The sun shone through a small window in the corner of Jake's home office, shining onto the soft light brown wooden table in the corner of Jake's home office. The window itself had been left slightly ajar, allowing the cool summer air to warm the room naturally. On top of the desk lay a small leather backed book that would almost look like some kind of travel journal, but unbeknownst to the desk's owner the small leather back Journal held within it dark and ancient powers.

Jake tossed in his bed a little as his alarm clock began to let out it's normal high-pitched whine to try and wake him from his slumber. He groaned angrily as the loud object tried to wake him for the morning, he slightly roughly put a pillow over his head and groaned. "Why is it always so damn loud?" He said to himself before raising his hand and slamming it on the dismiss alarm button. Soon the room fell into silence and Jake let out a long contented sigh. "Ahhh, peace at last." Jake said in almost a relaxed trance now the loud alarm was silenced. Almost as if on cue his daughter Beth called up from downstairs breaking his tranquil silence." Dad I'm heading out! Remember I am Jesse's ride today so I will need to drop her off after class!" The young girl said obviously having poked her head upward in the staircase.

Jake let out a sigh throwing his pillow a little bit to the right corner of his bed with just a slight hint of annoyance. He then said slightly loudly yelling back to her though not in anger. "Roger that honey, just make sure to be back before dinner." Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how he wanted to look at it his daughter did not even give him a response, yet the sound of a door slamming could be heard. Once he was sure she was gone he let out a loud groan and quickly swung his legs over the side of the bed, his feet hitting the ground with a audible thump. Jake then pushed himself up to slightly curl over the bed. As he did so he felt a muscle in the back of his neck pull back inside of him in almost retaliation for the movement." Oh Gaddam..." Jake said angrily feeling the muscle burn just a little bit. He then put one of his fingers inside his slightly manicured yet scruffy brown hair, as he itched a spot on the top of his head. After he finished itching his head he moved his hand to his small slightly gray goatee, ruffling his fingers through the small fibers of his beard using it as a subconscious excuse not to get up from his cozy bed. Unfortunately for Jake he knew that he could not procrastinate much longer, so he took a deep breath and exhaled before pushing himself up and off his bed.

Once he did that he looked around the room with his soft blue eyes, that still had a bit of morning fog set within them. He brought his hands to his eyes and lightly rubbed them with the backs of his hands. Once that was done Jake let out another sigh not feeling happy to get to work that morning. He walked over to the corner of his bedroom and looked at himself in the mirror, he was only wearing a small black shirt and his underwear, his normal bedroom attire. He then looked at himself in the mirror judging how much effort he wanted to put in to get ready for the morning. He decided some clean clothes would do for this morning and if he had to physically go into his office he would take a quick brisk shower to not seem so disheveled. He searched through his dresser and his closet for the clothing he'd felt like wearing that morning. He picked out a small black shirt quite like the one he was wearing though just a little more dressy and some blue jeans. He quickly put those on just tossing his nightwear onto his bed not feeling that he would need to clean them since he was just going to slip into them after work anyway. After all was said and done Jake cracked his knuckles a bit and then began walking down the stairs heading for his home office, he dreaded the thought of having to start work but he knew sooner rather than later it would have to be done.
