First off I don't own any Chars of the Digimon series. But I do own Alphonse aka Albino aka Al in this stories. I apologize first hand if there is a spelling or grammar errors since my English is the second. I thanked those who given me the permission to participate in the story. Anything else, please enjoy.

Chapter 20: Welcome Aboard, Partners.

ShadowWolf came out after Al yelled at something or someone behind the wall. He saw three familiar faces that gave him state of shock during his first encounter. Al saw him came out and approaching them. "Alright, we need some proper introduction first." Al began the discussion. "Girls and Minomon, this BlackGabumon here is ShadowWolf or at least that is his nickname. He is a human just like me, and I promise he means no harm to all of you."

ShadowWolf bowed at first and after hearing Al's statement he started to anger. "Hey, what am I, your dog?"

"Pipe down, Wolfie. At least I try to convince them that you are not dangerous." Al explained. "ShadowWolf, meet the girls and little Minomon. Their names were the same as their current form and, as I explain before, they are the real Digimon." The girls wave their roots/feather hand to ShadowWolf. "And as for me, which I'm sure the girls know my real name, I'm Alphonse and I'm a human as well. I used Albino as my nickname because it rhymes with Al, so you can call me Al for short."

"Al, you said that you joined a group called Destinies. Are they one of them?" ShadowWolf asked.

"Yes, they are one of them, except Minomon of course." Al answered briefly.

"Is protecting Digimon is their job?"

"One of them that is, our secondary task is to find the Glitches source and eliminate it. I'm sure you met my other friends back then."

"Now I remember. You are the human that insist on staying at Al's side." Biyomon interrupt.

"Yes I am. After what happened back then, I felt so much guilt in me. That is why I was completely aware when Minomon suddenly appeared. I thought that he was a virus, it turns out more than I expected." ShadowWolf confess every single detail from the last incident until now. ShadowWolf looked at Minomon feeling a heavy guilt on his face. "I'm sorry, Minomon. I didn't know anything about the virus so I assumed that you are one of them back then and almost killed you."

Minomon jumped down from Biyomon's hand and hop toward ShadowWolf. "It's alright, Wolfie. I understand that you want to protect your friend. I would do the same thing if my friend is in danger." Then he smiled at him. "But we are safe now since this place is so peaceful."

"He is right. So far, the Glitches haven't reaches the Digital World yet. Unless it was intentional from human," Palmon explained what Minomon meant.

"Good, let's keep it that way." Al added and then looked at the scenery. He didn't notice at first but he can feel the wind breeze. "Wow. That is weird."

"What is weird...?" ShadowWolf asked.

"I can feel the wind breezing pass through me." Al stated.

"Hey, you're right. I can feel the wind too. And it's a-a-a-ACHOO!"

"I think you should get inside and dry yourself at the fire place." Al suggested it.

"I think I should." ShadowWolf agreed and headed back to the tree and sit down near the fire place. "Ahhh... it feels so warm and nice."

"Speaking of that. I need to talk to Gennai about something. How can I reach him?" Al asked to Biyomon.

"All you need is to mail him with the Terminal and he will tell you what to do." Biyomon replied.

Not long afterwards, Swanmon have finished her bath and her feathers are shiny clean. "It's been quite a while that I haven't take a bath. It feels so refresh." Swanmon commented which gave the girls a small giggles. "So, how is he?"

"He is finally awake, and right now he is drying himself off at the fire place."

"What happened to him, did he have a nightmare?" She asked in concerned.

"No, I just splash him with cold water. He has rested quite enough and it is time for us to go home." Al explained to Swanmon.

"Why, can't you two stay a little bit longer?" She asked with a frown face.

"We'd love to hang around a little bit longer. But unfortunately, we have our separate ways of life that we have to deal with. And I'm sure somebody will get in trouble if they found out that we are still playing." Al reasoned of course with a loud voice so that ShadowWolf can hear it clearly.

"Thanks for reminding me, Lizard." ShadowWolf replied sarcastically from inside the tree.

Al shook his head a little. "Typical. What I said is true though. If we don't come back soon, I'm sure that we will get killed by our parents." Swanmon looked confused and terrified by the word ‘parent' as if it was more superior beings in the galaxy or something. Al chuckled by her reaction. "I guess you didn't know what it means, do you? Well parents are... How should I put it? Someone that takes care and raised their child which is me and ShadowWolf with love and care, it's almost the same as you do except they treated their child like an irreplaceable treasure." Al tried to explain even though he didn't know how to describe it either.

