Chapter Twelve: Darkness, Part Two

"So then you might say my methods are a bit draconian but you know how this is going, so don't resist me." Ronan said as he looked out the window and out into the city of New York. The glowing fire in his eyes and he looked out into the world that was before him. He looked around and smiled, knowing that this was his fault. This was his influence, this was everything it was building up for and it was glorious.

Nearly breaking into a glorious set of laughs, instead the King of the Neuroseekers walked away from the burning city and closed the windows. He looked around and breathed slowly, knowing this was the conclusion he was waiting for and this was his position know and this was who he was.

"Off course that would be nothing without the three of you, well two of you it seems your missing your support now." Ronan said walking forward as he walked through the room and looked back at his prisoners, the two Outsiders. "Shame I always wanted to have a duel with you and Weehawken would have been a great place to do so."

"You won't get away with this, I will make sure that you pay for what you have done and this will be paid in blood." Lashing out Elias, tried to escape his bonds but of course the metallic energy grips did the best they could to hold him in the chair. In front of him, freshly pressed tea sat in a cup ready for the King to play teatime with the Outsiders.

"Oh I don't think that will happen isn't that right Dustin?" Ronan looked over to the other Outsider and found him delightfully silent. "I think that sums it up and it amazes me that after all these years you still haven't done anything, this was all a plan from the beginning, slowly my mind keeping it hidden before it all was revealed and look how gloriously you unwrapped it."

"Shut up you stupid fool, stop it now!" Elias yelled as he shook his wrist rubbing them against the top of the energy beams, burning his skin and hurting the Kagen. Of course they weren't harming him it was only a simple defense mechanism. "And if I have to I will slice my hands out of this place and punch you with my blunt wrists."

"Oh make empty threats more and more, they still mean absolutely nothing to me Outsider. Water shifter and energy manipulator, how powerful do you think you would be against a werewolf?" Ronan threatened turning towards them his eyes turning red and his fangs descending out, his fur starting to lengthening but stopping short of his knees buckling under weight.

"What do you think you can do against a Kagen vampire?" Elias yelled as he allowed his skin to pale to a white blue and allowed his eyes to turn red, his fangs descending as well. As Ronan hid himself behind his human façade again the werewolf laughed a bit.

"Oh really don't be a copycat, no one likes a copycat." And with that Ronan walked away and nearly walking out of the door, the man would have left the Outsiders alone to their own devices. But then he paused, Dustin cursed himself as the man stopped.

"No, you won't be left alone, I think you need a little enforcement to make sure you know not to leave because you are going to escape." Ronan told himself as he turned around and walked back towards the tea table. Looking at the Outsiders, he had the intense look in his red eyes and Dustin knew that the man would stick to his words.

"Let's play a little game, how often can you eat the same thing?" Ronan asked as he grabbed an empty teacup and then like that his arm disappeared. It turned as thin as the air and looking towards Elias, he smiled. Elias shook in his chair but quickly Ronan put his foot down quite literally and held the chair down.

"Oh please honey don't make this harder then you have to." Ronan explained as while holding Elias in place, and holding the teacup in his transparent hand, he grabbed a teacup filled with steaming tea. Ronan pushed the empty tea cup onto Elias's skin and it sunk through the skin. Elias felt the air knocked out of his lungs as the wolf did his magic. Shifting around his hand was in all sorts of places until he felt something.

"Now then have some tea dear." Ronan pushed it against Elias's lips and forcefully opened it. And like that he poured the tea in. All the while with his empty pinkie finger, Ronan slid it under Elias's chin and then pushed against it. The shark suddenly complied with the drink in his mouth and gulped it down, all the while the sound of liquid splashing into a cup being heard around the room.

"Oh come on honey don't look so down, I made this tea just for you." Ronan put the other tea cup down and then started to pull back. Dustin looked in horror as they all knew what he was doing became obvious. Elias groaned in pain and like a chestburster, the tea cup popped out of the Kagen's chest. Cleanly fresh blood flowed from the Kagen's new wound and out onto his body.

Elias was out of breath looking in disbelief as Ronan held the tea cup in his hand, and then the familiar orange glow appeared. His skin stitched itself together as the mortal wound fixed itself, his skin stitched itself together and seamed together perfectly without a scar. Even Elias seemed to be in disbelief as he looked down and saw his perfect chest again, only a few shades off his normal skin color.

