The same day as last chapter:

Light woke up from his midday nap on the couch when he heard the lock on the apartment's door fumbling. Of course it had to be now.

He slowly wrapped his paw around the grip of his pistol, looking over the back of the couch. He kept breathing at a constant rate, trying to keep his heartbeat from pounding his ears. One of his fingers hovered over the safety, poised to click it off at a moment's notice.

The door opened, revealing a blood red bird, aiming a military grade pistol into the room. Light gasped and dropped his pistol.

"Skye?" He asked.

"Light?" Skye asked.

Both smiled at the sight of the other, Skye clicking the safety on and jogged over to the couch. Light rolled over the back and stood. The two embraced each other, both glad that the other was all well and fine.

"It's good that you're safe." Light whispered, a tear escaping one of his red eyes.

He felt his shoulder getting wet.

"Same here, Light. Same here." Skye whispered back, holding back the tears, her voice cracking.

Light slowly ran his paw up and down her back while Skye tried to keep the floodgates closed.

"I saw what you wrote on the note, Skye." Light begun.

Skye never looked at him so quickly. Her eyes were wide, but still wet from the tears. Light took a shaky breath. Why was this so hard to say? They're just four simple words.

"I..... I....." Light stammered.

'By Anther, I'm making myself look like a total fool.'

"I..... love you too, Skye." He blurted out, his cheeks getting hotter by the second.

Skye just looked at him, her eyes tearing up further.

"Really?" She asked, her voice cracking.

Light nodded, smiling.

Both leant forward, lips meeting beak. They never knew just how long they stayed that way, only that they knew that time was moving. They separated, both breathing heavily for holding their breath for what seemed to them like minutes.

"Are you sure this could work, Light? If.... If the rest knew about this, we could be expelled from them." Skye noted, apprehensive about the new situation.

"You don't want me to let Ra~id on the secret, then?" Light asked, a smirk crossing his muzzle.

Skye punched him in the gut, a smile crossing her beak.

"You stupid fox." She quipped.

She suddenly jumped over the coughing fox and ran when she landed. Light ran after her, even being able to just manage to get in before Skye closed her bedroom door in his face.

But, she pointed to her door with one of the feathers on her wings. "Out." She ordered.

Light quickly realised that she wanted to change and left the room, sitting back onto the couch he was on before. When he heard Skye's door open and close once more, he looked towards that hallway.

He was met with Skye walking towards him with nothing except her bra and her panties on, causing Light's lower jaw to hang open and to immediately cover his eyes with both paws. Skye sat down beside him, removing his paws from his eyes and forced one to wrap around her body.

"If this is able to work, Light, you gotta get used to it." Skye said.

Light just looked away to the opposite, his blush as red as his eyes. Skye chuckled, even managing to curl up tighter against Light's body, causing the fox to blush harder.

'Bad idea to tell her that.' Light thought.

That night, they decided to break their separation and sleep together on the couch. While Skye was sleeping, Light couldn't sleep.

His mind was racing with the statement that Skye brought up.

Are you sure this could work, Light?

In the closest of possible truths, he was not sure. The most observant of their killers-in-arms would recognise the love that they have for each other. The furthest two of possible truths was that it couldn't work or that it could. There's no reason why it can't, since both have expressed their love for another and Anther doesn't make them feel that way for sheer enjoyment, but their........ occupation and their colleagues more than likely wouldn't approve.

His communicator lit up and gave off a quiet beep instead of a blaring one.

He placed it over his head, the HUD displaying a message from Loki, if the name at the bottom wasn't lying.

I think congrats are in order for you finding love, Light. But you'd find that the readers watched you.

Loki.

Light took it off and was shaking his head. Of course someone had to watch them and of course it has to be Loki and his imaginary friends.

Slightly relieved that at least one of their colleagues know about their relationship, Light slid down and closed his eyes, falling to sleep in mere seconds.
