooped in and rammed Rio to the ground. She held up her sniper rifle to Rio's face and took aim.

"Argh! Get Off!!" Rio said.

"Any last words Rio!?" Cross Wing asked.

Rio got a good look at her up close. She was wearing a black under shirt and a heavy coat over it with a fur at the trim of the coat. She also had on boots and gloves for grip. Her blond hair was down and ended at her just below her shoulders. She had green eyes and she didn't look half bad for a female phoenix. She also had on dark gray cargo pants. She had on make-up but it was a very light amount. It didn't even look like she really had any on. Her shirt also said BLACKFANG on it.

"Well?" Cross Wing asked.

Just then Amy barked and bit Cross Wing on the leg close to her talon. She began to bleed.

"Ouch! Why you..." Cross Wing said in pain.

Just then she shot at Amy and it hit her in the head. Amy proceeded at mauling her leg.

"You learn something new everyday huh?" Rio said.

"She is bullet proof? Is she even a real Wolf?" Cross Wing said.

Just then Rio's right eye and part of his face began to under go the first part of his transformation. Black markings began to spread across his face and suddenly; he let out a big Black fireball. The fireball burned Cross Wing's sniper rifle and she dropped it before it could burn her and jumped back and viewed Rio as he was.

" Are you even a real dragon?!" Cross Wing said.

"I told you... you learn something new everyday." Rio said.

Just then Rio held his head in pain and tried to stand up, but only got up on one knee.

"No! Not again! What are you?! Leave me alone already!!" Rio said.

"Woof!" Amy barked.

"What the hell?" Cross Wing said.

"Let me out Rio!! As for who I am just call me Ori." Ori said.

"Ori? Yeah right! Argh... get out!" Rio said.

"Let me show you how it's done Rio!" Ori said.

Just then Ori dashed toward Cross Wing and disappeared and reappeared behind her and grabbed her arm and dislocated it. She then fell on the floor in massive pain.

" Arghhhhhhgg!!!" Cross Wing screamed.

"Now die!!" Ori said.

" No! Leave me alone!" Rio said and forced Ori away.

"This isn't the last time we meet Rio just remember that!" Ori said before fading away.

Rio actually pushed his transformation back with sheer will power and looked at Cross Wing on the floor. Just then May yelled and ran toward Rio.

"RRRIIOOOOO!!!!!!!" May said.

"May? What are you doing here?" Rio asked.

"Necro told me you guys met and he let you use my sniper rifle. He told me where I might be able to find you using his codec." May said.

" Oh... so you came for your sniper rifle?" Rio asked.

"I figured I could show you how to use it." May said and picked it up off the ground.

"I thought you use the bow and arrows you have with you? Why else would you go through the trouble of lugging it around?" Rio asked.

"I don't like using them at all I suck with them... I actually am on my way to becoming an expert sniper. Would you like to use them?" May asked.

"Sure I guess." Rio said and took the bow and arrows from May.

Just then Rio noticed that Cross Wing was gone.

"Ah! Where did she go? Where is Cross Wing?" Rio asked.

"There she is Rio? I wonder who's better with a sniper rifle. Cross Wing or me?" May asked.

Rio saw Cross Wing making a mad dash toward the tower.

" May can you heal me please? Then we can go after her ok?" Rio asked.

"Sure." May said and healed Rio using her G.O.N. and with that done May, Rio, and Amy all ran inside the tower.

Once inside the communications towers, Rio and the gang looked up to find Cross Wing run inside of an elevator. There was only one so Rio and May took the stairs and Amy followed. While inside the elevator; Cross Wing placed her hand on her dislocated arm and snapped it back in place and she let out a loud scream. Cross Wing then reached the top of the tower and ran a little and stopped in complete shock as Rio and May were waiting for her.

"I forgot about your super speed G.O.N. Rio. How dare you mock me!" Cross Wing said.

" Hah! It's not only that! Ever since War Wolf took control over my mind and I beat him... I have some how felt stronger. Like all of his past experience remained in my mind. I figured that it's because of him that Ori finally awakened. Now I can also add his experience to my own. It's like I have three times the experience now!" Rio stated.

"I see... you had what it took to defeat us all along. However you were missing something.... And now that you have it. The experience you didn't have before is now helping you. Interesting. However I am still the smarter, you may out experience me, but I have you right where I want you." Cross Wing said.

"How so?" May asked.

"Even now my nanomachinces inside my body are healing my wound as fast as they can as so I won't lose any more blood. Also the storm above us..." Cross Wing said.

Just then it began to thunder and rain really bad.

"It will get wet up here much faster then down below. You will slip and fall off of this fourteen story high tower and die. ...... If I don't kill you first!" Cross Wing said.

Suddenly, Cross Wing revealed a second sniper rifle that she must have picked up from the elevator and took aim. Just then, May hoped on top of Rio's shoulders and took aim with her sniper rifle also. They fired at the same time, however when Cross Wing's bullet hit Rio in the chest, his wound was instantly healed thanks to May toughing him by being on top of him and using her G.O.N. Meanwhile, Cross Wing dodged a tad bit too late and the bullet grazed her face. Just then, Rio took aim with his new bow and placed an arrow on the string and pulled it back and fired. The arrow stabbed her hand to the ground and she screamed in pain.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Cross Wing screamed.

"Now you can't use your sniper rifle Cross Wing!" Rio said.

" Also when I am mounted atop Rio in this way, he has no need to move at all. Not only will I heal any injury, but this greatly improves our accuracy." May added.

"You ... why are you betraying us you witch!!?" Cross Wing asked.

" I was never with you guys to begin with! Now that you know the truth I have to kill you! Come let us see who the better sniper is Cross Wing!" May said and got off of Rio.

"Hmph! Child's play!" Cross Wing said and then pulled the arrow out of her hand and took aim with her sniper rifle.

Just then, Amy jump into the air from behind Cross Wing and tried to pounce on her, however it was no use she ducked and spun around and back kicked her toward Rio.

"Amy?! What happened? That plan should have worked." Rio said.

"I have been toying with you guys up until now in order to observe your fighting styles. Now that I know what I am up against... I would like you to know that I was put in charge of all the experimental creatures here on this island." Cross Wing said and then she whistled with her beak and not one second later hundreds of creatures popped up from below.

Soon they found themselves completely surrounded and outnumbered. May quickly shot at Cross Wing and she avoided it by flying upward. Rio began to shoot one creature at a time with his handgun. Just then, Amy jumped high into the air and caught a flying creature by the leg and mauled it to death.

"It's no use; you're all going to DIE!!!!!!!!" Cross Wing said and fired her sniper at Rio's leg.

Rio fell to the ground in pain and screamed. Just then a swarm of flying creatures headed toward Rio to finish him off as Cross Wing took aim at Rio's head for a headshot. May took this chance to take aim at Cross Wing and aimed for her head for a headshot. Amy rushed over to where Rio was on the ground with his blood stained all over the floor. Despite how fast Amy could run Cross Wing and May pressed the trigger of their respected sniper rifles and fired. Shortly after that the only thing that could be heard was the sound of the storm.