"Ah the Kagen gift of immortality energy." Ronan said as he held his blood wrist and tea cup in his hand and then bring it to his face, drank the tea slipping it down his own throat. Dustin felt himself gagging as he saw the sight of his old boyfriend drinking tea contaminated with all sorts of Elias's bodily fluids. Ronan licked his lips as a tiny drip of blood fell into his mouth.

"You are really a monster don't you know that." Elias said as he looked at Ronan, feeling the pain in his chest. He looked over to Dustin, who still seemed to find himself in the state of unspeakable horror and shame. Elias looked down to the ground and wondered where this could have all changed. "Listen stop this now, and I won't have to do anything about this, you can start a new leaf and we'll find you a nice and comfy room for you and your men to bounce around in."

"And its words like that, words of mercy that tell me you aren't ready to kill me because I can do anything I want and you will not strike me." Ronan said as he held down his foot, and kept Elias down even as the Kagen shook his chair getting ready for a fight. Ronan laughed a bit and then pushed the chair back, Elias nearly falling to the floor as his chair rocked back and forth on its focal point.

"You are still a monster and you will do something that will convince Dustin that something needs to happen, you haven't restrained his hands and he could summon water from this location to kill you. He is silently judging you and when you truly do something horrible to him then he will strike." Elias said from his chair as he looked over to Dustin in a somewhat bit of shame, but he knew one thing to be sure off. "And maybe burning the city might or might not have been enough for you but when Dustin wants this to be over then it will."

"Well then good luck with that Kagen scum." Ronan said as he backed up and walked over towards the window, opening the curtains he smiled and looked upon the city it was amazing in his eyes. The fire burned into his eyes and surely in that moment Ronan had everything he needed, except for one thing.

"Dustin is not thinking because he knows he wants to join me and doesn't want to shame you but when the opportunity arises he will falter. So then my love; know that at any second when you want to join me I won't say know and you can join me as my second."

And like that Ronan walked forward, dressed in his large and flashy gear, walked out of the room. He phased between the door and walked out of the prison and tea combination room. Elias looked down at his knew skin knowing that would be the blood he would have paid, and in the same way he would make Ronan pay in his blood.

...

"Now then citizens of my new empire, the city is ours to take. Look out into the grey ashes of the city and find yourselves anyone who has survived and have yourself a bit of fun with it." Ronan yelled out to the crowd and looked around the ten thousand Neuroseekers that would be just the few who would get the privilege to the first into the new city.

"Well then what are you waiting for, don't even use the sewers! Don't even think about what you are doing, don't wait!" Ronan commanded as he yelled out into the crowd and heard the people yelling back at him, all of them clapping for him, Ronan opened his hands out and absorbed it all.

Looking around and enjoying their presence Ronan watched as the men swirled out through the entrance of Riker's island and loading their plasma weapons they crossed the road and through the East River and into the borough of Brooklyn, what perfect for a show of military power before the takeover of Manhattan, the place where it would all begin.

And turning around towards his room, he saw a ladder standing against the brick wall, grabbing onto the metal apparatus Ronan climbed to the top in silence and looking around in the midday sun, clouds overhead he looked forward and climbing to the top of the building and walking to the edge of the prison complex he looked out through the city.

Ashes on the ground, massive melting spires of the sky, all being fueled by the greatest burning material. Massive fires with thousands of degrees of energy melting the steel beams, surely jet fuel would be jealous. Already buildings were collapsing and the entire base of the city was burned. Charred wooden structures burned down and metallic bases of lower buildings collapsing and bringing three hundred years of progress down with it. Yet the buildings with massive carbon Nano tubing would probably need a bit longer to burn down.

So looking around, he grabbed his walkie-talkie on his waste and pulled it up to his face, it was a bit of a bitch to manage communications between a thousand generals keeping the control of everyone but it worked in the end and pressing the private communication button before then activating the button it connected right to Major Inferno.

"Now then General the men will arrive in about twenty minutes, do make sure that when they arrive they have ashes and not falling buildings." Ronan's words excited his mouth, with a certain joy and then looking forward he watched as black oil blasted out through the city, then getting emblazed and setting fire to the air.

