#1 of The Card Master

Considering my other story isn't very active and very rarely read, we'll make do with writing this one. Something newer and more imaginative. This story will be set in a more medieval age, but with a slightly different world. In said world, there are cards that are used to summon various things. Whether it be a creature, or perhaps a sword of fire. However, the possibilities are endless. Suggestions, ideas, criticism and other things all welcome. Also, lemme know if you liked it!

A young adult wolf fur with light green eyes, black fur, and red markings occasionally along his body is laying asleep on his bed, his feet (Paws?) are reaching till just before the beds end. Though he can hear a feint soft voice calling to him, he refuses to look. The sounds of his dreams overpowering it. Soon though, the sound of his mothers voice wakes him with a threatening boom. The dull and colorless room appearing rather unfurnished. The room only housing a bed and a bookshelf. The wooden floors starting to slouch some from all the years of being worn down. The only window in the room seeming to have become blackened and casting out all light from the room.

"Mura Shikazi! Wake up! You'll be late to that history speech by the village elder!" She yells out, now standing above his bed. The female fur having white fur with light blue eyes. Her ears being tipped with black fur. Her hands also being black furred, the palms having a big white spot. The skin under her fur seeming to be calm and straight rather then dropping. Her tail having black streaks through it, the tip being gray.

He stares at her in fear, knowing well what her punishments are. Quickly he jumps up, throwing on his thin linen threaded pants, worn linen shirt, and his now falling apart leather shoes. He immediately takes off out the door afterwards, not wanting to miss the speech considering his mom had helped to put it together. The long walk along the towns path being too far in his opinion. Mura carefully watches the bushes seeing them ruffle from all the wind blowing quickly and strong. All of the rivers water rising on the opposite bank along the path. Before long he reaches the towns end.

After arriving at the speech, he sat through it, barely paying attention. However one part of the speech catches his ears.

"There are cards in our world, some that very few will live to tell of. These are known as the Gods Legions. They are cards capable of summoning creatures, spells, or even buildings. However, when you acquire one of the legion cards, you will also obtain a deck of random cards. Some will help, others will hinder. Though so far there are only two who are known to possess cards. King Aluger, and King Machai." Speaks the lore heavy history examiner, his voice ringing through all ears, young and old.

Mura stares and listens, his dreams always wanting to find a card for himself. Wanting to obtain one is rather different, considering after all, he is no more then a peasant. As the history lesson finishes, he runs off down the hill at break neck speed, going straight for his home. The path all the way back home now dark and rather gloomy. The water still, too still. After making it to his halfway mark he looks down into the waters feeling rather uneasy. He picks up speed wondering why he didn't bring a horse with him.

Upon arrival to his home, Mura finds his mother and brother watching him carefully. Dragging a knapsack around as he packs useful items, such as daggers, flint, and a bow and arrows. Next he fills a saddle with a sword, and other items in the equipped satchels. His brother just has a look of winder in his eyes. He opens his left pocket on his shirt pulling out a silver coin that has the original kings face. The price of which is worth more than one could imagine. His sword at his waist knowing he'll be left to care for their mom now.

"And where do you think you're going? You're barely of age with no money! I damn sure don't have enough for you!" His mom hollars out at him, her voice scaring even herself. She wasn't ready for her son to leave, nor did she want their father to. However she knew there was no arguing. With a sigh she drops down a single coin pouch and looks up at him. "That's all I can spare." She mumbles walking away, tears flooding her eyes.

Mura finishes packing some extra equipment, but stops as he looks at the book of cards. It's a story telling of how the kings acquired their cards. Looking at the first image, it shows the backs of two cards. The back is silver and faintly glowing, along with a diamond shape in the center, shaded a light green on one, and a light yellow on the other. The colors signify the cards that go along with each other. The kings having rarely ever spoken of what type of cards the colors go along with. Mura just supposed it was so neither was at a disadvantage.

For instance, King Machai has a deck consisting of blue and green diamond cards. King Aluger's deck is unknown of both origin, and type. There is also a specially made tournament arena that was mysteriously just there one day. It is unknown as to why or how the cards and the arena exist, but they all know there's something coming. Mura sighs as he reads the last page, looking up at the sky. The clouds all appearing to him as creatures and waves. To his amazement he couldn't understand just how werll everything was going for his leaving.

"I need to start at the arena. Please, let there be some sign of how I can achieve my goal there." He whispers out to himself, his whispers awakening a courage in him he's never felt before. This courage setting him on his decision. Talking to his mom and brother about what things he should expect on the path and the rest of it. His bags holding hardly any food that he didn't think about. His pants being rather unfitting for travel. His shirt also rather thin compared to most that he sees. His shoes rather broken as well. The soles fading.

After he says his goodbyes, Mura rides his horse to the southern path leading towards the arena, his thoughts and mindset all focused on his one goal. He must become the card master no matter the costs, but at the same time he rides alone because he doesn't want anyone to be in danger. He also planned on having a different name at the arena and all cities between. Knowing just how ruthless some of the card masters could and would be. No one besides the kings have been known by the wide public to use cards. This was a big bargaining chip for them and would possibly always remain so.

Mura finds that his horse starts to run out of stamina, the roads many turns and twists all beginning to slow them down. At one particular turn, they slip upon a muddy path. The mud causing them to go off balance, sending Mura flying off his horse into a tree, and his horse sliding along the ground neighing. The horse giving only a single look towards Mura before taking off at the sound of squeals coming towards him. Mura passed out from the initial impact against the tree.

Three hours pass before Mura drowsily wakes up, but instead of where he fell, he is inside a wooden cage with imps surrounding him. He lowers his ears flat seeing his satchel, but when he sees what's next to it he jumps up, nearly tipping the cage as he leans against the side. He whimpers from the jump, the pain from hitting the tree earlier being apparent in his side. Looking around he tries to find the horse, but with it no where to be found he focuses on the item next to the satchel. There next to his satchel is a card, but with a fine golden print outline, repeating the words "Ama Diu" (Om-Ay Do). The cards back side facing upwards with a blue glow, the diamond in the middle looking black. Mura sighs and pushes against the cage, but it tips trapping his arm under it and he growls.

"Great, a limb trapped by a limb." He mumbles out, but to his surprise the cage starts to move up. Mura, thinking this is his chance, launches out of the cage from the open top, carefully avoiding the spikes so as to not mortally wound himself. However, as he turns his head to see what lifted the cage, his eyes flare with fear. There, it's monstrous wings beating with air gusts flying around, it's snout spewing smoke and flame. It's eyes burning with hunger, was a dragon. One of the five, but it is believed they will only harm someone if they are either hungry, or do not feel like speaking. Remembering the card, Mura quickly grabs it, but the card causes him to float with a weird energetic feeling. The dragon, having had enough spits fire all over Mura, but inetead of touching him, the card reflects it. Mura seeing a figure appear.

"My name is Angela. I am the Goddess of Reflection. It may not sound like much, but the card you have, will in the end be a deck focused on reflecting attacks back at your opponent. This is your calling, card bearer. Will you accept it?" Asks the holy figure before him, her body hidden by a glowing shroud. Mura stays silent, focused on her holyness.

"Mura is my name. Goddess Angela, I accept my fate. Please bestow your blessing upon me." States Mura, a happiness and sense of accomplishment donning on him. He smiles, showing his gratitude as the goddess smiles as well.

"Very Well" She says, touching his chest where a silver glowing mark appears with the word "reflection" in an ancient writing.
