Episode 2 "What a day"The slide doors open'd up as the fox entered the ZPD hall. The area was on full speed with officers making their way from place to place. The sound of conversationsaround the place made the hall feel even more crowded than it already was. Nick could have sworn that two wolf's near the wending machine whispered rather loudly something like"Hey, that's the first fox officer! The one that solved the big case with Judy! Did he really pass the academy? I thought it was all just rumors!"Nick did not know if to be offended or taken by these kind of conversations, since he could hear it from couple of other mammals on the way too.The amounts of crowd made him feel still a bit uneasy and nervous. If only these mammals knew the things he had done before this. Even though Nickhad a good guess they had their opinions. These things were not talked about at any point and he really did hope it would stay that way.Paying taxes back to the city from his salary would be quite a circus for his life. He really hoped Judy had not discussed about these things with anyone.It would make his life quite difficult.The time was almost eight as he took a look at his watch. He raised his gaze from his wrist and the smile hit him after he was sure that he saw right.Judy was standing her back to him, talking with receptionist, who appeared to be quite a... Large looking cheetah. His grin widened as he came closerto the bunny and stood now right behind her, trying to hear the conversation."Im sure that he will be here any moment now Ben! I am so excited that i could explode, you should have seen him at the graduation party yesterday!"Nick tried not to chuckle as Judy's tail was moving with her as she was talking. The cheetah raised his smiling face from Judy's level and saw Nick behind her."Well would you look at that! Here he is indeed." Benjamin said with friendly tone.Judy turned around like a lightning and stared the proud looking fox in his uniform, with his grin and half lidded eye's on her's.Judy look'd so amazed that she could not speak for a moment. After a while she gained her senses and gave a salute to Nick with her hand like a captain."Ready to make a world a better place, partner?""Am i ready? Yes. Yes i am." Nick chuckled for Judy's over enthusiasm."Dawwww that is so cuuuuute!" The cheetah said and leaned from his desk to watch them, like he was following a movie."BEN! What have i told you about the
word?!" Judy growled.Nick laughed way more than he should had and got angry look from Judy."Look's like im not the only one to get away with that without getting killed. We have not been introduced yet. Nicholas Wilde. Pleasure to meet you."Nick gave his paw and Cheetah answered to it warmly."Benjamin Clawhouser! Judy here has already told quite a lot about you for a half a year now.""Hmmmm, all good i hope.""You could say that... Just as you walked trough those door's she could not stop about telling how HANDSOME you were in your uniform at the gradua-""Benjiiiiii!" Judy waved her paws to signal Ben to stop. Her ears were getting quite red now."OOoooooh is that so?" Nick turned his gaze to Judy who was avoiding eye contact as best as she could from his over flirty expression."Kill me now..." Judy muttered as she was covering her face with her ears."I do have to give it to her, she is indeed on to something here... That uniform really does suit you..."Benjamin said with warm voice as he stared Nick from head to feet."Very charming indeed." The cheetah purred.Now it was Nick's turn to get quite red from his ear's, if that was even possible."Im just messing with ya Nick. By the way.. You two should get going. The Bullpen count is starting any minute now.Would not be a good sign to be late from that.""Oh right! Nick let's get going!" Judy yelped and thank'd to clock to get herself out of the awkward situation."Will be right behind you." Nick nodded and started to follow Judy to the elevators.Benji was following them both with his gaze as Judy hopped excitedly, with smiling Nick behind her."Oh. My. Goodness... I ship them so much!" the cheetah squealed like last day on earth.They both stood a mere feet away from each other as the elevator doors closed and Judy hopped up to press number four.Just as the door's closed Nick spoke."So... I did tell you that i do look very handsome.""Just... Just don't let it boost your already big ego Slick." Judy smiled as she shook her head. "Oh but it most definitely will. Coming for someone pretty as yourself, means that i am not just lying to myself." Nick chuckled.Until he realized what he had just said and his smile disappeared fast. Did he really just say that
aloud?He hoped that Judy had not noted what he said very clearly.What he could not see, was that Judy was now looking at him with her mouth open from the compliment and the blush was now hitting her harder than ever.She was trying to think what to answer.It didn't last though when Nick cleared his throat rather louder than he meant to."Soooo umm, That Benjamin guy seems nice!" Nick said with loud and awkward tone."Oh yeah, Ben is really nice person... He always cheers up everyone's day.""So Carrots uhmm... Is he uhhh... You know?""Is he... What?" Judy asked with tease in her tone. This was one of the rare times she had chance to tease Nick back. He knew exactly what Nick was trying to ask."You know. He seemed uhh.. Kind of...""Im not sure what are you are trying to ask..." The elevator doors open'd."I um... Damnit. Is he... Gay?""if he would be, would it bother you?" Judy turned around to look Nick with teasing smile."Nononono not at all. Im just... He is probably the first umm..""Gay guy you have ever met? Are you scared that he might steal your hearth?Don't worry, Benjamin already has a boyfriend." Judy chuckled."Ha ha Carrots, laugh it up. Im just saying that he seems to have a very energetic personality.""He does. You will get used to it." "Hope so."They were now standing at the front of the door to the bullpen and Nick straightened his tie and took a deep breath."You ready partner?""