And then seemingly pillars of fires rose up to the sky and engulfed the building, and with a certain smile on his face, Ronan watched as the buildings were engulfed in fire and brought down as even their superior construction was overwhelmed by the fire. He watched with joy as the city was crushed by his fist and he enjoyed it.

And then something came to his lips, Ronan started to smile, he was witnessing something amazing and beyond pure, he was witnessing the end of the world and it was his own doing, he was bringing about the end of the world and it was his own finger that pushed the button. Something about that made him smile and with a bit of a twitch from his lips, his mouth opened in a smile.

The wind below through his black hair and then seemingly the wolf was overcome with emotion, not the kind that you cried over the but the kind that was funny, Ronan laughed out with no care in the world as he watched the city where he lived for most of his life burn down. Thinking to himself he knew his parents would disagree with that statement but he knew it in his eyes to be true.

So watching as a red glow was extended over the water of the East River and the slow moving water absorbed the heat and started to evaporate, the wolf couldn't help but laugh, as if puzzle pieces had finally connected in the right order and the joke had been found and Ronan laughed and laughed all in the falling shadow of a burning city and he knew one thing as he stood up and recovered from his laughing fits, this was only the beginning. And then with a penchant for time, he decided to check how the captured were doing.

Of course Ronan sunk through the floor and into the imperial style roomed, how nice it seemed when he had brought Dustin into it a few days ago. Ignoring that he walked over towards the Outsiders, his feet sinking into the blood soaked floor, his shoes already covered to the hell in red crimson. And thus putting his hands together and trying to appear as peaceful as possible he decided to make his appeal to the trapped.

"Now then come on then, New York is burning you can see it out there. And let me tell you there is no reason to be ashamed whether or not the world's worst reporter got you or not, well..." Ronan paused on his words walking over the blood soaked floor and grabbing the curtains, pulling them apart he looked out into the city. "Well, you were always planned to be here, just consider it luckily we found your wormhole and where it went."

"Ah look who's come back, a massive asshole." Elias yelled and laughed as he tried to escape. Ronan walked over and simply with a press of his foot, held Elias down. Rolling his eyes at the antics of the Kagen shark, luckily it seemed his patience would never end with how much fun he could have with the Kagen, and even luckier more so, the Kagen would not have the same offer extended to Dustin.

"Now then Dustin, I know you still feel sour about it and we can talk but know I do feel sad." Ronan whispered across the table, Dustin looked to him and found their eyes locked again. Ronan held them and licked his lips, which seemed to break the contact they had. Relaxing Dustin sat back in his seat and knew that Ronan wasn't completely out of tricks yet. Still the lack of water around him, told a different tale than their escape plan.

"Oh don't worry no water for now but once everything burns it will come back, just as everything does and so will you." Ronan explained in normal calm and pretentious style as he walked over to Dustin and put his hands below the jaw of the shark. Holding him carefully, Ronan looked through the eyes of Dustin and the shark saw likewise. "How sad, you shouldn't have wasted yourself on this."

"Such pure tears and such pure ideas inside, I will need to harness it." Ronan's eyes grew red and he held his grip on Dustin's chin, grabbing tighter as the stare became more intense. Elias twisted his chair and looked as he realized what Ronan was doing to the shark, he started to shake nearly grabbing Dustin's attention and he would need it.

"Dustin look away, close your eyes, he is trying to do the same thing that happened to you as well!" Elias yelled, moving everything he could and trying to get the shark's attention and looking over suddenly there was a large noise. Like a massive wave, suddenly the windows started to shake and around the building a helicopter appeared.

"God dammit!" Ronan yelled.

The entire prison shook as Elias watched and then the window broke, Ronan turned his attention from Dustin and looked over at the helicopter. He smiled and extended his hands. Ronan smiled as two machine guns pointed towards him and then blasted through the window, Ronan quickly absorbed the bullets and smiled as they had no visible effect on him. And looking forward the helicopter pilot realized it as well.

Ronan jumped forward through the broken glass and grabbed onto the plane, shouting explicatives as he climbed onto the copter. The helicopter started to spin out of control and suddenly it flew up leaving the Outsiders alone in the room as seemingly something happened outside, massive amounts of gunshots started to fire and seemingly yelling outside of the door and then another helicopter appeared.

