#3 of Losing Humanity

This is the working Bestiary for the world of Losing Humanity, Dead Earth. In other words, it will be added to as I continue to write. I hope you guys enjoy the added information and look into the world of Dead Earth.

Bestiary for Losing Humanity

Tilef- It is a large reptile, it's body size similar to the shape of a wolf. It's body is generally thicker and legs a bit more muscular, it's tail definitely longer and more whip shaped. Its face is triangular shaped and it has inner ears, it's spine has feathery protrusions that are conical in shape. The males have more of a pronounced feathered ruff up around their shoulders and necks. The most common male coloration is purple and silver, the most common female coloration is brown as dull green. Males can be found also in deep red and bright orange or bright yellow and vibrant green with turquoise blue stripes. They are the most common pets to find in the world of Dead Earth and are similar to dogs in friendliness but are very independent like cats. They have evolved to become omnivores but lean more heavily towards vegetarian now that plants are more easy to come by. They are extremely loyal and make great guards of the house. They have huge fangs and also flat teeth for grinding. Their scales across their bodies are large but very smooth.

Neftoo- The neftoo takes the place of most the rodents in the Ancient Earth days. However, neftoos rely heavily on insects and scavenging on their main source of nutrients. They are usually black or light gray with darker stripes. Being purely nocturnal unless disturbed during the day time, they have adopted these colors to blend into the colors of the night world better. They have the skeletal structure similar to that of a tiny cat, though their structure is more like that of a large jungle cat than a house cat. Their ears are rounded and their skulls are too, their tails are thin with a thick plush and velvety fur covering their entire length. Though their paws are similarly shaped to a rat's they have very little fur except covering the back of their hands and around their wrists. They do have retractable claws, and their eyes have vertical pupils that can change to completely round depending on the amount of light available. They will rely on plants during hard times, especially if they are looking for water in dry parts of the land, they eat mostly succulents or cacti.

Phetan- Half the size of an ostrich, these large bird-like creatures are the flightless game birds of Dead Earth. They have large powerful legs, though aren't extremely fast, have rather good defense mechanisms in the fear department. Their plumage is bright variations of browns and tans with various patterns in their neck ruff in the colors of greens, blues, and reds. Supposedly the best way to track individual phetans is by the patterns in their neck ruffs, it is said that no single phetan has the same patterns. They are completely herbivorous, they have long flat beak-like muzzles that actually have flat grinding teeth in them because they only eat leaves of trees and shrubs. They do lay eggs, and their eggs are a beautiful dark blue-gray with speckles of mahogany. They move in herds and do normal herd protection formations when it comes to their young, such as surrounding them in a circle and pushing their neck plumage up in their aggression display to tell the predator to back off.

Fikan- These animals are the pack species of Dead Earth. They are a pure carnivorous species, the size of a tiger, with the skeletal system and fur pattern closer to that of a fox. But their fur is short and plush like that of a jaguar, the colors they are found in most likely are gray, with burnt umber, and golden tans. They are a huge species, and dangerous, since they have both the strength and intelligence to kill much larger species than themselves. Their paws are the most different skeletal adaptation, they have scales that cover them and have a paw that is shaped with three toes in the front and one shorter thumb-like toe in the back (the back toe has a huge talon like claw). The shape of their paws allow to them to be able to climb trees easier and also running across sandy soil without an issue. They are both hunters and scavengers and act a lot like the hyenas in Earth now, they clean rotting carcasses, and are able to keep their muzzles and anything else fur covered from getting infected with possibly dangerous bacteria by cleaning their face with their own saliva (which has an enzyme specifically geared to dissolving the keratin protein that helps create fur/hair) their fur grows back within a few weeks.