... I am fully trained for this occasion whiskers." Nick saluted with grin, making Judy shake her head."You will do fine Slick. Let's go."Judy open'd the door to the crowded room with loud conversations, laughing and whispers. It was almost like you would had entered the high school classroom.Like literally. Nick could have sworn that he saw a paper plane fly somewhere in the room. Then he saw something that grabbed his attention.Judy was making her way to the chair at the front of the room, closest to podium. She then turned to see if Nick was about to hop next to her, but sawthat Nick was talking and fist pumping with some wolf on the half way. Sharing a laugh and then continuing his way to Judy."This is the only spare chair here so we are going to have to share.""Well
isn't that generous of you."Nick hopped to her seat and Judy scooted a bit to the side to give the fox his space."Nick who did you talk to?" Judy asked with interest."A guy name'd Oliver. We graduated at the same time and It's seems he made his way to the same station as i did.""Well that's pretty cool." Judy smiled.Suddenly the door open'd up and large buffalo entered the podium.Bogo practically roared as he spoke."Allright! Allright! Enough! SHUT IT!"Everyone sat down and went quiet."Weee have seven new recruits with us this morning, including our first fox." Bogo said and showed his hoof to Nick's way."...Who cares."Nick took the opportunity right away. This kind of guy huh? "HAH! You should have your own line of inspirational greeting cards sir!""SHUT YOUR MOUTH WILDE!"Everyone in the room snickered right away, even Judy had hard time to contain her laugh.Nick pretty much knew that he was gonna fit right in."After assigning missions for the most mammals in the room, came their names."Hopps. Wilde...... Parking duty. Dismissed.Seriously? Nick and Judy both thought at the same time and it was showing."Just kidding! We have reports of a street racer terrorizing up Savannah central. Find him. Shut it down."Bogo signaled them to leave and continued on giving assignments to the rest of the mammals in the room.When the door closed Judy spoke."Nick this is going to be so awesome! I am definitely driving!""It's my first day at work and i have to ride a shotgun? Greedy bunny.""Comes as a privilege of being in the force longer.""Unfair. Want's to drive." Nick pleaded with grin."Don't be such a kit. I'll let you drive at some point." There are classes for these things, you should know the law."Judy look'd at Nick, half concerned and half joking."Tsk tsk. You wound me. We give him a ticket for breaking the speed limit and a fine. I mean that is what we should normally do.We could always just let him off with a warning. Imagine this. Then the mood killer mammals in the blue come and ruin all the fun. Think about how you would feel."Judy shook her head and groaned with smile as she saw that Nick was just joking around. I know you are going to like it."Nick just followed Judy trough three rows of car's until their's came and Nick's jaw dropped.Judy smiled as she watched Nick walk around the car, looking at the details like an excited kit for a new toy."Carrots, this is expensive as hell!""Language Nick." Judy reminded but still smiled."This must rise like from zero to hundred in like... five seconds?! Judy winked and entered the drivers side and waited for Nick to close his door.Nick smiled and look'd at Judy as she started the engine. He had waited this for six months and the moment was finally here.Finally fighting against the crime with his best friend.SAVANNAH CENTRALThe sun was bright and warm over Zootopia, making it look like another great day among others. All kind's of mammals ran on the streets, some on their way to work and others just having a day off.Tourism seemed to be shining as well. Must be because the music festivals were making their way to Savannahcentral square shortly. One week to the annual dance competition. Means one hell of a light
show.Nick took a side peek of the bunny driving next to him. Hmmmm. Nick wondered would she like dancing?Would it be weird to ask her? It would definitely be brave step to show her that... Damnit.She would not probably want to go with a fox. They were best friends. That was good enough for him.Still... Part of him knew that he was lying to himself. He cared about Judy more than he wanted to admit.He had for long time. He was not sure exactly when it had started but he always tried to push those feelings away.It must have been right after they had solve the case together. Every time Nick was around this bunny,he felt something that he had not felt with anyone for a long time. He felt genuinely happy.He also was pretty sure that even with the teasing and jokes, Judy must have enjoyed his company someway.She would not be around if she didn't. These odd feelings for her had only grown stronger as she visited himregularly at the academy at evenings. They had talked about many things during those visits. Families,dreams, music, their favorite food's and such. The talk never got really deep or too emotional,since Judy knew that Nick was not good with talking about himself or his life. In part Nick respected thatbut hated himself for keeping everything about him in shadow.Judy had told so much about her life but in return Nick had given her so little. She was her only friendthat truly cared for him and still he scared to open up to her. What on earth is wrong with me?She deserved to know these things about him. There was so much to like about her. He did not care thatshe was a pray, or even bunny at that matter. In his eye's he saw the most kindest and beautiful mammal in the world.Ok get it together Nick. away, a rather short brown bear. He was familiar