This time it hovered around the building and extended a metal catwalk out from the body of the vehicle and into the building. And out from it came a military platoon, they quickly ran out and scanned the room, looking around and finding their two targets. Elias smiled as he realized they were getting rescued.

"Well then men, good to find you in one piece, less could be said about the city but we are getting revenge." And with that a military general approached and shot them free of their cuffs. Elias stood up and looked around, seemingly a fleet of helicopters swarmed the area and a massive military invasion was happening.

"Well then let's take Ronan down." Elias stated as he walked away from the tea table and looked at Dustin who was sitting down in his seat. Elias groaned and turned around. "Come on don't do this, this is our chance to kick some ass. Go on ahead general, we'll join you on the battlefield."

"Will do men." And with that the camo clad men and his troopers ran out of the room, exiting through the large door and starting to shoot down through the prison. Elias looked over towards Dustin, he looked strange and stuck I his seat.

"Oh look at you." Elias spoke as the Kagen stood on the other side of the table and looked down at Dustin. Holding his arm Dustin stood still as he looked at Elias. Elias took a breath of fresh air and looked at Dustin. "Listen if you have such a problem with all that's happened and what going to happen, fine by it, but if you're going to be a special snowflake about it, then deal with it because you're a fighter, so get out there and fight."

"I don't want to, I don't want to fight and I don't want to do anything." Dustin finally spoke and looked at Elias. His eyes were burning, literally flashing between red and blue. All the while, he looked up and seemingly he closed his eyes; before they trailed back into blue. "Maybe we should just give up, maybe we should just go with Ronan and find some sort of peace there?"

"Dustin if after all this time you still don't know why Ronan is bad and even with all you've seen he has done, then I can't help you." Elias said as he put his hands onto Dustin's head, the shark trying to shake off his grip off. Elias thought back and knew what he had to show Dustin. "But I can get Ronan to show you himself."

...

And then as Elias opened his eyes, he was in a black room. Looking around he tried to find the escape from the room but couldn't find any way out, it was a black abyss going off in all directions and seemingly no one was in the room with him, Dustin looked around and wondered why Elias would punish him like this just for wanting some kind of peace.

"Oh you still can't see it; you still can't see me as a villain. Does our time as boyfriends really mean that much to you, because it means nothing to me; I'm only manipulating you."

And turning around Dustin found himself facing Ronan, not in his military gear or fancy armor, but in his black jacket. This was Ronan when he was in the Outsiders and this was when he was good, the shark ran over and wrapped his hands around Ronan. Ronan laughed a bit and wrapped his hands around Dustin.

"Don't hold onto the past, don't hold on to it; because the past is never coming back. New York is burnt and it was under my command, I fucking run the show, this was just a cunning attempt to gain power." Ronan whispered into Dustin's ears, even as the shark dug his ears into Ronan's neck trying to block out the horrible words that he heard.

"And if you thought just burning New York was bad, then look at all the other things I did. Steven and Master Sidorous; Dwight and Colin, all died because of my influence. Everyone in the city is burning." Ronan yelled even as Dustin tried to walk away, and as Dustin walked into the darkness he found himself on the other side of the wolf.

"And why can't you see it, you've heard the prophesy. You know who it is referring to and you know exactly why that means I have to die." Speaking suddenly the wolf fell to the floor, a massive sword pushed through his chest and then he fell onto the ground, his body dead and lifeless. Dustin looked away as he tried to ignore the sight.

"Come on you know it has to end like this, all the Neuroseekers need someone to lead them and without me, no one else will. So do it, plunge the blade into my body and kill me and the city will be better for it and you will be all the better for moving on from it." Ronan spoke even from death, and then his skin turned purple and he died. And then the world collapsed around Dustin.

"Stop it, stop it, and stop it all!" Dustin yelled as he fell to the ground and the world collapsed around him. He looked around and Elias looked at him, and then he knew even if he wasn't going to kill Ronan, he could still find revenge in the Neuroseekers. Standing up the Outsider nodded at Elias and grabbed the water from the tea, pulling it out.

