Sunshine streamed in the the partially parted curtains that shuffled open with the shifting wind of the morning air as it wafted through the opened windows. It brought with the smell of fresh dew heightening the natural scent of fresh grass and earth.

"Mmm..." A soft, groggy sigh came from the bed. Spilling across the bed, tangled in the tossed sheets lay the still frame of Devin, with his fur mused from a long, deep night of sleep. The sunshine caught on the shining gleam of his smokey gray fur, casting a soft shine up the length of his thigh while one leg dangled off the edge of the bed, decorated with a white sock marking coloring it up through his ankle.

His dark blue muzzle nuzzled down into the edge of the pillow, clutching to the final shreds of sleep in the late morning's rising light. As the light started to filter in through the curtains, getting brighter and brighter, the dutch angel dragon's eyelids started to flutter open.

In the doorway across the room, carefully padding in on the carpet, careful to avoid the squeak of the door's hinge. His hands clutched a tray on either side with faintly rattling dishes stacked carefully atop it. On the right, a plate stacked with steaming pancakes wafted with warm steam; on the left, a mug of creamy white milk that sloshed up and down the sides in a precarious balance.

"Breakfast in bed.... Here we go..." Grant murmured, in a nearly silent whisper to himself. His tail swished behind him in a steady, flicking back and forth with each step as he wandered towards the bed, slowly scooting onto the edge and holding the tray hovering just above his lap so it wouldn't bump as the fox writhed into place beside the still sleeping frame of his mate.

For a moment, he waited. He didn't want to wake the sleeping dragon too early. Instead, he just froze for a second and tried to swallow the moment stretched out in front of him. The warm heat of the sun sneaking in through the half-pulled curtains contrasted with the fresh chill of the morning air coming in. The sleepy heat of the dragon pressed to the side of his leg, feeling like he was toasted in the oven. His eyes turned down towards his boyfriend, taking in the sight of him captured in utter piece.

His fur splayed wildly out all around his face from the dark blue fur that circled around his muzzle through the long, white smear of fur from his chin down to his crotch where it disappeared down beneath the tangled of the sheets. His smokey grey fur glittered beneath the rays of sun shooting in.

"God..." Grant murmured, breathing in a long drink of the air tinged with the scent of buttery batter and the mixed cocktail of Devin's smell.

"Here we go..." He sighed, feeling his lips curl up as he bent down to gently kiss to furred forehead beneath him. "Morning-"

"Mmmhm?" Devin mumbled, a groggy whine escaping his lips before his eyes fluttered open and his nose began to twitch madly at the air. His eyes slowly fluttered open, focusing in on the soft, furred face of the fennec above him.

"Grant?"

"Good morning, sunshine." He grinned, slowly lowering one hand down and cupping the angel's furry cheek.

"Is that... breakfast?"

"Happy Anniversary!" The fox chirped in response, grinning and stealing another kiss from the dazed angel.

The groggy angel dragon slowly pulled himself up to a half-seated position so his lap became a flat table for the tray to slide on and the wafting scent of pancakes could hit his nose more directly. He drank in the rich, buttery scent.

Grant, with a delighted sigh, flopped down into the bed further. His slender body writhed and squirmed into a half lay and half sit with his head tipped into the shoulder of his mate. Reaching up, tipping his muzzle at an angle, his lips sought out the soft cheek of the warm companion with a gentle kiss while Devin eagerly scooped up the provided fork.

"This smells delicious! How did I get so lucky?"

Grant just grinned, hiding his wide smile into the furry shoulder of his partner with a mumbled response, "Oh, I dunno..." With one paw, he shucked up the covers once again, feeling the heat of the rising sunshine and that of the lingering body heat from the angel dragon tucked beneath. Instantly, the enveloping comfort of the blankets made him melt further into Devin's side further. His lips sought out another warm kiss, watching with wide eyes as his mate pressed the side of the fork down into the top pancake.

Pressing down, the knife easily slipped through the soft batter before it suddenly stopped. His forehead wrinkled, eyes squinching together with confusion. He gave another press, but the fork didn't go.

"What is that?" He murmured, barely even saying the question loud enough to be heard, more musing it to himself.

Grant grinned, pressing his face harder into the soft, downy fur of his mate's shoulder to hide his smirking face. His cheeks actually throbbed, aching a little with the stretch of each corner of his mouth for so long.

His fork tipped up, starting to try and dig into the soft surface of the pancakes to search for what had blocked him so. As the small flecks of the golden brown batter fell apart, opening an opened hole in the top of the cake before he spotted a glinting metallic glimmer.

"What... is... this?" He asked, voice slowing while two fingers plucked out the hidden treasure to find a glimmering engagement ring.

Grant, beside him, scooped up his free paw and tipped up his eyes to the angel dragon's. He could feel the faint pulse of his love's heart racing through the touch on his wrist. "Devin, will you give me the honor of marrying me?"

Devin's eyes went wide, mouth dropping open as his entire face scrunch with a spreading grin. He didn't even say anything, just grabbed onto the fennec's cheeks and pulled him into a fierce kiss.

The warm flavor of buttery pancakes filled Grant's mouth, it was happy and warm, and exactly as it should be.