with him from the conning days.It seem'd that Nick had been replaced. Not that he minded at all. This was going to be fun.Both of them did not even notice as Nick stood front of them and cleared his throat."Well those Popsicle's sure do seem tasty."Both of them turned their head's to his way and Finnick's jaw dropped.Nick could have sworn Ben was about to make a run for it. After one block the car pulled over and Judy did the same.Judy step'd out of the car and arrived next to the racer."Sir, you were going hundred and fifteen miles per hour, i hope you have a good explanation."The window opened and Judy was staring startled sloth on the drivers seat. It was Flash! Judy went on complete lock down.How... Nick's eye's wondered around the place, watching mammals speaking to each other on the tables.He had already finished his food and waited Judy to finish her's. Nick sipped his coffee and stared out of the window. Since they sat on the corner sofas of the place,they had pretty good view outside from the modern styled and open like restaurant. Judy was doing something on her phone and ate her carrot and onion salad same time,clearly very focused on whatever she was reading.The waitress, a rather pretty looking leopard lady came with cheery attitude next to their table."Heyyy you two, everything good here? Would you like to order anything else?"Judy raised her eye's from the phone and smiled."No thank's im good. My thanks to the chef for the salad. It tastes wonderful." "I'll make sure he hear's. Nothing but the best for the celebrities in here!" She said with genuine happiness."How about you Handsome? Anything else you would like?" The leopard ask'd and gave admiring look to him.Nick did not realize that Judy's ears perked up a bit from that."Hmmmmm, i could think for a couple of sweet things.... More coffee would be great." Nick played along with the flirt and smiled.The waitress giggled a bit and made her way to the other customers.Suddenly Judy spoke quietly while still focused on her phone."I hate when they do that."Nick look'd a bit confused and then smirked with half lidded eye's."Carrrooooots, don't tell me you got jealous."Judy almost chocked on her onion.After clearing her throat she gave a shy look to him."I was talking about the salad.""....Salad?... Hmmm what's wrong with it?""Nothing... It's the complete opposite."Nick look'd a bit confused and Judy sighed."Every time i dine here, they give me more onions, carrots and like.. More than they normally do.Plus they always treat me like im special and everything. It feel's kind of wrong. I do not deserve different treatment than others.I know they mean good and all but it makes me feel awkward."Nick chuckled and Judy look'd at his emerald eye's."Carrot's, it's called admiration and gratitude for doing great things. It doesn't sound very wrong to me.""Still i wish they would not do that...""You are worth it and way more Judy." Nick assured warmly..The bunny look'd at him with a faint blush coming on her.Nick just stared back with his genuine smile and Judy felt like she had to say something in return. Those gentle eye's just stared at her.She was about to form some kind of answer, but suddenly..."Here is your coffee Officer Wilde, i made it just perfectly hot for you.""I bet you did girl." Nick said and winked to the leopard and got a wink back.Judy's ears drooped a bit after this point and look'd at Nick as he sipped his coffee.They way he talked to her when using her real name was something that she loved every singe time.It made her feel so warm inside. But seeing Nick like this. Saying things like that to her and then flirting with the waitress like that the second.She was really jealous, she knew it deep inside and it made her feel sick of herself. She did not have any right to feel jealousy, since Nick did not like her like that.But what if he did? All
these signals that he gave her time to time as they were together, made her crazy. Most annoying was that Nick definitely was quite handsome,there was no denying that. That is why she always had to bite her tongue when all these girl's gave him the look like they wanted to eat him. She just had to swallow it up."Fluff? You alright?""Yeah." She answered, sounding accidentally very sad and smiled fast to cover it up.Nick raised a brow."You sure?""Mhm." Judy nodded."Well good. We better get along with the patrolling."Yeah." Judy agreed quietly and followed Nick to the car after they paid the bill.ZPD STATION"Well that was a smooth day don't ya think carrots?""Yeah it was!"Judy's mood had gone up along the day. After they had left the cafe, the rest of the day had been quiet patrolling and just enjoying each other's company.They were both at the ZPD center hall, chatting with Clawhouser on reception desk. The station was a bit quieter now than it had been at the morning."Sooo how was your first day in the force Nick?""It was easier than i expected.""Nick, this was unnaturally quiet day. We don't always get those. It's better that we didn't have a lot of action for the first day.""Hmmm, fair enough fluff. But you better let me drive tomorrow, so we can finally drive normally. an end call?" Nick asked."It's a routine that we have on the station before shift ends. Bogo talks about cases of the day, which ones got done and which ones need more clarification,maybe about tomorrow assignments as well and such things. After that he send's us all home." "Will it take long?""about like ten minutes maybe, if even that. Why do you ask?""I was wondering... If you are not... You know..."Judy pressed the fourth floor and look'd at Nick."What?""... If you would like to umm... Come over after work and watch movie with me? If you don't have umm.. Anything else to do..." Nick avoided eye contact and waited for response.Judy just smiled warmly and her tail twitched a little."... Sure Nick. But it better not be a horror movie.