"Good then, hopefully you know what has to happen." Elias said and Dustin nodded perhaps, lying just so that he didn't have to answer. Dustin stretched out his water and started to twist it in the middle of the air, forming a sort of blade in the middle of the air. Elias smiled and they walked towards the door, it was already opened and they looked out onto the battle already happening.

Werewolves threw themselves through the air and slashed at helicopters, all the while a swarm of the metallic beasts flew around the island firing down on the Neuroseekers trying to cross out through the bridge. Elias smiled and looked out, this was a battle to truly fight and Elias's hands glowed with blue as he looked out.

"Come on then, one last battle." Elias nodded and then he jumped, throwing himself over the edge the Kagen fell into the battle field and then the battle truly started. As all the Neuroseekers took notice of him, they all turned towards him, ignoring the military and turning their weapons on him. "We'll then men, shame this will be your last battle."

And like that a massive blast wave expanded out, knocking all the Neuroseekers back away from him. As the wave hit the edges of the section, Elias smiled and looked at about the thousand or so Neuroseekers he had taken down, they all stood down on the ground, and they weren't going to fight if they knew what was good for them.

"Come on I have about thirty-five or those left in me, are you just going to give up like that?" Elias bragged, putting his arms out and then twisted himself, throwing a blast of energy towards the next group. They were knocked back and Elias looked up to Dustin, quickly the shark ran across the wall and jumped down.

Forming an ice sword, Dustin slashed it through a group of Neuroseekers knocking out the group. Quickly the helicopters stopped focusing on the island and turned their attention towards the bridge, Dustin looked out as Neuroseekers fell into the ground.

Quickly the Kagen turned around and fired into the sky, hitting a werewolf. The wolf's flight path was thrown off and he flew over the wall as Elias smiled. Firing again, he managed to repeat his performance and did so again, throwing more werewolves into the East River. Dustin grabbed his water sword tightly in his hand and jumped off the wall, pulling against the sword and himself.

Intercepting another werewolf, he smacked his sword into the wolf's muzzle and knocked teeth out. And landing Dustin looked as seemingly the battle was over, he smiled again. Neuroseekers were still coming out from the lower edges of the base, but Elias's blast took out most of inside the prison.

"Ah well look at that, look at you Outsiders you managed to succeed in your efforts at pissing me off." Ronan yelled as he jumped off the top of the building and landed on the ground in front of Dustin. "Now really do you think it will be that easy, that was only a thousand so if you can do this a hundred more times, I welcome you to try but wouldn't it be easier to just to go with me."

"Come on Ronan, just fight me, I'll kill you and you will know the meaning of true and absolute pain." Elias threatened and turned from the three Neuroseekers he knocked out. With an energy ball in hand, he threatened the man. Holding on Dustin ignored the Kagen.

"Oh please, you don't know pain like I can show you Kagen; but there will be time for that later. Come with me Dustin and join the winning side, because I love you and this needs to be the end of this stupid war." Ronan offered as he grabbed onto Dustin's hand, and seemingly the two looked together. Dustin leaned in and Ronan did as well and then the two's lips touched.

"NO!" Elias yelled out as he realized this was over, his Earth was lost. Dustin was lost, and he a Kagen was the only Outsider left fighting, but dam well if he wasn't going to put a hard fight into it. Elias opened his hand and expanded out the energy balls, he was surely going to put everything into defending this Earth and knocking sense into Dustin.

Dustin started to laugh as seemingly something awakened inside of him, the shark smiled with a toothy grin and stood up as he extended his arms out. A dark smoke started to rise from out of him and Dustin's skin paled as the darkness inside of the shark awakened. And then energy waves started to blast out from the source, Elias raised his arms but still found himself getting knocked back by the blast. Still enough Elias found himself surrounded as Dustin was raised into the air.

And then as water splashed over the edge of the prison's largest walls and rose into the complex through the bridge, like the rising tide, Dustin started to evilly laugh. And then he landed on the ground, looking at Elias with no compassion, him and Ronan moved in perfect synchronization. It was like some sort of thread connected them, they stayed the same distance apart and their walking was matched.

"The werewolf inside of you is commanding this." Elias concluded as he realized where Dustin found his hope, the idea that something was controlling Ronan so powerful that it did give Dustin hope. "I should have encouraged him instead of pushing it down, this is my fault."

