#11 of PI Isaac Case #1

here is Chapter 11.

i have been thinking of releasing these on a different day, since i will be starting something tomorrow that may take time away from my writing.

The parking lot of the school was crowded so I had to part a little bit away. While I was reluctant to the idea of coming back to the school, but what I needed might be here at this time. I needed more info about Xander and the school was probably the only place I could get any. I opened the text Niko sent me yesterday and jot down the names in my notebook. Niko said these were just names of people that went to the same school with Xander but that doesn't mean they personally know him.

Before leaving my car, I jot down some questions I want answered by the time I leave:

  1. Was Xander a snitch?

  2. Does Xander have any connection to the vandalism of the school?

I remember the conversation I had with Kate Copper at the hospital and jot down another question; who is Lector? Kate said that there was a rumor saying Xander was the reason Lector was in jail. If it is true, then Lector might had have a motive to make Xander disappear.

Even if the other five have no new info, then there was still one other person I can talk to; Leon Kennedy. If I can at least talk to him, it would help me big in this investigation.

As I approached the school on foot, I placed a hand in my pocket and griped my stun gun. While it might not be needed, it help me feel at ease that I am not completely helpless should something happen.

When I entered the school, it looked the same as yesterday; spacious and empty. When I swung into the front office, the poodle with the green afro was there. I walked up to the counter, "hello there my name is Isaac and I am a detective."

"So," she responded without even looking up.

"I am in a middle of an investigation and would like your help. Can you call down a Leon Kennedy?"

The poodle glared at me then turned to her computer. After typing a bit she reached for the phone and pressed some keys. "Excuse me, can you send Leon Kennedy to the front desk. Okay thank you," she hung the phone up and turned to me, "Leon is not here today."

"What?"

"Leon Kennedy is not here today."

I sighed; this was not how I wanted this to play out. If Leon is not here then he must be at his house, good thing I have his address. "Sorry but can you call up some other students. I need you to call them here one at a time." It was important that I speak to them one at a time instead of all at once. It was an important process in an interrogation that all possible witnesses don't have time to interact with each other.

I handed her the list, "alright."

For the next hour and a half, I interrogated four of the five students. The bad news was that none of them had anything that could help me in the investigation. None of them meet Xander and only just friend him on Facebook and other social media. I was tempted to just quit and just head to Leon's house, but the last student just arrived so I just went through the motions. "Hello I am detective Isaac, a Private Detective looking into the disappearance into Xander Young."

The young jackal shook my hand, "hey, my name is Alta. I hope I can help."

"Have a seat," we both took our seats at the table, "so do you know Xander Young."

"Yes I do."

"You do?"

"Yes I do know him."

Finally a break, "how do you know him?"

"Though the tutor system, we both tutor students in the same subject so we sometimes got together and make lesson plans."

"Were you close to him, platonically?"

"We didn't hang out much but yeah I think we might be close."

Good, "what is your opinion of Xander?"

"He was good with tutoring. A lot of students struggle with Econ and government, so anyone willing to tutor in that subject is welcome in the program. When Xander joined the program abound the beginning of the school year and offered to tutor in that subject, he was a massive help."

"Really, you're not exaggerating?"

"Nope, our program deal with people who have learning disabilities as well as normal people who are just struggling, so some sessions involve up to thirteen people at once who need one on one attention. Xander really helped by taking some of them off of me and tutor them himself. He was almost a miracle worker with how many of them left the program."

"Left the program?"

"Once your graded are high enough, you leave the program and the tutor moves to someone else. Xander handled more students than me and many of them have left the program, so I am not exaggerating when I said he was a massive help."

"Alright moving along," I tried to ask my next question discreetly, "was Xander a snitch?" I failed miserably.

"Are you talking about the rumor of Xander putting Lector in jail?" I nodded, "Xander was not the one who put Lector behind bars, I was."

"You were?"

"Yeah," Alta leaned forward, "Lector was always a trouble maker and nobody knows why. Some say he was in a gang, other say he lived in a trouble home, but the truth is we don't know. Lector rarely attended class and when he did come, he usually causes trouble. He's been suspended multiple times and given multiple chances, but he just caused more trouble each time. When Lector set fire to Ms. Gore's car, the school labeled him a lost cause and expelled while he was in holding."

"But how did Xander the one to be called the snitch?"

"Because Xander was the one who called 911 when he saw the car was on fire. Lector was arrested after the arson and during the assembly some time later, Xander was given an honor. Everyone thought that it was because he put Lector in jail when the truth is that Xander got that honor because he was the only one to call 911."

"I see," so the rumor of him being a snitch was more or less a misunderstanding. "Alta, can you tell me about the last time you saw him."

"The last time I saw Xander was on the day the school was vandalized. Xander and I took the bus that morning and saw what happen. We were told that school was canceled that day and we should head home. Since it was winter we were allowed in the school and wondered around waiting for our parents to pick us up."

"How was Xander acting?"

"Like you would expect; he was shocked to see what happen to the school." if Xander was shocked to see the school in that way, there is no way he would be involved. "When we saw what was written in Mr. Cutter's room, Xander seemed to freak out."

"Are you talking about that threat?"

"Yep, the fact that the room is used by the Gay Straight Alliance made it all the more disturbing for some."

"Was Xander apart of the Alliance," the words seem to leave my mouth before I could stop them.

"Yeah he was, but I don't know if he was a part of the gay or straight part of the alliance."

Interesting, Xander was a part of the Alliance. It is possible that he fled so he won't be a target for these people. "Thank you Alta, what you told me was a big help in my investigation."

"You're welcome," I walked him to the door. When we got to the front office, there was a scene playing out in the hallway. What was going on?