"Speaking of irreplaceable treasure, I hate to break up his excitement." Palmon interrupt the lectures. "Your friend there knows too much about our existences and there for he have to be erased, unless you had other plans for him."

Al thank hard for this situation. ‘I know the fact that he made a first contact with the virus Glitches. I also know that he is did the same like me except he did it inside the game, not the stadium. But his first impression about real Digimon was terrible because he think it was virus, unless we worked together to find out the characteristic of the infected one and the glitches itself. That would be a problem.' Al looked at tree where ShadowWolf is drying up. ‘The person who could see the Glitches are only me and why me it's still a mystery. But one thing for sure that when the PC is injured, the user can feel the same way at the exact spot it injured. So if the PC is killed...' he began to shiver. ‘I can only guess that they will be in comatose state, but so far only severe headache.'

"Time is up. What is your choice?" Palmon snapped his train of thoughts.

Al took a deep breath thinking his decision. ‘Alright, it's now or never.' "Instead of erasing him, why not letting him joined the group?"

"What makes you think that way?" Biyomon asked.

"From what I heard, you need more team member and so far I was the first and the only one that ever joined the group. What if I find more people that I could trusts and give them a chance to join the team?"

"Of course it will be your responsibility, Alphonse." Al heard another familiar voice from his back and that makes Al quite relieved.

"Of course I will, Gennai. And also I request a back up consist of two other members not three." Al state and then turned around to see Gennai and other two familiar Digimons which is Veemon and Impmon.

"We receive the urgent message from you that you need some support and Veemon and Impmon is the only one that available. Also I would like to see you in action." Gennai explained the reason why he is there at the Beginner Village.

"Did you ever worry about getting yourself into trouble? Anyway I do need some answers about my questions." Al shook his own head for Gennai's arrogant.

"No and fire away."

"As written in the message that I entered to the Digital World by an unknown portal, the questions is why can we feel all things like the real world?"

"Meaning...?"

"I mean why we can feel pain, wind, ticklish in this world, it almost exactly like being in the real world." Al asked with less difficult words.

"That because your mind said so. In this world your PC is your true body that is if you came from that portal. However when you are here in that form, you can't log out immediately."

"Why is that?"

"Actually I've never heard the effects before, but the other victims told that there was an error and it will remain error until they return to the game."

Al began to tremble in fear after knowing more the consequences by joining the team. "So what will happen if I got killed in this world while in this form?"

Gennai scratch his head. "You can always think the worst case scenario."

"There is no turning back after joining the team, are they?" Al asked.

"Yes you can, but to do that we need to erase you first so it will remain secret."

"You are not going to kill me, aren't you?" again in fear.

"No, just erasing part of your memories before you met the Digimon for the first time." Gennai answered with a chuckle.

"I see. But that means I won't have any memories that I met with ShadowWolf either."

"Well that was the consequences if your memories were wiped out."

Al think hard for the choices he has been given. He looked at his surrounding again and saw three sad faces if he leaved the group. ‘It's true that if I quit the team they will erase my memories. But the experience I've been through will be gone and probably some of them will sad especially little Minomon. Like Swanmon said, he is very fond with me right now as if I was his partner or tamer. Like I said when I joined the team, there is no turning back.' "I've made up my mind since I joined the team and I won't go back on it."

"That goes for me too, Al." ShadowWolf added and then came out from the tree. "I would like to join the team as well. I know that I'm way beyond expectation from all of you but I will do my best and I won't let all of you down, especially you Al."

"Me... Why me?" Al asked in stammered.

"Because you protect me not just once but twice, and also you support me from erasing my memories with you. That is why I will do my best so I won't be a burden to anyone."

"Are you sure you want to join? There will be lots of consequences that even I don't know after it happens."

"And letting you suffer all by yourself, I'll take that risk as a team not solo."

"He is quite a determined fellow. As long as he can keep the secrets he can join the team." Gennai stated. "Can you keep this secret to yourself because you can't tell anyone including your family?"

"I can and I will."

"Alright then, Al, I announce that you will be the leader of team Destinies newbie."

"WHAT...?!" Al yelled in shock, stammer, and anger. "You can't make me into a leader. I'm not even a full pledge team."

"Actually you are after fighting those Glitches for the second time and protecting a civilian."