"Ah yes but don't think that getting inside of my head will be easy, and you might find Dustin in his head but as for Ronan, I believe as they say, he has rotted from the inside." The werewolf inside Ronan stop, seemingly dropping the façade as he was allowed entrance into Dustin's mind. And then opening his mouth, both of them started to laugh, before the entire set of Neuroseekers around them started to as well.

Two Neuroseekers grabbed Elias's back and as the Kagen tried to fight back, tried to escape he found himself unable to do so and was dragged unwilling up the stairs by the two guards with good grips. And then working with each other, two other Neuroseekers extended a metal bar off the imperial building and from it a noose.

Elias looked at it and knew that perhaps this wouldn't be something to be easily escaped. Standing on edge, Elias watched as the Neuroseekers fashioned the bar into place and then at a click of a button, the rod extended out from the ledge and over the courtyard. As it was pulled back, his two guards grabbed him and put the noose around his head.

"Don't do this Dustin, do not let evil win. Do not let him win, after all this time you cannot let evil win!" Yelling out as he found saw the metal bar extending his feet, grabbed onto the land, holding on with his feet. He looked down to Dustin, who signaled the guards to stop extending the bar. Elias, held on carefully, as he was literally one step from death.

"We are not going to kill you yet, but we are going to let you view one thing and one thing only out of the kindness of our hearts, the Earth invasion of the Kagen overworld and you are going to let us in." Dustin commanded as seemingly he looked above to Elias, and then the shark gulped. The Kagens would have his head if he let them in and Dustin would have his head if he failed.

Could the Kagens handle a force like this, hundred thousand strong flooding into the Kagen world all with advanced plasma weapons and what not. That would quite the even fight and a horrible fight for them to lose, if the Kagens lost then Ronan would have access to Bitforst Bridge and from there the universe.

"You don't want to do that, the Kagens will slaughter you. Thirteen lives will be something even you can't face against and they will all have my power and even more." Elias yelled down to Dustin as he tried to get the shark to reconsider, the shark smiled a bit and then turned his head.

"Do it, open the portal, I'd like to ask them myself." Dustin taunted as he looked at his guards and then back to Elias. The shark held onto the ground as slowly and seemingly millimeter by millimeter they extended the rod, Elias felt his grip slipping and found it harder and harder to hold onto to the ledge that was life.

"Fine then I'll do it, just don't say I didn't warn you." Elias took a breath and looked at Dustin, what would the shark want in the Kagen world, it would be vampires against werewolves, only far more interesting than a book. This would be a battle for the universe and he then held his breath, the rod was pulled a few inches in and Elias got comfortable.

Putting his hands out, he started to push the energy needed for a portal, his vampire half awakened and Elias pushed the energy out. And then like that a sphere of rainbow spinning in the middle of the air appeared. It floated like that for a few seconds and Elias looked forward wondering if the Kagens would make an appearance.

"Ha who are these Kagen, let's show them something about what we can do; men on my go fire into the portal!" Dustin commanded, and then the sound of a thousand plasma rifles being pumped engulfed everyone ears. Elias pulled himself back a few inches and then a massive stream of green flew up from the ground into the portal, nearly overwhelming the portal but it absorbed it and send it to the Kagen world.

"I hope you do know what you're doing because you just sent the Kagens the equivalent of a flaming bag of poo." Elias said as the sun appeared again and looking forward the portal stood stagnant. Fearing the Kagen's wrath, Elias pulled himself closer to the cliff and waited a few seconds, if anything the Kagens were known for their ironic timing.

"Ah and that is all the Kagens can offer me today." Dustin said as then the sun was knocked out of the sky, of course in comparison only, a massive beam of light shot out of the portal and onto Dustin, the shark knocked out of sync and away from Ronan, the wolf took the blunt of the light as his eyes were blinded by the pure energy of the Kagens.

"See this is what happens if you challenge a superior race, you are all but apes compared to us, so bow before your masters!" Elias said as he opened his wings and flapped out of the noose, plan B of course. The Kagens knew exactly what to do and as Elias, flew back and knocked the two guards out, he watched as Ronan tried to handle himself against the superior fire power of the Kagens.

