Farin looked out the classroom window, seeing the school buses rolling into the bus lane, letting out a soft sigh. The day had truly dragged along at a snail's pace, which he suspected had something to do with it being the last day of school for the year. The Wolf phased out his teachers voice, finding history a waste of time, though he was constantly told otherwise. He excelled at maths though and was quite smart, a good thing considering his looks. He was only 5'9 and weighed in at 180 pounds, a fine layer of muscle hidden under his baggy clothing. His fur was jet black, save for a thick stripe of white from his chin down past his belly, as well as the large white patch around his right eye. His eyes were the same deep brown as his hair, always cut two inches long and usually messy. Flicking his gaze to the clock and seeing the hour hand hit three, he swept his books into his bag, hoisting it over his shoulder and leaving class, giving the teacher a quick nod, walking through the filling hallway towards the door.
His teachers and classmates had learnt early on he was fine with his own company, preferring to stay alone and avoid crowds. A call from behind him made him turn around, a blur of white fur crashing into him and knocking him down, hearing a familiar giggle and smiling, looking up at his sister.
"Elani, what have I told you about tackling me in the hallway, huh?"
The wolf girl smiled, giggling again. "Aw, but big bro! It's the end of school year!"
Farin got to his feet, helping her up, sighing softly as she hugged to his arm, pushing his way out of the doors and heading towards the bus. He looked down at his younger sister, amazed at how much she had grown in the last year. Her fur had grown more contrasting, her ears and right paw turning to deepest black like her hair, the rest of her fur staying a snowy white. Her eyes were the colour of the ocean, and to top it off, she was smart too, usually bringing home at least A's. She looked up, fixing her eyes on Farin and grinning, letting out a giggle, a smile crossing his own lips as they boarded the bus. Farin took his usual seat, Elani sliding next to him and resting on his shoulder, both settling in for the ride home, their stop rolling into view over half an hour later. Farin turned to slide off his seat, seeing Elani asleep and cradling her in his arms, sighing softly as he walked off the bus, figuring it had been a long day for her. He reached the door as the bus pulled away, shaking Elani softly in his arms.
"Hey, Elani. Wake up sleepyhead."
She stirred a little, curling her arms around his neck and opening her eyes a little, blushing as she let go of him, setting herself on her feet, Farin trying to hold back a laugh as he opened the front door, tossing the keys on the nearby table. The house was comfortable enough to live in, the master bedroom and bathroom downstairs, inhabited by their mother Shari, the siblings having their own rooms upstairs, as well as their own bathroom. Farin walked upstairs to his room, closing the door behind him and turning on his radio, heavy metal filling the area around him quickly. Elani danced along to the music as she fixed herself a cup of tea, keeping an eye on her brother's door, not wanting to let on she liked this music too.
Farin could care less about his sister at the moment, changing out of his uniform into long pants and a baggy top, opening the door and grinning, watching his sister dance for a moment, walking into the lounge room, still enjoying the music as he relaxed. It had indeed been a long day, he realised, sinking back into the recliner, glancing at the clock nearby; 3:45 pm. He knew Shari would be out late at a friend's house, no doubt gossiping and sipping tea, which suited him fine, he was more comfortable alone anyway. Elani walked into the lounge room after her brother, pressing a button and silencing the radio, catching her brother's attention and sitting next to him, turning on the TV. He didn't object, quite content to watch his sister's favourite shows, amazed again at how close the two were. Most siblings fought like old foes in a battlefield, but somehow the two had managed to keep an unspoken truce. He forgot these thoughts for now, losing track of time as the cartoons played through their usual order, opening credits beginning to roll after a time.
He gasped, looking at the clock; 7:30 pm, it read. 'That really passed quickly...' he thought to himself as Elani shifted her pose, drawing her legs underneath her, leaning onto him once more. He smiled as the movie set into motion, instantly recognising it as one of his favourites, not seeing his sister's eyes looking up at him, taking in his every feature. She took in his face properly for the first time ever, finding it impossible to trace his figure in the loose shirt, feeling something for him she never had before, opening her mouth to speak.
"F-Farin... I love you."
He looked down at her, smiling. "I love you too Elani. You're my sister after all."
She shook her head, climbing onto his chest. "But... I think I love you more than a brother..." Blushes heavily, biting her lip, afraid she had said too much.
He looks shocked, sliding back into the corner of the couch and blushing. "But Elani! You're my SISTER!" He tries to convince himself of this, slowly seeing her in a new way, her school outfit making her extremely cute, blushing heavily at his thoughts.
"I know! B-but I know its love! I've never ever felt like th-"
She finds her words getting cut off, her brother's paws on her cheeks, his lips pressed to hers in a soft kiss, kissing her brother back with a soft whimper of joy, never feeling so complete in her life. They keep the kiss going for several minutes, drawing back and panting softly, unable to believe what each other just did, Elani climbing onto him more, feeling his heart beat madly, knowing her own is just as crazy. They sit in silence for some time, Elani finally breaking it.
"I... Farin, I'm -"
Presses a finger softly to her lips, shaking his head. "No, don't be sorry, I kissed you. It was my fault."
Pulls away his paw, looking straight into his eyes. "I'm glad you feel the same way I do about you. But, Farin... please... will you be my..."
"You're what?" He tilts his head a little, not prepared in the least for the answer.
"My... m-mate..." Blushes deeply, knowing the first mate taken should stay with her for life.
"WHAT?" Grabs her shoulders, holding her back with a stern look, shaking softly. "Elani, taking a mate is serious! It has to be with the fur you truly love!"
She wriggles in his grasp, small tears in her eyes. "I do love you... more than anyone, Farin..."
He curses himself silently, lying down on the couch, looking back over the years, growling softly as she drapes her body over his, sniffling softly. "Elani... we have to keep it private, not a single soul can be told... understand?"
She nods softly, giving her brother a soft kiss on the lips. "Goodnight... brother, my lover... my mate..." She drifts off to sleep soundlessly, Farin running the thoughts through his head, finding them to be appealing and sighing, the TV the only noise as the wolf falls asleep under his mate, their dreams shared with one another, full of new hopes and possibilities.