"Great now you telling me." Al said sarcastically, then looked at ShadowWolf. "Is your wound healed yet?" ShadowWolf nodded a little. "If you are feeling better, we should return to the game and logged out. We've spent too much time in here, and we don't want to get a trouble from our folks."

"I couldn't agree you more." ShadowWolf agree and follow Al to the portal where they came from.

Gennai and the rest bade them fare well. Suddenly he saw something on the ground. He took the item and it appeared to be a new type of Digivice. The new Digivice had a square form with two buttons bellow the screen and another button on the left side. It has a scanner on the top side and above screen and a card reader on the right side of the screen. And to make it comfortable, it had a clip so it can be placed on the belt. The color of the device is white with black grip almost the same color that Al had. Gennai called him over. "Al, you drop something."

Al looked at Gennai confused by what he said just now. "What did I drop? I don't bring anything with me."

"Yes you are. Catch!" Gennai tossed the Digivice to Al.

Al catches the Digivice with two clawed arms and looked at it with confusion. "This isn't mine."

"It is now." Gennai answered with a smile. "And I guess that Minomon is your partner. You are officially a Tamer and a Digi Destiny."

"Well I be..." Al surprised that the new Digivice is actually his and Minomon has become his partner. He is so excited that he completely forgot about going home. But ShadowWolf remind him and he snapped from the excitement. "Gennai, could you hold this for me? I can't brought this back to the world from the game and as per rules I can't tell my mother that I have a Digimon. She thinks that I have a pet."

"Why don't I store Minomon here into your Digivice so you can keep an eye on him? Of course after I installed the food vender so you don't have to worry about Minomon's food problem."

"I appreciate that. Just pass it to Ms. Kari so I can pick it tomorrow." Al thanked Gennai and passed the Digivice back to him. He looked at the little Minomon and smiled. "Looks like I'll be seeing you again tomorrow. Be a good kid for them, okay?" Minomon nodded and they bade farewell.

Al and ShadowWolf have return to Chip Forest and walked in silent for a while until they find the portal. Al felt uneasy for this and he began the conversation. "Well, I guess that I should say congratulation for joining the team. I'm very happy that the people that join the team are my friend."

"I couldn't thank you enough for protecting me, so joining the team is the least I could do."

Al started to get angry by his answer. "Are you saying that you joined because you think it was the best way? That is almost the same as forcing you to join the team."

"Half of it was true, but this way I can see many different things that you don't see every day."

"In other words, it's for your own excitement. I've been there and it was a wrong answer back then. You obviously don't know the stories yet."

"Then enlighten me." Al began to tell the stories that he was told by the Destinies for about 15-20 minutes.

ShadowWolf felt a thump in his heart. "I never thought that real Digimons were in danger because of the Glitches from the game."

"Believe me it hit me hard for the first time as well."

"Why didn't they shut the game down?"

"There is no evidence or proof. You only get a sue warrant from the company and if you tell the secrets, things could get more ugly and more dangerous for the Digimons. And as Destinies, we don't want that happened."

"What should we do?"

"We do what we usually do. Don't raise any suspicion or havoc, play the game until there's a call from the group."

There is a silent for a moment. "About the name of the team, why it was called the Destinies?"

"It was called the Destinies because like myself consist of Digi Destiny or Chosen Children. Back then and just now you only met their partner Digimons."

"That was just a false stories I kept on hearing." ShadowWolf waved his hand as if swatting off some nonsense.

"A good one if someone keep bragging that he/she saw, met, or knew one of the legendary heroes for God who knows how long." Al folded his arm at his chest.

"So they really do exist. I heard stories of the Chosen Children venturing to the Digital World fighting bad and evil Digimons to protect the world."

"Yes and we are quite lucky to be one with them. In fact one of them is my teacher, and another one is a baker. And the rest, I don't know them quite well."

"Ho man... This is so cool. To meet and to know the Destinies is beyond my wildest dream."

"Been there as well, and it turns out there are just like us, normal people with a gift to befriend with Digimon. I even got kissed by one of them and it felt quite awkward."

"Who kissed you?"

"Renamon."

"God, I envy you. You've been kissed by one of the beautiful Digimon ever."

"Just be happy that you're in the team. Oh and welcome aboard, ShadowWolf." Al extended his hand to form a handshake.

"It's Jake." ShadowWolf reached Al hand.

"Pardon?"

"My real name is Jake. Nice to meet you, Alphonse and thank you." Jake aka ShadowWolf state his name and thanked Al once again then return to the city and logged out.