"This was what I was waiting for Ronan, for you to become too big for your own good, for your own self and now you must face the Kagens in all their glory!" Elias yelled in surely what was his proudest moment. As Ronan caught the look of his red eyes piercing through the pure light of the Kagens, he knew what he had done, he had fucked up.

And then in one final blast the Kagens disappeared and so did their portal, all the Neuroseekers getting knocked back and those who had seen the light seemingly afraid or cured. They all ran away, and thus it was the three of them left in the prison, the arena of finality where it would all come to an end.

Elias jumped down towards the weakened Ronan and saw Dustin on the floor, he was knocked out and raising his fist, Elias transferred a little energy and awoke the shark. Dustin as if he never tasted air before and looked around, surprised at what had happened.

"Surely you can't think of this as the end, I can just escape and I can rebuild, the Neuroseekers will return one day." Ronan threatened, even as he held onto his chest and gasped. Elias raised his hand and then two energy gates formed, both blocking exit paths.

"No it ends here and now, this is the final fight where either we will die or you will die." Elias explained as he looked to Ronan, who smiled as he stood up and stretched his arms. Elias waited a few seconds and made sure Dustin understood what was happening, this needed to end.

"Ah once again Kagens attempting to meddle in mortal affairs, when will you realize that you need to give up and allow us humans to settle our differences on our own?" Ronan asked, standing up and cracking his neck, stretching out his arm and making sure he was ready for battle, Dustin did not have the same opportunities.

"Coming from the guy who just tried to invade the Kagen overworld that means surprisingly little." Elias joked as he stretched his own arms and looked at Dustin, who was looking down to the water on the floor, it would have its uses. And then Dustin flew forward, he was unleashed as water crashed down on Ronan, Elias smiled finally seeing Dustin's fits of passion being unlocked. Elias was about to join in the fight until someone touched his back.

"Allow them to fight, there are greater things that much be discussed." A dragon spoke, Elias turned back and then he felt the energy, it was Dawn. His scales looked polished but chipped in places, wrinkles down his face and his eyes telling a complete story. "I think it is time."

"What do you mean time?" Elias asked as he looked at Dawn, and seemingly a look of proudness but regret appeared in the dragon. The dragon smiled and held something in his hands, the dragon rolled it around between his fingers, it was some sort of pearl.

"I think we all know what is happen, our borders are falling within a month the Kagen Empire will finally fall against the Riftwalkers." Dawn spoke with an unprecedented amount of regal force. Elias suddenly found himself pondering that fact, as it was seemingly thrown onto him.

"The Kagens are packing up, we are surrendering and will distribute ourselves and lose our cross universal powers, we will have peace and be ordinary citizens of each Earth, doing what we have done in the beginning, that with a newfound zeal our faults might be thrown to oblivion." Dawn said as he held the pearl in his hand and looked at the battle, he had shame in his face.

"You surely can't allow this happen, we are Kagens. We can't lose, we can't stop now, we must be so close?" Elias cried out, looking back to Dustin and making sure he didn't blow their cover. Dawn smiled but looked to the ground and shook his head.

"It is statements like that that pushed your brother along, we will collect his corpse and energy as well, hopefully his next incarnation might find peace. As for us, I wish to enjoy my place along the grapevine and concede myself to a nice beachside universe and partake in the sweet taste of citizenship among Earth, in this multiverse we've made." Dawn explained as suddenly he held up his hand and to it a source of energy flew, it was his brother. Elias hoped his brother would return to his right mind and be on the good fight.

"And what will come to me, will I have to live in this universe that I created?" Elias asked, worry filled him. Maybe he did never realize what he did, how he altered this Earth on his own.

"No my child, take this, our time is short, but you will get to travel as I specified with the Riftwalkers but for now the Kagen overworld is closed, only the Bitforst Bridge for you remains. And in that pearl is all the energy in the Kagen universe, now I'd hurry up, his time is running short." Dawn spoke as he disappeared, dropping the pearl into Elias's hand while pointing at Ronan and Dustin.

Dustin grabbed onto Ronan and held him in place both of them struggling as the shark held him still. Elias tried to move, but then suddenly Dustin decided, and in that moment the shark realized it. Light cannot lead Darkness, and yet Ronan lead with such an efficiency, the last part of the prophecy. And thus holding Ronan, Dustin closed his eyes as he decided to make his own place to change Ronan.

And then as Elias rushed them with energy in his hand, he formed a large icicle behind Ronan, holding him still, he knew what this would do, it might sully his good name in the world but where he was going he didn't need a good reputation.

"Don't do this Dustin, we can change this world, making it the right place for us and everyone." Ronan begged as he suddenly Dustin smiled and put his head on Ronan's and then both of them screamed in pain as the icicle jutted through both of them. Dustin had written himself out of a world he didn't want to be in, he put himself onto a place where he could change Ronan on his own.

"Why did you do it all, why did you do it all?" Dustin asked as the air seeped out of his lungs, only the ice holding it in place. Ronan already further along, took his last breath and looked at Dustin.

"Because I wanted to make the perfect world for you." Ronan gasped as he spoke and then his skin turned pale, his eyes paused and then with all the damage done to him, he gave out and the wolf passed on. Dustin took a breath and watched as Elias walked over, seemingly even the shark knew that this was his time.

"You're going to die, everyone died here. You, Ronan and Colin, maybe I am bad luck. My brother once spoke of Prophets of the Falling Stars. It was his speech, he used it once and then rode off it, but he told of those who could see defeat coming but instead made the best of the information instead of trying to gain fortune or advantage from it." Bright leaned next to Dustin and rubbed the blood of his face, he held back his tears. "So then you finally killed him, how did you?"

"I realized it, he led." Dustin coughed, blood coming from his mouth and staining the ground. "He led the Neuroseekers too good, the prophecy said light couldn't lead darkness and I decided it meant he was bad. But I'll change that, don't let the people of this world sully our names, but in the next world I'll change Ronan, make him into the person he should be, show him a cheetah can change its spots and change our legacies. You can leave, your debt is repaid."

Dustin wheezed and spoke his last words, in a coughing fit the shark closed his eyes as they became paler. The shark's last bit of blood stopped pumping and then like that Dustin passed on as well. Elias shed a tear for the star crossed lovers and watched as both of them stood in oblivion. This was the end, and looking around at the arena, splatter in blood Elias knew he had to move on.

Walking over and up the steps, onto the ledge next to the imperial room; Elias looked over to the noose but knew he was too cowardly to take his own life, he wasn't ready to leave. He grabbed onto the ladder and pulled himself to the building, the Kagen knew he wasn't going to jump off into the East River as well.

Instead he walked over to the edge and sat down, he sat down and decided to count his sins and how much he changed this world. In the light of the setting light, Elias thought back to the time he came through and from that moment, everyone he touched had died. Ping, Pong, Octavian as Twilight, Colin, Ronan and Dustin all passing because of his actions. And the wars, so many Earths burnt and so many places ruined, Finn, Isaac and Basil all gone because of his touch as well.

And then in that moment, Elias decided that it was too much, he was a black death to everyone, he was truly the dragon emperor, he didn't even need transformed dragons to strike instead seemingly a set flew around him picking off those that gathered around him.

And in that moment, when the words don't come, when to many emotions are in and the pain is too great. When you realize your entire purpose in life is wrong and your effect in life is to cause pain and death was too much for Elias, and the Kagen shark was left without a witty phase to say.

He held the pearl in his hand, the energy of all the Kagens in his hand, their legacy in his hand, he got to decide the Kagens' legacy. The seeds they would not get to sing, the universe a great unfinished garden, symphony, notes being created at the moment, so many people on the other side. Looking forward at the burned Manhattan and the sunset, the orange ashy water striking the rocky beach, it was all so beautiful and spoke of rebirth.

And the Kagen just sat there, looking over the city he decided that he didn't need to protect. Instead he decided to admire the beauty of the sun setting on the city and soon enough rebuilding would start, because New York City always was there in the end. And then the Kagen looking down at the pearl, stared at it and knew all the credit he had in this.

And he knew what had to be done, and what had to remembered, who's flame had to be stoked. And in that moment, when all the universe seemed to come to and understanding the Kagen's head, he had one sentence come to his tongue.

"There should have been another way."
